Hey everyone, as you may or may not know, my wife is slightly vertically challenged so we lowered the Ninja 400 so she can gain some confidence on the bike. Hope this video provides some insight for you!
Awesome video and really helpful. I’m 5’3 wanting a Ninja 400 as well and this helps make my decision! Was it easy to install and how much did shop charge to lower front? What all did they do, etc. Thanks in advance brother and safe travels for you + wife!
Yeah man! We bought lowering links which was about 100. It came with an adjustable kickstand and you’ll need that. They lowered the front the equivalent that they did the back. It was around 125 for the work. So about 250 all in to get it lowered
More aggressive riders could buy woodcraft rear sets to counter the height and get more lean without scraping pegs. They sit a tad higher than stock pegs.
Careful with pegs and toes scraping while leaning the bike in a turn. Especially if there is a grade to the turn. Other downside, she will not get confident with manipulating taller bikes in the future. Maybe suggest practicing other technique riding taller bikes. Like maneuvering the bike while off the bike and then hop on, etc.
I appreciate the feedback. I told her all of this before we did it but she prioritized touching the ground over all else. She barely rides over the speed limit so I am not sure if she will ever experience the limitations of lowering the bike other than bottoming out the front forks into the fender if she grabs a handful of brake. I guess we shall see lol. I have been watching your vlogs. You have an Orange 636 right?
This is exactly what i was looking for, thank you so much for making this video! I am EXACTLY your wife's height and am purchasing this exact bike (private seller). Is it possible to link the items purchased to lower, including the peg and all. :)
I just got two of those bikes accidentally but one of them makes me very nervous cause is too low on the back ans it's not leaning enough on the kick stand
My gf is 5'1 and I lowered the bike (z400, same as ninja 400) by an inch (2.5cm) she can now put her toes down but not her flat feet. So if you are 5,2 lowering it an inch will be enough! You can always lower it more, but the more you lower it the worse it handles
@@mahz_zx1679 So, ho much did you lower the rear with the lowering links? My fiance is trying to decide between a ninja 400 and a Honda rebel 500 (she is 5'2")
I have a 2024 Ninja 500 and I think I’m going to lower it too. I expect it’ll be similar. I’ll let you know.

great video... looking at the z400 for my 1st bike and I'm short (5'5") so lowering might be a good thing for me even if its just 1"

Will any adjustable side stand works with the ninja side stand sensor? Or should it be a kawasaki ninja side stand?
The 400 feels custom made for a 5’ 9”-10” person.
You're wife can flat foot after lowering or she has to use her toes??
She can completely flat foot now! She’s 5’2”
@@mahz_zx1679 and what about before lowering? 🙂
@@seenu6031 she was on her tippy toes

How low did you set it on the rear couldn't tell from the video?
We lowered it 2 inches in the rear. My wife is 5.2 and now she can flat foot it
How do u lower the grips so it more aggressive
Get some woodcraft clip ons, they sit lower than the the stock clip on and are adjustable
Looks more like a race bike.
Wat cell phone holder is that
That’s the quad lock
