But there's always haters on TH-cam and I've found part of the bonsai community can be quite snobby and critical. It's art people its subjective and usually the people hating are being negative not because of something you did but for something that's they're insecure about or have a fear of some sort and you know what they say the more haters you have the more you know your doing something correctly. This was a great demonstration for me. Thank you Peter!
I have 3 Tridents and 3 Japanese maples that I have been struggling with all summer, trying to find a plan for each. I have done a trunk cut on one earlier this spring, and I have been cutting very thick branches from the Tridents. But I am still trying to figure out what would be best for them in terms of possible trunk cuts to develop better taper. Its mid-late summer, very hot, and I think my window of opportunity here for hard pruning is gone. Might be too much, too late in the season now. I may have to contemplate more and plan for this work to do in late winter/early spring.
Oh and just for others to know, I DO wire all my maples using the open loop method. I learned the hardway about wire bite on maples. But to get the branches in position for later in the future, wiring my Maples is necessary. Thanks again Peter!!

Another great video Peter, those maples do get out of hand quickly, just wish my little ones were a thick as yours, well someday, I have to spend most of my time on the 200+ JBP, it's needle plucking time and I do have some really cool JBP from cuttings, branches scraping the substrate, lots of options. Have a great weekend and hoping someday we can see the Bristlecones, I may take a trip just to get some Pumice, my last trip I got some in Oregon.

I kept seeing videos of your air layerings and they look really nice, anyways I tried the method on an Albizia Julbrissin, and it looks like it's gonna survive! I tried a couple other trees too, but they don't look as good. Albizia trees have a chemical in them that forms roots, so that's why I think it worked where the others didn't. Also its the middle of summer, maybe next spring I'll try a few more. They take a lot of energy out of me while they root.

Its mid-late August now here in the states, can I still prune back my Ficus at this time? Or wait till late winter?
I have 2 Ficus. ( Benjamina??, and Narifolia ) Mine stay indoors in the fall and winter, then stay outdoors through spring and summer. They grow VERY vigorously during the spring, all through summer. The Narifolia, I just let grow, as I am not talented or informed enough to know how and when to prune this tree. The other though, had an ugly "Y" shape from the previous owner who through both of these away, I rescued them. I actually cut one of the large "Y" branches off, dipped it in hormone, and behold, I now have a third Ficus!!! But its counter part, is growing so fast, I am lost on how to trim it. None of my trees are actually shaped, so maybe at this point, it doesnt matter how I trim. I would like to create pads though.
