I was going to ask about the helicopter but decided to read comments first. It was definitely WTF??? Sure would like doors that big. In ours, there is about two inches on each side of the dump truck mirrors.

Hi Kurtis, I have 50 years as machinist/toolmaker and I am in awe on your skills, you are great, love your videos. I am subscribed also. Thanks! I machine new parts for construction equipment when they are obsolete or unavailable, I design them and make them from scratch, mostly on huge trackhoes (escavators) and D-8,s and 9,s and huge dump trucks. I am 80 years old now and love my work. Different every day, always thinking (keeping altzeimers from knocking at the door. I am the only machinist in the shop I work in also, I have a lathe 118 inches between centers, but very old! Thanks for the videos, your misses does a good job.
Kurtis, I am always impressed by the amount of patience you have regarding handling stressful situations. Although I am much older, I have a lot to learn from you. Thanks for sharing.
Really love when you comment(in the background of the video), explaining what things are and what they are used for. Like myself, I do not know anything about these stuff, so it is really interesting!😍

It's always nice to add tools to your shop. Making room can be a PITA at the time though. Just about everything big added, when I was working, needed the floor tore up and a good footing poured. The original building was a farm implement repair shop, so the concrete floor wasn't up to holding heavy machine tools.
Nice chopper, beats a bloody drone. Like your work mate, you are getting a nice shop together. Slightly jealous but I'm too bloody old for that big stuff now. It would take me too long to walk the length of the new machine all day. Cheers from Tassie.
Hey mate thanks for watching. Would love to say the chopper is ours but it's owned by a guy up the road 😭 yeah I will need an Uber to operate this lathe haha
It would satisfy a lot of people's curiosity if you could give a ballpark of what a lathe like that costs new. Don't have to say what you paid, but what would that beast's MSRP be? Quite a machine!
Please don't wait till the lathe is set up for the next video. I'd love to see how you set it up and get it straight and level. Is it likely to require scraping to get it in working order? Love your channel. Since Adam Booth retired from Motion Industries, he's no longer making anything big. Thank you for filling that niche on TH-cam .

Hello from the Lone Star state. That is one MASSIVE lathe. I'm no machinist, but i do enjoy watching what you do. I have watched a number of your videos, and I am impressed with what you do and how you do it. I watched the one last night where you had to make a new shaft for the hitachi excavator...... I had no idea that the eyes on those things were attached to a pin on the end of the shaft and then welded the rest of the way. Awesome work you do. In the USA we are forced by OSHA to buckle the forklift seatbelt. The forklift ty-wrapped roof isn't allowed either. The roof must be clear to permit unobstructed overhead view. A USA vendor makes clear covers with a bubble to help shed rain water to meet the OSHA requirement and provide a rain cover for the forklift operator. My solution to the floor anchor stud removal problem is to use wedge anchors (my favorite trade name is thunder studs). I drill all the way through the concrete floor when installing. The stud can then be driven flush with the floor when removal is required. I like thunder studs because they are inexpensive and stud size equals drilled holes size. Top notch fork-liftery!
Haha cheers mate thanks for watching 😎👍
Looks like the Safety Officer is attempting to confiscate a non-conforming? lifting strap. Lol Can't wait to see the projects you'll be doing on the new lathe. Cheers Kurtis!
Hahaha yeah the do not reuse strap is now his toy 😂
Ideal modelers lathe!
Good buy mate looks like a clean machine 👍 and plan b worked out as well if not better than plan a for unloading it too👍where there is a will there's a way
Thanks mate yeah hard to find a lathe this size for the price we paid
I learnt something new today I always wondered what slings were used for "tug of war of course"
Hahaha yeah that's a "one use only" sling so now gets used for safety officer workouts 💪🤣
Kurtis man! A lathe with a 24' bed is AWESOME dude!!!!!!
This will be COOL to watch you create with!

Hey mate welcome to the channel! Thanks for subscribing 😎👍
Love it! Can’t wait to see it peeling off some chrome rod 👊🏽👊🏽
I was just thinking this week about how I need to up my lathe game over here, I’ve got a 350mm diameter barrel to turn and bore from hollow bar, and no steady big enough to fit it 🥴🥴
Have fun with the new toy 👍🏽😅
Time to get a bigger steady rest 💪🤣 yeah mate looking forward to finish setting it up and getting it turning
@@CuttingEdgeEngineering The thing is I designed a steady to swing up to 320mm barrels, got the frame all flame cut out of 60mm plate and my slack ass still hasn’t built it. And now this cylinder won’t even fit in that steady 😂😂
I hear if you mount it vertical it takes a smaller footprint. At least that's what the internet says. Looks like a good addition to your operation.
yeah that's right we'd just have to cut a hole in the roof 🤣
Great videos, Kurtis and camera person! It's always nice to receive a new "toy."
Man with the most toys wins!
haha yeah got a few bits and pieces 🤣
nice machine, i am happy to see the first chips from it
Hey mate will definitely get some good video once it's in action 😎👍
