While you were working, I was thinking about the minds of the people who handed down this tradition to you. What were their minds like? Who made subtle changes along the way to today’s method? Did they wonder about the ways to sit down around the work, or turn their body while holding the rod along with more basic design ideas to this handmade loom to achieve more stability without giving up the authenticity of fiber and man made quality? Do the fibers fray and fly in the beginning of processing and that’s why you wear the fine mask early on?
In any case, I admire the sheerness of your finished work. Thank you for sharing your heritage with all of us.
Thank you for your kind words. Our predecessors, who cherished and passed down this tradition, also refined their skills through various improvements. They, too, have continued to hone their techniques while inheriting this spirit, striving to create beautiful works. I am delighted that we can share this heritage in this way, and I am honored by your appreciation.

I think it's great when younger people carry on >an "old" tradition
We really appreciate your great comments!
Great to know from Germany! We should protect own culture!! Please come japan to watch real one!
Have no idea how old this woman is, but she had to start learning this when she was two days old! And, she is highly intelligent to master the thread count etc. Bless her hands, and to the person/s who taught her this skill. Just outstanding and beautiful!
Thank you for watching and for the lovely comment! We also agree with your opinion.

My goodness, the process its like a ritual, from the begining to the end...a pleasure to see, and a blessing for this lady her patience, dedication and love for this ancient art...now i know why there articles are so expensive, their unique....god bless the japanese people.....
Thank you for watching and for your lovely comment. I will pass your comment on to the craftsman. Wishing you happiness from Japan.
Goodness, that is complex, and I kept saying "oh no, she has to thread it all again, doesn't she". I do like the idea of the fastener though - I may have to find a way to make one for my loom. The fabric is beautiful - love those colors together.
Thank you for watching and for the lovely comment. She is very skillful with her hands, and I was mesmerized.
Mesmerising to watch. An outstanding skill level is required to achieve such an excellent product. Enjoyed this one very much, Thank You.
Thank you for watching and for the lovely comment. We are very happy about your comment.
That was the most incredible thing I've ever seen 🥰 I had no idea there was so much time and effort into making one piece of fabric. Thank you for continuing this fantastic tradition 🥰
Thank you for watching and for your nice comments!
Even before the weaving began, the warp was so beautiful!
A wonderful result of a lot of hard work! If I were a tailor I would have a very hard time cutting this fabric. Knowing how much time and effort went into making it - I will be afraid of making a mistake.💕
Thank you for watching and for your nice comments! I agree with you!

😊Hello, I am a textile engineer( i like my profession very much) and we do industrial production in factories. I was very happy to see that you prepared the video in the traditional way. Completely manual labor, completely environmentally friendly and with natural methods is as great as it used to be. I congratulate you and wish you to continue your profession🙏🏻
Thank you for watching and for your wonderful comment! I am very happy to receive a comment from a textile engineer overseas. I wish you happiness from Japan.

Extraordinary work, done with precision and composure. My western eyes are delighted and amazed. Thank you.😮

Oh how I’d love to spend time there learning as much as they would be willing to teach me. So many crafts can be self taught, but serious weaving looks like it take a lot of learned skill, then you can develop your own skill. So interesting.

😊 I do a vastly more simple form of heddle weaving. Warping up the machine is the longest hardest and most pains taking part of that weaving. I almost never get it right the first time. Doing all that prep work first is amazing. The little marker you used to show where you were in the pattern is a good idea. I must use that.
Thank you for watching and for your wonderful comment! I would love to see your work someday. Wishing you happiness from Japan.

Beautiful traditional style house with modern conveniences. How long does it take to prepare and set up the loom? Can you picture a woman or man in traditional Japanise work dress doing this?
Thank you for watching and for your nice comments! It will take about 2-3 weeks.

Meditative work, beautiful fabric. Why are you wearing a mask??
Thank you for watching and for the lovely comment! As for the mask, there are various reasons, so I can't say for certain.

Thank you for responding. I just wanted to tell you that in Iran there’s a certain kind of fine cotton fabric that is called the same as Kodawari, at least phonetically.
