Once again thanks for the update and continued quest for more power. I'm really curious on how much boost the stock rod will take with conservative timing.
Warning. Those grey parker hoses can separate and the black inner tube will collapse under pressure while the grey outer cover looks fine. We use them on our water pumps at work and I've seen it fool a lot of people.
Turbo Chevelle if you take the hose off you can look through it and it looks fine. Put 40-100 psi of water flowing through the same hose and the black inner liner will collapse, fold, come loose (whatever descriptor works best), and cut flow of the water back to a trickle. All the while the outer grey part of the hose holds it's shape & looks fine. Causes our pumps to starve for flow with absolutely NO evidence of whats happening until you replace the hose and cut the old one open length ways. They also make a stiffer blue hose with a white liner that we have zero issue with.
M B like I said, it's because of suction not pressure it just doesn't work that way. Secondly you never use a non reinforced hose for the application you're describing, suction or vacuum will always collapse a non-renforced hose.
What he's talking about is when you have a flimsy hose, the flow through the hose will make like a wave or ripple. The gray shit keeps it stiff but it delaminates from the black stuff. This happens in big hydraulic hoses with flow. Look at a fire hose when they first turn it on. Same shit happens here but you can't see it.
Scott L I know what delamination is and I am also very familiar with high end hydraulic systems too. At the end of the day choosing the wrong hose for the application is not the products fault and it happens all the time.
13:00 Doesn't the ECU tell the AC to turn off at a certain RPM? Could you not rig it up to trigger a relay using the same system(assuming AC is deleted)?
I did a video on the same regulator kit last year. On mine the regulator worked great but the gauge was all over the place. Of course its china parts so its kinds hit and miss.
You could always have the Hobbs switch run two relays, one for the fuel pump and one for the boost controller. China regulator seems to be working good. Do you normally have good luck with them?
khiri brooks we have single Walbro 450's making over 800 whp. They are great pumps and we pretty much have gotten away from external pumps and use these exclusively if the build permits. I build a custom surge tank for a dual or triple set up and either will support the majority of fuel requirements anyone would ever need on the street and most track cars.
khiri brooks also if you get the 450lph make sure it is the part # ending in 274 it is the high flow e85 pump and will make 130psi at 14v. I sell a lot of these pumps, $100 to my door with connection kits included.
Martin Steflik Martin if you would like to contact me shoot me a private message and I will be glad to give you the info and visit with you. We are just getting our first prototypes finished and about to have 6 of them on moderately high horsepower street/strip vehicle builds. 4 for the 5 are going to be dual pump units and a e pump system is going on my 68 chevelle.
Are you just using standard heat shrink, or do you have a specialty product you use? Also, same thing with the butt connectors I Thought I saw a couple of on there. Or is that just yellow heat shrink?
Why yes, yes i can sir, the 12v Milwaukee is nice and light and great for light duty work while the 18v drill is a beast, they also have a hammer drill for if you want to get rowdy. Just stroll into a Home Depot and yell nothing but heavy duty till you’re drilling
I have been looking through many vids seeking concerns on ethanol being caustic and haven't found any concerns in your vids. Your tank here is a plastic while mine is a metal tank. (87 gmc squarebody) so what concerns should I have using E85? I did replace my steel fuel line and return line with braided hose that is "Compatible with synthetic lubricants, fuel, alcohol/methanol, coolant, and oil, this braided hose was developed to meet strict racing specifications."
I had the same problem with eBay fittings.. both of the -8 90 degree fittings they sent leaked. Went with a 45 degree and it was fine.. the flare was fine it was coming out at the swivel
Do you have any issues with this fuel setup driving below half a tank? I've read some people's posts about running dual 450's and they cant drive WOT below half a tank, or as a general rule of thumb fill up at 1/2 a tank which seems annoying...
Hey Matt I am fixing to start ordering all the stuff for my build on the stage 2 camshaft 228/230 seen one was computer controlled capable and the other wasn’t does this matter
Hey sloppy mechanic, I have Huron Speed building my complete hot side with black coating and am looking to get 3 or 4” in cooler colder side for my 78/75 billet wheel single turbo for my 05 5.3L Silverado and was told by vengeance racing that they refuse to work on my truck because it’s not 2014 and newer.. My truck is in mint condition and already has 660 duel beehive valve springs with titanium locks and retainers, chromoly stock size pushrods, LS7 lifters, Smith brothers trunnion upgrade, LS1 BTR stage 4 cam. Everything was brand new from Brian Tooley Racing, it also has a GM high volume oil pump, a stage 3 4L65E with a Circle D 3200-3400 stall converter. It was built almost 3 years ago and I’ve only put 8,800 miles on it and it runs perfect. I’m in Temple Ga I seriously want to do a fuel system upgrade to run 93 and E-85 and have a in cab boost controller so I can turn it up when I want to race on the street cause that’s the purpose of the truck, to be a serious street truck and see the track on occasions.. they denied to work on my truck and give me any advice where I could take it to that was trustworthy.. I love my truck Matt and I watch your channel religiously and wish I could bring it to u... I just don’t know what to do. Can u help? I’m willing to go all the way with the truck, I have cal tracs traction bar, Calvert mono leafy springs, I’m waiting on my tru trac rear diff to arrive now, truck has 3:73 gears now but with turbo should I go to 3:42 with a 4L80E with manual valve body?? I need your help Matt. I’m very picky with who I let touch my baby. Just tired of being denied by reputable shops to work on my baby without even seeing the truck! I take better care of the truck than I do myself lol. Please help!?!
Hey Matt, I waited a few weeks before asking this to give you a chance to put this setup through its paces... But, did you end up having any issues with just running both pumps all the time (amp draw, fuel temp, etc)? I'm about to do the same thing, but I have a Hobbs switch sitting here so i wanted to double check with you first. Thanks for everything! My don't b.s. me stage 2 build has been an awesome experience so far 👍
no, usually its just because they are over their optimal RPM range, the pumps are on all the time so if they were truly taxing the alt that much they would be doing it all the time
Matt, are you using the #274 450 pump? Just curious, it makes 130 psi @ 14v and is a better pump than the #264. You ever need some or have friends that do let me know $100 to the door with connection kit.
why not set your fuel regulator based on highest possible boost pressure. then let it fall static at idle so you have the right pressure at boost. ie. -3 psi intake = 48 psi fuel /20 psi intake = 71 psi fuel. you can do this with your with your fuel pump running. ie idling the motor or jumper the fuel relay on . and use your low pressure compressor regulator set to what ever your max boost psi is. ie. 20 psi . connect it to your vac port on the fuel regulator and set it to the corresponding pressure . ie. 71 psi. i thought this might be helpful because the unbranded regulators don't follow 1to1 very well and its probably more important to reach target psi than it is to have low idle pressure. constructive criticism please guru
Nathan Kelly I'm a firm believer in milwuakee, i m an electrican that depends on them every day at work. I don't see the heat gun being that great. Heating elements pull so much juice that I just can't see the battery lasting that long.
Matt, this is William Mitchell, I want to send u pictures of my truck so u can understand the total disbelief and shock I had when got denied by vengeance racing to work on my truck and then would not refer me to another reputable company that I could trust to work on my baby..
i fell asleep watching this last night so i have to rewatch this tomorrow. matt you are 10/10 in shop work ASMR.
That fuel pump chain makes me laugh every time you pull it out. So awesome!!
Proud moment when Matt threads the tape in the correct direction
Are we all gonna sit back and pretend like we didn’t just watch Matt use a power drill in each hand at 55 seconds.
That intro is lit AF.
Man ,watching the way you work gives me ideas of what to do next . not in the same build . but how you use every tool .
The opening is so funny
the music and intro made me laugh so fucking hard, I love you
The way you mixed the voice and music is perfect hahaha I was like damn!
Who's the guy that makes the billet fuel hats that you mentioned? Have any info?
Good luck on the dyno!

I like the PTFE thread sealant paste better than the tape.
I've got that same little impact. I know how you feel. It's easily one of my top 3 favorite power tools.
You could run one hot and then run the second one to kick on during boost.
So... how do people normally do multiple pumps?
13:00 Doesn't the ECU tell the AC to turn off at a certain RPM? Could you not rig it up to trigger a relay using the same system(assuming AC is deleted)?
Still no interest in a belt driven pump? Better volume and same or better price without having to keep going in and upgrading your system?
What’s used to seal up the wires coming through the hat? Looking to do something similar
What kind of hose was that to hold up to the E85? Looks cheap and effective, I need some.
I did a video on the same regulator kit last year. On mine the regulator worked great but the gauge was all over the place. Of course its china parts so its kinds hit and miss.

Matt you are commercial waiting to happen! 😂
Yeah but that music needs to go it is worst than elevator music
Yeeeess I have been waiting to see what 1 pump made before doing 2

Turbo Chevelle thanks boss that is the pump I purchased I will probably be buying another as soon as my 210s injectors come in I'll look you up
If you are selling surge tanks for the walbro pumps can you post your contact info?
Martin Steflik Martin if you would like to contact me shoot me a private message and I will be glad to give you the info and visit with you. Who is making the hats for the gas tank? Would like to do in tank pumps the biggest I found for cutlass chevelle is 3/8 ...
I'm after a good cordless drill, is there some kinda make you could maybe recommend?
:D

Mine are parker hydraulics steel fittings
ILL DECIDE THAT IN THE NEXT 5 MINUTES. Matt is my type of people.
I also never trust hob switches. Just ran mine to a switch. I flip the second one on when im going to play with fire lol
Also same regulator I have works great
Bring back the fuel pump octopus!
Do you have any issues with this fuel setup driving below half a tank? I've read some people's posts about running dual 450's and they cant drive WOT below half a tank, or as a general rule of thumb fill up at 1/2 a tank which seems annoying...
what problems would you expect from the high E content?
10 gauge would be pretty decent for each pump
No Milwaukee box cutter I carry one and like it

I like the Dr. Steve brule music.
Matt, where are you getting your 450s from?
It's on high whoopsie daisy lol, good ol Moose Happel
Hey Matt,
I waited a few weeks before asking this to give you a chance to put this setup through its paces...

I'm glad I'm not the only one to just push hose on the threads and throw a clamp on lol
I was literally just wondering when you were gonna upload
Is that the fuel pumps that drop your voltage to 12.7v. That's a crazy amount of amperage draw.
no, usually its just because they are over their optimal RPM range, the pumps are on all the time so if they were truly taxing the alt that much they would be doing it all the time
Sloppy Mechanics so does your voltage stay up while cruising and then it drops in the 12v range under hard accel?
You always seem to push a lot of boost on headbolts. Have you pushed water in the past and if so at what point?
Matt, are you using the #274 450 pump? Just curious, it makes 130 psi @ 14v and is a better pump than the #264. You ever need some or have friends that do let me know $100 to the door with connection kit.
you intro's are so badd ass bro haha your killin it
11/16 wrench, NPT fitting.
Good thing you asked, you son of a bitch! LOL...
I have the 12V Fuel impact too.. It's good stuff!
30 minutes yes papi
I kept expecting you to break into song at the beginning
How many amps does this fuel pump setup draw, I’ve watched this twice and don’t see it
Just a question, do you have anything else as a fuel guage?
nope, no gauge at all
The intro was awesome lol
Would love this setup on my ve ssv 6.0 with vcm16 cam pushing 340rwkw
blue monster tape is the best
That music soooooo faaannncccyyyy
Mattwaukee
what kind of powers can a single 450 support on premium gas?
Nice!
why not set your fuel regulator based on highest possible boost pressure. then let it fall static at idle so you have the right pressure at boost. ie. -3 psi intake = 48 psi fuel /20 psi intake = 71 psi fuel. you can do this with your with your fuel pump running. ie idling the motor or jumper the fuel relay on . and use your low pressure compressor regulator set to what ever your max boost psi is. ie. 20 psi . connect it to your vac port on the fuel regulator and set it to the corresponding pressure . ie. 71 psi. i thought this might be helpful because the unbranded regulators don't follow 1to1 very well and its probably more important to reach target psi than it is to have low idle pressure. constructive criticism please guru
biggest issue here is the 450s flow like trash over 80psi
Oh man get a nut driver for those clamps!
I was using a 1/4 inch socket so technically nut driver
I was referring to 6:53
what was that glorious muuuusic

Squidward!
What the fuck is this intro lol
How the hell is that supposed to work with them laying in the bottom of tank sideways smh lol
Well, being submerged in fuel helps.

Holy low bit rate audio!
It looks like it was my issue after all, damnit
