Hi Alena, I would appreciate some help with my case - I have an asylum for over 5 years now and I applied for the passport recently. I'm in a process of waiting for the interview, while I'm holding a 10 year green card.
One of my family members got very sick last month and I had to travel back to my origin country to visit my family and be with them for a short time. I'm about to travel back to US and I was wondering what will happen upon my return. Am I risking of losing my status or eligibility for a passport? Thank you in advance.
USCIS is extremely clear about that, until one becomes a US citizen returning to your native country will be considered as no longer running from any persecution and asylum will be canceled as well as any possibility of reentry in the US. How could you not have known/ verified that before making that move?
