The one thing I would do in this painting is soften the edges where your fog meets the bank in the foreground. Beautiful colors and work!

I started with pastels when I was 12. I loved them! I haven't done anything with them in yrs. I got into oil paints when I was 15 and pastels went to a drawer never to be seen again...lol I bought me a set a few yrs ago but haven't done to much with them. Are u using oil pastels or chalk pastels? You make me laugh when u say "pastels". Being from Australia you pronounce it differently than we do here in the USA. I lived in the UK for 7yrs and me and my UK friends use to laugh at each other because the way USA and UK's pronunciations of the same words. 😊

They are chalk pastels (or "soft" pastels)
Haha I have been told that some people like listening to my tutorials just because of the accent!
I think most people pronounce it pas-tell in other countries, but we've always pronounced it like pas-tall 😅

Such lovely work! You are so patient. Ive watched a couple of your videos and I really like your process. Thank you for emphasizing not pushing too hard. Do you seal with a fixative when your are done? I'd like to scan the work when I'm done, so wondering if fixative is the answer to keep all the color on tact. Thank you so much! Blessings to you from the great Pacific Northwest, Lakewood Washington!

      Thank you 😊
Unfortunately, most fixatives cause more problems than they solve!
Your artwork can end up being darkened/discoloured or the fixative doesn't actually "fix" anything
Most pastel artists don't use fixatives for that reason
If you use the techniques and supplies that I use, there's no reason you need to fix your pastel paintings because there's very little dust fall off, it's archival/lightfast without it, and if you store it correctly and/or frame it properly then you won't have any issues 😊
I sometimes scan my pastel work, but I just make sure I wipe down the scanner properly afterwards if any pastel dust is left on there for next time 😊
