unfortunately the software doesnt run on m1 and up but the controller still works, you might need to get the driver from novation though, I dont think its online.
Hí, i find your video very interesing since this is already old keyboard but im considering buwing a used one and i doubt about the actual automap functionality today, is it worthy in 2019 ? is automap updated and working properly for today's DAWs and VSTs ???? in my case i would like to have 2 direction midi comunication with the computer to avoid midi messing when recording parameters from different templates... thank you for your video !
I would not get it for automap. I would also not get it for DAW control. It works with Ableton Live (for now) but it is vapor ware, it is no longer being supported. It is still an excellent midi controller for communicating directly with hardware and software VSTs, assuming you take the time to program it properly (mapping individual functions to buttons and knobs for each synth or plugin). It is also has functional sysex implementation so it can be used to program an Alpha Juno or a lot of other old stuff. If you want something just to use in the box for modern software and DAW integration, there are probably some better options...
@@beachbummusic2657 Thanks for your reply... it's very useful since some friend is considering to buy a novation remote SL as well... i really value the 2 directional midi control, the possibility of changin pages in the template without messing the different parameters you know what i mean ? i'm used to the endless encoder and motorized fader type of control and... i will have to think twice about this one, anyway, this device is being supporting the lastest versions of automap for more than 10 years so... i wouldnt call that "vapor ware" man! thanks !!!
@@funkiEst Yeah, the faders have a short throw, not great for detailed channel strip adjustments but the top row of encoders is endless. I personally can't stand using automap, it's software that makes everything more cumbersome and annoying. I much prefer just using the controller as a direct midi CC adjuster.
I've owned 3 SLMk1s and they've all crapped the bed. But to this day, still haven't found a MIDI controller with a keybed as good as the Fatar one they used on this model. Is reliability and playability just too much to ask?
I've never used it with batteries. It can be powered by USB. An iphone charging plug and a USB Cable works fine if you're not connecting it to a computer.
Please could you tell me this work with an ipad? If so how is it powered? Can it be powered via a transformer? many thanks, looks like a super controller
Not sure, I would guess no because it is not universal class compliant and requires drivers with computers. You could use it with www.iconnectivity.com/mioxc & Apple Lightning to USB Camera adapter through midi and power it with a USB charger or with a Center + 9v power adapter. That will 100% work. I don't know what you mean by transformer, sorry
YES. There are some limitations on the sysex data that can be sent. If its for Roland synths, it will work fine. But it will not work with say, Lexicon FX units that require relative values. Also the librarian will NOT work on Mac past OS 10.14 (32 bit)

In ableton, make sure your sync settings are correct (output port of remote sl is ON for sync in ableton preferences). support.novationmusic.com/hc/en-gb/articles/207563055-Controlling-tempo-in-Ableton-Live-from-the-ReMOTE-SL- Then make sure the remote sl is sending tempo info to the port you have connected to your computer in the global settings.
I have the same plus an SL Mk2 49.Automap eventually worked well at Logic 10.3.2.BUT they are overpriced. .It's a shame I can't use them with Logic 11.But they are still working great otherwise.I'm looking for a basic 49 now.Possibly a Nektar.
Hey! Just saw your message, I had trouble when using a hub. I sometimes had to connect directly to a computer. On the editor on my mac, make sure you're using the right ports. On the keyboard, make sure you're sending midi out on USB and/or Midi

I've had mine since 2006-2007, 0 issues, despite lots of abuse and moving it across oceans multiple times. Sorry to hear about the bad luck.

Which Daw are you using and which OS? Tap tempo works in Live, but not Logic (from my experience)

I had this working in to mojave. Catalina on the other hand - there are no guarantees...
