Best thing about the Evo is it doesn't prohibit you from flying in certain areas like DJI does. Autel has already said they are not "cops", and it is up to the pilot to stay within the law. Something I appreciate.
Agree 100%. And no forced updates. DJIs forced updated always come right when I'm ready to fly for a job. Picked up an Evo as my second drone. Problem gone. My DJI spends it's time now sitting at home.
@@ucimyy4u same here. Recent job required an unlock to use M2P. Only at 150' and over 2 miles from any airport, we brought out the Evo. Job done in 20 min. Never had an issue with a firmware from Evo stopping a job. With DJI you have to check daily if you fly often enough. You can burn a battery just doing updates with a Mavic.

Thanks for the video. I'm very late into the drone game, but from what I can see, DJI plays a great business game. Come out with hardware that's marginally better than the last. Release a bunch of versions and make money. The Evo is still a great drone now. I just got it after selling my Mavic Pro. Love that it's still better than most of the drones in its price range. They just came out with the EVO II. I think I'm around 3-4 years away from getting that.lol

As an owner of the Autel x star premium, as well as the DJI phantom 4 pro and mavic 2 pro, I so want the EVO to be a great drone. Love my x star footage, but their batteries totally suck in cool to cold weather. At just approx 57-62 degrees F the x star would cue me to hover till the battery warms up, if you attempted to fly without a warmed up battery it would go from 90% battery life to 6% life within just a few seconds which would cause the drone to auto land with no way to bring it home. Plus sometimes the hover to warm up thing just never worked. This was not a random battery issue, in that I have 5 x star batteries and every one did the same thing. A two year old drone now only has 1 working battery remaining out of the 5. So in cool weather the phantom drone got the call with no cold issues noted. It will be interesting to see this winter if the EVO batteries will perform in cold weather. In the right conditions the x star was great, their customer service is really good and overall I think Autel is a good drone manufacturer. Holding off to get the EVO until I see if it will perform in cooler to cold temps as the DJI drones do. Like the idea of a foldable drone that shoots in 60FPS. We shall see......
Why is everyone so stuck on 4K 60?? It’s not really needed in a drone in my opinion unless you are getting some fast moving car or boat shots. 9 times out of 10 people are filming landscape. The Mavic 2 Pro has an advantage when it comes to tracking, obstacle avoidance and 10 bit.
If I were in the market for a folding drone, I would certainly consider this. I am a photographer, and a Phantom guy, but I am happy to see some real competition in the marketplace.

So I’m sending it back and debating whether or not I should get this drone or wait for the Evo to, which is supposed to be out by the end of this month. In which case, I would get the 6K camera version of it, which does 6K/30 and 4K/120 if I’m not mistaken. By the way, just so you know for your future videos it’s not one over 2/3 inch. For me, it would be that there is NO flight restrictions and deemed by DJI. They have overstepped their bounds., DJI has become very arrogant and their manditory GEO Fencing is very restrictive. I'm a 107 certified pilot, but I don't need a Chinese company telling me where I can fly and where I can't. I am responsible to do that on my own.
yo Hows the range compared to a Mavic Pro and what phone are you using? And can this lil beast do long exposure shots (like the mavic pro can, even thoought not the best due to sensor')
Does the camera / gimbal on the Evo turn left and right as well as up and down or do you have to turn the drone itself left to right? I hope that makes sense?
Just lost my Mavic due to a gps error, it was well within site and it lost all gps and instead of giving me the option to return to home it just landed, and it landed (on a side of a mountain) fast enough that I didn't have enough time to switch to ATTI mode and fly it back. DJI told me to take a hike when I asked if I could get a deal on a refurb drone only, so I am going to switch to Autel.
And here I have been kicking myself for not learning how to switch it into atti mode. It landed quick, like within 3-4 seconds of losing gps it said landing and hit so hard you could here it bounce off the rocks and we were 200 or so yards away
if your within line of site RTH will not work. This is a known thing. RTH is not meant for convenience. You should be manually flying it at all times. RTH is a useless function unless signal has been lost.
I really enjoyed this informative review and thought it was well filmed and put together! Although this was an extremely biast review from start to finish. Every clip with the sky in it was over exposed. I definitely will have to disagree about this guy having better dynamic range than DJI mavic air. Regardless thank you for the review!
Bruh I don’t care what everybody is saying this review was amazing. DJI updates is what bugs me, Autel Evo is amazing but few of my friends who owns Autel is like nah don’t switch but I am going to buy this anyways , I need this drone when DJI says me not to fly.
I got a phantom 3 pro and phantom 4 pro. All the reviews I have watched of Mavic 2 vs Evo,, the Evo comes out as a best drone overall. It’s time to sell my p3p and get me an Evo,
I love your video. Excellent details and exactly what i try to ask. Just one thing, you did not mention this drone doesn't need to calibrate like other drone. And of course, i do love the orange color of this drone. Not like other DJI Mavic drone, It comes only one color. That's a big mistake. Honestly, i do like The Mavic Pro but i hate the color look almost the same like other kind of DJI Mavic.
I'm surprised so many drone manufacturers don't take advantage of the innate ability of a 12MP sensor to provide 1.3x lossless zoom when shooting 4K video by cropping the sensor area used.
The sensor size is not 1/2 3rds (1/(2/3) -- if it were, it would be larger than a 1" sensor -- 1 over 2/3rds is appx 1.51" --The Evo uses a common sensor size of 1/2.3" (same as numerous Sony, Panasonic camcorder sensors) -- it is 1 divided by 2.3 -- which is technically slightly smaller than a half inch sensor -- you are not reading the 2.3 correctly -- it is 2.3 not 2/3. So if it were 1 over 2 it would obviously be a 1/2' sensor. But it is actually slightly smaller since it is 1 over 2.3" ... Common elementary division -- 1 over a fraction less than 1 would always equal a value greater than 1
@@arendmookhoek4314 sensor is used to its full capacity it just sits soft in stock settings . I have taken photos on my p4p and Mavic 2 and I'd take the Mavic 2 photos anyday, they're sharper and colours are better presented. Don't believe all the media garbage. Show me multiple reports of buttons breaking. Mine have been fine. There's issues with every new product.
@@arendmookhoek4314 again spreading bullshit without knowing the technical facts and owning the drone. Theres no problem wir sub sampling the sensor. You'll still profit from better lowlight, better dynamic range and higher bit rates. But yeah, buy your autel lol.
Just bought the rugged bundle, should arrive by the 5th. I like my Spark, but DJI's software and support is just terrible, especially on Android devices. They need some competition. I do wish Autel offered something comparable to DJI refresh though. Also, DJI has some of the worst fanboys anywhere. They're almost as bad as the Apple ones with their blind devotion to the company and complete unwillingness to accept even the slightest amount of criticism, while deeming any competitor's products to be completely without merit.
I 've had 2 DJI drones mainly just because they didn't have any real competition. My problem is and always has been there incredibly lousy customer service. They do not stand behind there product and it takes hours to talk to them and weeks for them to respond to the actual problem. There warranty is barely worth the paper it's written on because everything that goes wrong with it will always be the operators fault according to them. About a year ago they had a problem with there firmware and it eventually was fixed but they did nothing to fix my drone when it took off all on its own and flew directly into a brick wall about an eighth mile from where I was, the controller was totally locked out and did not respond at all, after doing some research I found many others had had similar problem with there's just taking off on its own. There solution for mine was to offer me 20% off the purchase of a replacement drone with mine being only 6 weeks old. I will never but another DJI drone. I hope autel will give them some serious competition, they may eventually find out there customers are fed up with there lack of support I hope.
So many DJI fanboys love top trash the Evo. I liek DJI, I like my Typhoon H, I like my Anafi, but for the price the EVO just sits way above any others. The Evo camera is only being compared with P4P and M2P in most clips. M1P isn't even in the discussion. I love the NFZ, and quick start of the app, drone and rc. I had the M2P and Evo in a shoot we were doing downtown. I had to get permission to fly a simple flight not even 200' in the air with the M2P. Took about 30 min. The Evo said I was in a warning zone, and to be cautious. That was it.. we did the entire job with the Evo. Observing no choppers or other Aircraft out of a lakefront airport 3 miles away the Evo was into action really fast. Our clients wanted shots at 300' which was no problem. They say you need the right tool for every job. In this case and many like it around urban areas or within problematic NFZ's, we can get our shots, get out and make our clients happy. Some of our jobs are onsite and they want to view in real time. Evo is perfect for that. Best inspection drone out there is the Anafi. So, yeah DJI fanboys need to realize there is life beyond DJI. As pilots we have to fly within the rules... many don't and I get that, but many many DJI people I know modded the NFZ stuff out of their MP and are awaiting the mods for M2P. There is talk that Evo firmware will be changed to only permit 100' altitudes when within 1 mi of an airport runway. That's plenty enough to provide other aircraft safety zones. Cool review!!
Autel evo is a beginner's drone the mavic 2 is the way to go DJI is the king of drone technology and you're wrong the mavic 2 has better range nothing beats ocusync 2
I think you get a lot of consumers that are simply anti DJI because They are more expensive and King of the Hill but if you want super car performance you have to pay super car prices in my opinion. I have P4P , Spark and Mavic 2 Pro THE BEST Drone Period I have ever flown is the Mavic 2 pro.
Thank you. I have been researching everywhere.... and we can find an article or review to support any product we want?!. Your professionally-heartfelt, authentic review was heard around the narrative. I'm looking to strengthen homeless outreach strategies and support, so we may find those in need before they fall. I see the applications for this drone to bring a humble Occam's Razor view-point and resource to humanitarian services in our island-state communities. Thank you for the review. A thermal perspective will result in a warmer approach to service.
780p? sounds like you mean 720p. But in order to see a 4k video. you need to make sure you have a phone that handles 4k video. or better yet, on a computer that can handle 4k with the combo of the monitor and video card.

@@Johns-qr7ek Everyone doing a comparison on build quality between DJI and Autel seems to agree that the Autel has far superior construction feeling more robust. When Autel upgrade EVO2 this will no doubt even things up.
One major issue left out. The forced geofencing with DJI products is ridiculous. They decide when, where, and how you fly your drone. I don't need big brother making my decisions for me. I'm paying for a product that I can use at my will not theirs. I will never buy from DJI for that reason alone. Autel: cheaper drone, cheaper batteries, 4k at 60 fps, much better customer service from an american company, an app that works with most devices and gets better all of the time, no geofencing, 8x digital zoom, and a better built product. Is there anything more important than these features? No, I'm not affiliated with any drone company and never have been. This is just my opinion based on my experience.
I've noticed that absolutely all of the comments regarding DJI geofencing and forced software updates go completely "unnoticed" by the DJI fan boys. No snarky comments... crickets. Haha. Because they can't deny it.
How are they competing when it is the same price or actually more? $995? People are still forced to go with DJI because they know they at least work. This is too new to spend that kinda money on yet.
Hey Matt I know I am a year late with this reply however I can safely say that after owning 6 models of DJI drones the EVO is amazing. I just purchased one a few days ago and I must say It's like my first time flying all over again. I just put my LAST DJI drone up for sale today with no regrets.
Autel has the rugged package, which includes a hardcase , 3 batteries, the charger, and the controller and some extras props for 1200 dollars and on amazon its less than that. A way better deal than dji fly more. Dji went up 50 dollars on the pro and each has went up to 139 also So if u buy the whole package and the drone it will be 1870.
Thanks for taking the time to watch the video and then make a negative comment. Constructive criticism is definitely what I need, and I will absolutely work on becoming a better drone pilot. Have a fantastic day!
Is it just me or do those EVO clips look washed out ??? Have thought of purchasing the EVO on several occasions earlier on however it took Autel a month of Sundays to get the Horizontal Tilt issue sorted out then the rear obstacle avoidance still doesn't work … doesn't stop the Drone from crashing into a tree just warns you then crashes. Those Huge props do get in the way when shooting video stuff up footage ** Autel EVO 60fps isn't as bigger deal as I initially thought especially compared to video clips of the Mavic 2 moving sideways zero blur or jitter. Then of course EVO only sold in America … Do Not even think of buying it outside the States zero spare battery supply zero customer support **
Jacques Lambert I am in the UK ...I emailed Autel re service outside the USA.....would LOVE an Evo but will prob have to wait or succumb to a DJI :( ...you can get them as grey imports but the service/repair shipping is a concern....this is the reply I got today from Autel... "I deeply apologize for the lack of response, it looks like we didn't receive that last ticket so I'm not sure what happened there! Unfortunately we do not have any authorized dealers or service centers outside of the United States, however we hope to change that very soon and expand our reach across the globe. If you did purchase one and were in need of repair, we honor any warranty but only cover shipping within the United States. "
I would say the biggest issue with Autel products is the lack of aftermarket support. There’s not enough companies making EVO accessories. Great video thanks. As a owner of both DJI and Autel drones I will say they both have their downfalls.
Nice video. The Autel video looks really sharp but it misses details. This is very often visible over water where you cannot see any structure or waves in the darker parts.
They didn’t have a say in anything I said. I just really like the drone. The issues that they’ve had, they have made a point to correct with firmware updates.
Where do trolls come from? lol so many trolls in your video already, I get trolls all the time, I couldn't afford any drone for making the documentary Overpriced in my channel. Juan thinks the DJI Mavic has better features and doesn't see any competitive qualities...lol ok does he think the earth is flat? the obstacle avoidance doesn't even work in the mavic on several modes and their 1" sensor doesn't even utilize the 1" sensor, the mavic 2 pro has massive distortion in certain modes, Autel is apparently working on the 1" sensor model so if they come out with that soon the mavic 2 will be so behind considering DJI is the biggest drone company and Autel are newer. I'd love to see what Autel can do if they are given the chance DJI had. My channel isn't big enough for me to purchase an EVO, I won't be surprised to find out the trolls are just DJI fans that only support TH-camrs who use DJI products and support communist china and don't want competition. I'd personally give companies a fair chance that aren't in communist China because China ruthlessly suppress human rights and they censor websites and treat people like slaves.
They scrapped the 1inch sensor model forget it. It's not happening. There's a reason there's distortion in the Mavic 2 DLOG footage. It's to preserve details and can be edited in post in 10 seconds.. which is what DLOG requires anyway. If you knew anything about videography you wouldn't bring that pointless "fault" up for which it's not.
One can be a little be more objective, specially since you mentioned "Finally a DJI competitor" in the title. You did so little in supporting your case. Did not see any "competitive" qualities. IMHO.
This drone doesn't know how to active track correctly and the camera on it isn't that good either. If I had to rate this drone into a category I would stick it on the Mavic Air level.
@@arendmookhoek4314 it doesn't look better lol go and purchase one. I have the p4p and Mavic 2 and I'd still take the Mavic 2 Pro. Colours are unreal and transmission is better than any other drone available

Man I’m sorry that happened!
there is no switch to ATTI mode on the Mavic thats the drawback :S I also have the Mavic and I do like it, just want to try something new I guess :P
And here I have been kicking myself for not learning how to switch it into atti mode. It landed quick, like within 3-4 seconds of losing gps it said landing and hit so hard you could here it bounce off the rocks and we were 200 or so yards away
No stole of technology from DJI China company ? look at the folding arm design. Do you have shame ?
if your within line of site RTH will not work.
Where I’m at the sky is extremely plain. Check the link in the description for the graded footage.
Bruh I don’t care what everybody is saying this review was amazing. DJI updates is what bugs me, Autel Evo is amazing but few of my friends who owns Autel is like nah don’t switch but I am going to buy this anyways , I need this drone when DJI says me not to fly.
Haha thanks for the support man!
I got a phantom 3 pro and phantom 4 pro. All the reviews I have watched of Mavic 2 vs Evo,, the Evo comes out as a best drone overall. It’s time to sell my p3p and get me an Evo,
Don't know what videos you are watching but when I watch them DGI is always number one minus the mavic air and the spark
Is the screen on the remote touch screen? Similarly, can you access the flight modes without the phone/tablet.
No and No. You can navigate the camera settings without a phone but in order to use the intelligent flight modes you must use a phone.
what is the biggest size monitor it will hold?
Love this drone. I wonder if near by done repair shops can work on autel products and not just DJI.
Informative, thanks
Common elementary division -- 1 over a fraction less than 1 would always equal a value greater than 1
Especially with all the mavic 2 problems coming out right now this is a better choice for sure.
What problems? I've had mine since day one it's brilliant.

Show me multiple reports of buttons breaking. Mine have been fine. There's issues with every new product.

Theres no problem wir sub sampling the sensor. You'll still profit from better lowlight, better dynamic range and higher bit rates. But yeah, buy your autel lol.

Got both myself, mavic 2 is the better aircraft in my opinion. Autel is not bad tho.
Evo my favorite drone
What kind of distance you get from the Evo..???
I’m honestly too afraid to test the absolute limits. I’ve never taken any drone over 3/4 a mile.
the Autel have a great power management,..that's the most important part
It definitely does that!
First time viewer, good video and review, SUBBED!
I’m going Autel Evo over Mavic 2 👍
Why? Price? It's shit at everything else
Better camera, better software, better controller, better support... yep, it's 'shit' alright, lol!
Mick Harrison DJI is garbage! Period.
@@floridajames04 aka you can't afford anything DJI offers?
Can you set this drone to metric in the settings?
Yes
Autel evo is a beginner's drone the mavic 2 is the way to go DJI is the king of drone technology and you're wrong the mavic 2 has better range nothing beats ocusync 2
I think you get a lot of consumers that are simply anti DJI because They are more expensive and King of the Hill but if you want super car performance you have to pay super car prices in my opinion. I have P4P , Spark and Mavic 2 Pro THE BEST Drone Period I have ever flown is the Mavic 2 pro.
Evo has a better stronger gimbel better camera and is better build no fly zones ya baby! and can go 4 miles
Great video
My phone just support 780p ...And How Can i see ur 4k Video ?
780p? sounds like you mean 720p. But in order to see a 4k video. you need to make sure you have a phone that handles 4k video. or better yet, on a computer that can handle 4k with the combo of the monitor and video card.

Great review, gimbal just looks very easy to break!
Thanks! The gimbal has been pretty robust for me.
yea, I was wondering about the gimble all so..
Mavic pro camera sucks either its to bright or to dark. I fly the evo for everything perfect video everytime

Hey Matt I know I am a year late with this reply however I can safely say that after owning 6 models of DJI drones the EVO is amazing. I just purchased one a few days ago and I must say It's like my first time flying all over again. I just put my LAST DJI drone up for sale today with no regrets.

Great customer service, excellent camera and nfz
And evo utilize the 1/2 inch sensor unlike m2 who doesn’t even utilize a 1”
They just trick their customers !
The EVO is made in China, not a bad thing at all however I am happy to know that customer service is located in USA 🇺🇸
you didnt crash it into the lake because it did not have obstacle avoidance on the side, you crashed it because you didnt know how to fly

There is a major difference between a camera drone for photography and cinematic video, they aren't meant to go fast as the video wouldn't be cinematic.
But it's not for racing it's for photography and 45 miles per hour is good for a drone that's used for photography
