Hell yea k series e30🔥🔥 Been thinking about this build recently. Built a 1000whp e36 328 in the mid 2000s. But the thought of this makes me wanna come out of "retirement".😂 The K seems like a great modern alternative to the s14 that came in the m3s.Ive had my 87 325is from high-school just sitting around for too long might as well give it some life.
@@AnbuReckz I've been semi "retired" since 08. Ran 9s at the track and was told it needed a chute to come back. I never came back. But that was the goals.. first 328 to 1000whp and first the run 9s. And I didn't retire, I switched hobbies. Me and the homies all got 1985 honda oddysey fl350s (the mini buggies), swapped in 2 stroke rotax 670cc sled engines and built long travel suspension for them. More fun for everyone and so much less stressful and cheap. Being the first to do it just meant constantly asking whats breaking next?
Aftermarket k series cams keep the same profile for the low cam. The high cam (vtec) specs is what changes. Meaning driveability doesn't change on aftermarket cams. Having said that, aftermarket cams/springs may eat the teeth on your timing chain tensioner, especially on a daily driver. Source: I build motors and tune
If I wanted to build a j series how can I build a reliable yet somehow fast engine? Would breaking 500hp be too much? Even with replacing pistons and cams? Any ideas would b great
Im soo happy to see other engines in different cars. Hate the whole, german/german or american/american setup, you never know whats great till you mix and match things to create a TRUE street monster.
That is super spicy, I love it. That E30 looks sooo clean also. Also kudos to him to just knowing the car so well like it's an extension of his. Life goals right there.
I k swapped my e36 in 2011 it made just under 400whp NA. Had some issues pulled it out to swap an s54 into it and it’s been sitting in the garage ever since.
@@irlredline7965 to me there's absolutely nothing as cool as a "resto-mod". and considering the motor is kinda newer compared to the car, it would make sense to put in an auto. plus if he wants to put in a sequential the only thing he would compromise is the whining sound and clanking of a straight cut gearset, there would be no h pattern action anyway
@@game9370x Mannnnn wtf are you even talking about now? We tried to reason with you but now you are just losing your mind. Relax kid, you are stressing us out.
I dont even want more than 550/600 in my ls swapped e36. They weigh nothing, especially after you take the seats out. Swapping them for fixed backs, a rear seat delete, and stock steering wheel for a qr is almost 210lbs saved if u have electric/heated seats.
Should look into the BMW 135i,335i,535I GS6 53-BZ 6 speed transmission. Can take a shit ton of power reliably its power handling specs is close to the T56 transmission so great for K swaps and LS swaps.
2:40 yea you really need to put in the hours and do oil test (and multiple oil changes) for a build motor to make sure everything is fine. Apparently it got ripped before it was out of brake in phase.
I don't think you'll need to concern yourself about the final drive. A friend ran a BMW specialist shop in South Africa and he owned a 333i. He worked on a twin turbo-d 735i which had the auto replaced with a manual box. The final drive ratio needed changing to get more legs, and I remember my mate calling me to come look. The final drive on the 7 series was the same as on his 3 series. Those E30's were very well built. I owned 4 of them and they built the rep of small car-big engine that made BMW in the 80's.
The E30 M3 has a 4 cylinder 2.5 l inline motor. In what universe is that big? If anything it’s small car small engine with nice power and great handling.
@simonz5002 In the 80s most small cars were 1300s to 1600s, occasionally 2l, usually straight 4s. BMW were shoehorning 6cyl straights into their 3 series shells, so the small car, big engine config with RWD was def part of their design ethos.
@@juciyjcurtis7938 it’s not ONLY about competition. My main point here is the E30 is a classic car not some early 90’s Honda civic that was made in the quadrillions for $10k. The E30 deserves a BMW engine and b58 is a superior motor for boost. This is no secret. It can make twice the horsepower. The only reason I brought up the 2jz is that the b58 does not have as much aftermarket development time (it’s only 7 years old) as the 2jz and if his goal were to make 2,000+ horsepower and make it stupid fast then you have no option but to use a different brand. Understand? In either case the choice to use that Honda is poor.
Rx8 chassis. Super light and can turn, super low COG. Hondas are tin cans. Unless it's NSX s2k or ITR/CTR the chassis are like pop cans flexing everywhere.

Not all of them. Skunk2 cams change the low profile cam a tad.
