Close wastegate pipe ..give it all the power see if it over boosts ...if it doesn't then it could be your turbo not working to it's full potential not broken just tired ..its free to try

Or blocked exhaust. If it has a cat - it still may be an option. but yeah - get that vac hose off, let it show real full boost 😅

Common for Toyota's to run a waste-spark setup, so two coils for a 4 cylinder, 3 for a 6 cylinder, etc. Coil packs on old Toyota's are common failure point. I have a 1G-GZE engine that would not boost and ran rich, but would idle beautifully. After replacing every sensor on the engine, I found the problem was the spark leaking out through the tubes to the spark plugs and shorting to the cylinder head, whenever the revs increased. New coil packs and spark plug leads and tubes fixed it.

Need to smoke test the inlet for leaks I think.
Need genuine maf ideally. Toyota quite sensitive to cheap shite.
Can’t you take to a specialist tuning shop for some proper diag? Must be quite a few in Japan?

Leaning wheels against the door of the Lexus seems like a bold move.

1st gear on my mk2 mr2 Turbo had a boost limiter in the ECU - also wouldn't boost properly in Neutral.

Seeing that hot air intake and aftermarket maf adaptor..
Sounds like u were having lean spot while light load/boost...
    Put back stock maf housing...
And then as for low boost, sounds like weak wastegate actuator...
If the wastegate actuator have screw adjustment, then try adjust for more preload

really wish i had the stock air filter housing to test, couldnt find one used to buy
the car also measures air in temperature there, BEFORE the intercooler....

@@dannyDC2 i am running that same blitz sus air filter kit and maf adaptor on my subaru...
And yes my car drive much better and doesnt have lean spot anymore after i put back oem maf+air filter box... 🤭😅
With that blitz on yes its driveable..and somewhat ok...but its best paired with piggyback or reflashed ecu...
But since u have new fresh maf sensor and intake piping as well new coils and spark plugs on latest video, it should be fine from now on...
Or maybe..just maybe, u can try reset the ecu by pulling the battery terminal for a couple minutes...
Then do cold start with everything electrical off...untill the rad fan cycle a few time (up to temp)
To clear up old bad afr learning from the ecu (short term fuel trim and long term fuel trim)...

People that have proper Monday to Friday jobs have more time to shop at the weekend. Perfect Japanese logic. 👍

When i started watching your video and you described the symptoms, i remembered i had a similar problem with an impreza i had years ago and i searched for ages to try and fix it and it was a hose that had a hidden split in it. Then, you showed your induction hose had a split in it, definitely change that and look for other splits. I also changed my MAF thinking it was that, but it didnt solve it until i found the split. Good luck!
