- A Helio Stallion Sighting!! Our Conversion activity for TMCX, LLC to Turbine-convert a Helio Courier H-800 has produced enough attention to attract the Courier's big brother - the extremely rare factory-turbine Helio Stallion! Thank you Ken of TMCX for facilitating this experience, even though you unfortunately could not attend. This is the first Stallion produced and the last one still flying - truly a living piece of history. CAC can't thank Larry enough for sharing this treasure with us and with the rest of the world, and TMCX and the staff here at CAC will be prepared to convert one of his other Helio Couriers with a Beast Turbine upgrade.

We used Helios in my unit in the US Army in the 1960’s - awesome airplanes!
Thanks for sharing your experience! Did your unit use the turbine Stallions? I believe some of them were turned into gunships. Or was your unit more involved with recon using the slower-flying but longer endurance Helio Couriers?
I made over 50 skydives out of a Helio Stallion (N5779N) back in the late 80s in Texas. It would take 12 skydivers up 13,000' very fast. Those were the salad days.

The pilot enjoyed pointing out the patched bullet and shrapnel holes from the airplane's time in SE Asia.

We'll eventually get some float footage of the turbine-converted Helio Courier H-800 once all of that work has been completed.
Such an amazing plane! My dad owned several Helio Couriers which are so much fun! He considered buying a Stallion back in the 1970s but it was during the oil crisis a this plane can definitely burn some fuel. But, what a performer!
We are looking to push performance over the top while maintaining a bit more reasonable fuel consumption with turbine conversion of a Helio Courier H-800 and eventually other Couriers. The gross weight of a Courier is almost 50% less than a Stallion which will greatly enhance the fun factor. That said, the Stallion sure is a neat plane and it was a special treat for it to visit.
I love it! Such a beautiful machine! If Helio, or their successors, would build a utilitarian unit like this one, I believe they would have the market cornered. Especially since Pilatus no longer builds the PC6 Turbo Porter.
TMCX and Helio AK have at least started the revival. Stay tuned for turbine conversions of various Helio Couriers. We have almost completed a conversion on an H-800 model and once flight testing is complete on that aircraft, we will start a turbine conversion on an H-700. All of this conversion activity is in preparation for Helio Alaska's Courier kit plane reproduction to start production in 2025. If those become as popular as we hope, especially with the TMCX turbine firewall forward, then maybe we can revive an even better version of this Stallion workhorse.

@@mrstinkytit Helio AK is keeping a pretty low profile for now but they do have a website www.helioak.com/ . Ken Meines of TMCX, LLC (509) 432-1442 can at least talk to those guys (why we know the 2025 target), so you might call him for more info if you are serious. Until they start churning out kits, TMCX will converting various certified models to Experimental Exhibition with the turbine conversion.
this is the plane I confused with the Pilatus Porter. I was talking to this guy about a Helio Porter and got corrected
