Using coarse (chain saw or saw mill) saw dust w a scothbrite (tm) medium pad on slow speed angle head drill and re-wetting spots around rivet wells will help speed the work quite a bit. Also almost all the strippers work better when the metal is warmer so get a bunch of old electric blankets at the thrift store and use them one the metal w paint, and put them over the painters plastic film too.
Great work man! I would add only that when it comes to removing the iron chromate under the paint, Star Brite Aluminum Cleaner/Restorer is a miracle, sprays on for 3-5 minutes and wipes off with a rag (or pressure washer). I've got mine about 98% stripped, just catching the spots I missed the next day or two.

Environmentally friendly - that explains why it doesn't work and you need a year to get the job done.
