    Looks really compact, I'm sure it's a blast at the track. My problem with the new R/XR is that I feel BMW did not improve them enough to make 1st gen owners want to switch. No shiftcam, same mirrors, roughly same electronic options, didn't cure the vibrations, etc.

    Regarding compression/rebound adjustment (@3:00): the website refers to the standard (non-DDC) suspension. Of course when you purchase the optional DDC suspension for the sake of having a suspension that constantly adapts compression and rebound to the ever changing environment of road riding, you cannot adjust it manually anymore.

      Hi Max, is it possible to have dealership alter the factor settings for rider weight to further customise this or is this already taken care of by the electronics some how through measurement of force induced by rider weight?? I heard that the factory weight setting is 75-90kg. My weight with gear would be 105kg. Can this be adjusted?? Thanks.

    • @Bikemax99
      @Bikemax99 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rhyseee7721 "it depends". DDC stands for "Dynamic Damping Control", and that's what it does - it controls the rate of compression and rebound damping. It cannot change spring rate (as a few BMWs with Dynamic ESA do) or spring preload (as most BMWs with Dynamic ESA do). The DDC suspension has a sensor for rear wheel movement and tries to match the damping inside the fork and rear shock to the prevalent swingarm movement and frequency.
      For starters, simply long-press the suspension button to switch from one rider load to two riders. It will bias the damping to the stiffer side of riding. It will not, however, add preload or spring rate. If you still feel like you need stiffer springs, you could always swap them. The forks and rear shock are identical with the RR, so there is a huge amount of track-focused stiffer springs out there. I think even stock RR springs are 10% stiffer, but I'm not entirely sure.

      @@Bikemax99 thanks again max, so is there a way to adjust the pre- load? Or is this is set internally?

    • @Bikemax99
      @Bikemax99 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@rhyseee7721 you can adjust preload with a wrench of course. But adding preload does not make any suspension stiffer. However, in combination with stiffer damping bias from the two-up setting it might keep you away from the fork's bump stops when braking really, really hard at the track

      max, that’s what I was kind of curios about… I test rode the sport yesterday but couldn’t see where Pre-load could manually change don the forks or the rear shock.. I’ll pay a little more attention when I see it next!! Cheers

    I picked up a 23’ S1000R. First mod were the side mirrors from the M1000R. Broad shoulders so the original ones were almost useless. The M1000R mirrors are so much better and make the bike look much sharper. Not much midrange but top end on these bike are ridiculously fun as are the wheelies.

    I don't know about this new model, but mine has 3 preload adjustments and 2 damping adjustments, road and dynamic. All controlled by buttons. There's no way to adjust compression and rebound separately. No complaints, though.
    I hate the idea of rev limiters, it's complete bs imo. You know why they do it.

    So the DOT requires us to have hideously large turn signals in the US, but they don't require us to have working brake lights when the hazards are on? Makes sense.

  • @Fearless154
    @Fearless154 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It's an unpopular opinion but I think BMW is the most mediocre "premium" brand out there. The build quality and fit and finish kinda suck for the price of their bikes. I've ridden my buddy's s1000rr m package and the bike looks so cheap with crappy plastics which will be odd to see on gsxr1000 let a lot on 20k European bike.
    And don't let me start talking about their middle-level bikes.
    The new s1000r feels uninspiring to me they didn't add anything to make it stand out or worth choosing s1000r over other supernakeds, I'm sure it's a great bike to ride but pretty everything in this category rides great.

    • @MADLITS1K
      @MADLITS1K 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It’s a motorcycle.. fairings are plastic with stickers on all bikes what are you going on about? Lol aluminum gas tank, swing arm and frame.. the bike is a animal side by side most other bikes, sounds insane and has all the creature comforts.. u rode one S1K and have no idea what you’re talking about lol

    • @Fearless154
      @Fearless154 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MADLITS1K
      You know not all plastics made the same, you can buy Chinese aftermarket fairings or OEM and the build quality is different.
      There is no excuse to put the Chinese aftermarket level of fairings on a 20k plus superbike.
      Even cheaper bikes like r1 and the new zx10r have higher quality fairings and better fit and finish overall.
      The bike is a beast but when I pay 20k plus for a superbike I expect to see Panigale's v4 level of quality and fit and finish.
      Besides carbon fiber rims the s1000rr m package looks cheaper than a gsxr1000.

      @MADLITS1K 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Fearless154 hmm fair enough.. after taking a harder look at my S1K it does seem kinda cheaply put together.. I noticed on the 17/18 model there’s this gap on the right side of the bike between the fairing and lower belly pan.. I’ll have to take a closer look at the new zx10r, I haven’t seen one in person but that might be my next bike

  • @Pillokun
    @Pillokun 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Big Con, it is just a sportbike without fairings, basically what we called a streetfighter when we dropped or laid down a sportbike and lacked funds for new fairings. These super nakeds all suffer from the same issues a sportbike suffers from, ie being cumbersome and heavy at slow traffic jam speeds. Mt09, monster, the old sd1290r, st3 765 are true naked street bikes with super good agility and ease of ride at slow speed at the cost of being a bit nervous/unstable at high speeds.

    • @Bikemax99
      @Bikemax99 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3
