    Some day my ficus retusa will become just as beautiful as the trees you work with. I only had it almost a year. Rescued from almost nothing, an awful straight flat cut stump. Since then I've cut it at slant. Let it grow, then too much sun on the horrible side. So I transformed it into a hallowed trunk. Everyday I look at it I can't imagine how how much has changed since day one.

    You should make sure to add the date filmed to all these videos.
    I find myself looking back at your videos for what time of the year I should do certain things to certain trees. Often going by the date published but I know you now post videos from earlier in the year.

    When using wire again if you get two pairs of pliars at each end of the wire and yank then apart sharply it straightens the wire,you may have to do it a couple of times

    Peters secret is looking into the future of the tree not necessarily the presence of the tree. He see's the tree 5 years from now.

    In Florida, sometimes we get down to 20°F. I'll bring mine into our enclosed porch if it's dry. If it is freshly watered or rained on it will come into the house in an unheated room.

    Great ficus bonsai shaping video! Sir, I have a question..what could be the age of the trees, approximately?

      Hard to tell because they will have been grown from thick cuttings and planted in the ground to thicken up. Safe guess would be about 10 years if done this way.

    I have some questions: how long does it take for a shipment of trees to be delivered from Asia; how can the trees survive such a long jurney, and do some of them die? Long story short: how is a bonsai delivery from Asia?

      From Japan to UK can take anything from 3 to 6 weeks depending on whether it is non stop or stopping along the way.
      Same applies to China, Korea etc

      They can't stand frost - need a min temp of 5 C

    I have a ficus that has a root that seems a little spongy. Should I cut it off? Will that harm it? It’s a ginseng type ficus

    i would love to see the whole journey of a tree, but i recon this is very difficult to film..
    like showing the the seedling, the first shaping, the shape after a year and so on

    Another great series of lessons.
    I’m not a huge fan of the aerial roots- could some if those be removed without harm? Some of them seem to interrupt the graceful lines of the trunks.
    That cascade was a brilliant transformation!!
    I love watching all of these- you’re a born teacher, and I love watching you think!

      Thank you Jim. Removing some aerial roots does not harm the tree because they are extremely vigorous
