I think the swing weights probably have a TON to do with the differences in how you all were striking these. There's a reason Ping's stock shafts are all counterbalanced. Your QI10 Max is probably at D4 while your Ping with a Ventus is probably at D6-D7, which is gonna make it feel harder to manage. If you swapped that 28g Ping weight out for a 22g, I'd bet a lot of money that these would be much, much closer for you guys. Or if you tried the G430 Max 10K with a counterbalanced shaft like the VA Nemesys or the Tensei 1K Pro Orange. I own both of these heads and play the QI10 Max because I tend to struggle with low spin with driver and it gets me consistently around 2300 RPMs. However, I honestly believe the Ping is a better driver for most people. It's lower spin and more forgiving. It just takes quite a bit more work to dial it in -- gotta work with the weight, hosel settings and have the right shaft to get the most out of it.
Exactly. You’d think club fitters might be aware of this fact. One of the big reasons Ping offers their own stock shafts, as the counterbalancing is critical to achieve a playable swing weight. Could also shorten shaft length a half inch or put on a heavier grip to achieve same results re: swing weight.
Thank you EricBradner6986 for watching and sharing. We appreciate the feedback. That is very good info for our channel to see and know. We came to the very same conclusion that the Ping is the better driver over the Qi10 max as far as spin and distance but we found that the Qi10 was more forgiving for bigger misses. Thanks for taking the time to share you comment.
And again, thanks Discr1709 for the subtle dig at our abilities and knowledge. You seem to know almost everything there is to know so we would love to see you start a youtube channel to help others with your knowledge. Thanks for watching and for the comment as usual.
Tried Taylormade, Callaway, and Ping recently and Ping was the best, for me. I could consistently get my stock fade with only a few straight pulls, but even those stayed in the grid. Then I strengthened my grip and closed my stance just a bit, and was getting baby draws and a few dead straight bombs. Nice driver. Might buy one in two years when the price comes down.
You guys talked about being in Denver, being a mile high, and I had a look into that: - you gain almost 6% distance on your mid, to long irons, and woods, due the air being less dense (aerodynamics on the golf ball). - your short irons & wedges are less affected, due to the launch angle and descent angle having a bigger influence.
That is very good info, and info that we feel is dead on! We play a lot at sea level with our parents being in California now. Wedges, makes very little difference with yardage. Driver & Woods is obviously the most and long irons are effected somewhere in between. Thanks for sharing MaartenAnna 🙌🏼
My experience with the Ping 10K was it really reduced the number of drives that I would take left. On average I hit about 1/3 of my drives hard left and a swing that would normally leave me 30- 50 yards left was only 10 -25 with the Max 10K. You guys experienced it wanting to go left, but I was having a hard time making it go left. I was intentionally trying to hit a shot that would go hard left and I was still leaving it on the fairway.
That’s good feedback. I truly believe there is no such thing as “this is the #1 driver period”. It’s not a one size fits all. Hence why fittings are so important!
Tested both at my local AG and just couldn't get on with the Qi10. As someone with an average head speed of 110 and ball speed of 160, I found that the Qi10 was a bit unruly and I just couldn't control the face. On the filp side, the G430 Max 10K with the Kali'li stiff (28g weight in the head) was perfect. I tend to have an outside to in swing path, which even with center hits will cause a snap slice, so the PING caused me to slow down ever so slightly. This in turn led to a much more neutral swing path and everything went dead straight with around 275 + 15 roll out. Consistency and dispersion were so much better with the PING. I wanted to love the Qi10 (having been a Taylormade gamer for putter, irons and driver for years) but it just wasn't for me this time around. I would agree with the assessment that the PING definitely suits strikers with a fade / slice bias as it'll draw shots back into the left side. I could definitely see that a neutral or draw bias golfer would likely start encouraging hooks with the PING and would be suited to a fade bias driver. If we were all the same there wouldn't be a need for fitting after all!
Great video gents! I did not test the Qi10 when I got fitted for my Mizuno STZ 230, had the opportunity this past weekend to hit my buddies and all I can say is WOW! I love my 230 but I will say the Qi10 is more forgiving, just wants to go straight! I hit 10 fairways dead nuts in a row! Thought maybe it was just a good driving day but went out Monday to my local shop to test it again and the results were the same I experienced on the course. Got my wheels spinning now….. Hard to pass up a driver that is that forgiving when you don’t have your best stuff! May have to put the mizzy st max up against the Qi10! Thanks guys for the awesome reviews for us average Joe’s!!! Greatly appreciated!!
Great video Guys. I have been using the stock shaft g425 since it came out with great results considering my swing inconsistencies as a mortal passionate weekend warrior. Of course the thought of more distance and forgiveness is appealing so I tried my buddy’s stock g430max 10k and put two balls in the woods on the left straight out the gate on a day I was striping my g425. I thought my 425 would be replaced with another ping driver a couple of years down the road but now, thanks to your video, i am excited to try demoing a Taylormade Qi max driver. As you guys have pointed out. Drivers that keep non pros in the fairway with good distance are rare game changing. I was once a Ping loyalist. I opened up my bag to other brands my scores improved. Driver ping 3 Wood taylormade stealth 2 Hybrids taylormade and cobra Irons ping Wedges ping and cleveland Putter cleveland hb soft. Thanks for all the videos and reviews. You guys contributed to my current my golf scores and fun level. How about that cleveland hywood?
Thanks for sharing and for watching Joshua! Your experience helps us and our viewers. The cleveland Hywood feel great and are forgiving for sure. But they are not the furthest club out there by any means.
Fantastic vid boys. I’m in the market for a driver this year and these two were on my short list. Now just one is. Super helpful. Keep up the great work 👍
@@embersgolf Interesting, hit them all and wound up in a Cobra Aerojet. Fantastic driver. That the price just dropped with the release of the Darkspeed by $200 didn’t hurt my feelings either
I hit both the QI 10 max and G430 10k and like the look and feel of the QI 10 better, but consistently hit the ping better so went with the ping. My swing speed is slower than you guys (96-100 mph) and I have a power fade. Interesting seeing how different our results were.

Even if you look at steeper swingers like John Daley and Freddy couples they use ping drivers. But obviously have to try it all and get fit.
I've tried the Ping (Vs my Stealth 2 +). I will say it's a little more consistent in distance, but I can't stop hitting it right. There are no adjustments to make it draw biased. Can't put more heel weight/ Can't go upright, only way to close the face is to raise the loft, when I need lower loft. Back to my Stealth 2+ I guess.
hit a ton of drives with both of these (and the Smoke). Ping was easily the best. Oddly though - hit the max (not 10k) best and went with that. been crushing the drives on my SIM since...
Ping still keeping up ball speed and efficiency despite a lot of heel strikes, compared to better strikes with the TaylorMade. Both great drivers. It just goes to show that the best driver for anyone is the one that they find the middle of the face with! Nice review, fellas.
Tried both at the same time at the store walked away with the Ping. The forgiveness imo is just too huge. A good choice anyway as I matched it with my 430 hybrids after I sold the all Stealth 2 everything which was crap.
Yeah we agree, you cant go wrong with either option. But the key is to hit them yourselves to see what works better for each persons swing. Thanks for watching and sharing 👍
@@embersgolf The funny thing is when I went to the shop to pick up the Ping 10k I went to get the Mizuno 230 Max after trying it out a few times. I may just like the Mizuno better based on the performance vs the Ping.
I did the same test between the two clubs. I walked away with the Ping in my bag. It performed much better than the Taylormade. Best distance, lowest spin, smash of 1.48 Ping vs 1.42 Qi10, tighter dispersion with Ping. Interestingly, I notice from your review, the difference was most likely club head speed. My avg speed is 92-95mph. Yours is 104+. Seems like above 100mph Qi10 is better, below 100mph the Ping is better.
Great review guys and agree the Taylormade is the best I’m playing Stealth 2 HD best driver I’ve ever had so the new one should be great the Taylormade is about $70 cheaper too.
Hit them both, had the ping for 4 rounds returned it and tried the TMmax yesterday 24 holes 🕳️ could not get over the forgiveness on my misses, and as for these 2 funny guys, I watch these guys and put phone down only to laugh 😂 about the grammar being said. Without a doubt pings driver is for the better striker and the maxs is for the weekend hack because my natural fade has turned in to a straight to mini draw
I tried all the Ping G430 drivers with the same shaft, and the LST was the tightest dispersion. The Max was left all day long, and the 10k was too heavy. LST was so much better than my G425 LST.
I think it was the angle he was holding them because when he sets them down just a couple seconds after they sit at the same height. Thanks for watching 👍
I think the black ops is a 10000 k driver in one setting I believe Is right. I believe the black ops and dark speed are the best looking drivers this year. I like the pxg the sound is different this year it’s a crack
I got the 0311 gen 5 a couple of months back. I play it in a HZRDUS blue RDX 6.0 stiff shaft, 11.5 degrees loft, and 12.5grams in the heel, with 2.5 in the rear and toe. Love it! I get between 12-16 degrees launch angle, with 2800-2200rpm spin at 95mph clubhead speed. Efficiency is usually between 1.42 to 1.48, which leads to 220-235 carry. At my age, that’s pretty awesome. 😎
Don't get me wrong.. I love a good golf club review as much as the next guy.. But they don't represent my game and the game of the average weekend golfer.. I've played with my fair share of different drives and I have to say the G430 Max 10k with the counter balanced shaft is by far the most forgiving club I've ever swung.. I hit 95% of my fairways and started and finished with same golf ball.. 14 Handicap.. Swing speed 95-100..I also noticed that I had to tee it up a little higher..
My pro let me hit (inside) the Qi10 Max and i was impressed I need to hit it out at he range to be sure. I get a new driver every 8 or 9 years. $599.00. Is crazy, I'm also looking at the Cobra Aerojet, thoughts?
The Aerojet is a Fantastic Driver especially at that price they have it at right now. But if you only get a new driver every 8 years or so, I would try as many as you can and get the one that fits you the best. Then it will last the longest. If the aerojet wins, that would be the best case scenario! Thanks for watching 🙌🏼
I play the G430 max n played the stealth n I feel like the ping was way better but now I wonder how the Ai smoke will play against the G430 max and Qi 10
The entire QI10 line was absolute trash for me. The Ping was so much better. I wouldn’t even put the two drivers in the same league & I’m a TM guy over a Ping guy all day.
@@embersgolf 100%. The QI10 max was spinning way to much & was considerably shorter than the 10k. The QI10 LS produced better numbers for me than the max, but was still shorter than the 10k & much less forgiving. I do have a much higher swing speed than y’all & am a 6 handicap just to give some perspective. However, all of the guys I play golf with have had the same results as me. I think the Ping is the next step in Driver tech (low spin & forgiving) that every brand will try to replicate & improve on over the next 5yrs.
@@embersgolf you guys are awesome! Love your videos. Im an 8 handicap I'm not sure on driver yet probably TSR or max 10k going to hit them this weekend. But maybe the TaylorMade now after that video. For irons you guys convinced me on the 243 Mizunos. I was also considering t150. I have vokey wedges already.
Nice! I think you have some really solid options you are looking at. Youll have to at least hit the Qi10 and see what you think of it. Those 243's are no joke, so smooth 🙌🏼 Thanks for the support Ryan, we really appreciate it 🙏 Let us know what you end up in or if we can help at all.
@@embersgolf Roger Dunn is having a discount this weekend that is what is inspiring me to get a new set. What's your guys's turn around time on orders I live in California. My swing speed is about 118 mph I believe I'm like a 6.5 in my shaft with 130 g is what my shaft is supposed to be. As you said in the video My miss is to the right so the max might help me out. Yeah you guys are awesome you inspire me to do the same thing with my buddy be cool to talk golf and do videos all day.
We have several heads in stock right now for the Qi10 and have the full matrix of Ventus and Tour AD shafts so if you new one we could make it and ship it asap. Or we can see what would fit you for shaft also.
So having both on course for a while now… The Ping is not for hookers (left hitters 😂)… it’s definitely more left biased. The TM is definitely more neutral in flight and does a better job of stabilising flight. For me, TM is a much better option
I mean, if you feel bad for people who bought the 430 Max last year, then wouldn’t you also have to feel bad for someone who bought the Stealth 2 last year?
mmmm you have me intrigued i have the Stealth 2 HD Driver and wonder if i should upgrade mmmm what to do what to do ? great review well done cheers from Vulcan Canada
Stick with your Stealth 2. One generation of any model doesn’t typically create measurable differences, especially if you think of how little you’ll get for your Stealth2 and how much the Qi10 costs.
Hey Golf Addict, I would see if you can get to a hitting event or try one out first. If you gain a lot with it, it may be worth looking in to. But if its minimal gain you could wait and see what they drop next season or when they lower the price this time next year. Your stealth 2 HD should be just as fast speed wise, it will most likely just be forgiveness that you gain. Let us know what you think if you do try it out 🙌🏼
Pretty sad to see you using the same shaft that fits the Taylormade perfect, we all know thats the shaft is half the game with a driver and the ping is heavier.. So I think thats the wrong setup for you. But I had my fitting with it and a consistens Smash factor at 1,49 10 out of 10 fairways with the shaft from ping (Tour 2,0 Grey)
See I’m a higher speed player and the ping is way better spins at 2200-2500 ball speeds are high and literally hit the same fade The taylormade span at 3500-4000 ball speeds were lower and it sits soo closed at address it was horrible
Why would you think that, since 10,000 MOI means greater head stability on off-center hits, which better players do far less often. It’s actually way BETTER for an average golfer. Physics.
We are huge Ping fans and have both played the G425 and G430 on a lot of courses so we feel like we were very true to our feelings on this new Max model. Thanks for watching and sharing Jarold 👍
9 minutes in and all they did was hate on the Ping and drool over the TM. They hadn’t even hit 1 shot yet. Showing a heavy bias early and the Ping never had a fair shot.
The ping G430 max is a better comparison to the qi10 max 10k. The g430 max is way more forgiving than the 10k based on the spin model. You guys clearly havent done your research before posting this video. The pings in order of forgiveness from least to most_ LS, 10k, max, SF.
@embersgolf Wow, you guys really are as stupid as your videos suggest 😂 I still found the videos entertaining so will probably continue to watch, the accuracy of your info is no different than 99% of TH-cam golfers.
You can tell you don't carry or sell ping clubs. your test was biased. It was very easy to see that. I understand promote the brands you carry. I just don't believe your "result " so I won't be following your chanel

A lot of them are great. Taylormade PXG and cobra
I think you may be right Nick, I was almost positive when we shot the video that one of there models was at that 10k mark! Thanks for sharing guys 🎉
Road trip!
Thank you for sharing, that feedback helps us and our viewers and there experiences. Thanks for watching and for sharing that 👌
That Qi10 carry seems high for 151 ball speed and 3000 spin
They are from Colorado and play at local altitude so that could explain it
Yeah Logan nailed it. We are at 5200 ft in elevation here so we would lose %15-%20 of that distance at sea level. Thanks for watching John & Logan 👍
I game the Aerojet and gained 4-5 mph ball speed vs my old Radspeed XB. Also quite forgiving!
I’m torn between the TM Qi 10 Max, and the Mizuno ST Max, don’t like the looks and sound of the ping
The new mizuno Max review will be coming soon so stay tuned for that 🙌🏼
@@embersgolf looking forward to it, the reviews so far of it are all excellent
Id go with the st-max.
you guys are the best golfclub reviewers....thank you!
Wow, thanks! We really appreciate that support 🙏🎉
Great review! I’m going to buy one of them
Thanks for watching Larry 🙌🏼
just ordered a whole taylormade setup QI 7w & driver 5 hybrid & P770s haha
Nice! That has to be one of the Best Looking bags in the Game today! 🔥🔥🔥
One thing i have to have to hit good drives and iron and putts is sound all the new drivers just are dull miss all titanium drives
Thanks for sharing and watching Shane 👍
I play the G430 max n played the stealth n I feel like the ping was way better but now I wonder how the Ai smoke will play against the G430 max and Qi 10
You read our mind! That video is on the schedule to shoot! Stay tuned 🙌🏼
Nice video Gents! I’ll have to check them out! 🙌
Yeah you do!
Why hasnt a golf club manufacturer had a max driver with a changable weight for the rear
Because once the weight is out of the rear it’s not a max anymore
The entire QI10 line was absolute trash for me. The Ping was so much better. I wouldn’t even put the two drivers in the same league & I’m a TM guy over a Ping guy all day.
Really? Very interesting! Thanks for sharing Joey
Great video
Thanks George 🙏
One of your best videos yet . Data don’t lie, and this video proves it.
Thank you Chet! We appreciate it 🎉
I'm buying a driver this weekend lol. Any chance your top ten is coming out in the next few days lol I'm leaning 430 max right now
Shoot no, sorry. We still have a few to test before we shoot the top 10 video. Sorry Ryan. What is your top few you have your eyes on now?
Right there with you 🙌🏼
Ping has the Max, Max 10k, LST and SFT.
That's right. Thanks for sharing 👌
You played the 9 degree loft head?
Trevor has his at to 9* to try and keep the ball flight lower. Tayte has a 10.5*. Thanks for watching 👍
I mean, if you feel bad for people who bought the 430 Max last year, then wouldn’t you also have to feel bad for someone who bought the Stealth 2 last year?
Smoke max or ping?
As of right now probably the Callaway, it was very forgiving but stay tuned for our Top 5 video coming soon. Thanks for watching and commenting Ryan.
G400 Max was 9,900 MOI. Pretty damn close anyway
Thanks for sharing, that is good to know 👍
not even close o nike sound ping sounds basically the same
Thanks for sharing and watching 👍
G400 hit 10K years ago but it was not fast.
Very good fact to know. Thanks for sharing 👍
Ping G400 max was the first 10K driver 😉 oh, and by the way, Rick Shiels is not an elite ball striker by any stretch of the imagination 😂😂
mmmm you have me intrigued i have the Stealth 2 HD Driver and wonder if i should upgrade mmmm what to do what to do ? great review well done cheers from Vulcan Canada
Let us know what you think if you do try it out 🙌🏼
@@embersgolf sounds good thx guys
@@discr1709 true good point thx...
Can't go wrong with either. I got the Ping due to its more forgiveness but the new Qi10 is leap years better than my Stealth 2 HD which I hated.
Shoot i just bought the 10k ping
I think Tayte is loosing weight! Nice bro!!!!
Im trying Trey! Gotta get in shape for some big course Vlogs we have coming up! 🙌🏼🎉
@@embersgolf Looking good brotha!
Were you guys using the same shaft on both club heads? If not this testing for any driver yall do won’t be accurate
Yeah, same shafts and weights for both clubs in this video. Thanks for watching Alex
Thank you for sharing your experience. That will help ones going between these two options. We appreciate the feedback 👍
You can’t go wrong with a Ping! Looks and sound don’t matter to me!
It is a solid driver. Thats for sure! Thanks for watching 👍
See I’m a higher speed player and the ping is way better spins at 2200-2500 ball speeds are high and literally hit the same fade
The taylormade span at 3500-4000 ball speeds were lower and it sits soo closed at address it was horrible
That is good feedback Steve, thanks for watching and sharing 👍
The 10000 k drivers help fast swing players and pros way more that the average golfers thou
Yeah, that is a good point to remember 👍
Why would you think that, since 10,000 MOI means greater head stability on off-center hits, which better players do far less often. It’s actually way BETTER for an average golfer. Physics.
@@discr1709 I don’t think it. I know it. Swing speed matter. Pull up average golfer review, Matt fryer ,
The sound is real... PINGY... you don't say lol
Lol!
Interesting takes and content when coupled with the fact you don’t fit for/sell Ping
We are huge Ping fans and have both played the G425 and G430 on a lot of courses so we feel like we were very true to our feelings on this new Max model. Thanks for watching and sharing Jarold 👍
Out of breath after 3 swings. Get in shape bro
Thanks Bilbo, we appreciate the watch and the feedback. 👌
9 minutes in and all they did was hate on the Ping and drool over the TM. They hadn’t even hit 1 shot yet. Showing a heavy bias early and the Ping never had a fair shot.
Sorry you felt that way. Thanks for giving the video a chance.
Overpriced drivers and trade in is a joke
👍🏼😂🤣😂
Thanks for watching 👍
The ping G430 max is a better comparison to the qi10 max 10k. The g430 max is way more forgiving than the 10k based on the spin model. You guys clearly havent done your research before posting this video. The pings in order of forgiveness from least to most_ LS, 10k, max, SF.
Thanks for sharing Matty. Maybe on paper you are right. But after trying both, We disagree with you. But appreciate your perspective.
Sorry to see you go. Watch our other channels for 15 years and you will see our integrity. But we will sell out for money right??
Who gives 2 shits about "looks"?
😂😂😂 the swings on these guys. X flex on the little 🤡🤡🤡. They would both do better in stock shafts.
Nope. Thanks for watching 👍
Just been fitted for a new driver, expecting to buy the callaway, out of all the drivers the Qi10 max unbelievable consistency , every round I loose 2/3 drives costing 6 to 8 shots, cannot wait to get on the course 💥🏌🏻♂️
Love it! Thanks for sharing Shaun 🙏
