      Bought one 2 weeks ago. Love it. Looks are not great, but EVERYTHING else is awesome. Very flickable, feels like a 600. Of course the motor is awesome. Tweaking mine to make it look better to match the performance. Bar risers, windscreen and rear sets establish a very comfy riding position. Love it

    I’ve had mine since 2010, bought it new from the dealer. The B stands for Boost, supposedly there was going to be a turbo boost mounted on the engine to give it even more power if you can believe it. You can buy the after market turbo kit for it but I can’t imagine this beast faster than it is now! I installed a V-storm windshield on mine and has made a world of difference for traveling for highway speeds. Your neck is not killing you between gas stops. I’ll be holding on to mine as long as I can. It’s a beast for sure and handles very well. If you search on TH-cam, you can find a couple of videos with a few people that have installed the aftermarket turbo, if they’re still here.

    • @Maroon_Brick
      @Maroon_Brick ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The concept in 1999 was supercharged. And Suzuki didn't like the liability. The world was still complaining about speed so the supercharger was scrapped by time they finally made the bike

    This bike is insanely fast. I have to tame it all the time. I used to ride it to work thru NYC traffic and the brakes on this thing is phenomenal! Helps me split in and out of traffic but rarely lets me test out the power. Now that I ride to work (Texas), I can really open this thing up on the expressway. Especially when I'm pulling onto the entrance ramp. I used to run it on the softest tires I could find in NYC (shorter commute) and now I run it on soft front and medium rear in Texas (same commute time but mainly highways). Run this bike on the softest tires if you really want to take advantage thru the corners.

    It's hands down the best motorcycle I've ever owned!!! I test rode it a few times, and I just had to buy one. It's comfortable, and makes crazy torque... and it "Feels" much smaller than it is. With good tires, I carve canyon roads better that my buddies can. (one is on a GSX1000) But like you said... it will kill you if you don't respect it. It's like a trained lion. Treat it right, and it will do everything you want. Disrespect it once... and it will kill you. But OMG... a second gear pull on a nice day, and it will get you well past 100 mph in a couple seconds, and put a grin on your face that you can't shake. BUT... since it's pre-traction control... just watch for that front end to stay on the road. Even in 4th... get on the throttle fast, and you will be hanging the front tire at 120 mph. (without clutching) GREAT BIKE !!!!

    I ride this bike as a skinny 19 year old. it turns a lot of heads and becomes the centre of attention at every bike night i've gone to. The main issue isn't the power of the bike, it actually comes in very handy for getting out of the way in the event of a possible collision, the battle you'll have is the mental control to not be silly because this bike...it will hit 90 in first. I think that says enough!

    I own one and love it. Nothing like it. Been riding all my life and had many different bikes from mini bikes to Ducati’s.
    This thing is a beast and that’s putting it mildly. I had a guy on a CBR 1000 at the light wanting to race and he didn’t know what had happened when the light turned green!
    A lot of people don’t realize what the heck it is or the power it has, they just want to race. I’ve never been beaten yet by any bike or sports car.
    Don’t get this unless you have a good grip and know how to stop. This is my need for speed bike. I have a grandpa bike (95 Honda GW, haha) and an BMW R1200RT for travels and great fuel mileage.
    I am however thinking of maybe selling her one day. I really should be driving the grandpa bike.

    Well... I'm glad my kneecaps are intact. I have a B King, and not only is she my first bike, but I had zero riding experience when I bought her (not including the seat time for my motorcycle endorsement class I took 5 years before purchase.) I learned to ride on her, and i will admit, for the first 2 weeks, when that red light turned green, I would instinctively try to reach up to my left shoulder for the nonexistent seat belt. I can tell you this, the most valuable lesson that she wont EVER let you forget... never lose respect for the machine. 6 years and over 50,000 miles later, I still haven't lost the terrifying joy every time I take her on the road. I definitely want another one, and I'm planning to move up to PA next year. Who knows? Maybe I'll get really lucky! I bought one new in 07, liked it so much I bought a second one used. The second one I played the custom game and changed the exhaust and put on some metallic red almost maroon paint on some panels. Looked good. Subtle. The stock one the dealer had lowered it for me since I stand just 5-7 stretched, and lowering it made it perfect. This review says it is big and wide. I never had that impression when I rode it. Had it all the way to the governed 158 and it was in 4th. Will do it in 5th, and from a review I read speed drops off in 6th because of the way the governor is configured. I traded them both for a Slingshot. The 2015 Sling was nice, and I drove it everywhere, but I wish I had kept one of those B Kings. My boys did not so much care for them because they said it was no fun (?) to ride a bike that you KNOW can outrun everyone without effort. They liked bikes that are slower, like a Triumph Twin that you have to work with to keep up or beat other guys. I can relate to that, but it's still nice to be King, on a B King.

I still have a magazine here that did a thorough test on the B King and it did 0-60 in 2.9, and the quarter at 9.9 at 139 plus. They thought it might be quicker in the 1/4 than the Busa because slightly lighter but they didn't make a comparo. Also, the wide tank is not a tank. That's the air intake. Went from a very modded k6 750 and a k1 busa to this and jeez it rides so much better.. I'm 5'8 -5'10 170 depending on which 7-11 I leave.
    The gsxr used to kill my wrist and busa was just too long.
    Tuned. Deleted. Cat delete. Air box mod. Yoshi exhaust.
    It gets 30-35 mpg max... My busa would get 45+ all day
    Has a very easy balance on one wheel also throws it weight around well.
    After all the mods vs my 750 at 60 roll they will stay neck and neck
    Under that the torque will destroy the 750.
    All in all if you love sport bikes but the gsxr is starting to hurt and you are not the 200/6ft required for the busa this is a awesome bike

    I did a test ride on a b-king. I was not ready for the power. Just a casual roll on the throttle in 3rd pulls the front wheel. You can just hover it an inch off the pavement as you keep rolling on the power. My face hurt from grinning too hard.

    The BMW K1200R and K1300R were the only real competitors at the time. The only similar new mass production bike is the Kawasaki Z H2. The B-King and K1300R weren't UJMs, naked sports bikes like most of the "super nakeds" or purpose built like the KTM 1290 Super Duke. They were naked "Hyper Bikes" and sports tourers (weighted heavily towards sports). The Z H2 being essentially a naked H2 SX puts it in the same class.

      Do you still love the BKing a year later? Im curious because im thinking about adding one. Ive been riding a nicely modded gen1 FZ1 with 151rwhp (@4500') and love the look of the BKing. Is it truly comfortable on long rides? Can you get off the seat through the turns when riding aggressively? How is the wind at speed?

    • @MaRio_1400
      @MaRio_1400 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@j.thomas7128 Well I think this bike is a completely different caliber compared to the Fazer. I know people who call it an allround bike. Also suitable for long journeys. My buddy has traveled half of europe with it. For me personally that doesn't apply. I bought it as a fun bike for short, quick trips. It has meanwhile been optimized, now with 185 whp and a completely different engine-characteristic it is no longer really suitable for journeys over 3 hours.
      You can do everything with her that you can do with a hyper sport bike. Hanging-off included. It has upper-class chassis components out of the box. Correctly adjusted and with the correct tires fitted, it is a race track monster and can easily keep up with much lighter racing motorcycles. I have never regretted buying them.
      However, you should drive it with a clear head, otherwise you will regret it. The most brutal in-line four-cylinder I know. And at the same time the one with the widest rev-range.
      Oh...the wind... Well, it is a naked bike. Speeding above 130-150 kmh up to 280 are possible. Until your neck breaks.

    • @j.thomas7128
      @j.thomas7128 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MaRio_1400 Thank you for your response. I was concerned given how wide the bike is that you had to stay planted on the seat and limited to less than 30 degrees of lean. Glad to hear from a rider that this is not true. I have a sport tourer that I'll never give up (it's too much fun dusting liter bikes on a sleeper with panniers and top bag) and a KTM 950sm (for general mayhem), but wanted to add something similar a naked muscle bike like a V-Rod or V-Max, but love the styling of ther BKing. What kind of mods did you do to get 185 whp? What's the best site or forum to connect with folks that love their BKings to learn more about them?

    • @MaRio_1400
      @MaRio_1400 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@j.thomas7128 I am on a german BK forum. I don't know if that's interesting for you (www.b-king-forum.eu). I also have no idea of an English-speaking forum - sorry.
      I had the machine at a german tuner last year who made various modifications to the cylinder head and the injection mapping. Since then it's been a different motorcycle. Actually it is very smooth to drive in the low revs ... now it is no longer below 3000'. But from 7000' it becomes a monster. I also changed the sprockets from 18-43 to 17-46. The acceleration (which was anything but bad before) is now brutal.
      I still drive a GSX1400 for the longer rides. Even with full luggage and my lady on the seat. That a completely different story. But it's also a completely different engine. V-Rod? V-Max? Forget it. You can't compare them to the King. It's a much sportier ride on the Suzi. If my smartphone is telling the truth, I sometimes tilted 45 degrees and above last summer. No problem with the right tires fitted and a lot of riding experience.
