She asked permission from her mother and grandma if she go over to talk to the little girl. They had a conversation and Angelina found out the girl's parent were dead and the girl didn't own any shoes. Angelina took her shoes off and gave them to the little girl. There is much more to the story but, in the end, Angelina told her mom and grandma she would no longer sing in public with shoes on because she felt so sorry for the little girl and didn't want to ever forget her and also realize there are so many children in the world who need help. Btw, she wrote a book about that incident at 9 years old when she was living in Norway and she is Norway's youngest published author in Norway's history. In the description on the video, for this performance, on Angelina's Official TH-cam channel, she writes "So here it is, We recorded this yesterday with amazing orchestra KORK. My version of "Back to Black by Amy Winehouse" I had 1 day to change the lyrics, hope you like my version!" She was 10 years old. The story has been told, that her mother, Sara, read the original lyrics, the day before the recording session and then told Angelina she couldn't sing them. KORK, had rehearsed the song, so Angelina had to write lyrics to fit the music and she nailed it, beautifully. There is a news feature video from NRK TV in Norway, where Angelina, her family and a couple friends visit a amusement park and are interviewed. Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman. Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on TH-cam. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. This large studio we are in here is Store studio, an institution in Norwegian broadcasting history. Sir, KORK is the Norwegian radio orchestra and they are well respected. So a ten year old plays with one of the most respected orchestras in Scandinavia. Funfact is, THEY felt honored to play with their National Treasure, ok, in USA that means nothing, in Europe and in her country it means, she is something like a noble woman, highly praised. She was 10 doing this. And, when she was younger (6 years old) she encountered a little girl about her age sitting on a curb with her legs stretched out. The girl's feet were bloody and scratched. She asked permission from her mother and grandma if she go over to talk to the little girl. They had a conversation and Angelina found out the girl's parent were dead and the girl didn't own any shoes. Angelina took her shoes off and gave them to the little girl. There is much more to the story but, in the end, Angelina told her mom and grandma she would no longer sing in public with shoes on because she felt so sorry for the little girl and didn't want to ever forget her and also realize there are so many children in the world who need help.
Btw, she wrote a book about that incident at 9 years old when she was living in Norway and she is Norway's youngest published author in Norway's history. It is her tribute to her deceased grandfather whom passed in 2018. We have confirmation of Angelina's genius. In the description on the video, for this performance, on Angelina's Official TH-cam channel, she writes "So here it is, We recorded this yesterday with amazing orchestra KORK. My version of "Back to Black by Amy Winehouse" I had 1 day to change the lyrics, hope you like my version!" She was 10 years old.
The story has been told, that her mother, Sara, read the original lyrics, the day before the recording session and then told Angelina she couldn't sing them. KORK, had rehearsed the song, so Angelina had to write lyrics to fit the music and she nailed it, beautifully.
There is a news feature video from NRK TV in Norway, where Angelina, her family and a couple friends visit a amusement park and are interviewed. The latter part of the video shows Angelina in a car, reviewing her new lyrics to this song, on her way to the recording session. She only needed a couple takes to make this final video. Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman.
Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on TH-cam. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz.
Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage.
Why Angelina always performs barefoot At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate.
At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition and was not performed in front of an audience. In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them. In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”. Angelina had become a star in her native Norway and her videos on TH-cam went viral. She gave a few concerts during the summer of 2014 while 8 years old. The surviving members of Queen loved it so much they put a link to it on their Twitter. Angelina was eliminated after covering Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”. Angelina’s family refused to sign any agreement with AGT. Angelina, before age 14, had covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 genres, all of which are available on TH-cam. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. On May 16, 2024, the first fruits of Angelina's cooperation with Tobi Gad were released. This German composer and record producer based in Los Angeles invited Angeline to an intimate concert at the Hotel Cafe JESSE & FRIENDS, the same one where Adel sang and was discovered. Tobi then took Angelina to London, where she performed His song If I Were A Boy at the London Palladium, and they recorded two versions of the song, Live At Saint James Church, and another studio version illustrated with a film from the streets of London. It seems that Tobi has started cooperation with Angelina and there are several joint songs in the pipeline. At the May concert in Los Angeles, one of them was presented: BAD VALENTINE.

Sir, KORK is the Norwegian radio orchestra and they are well respected. So a ten year old plays with one of the most respected orchestras in Scandinavia. Funfact is, THEY felt honored to play with their National Treasure, ok, in USA that means nothing, in Europe and in her country it means, she is something like a noble woman, highly praised. When last year for the NOBEL PEACE PRIZE ceremony she was invited to sing, it was naturally to let her (17) arrange the whole performance.

Angelina edited the lyrics because of the adult subject matter not being appropriate for young children. It’s been said she edited the lyrics on the ride to the recording session. Hence the reason why you see her put her page of edited lyrics in front of her as she was singing.

Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes.
Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina replied, whenever she goes on stage to sing, she will be barefoot to remind her of her new friend, and all other children like her.
Angelina never learned the orphan's name but called her Princess. The orphan girl replied, "princesses live in castles, we live in ruins". Angelina titled her song about this story, "Princess of Ruins".
Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East.
