0:34: 😂 Quite something that Guy Ritchie has pumped out 6 movies (Aladdin, The Gentlemen, Wrath of Man, 'Guy Ritchie's The Covenant', Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre & The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare) & The Gentlemen spin-off show in the last 5yrs! With the exception of Aladdin & Operation Fortune which just came & went, they've done relatively ok with critics but audiences in particular seem to really love the output! What's Christy & Alonso's favourite of his recent output? The Covenant? The Gentlemen?
Guy Ritchie, one of my favorites, will watch, glad you mentioned "T/ Man From U.N.C.L.E" n "Rock n Rolla", they don't get enough attention in his catalogue. Neither does "T/ Gentlemen" IMO
I come to realize that film criticism is an exercise in philosophy. Subjective realism encounters the intersection of rationalism and empiricism with a dose of serious existential dread. maybe this is absurd? Love you guys!
OK, Christy... adore you, BUT, you're just WAY TOO SERIOUS on this. Saw it yesterday, and really enjoyed it. Just a old fashioned action throwback. I was amused with the song-choice, which the lady sang, near the end. Although, it did fit the mood, style, & period of the tale, it was written in 1959 ! So that (very) tiny glitch did not detract.
I once again have to state that I enjoy hearing what both of you think about the films, especially when the opinions are are opposite of each other's. With that being said I have to agree with Alonso's review. I feel I had a bit of a better time watching this than he did but he pretty much has the same views of the film as I do.
Love it when you guys are split. I really liked CIVIL WAR. I keep thinking about it! So I was on Christy’s side last weekend. I wonder which side I’ll be this weekend. Excited for tomorrow!
I'm with Christy here. The action bits were fun enough, but there's nothing to this movie. No meat on the bone. No real twists or turns. The characters are given a mission, and they pretty much complete it with very little complications. Ritchie's usual style is missing. It's not even on the level of his Sherlock Holmes movies. Eiza González and Babs Olusanmokun are the best parts of the movie. Babs is such a charismatic actor. I wanna see him in more of the things.
"Stabby, stabby. Shooty, Shooty." Ah, yes, the technical terms. I know someone who was watching it, and was like "Ugh, this is too much." And quit halfway through.
I'm with Christie on this one. What could have been fun as Alonzo see's it became tedious and boring. Cool glib assassins laugh and kill, and it could have worked if it were shorter and tighter. This is Tarantino wanna-be Ritchies attempt at Inglorious Basterds but he forgot to add story and intrigue.
Just seen it and realized after about an hour I just didn't care. It's nonsense of course, but there's no jeopardy as you never really believe anyone is in real danger. It's very superficial. All that said I loved the jazzy score which needs a better movie. I'm with Christy on this one.
I don’t know. I quite like Guy Ritchie’s recent movies, but the trailer for this is not doing much for me. Appreciate the conflicting scores. That seems to be me.
Maybe Ungentlemanly Warfare worked better on the big screen? Just saw it at home, and this felt kind of like watching a video game, much of the time, without a sense of weight, or risk, to any of it.
I'd put this movie loosely alongside The Dirty Dozen movie but with weaker characters. A bunch of ruffians to earn their release for a war mission. 6/10
You disagree again on a film??? What is this world coming too??? JK. I'm on the fence about this. Been hearing mix reviews. Still haven't seen "Civil War". I'm getting so behind on films. It's annoying.
For some reason, I thought they were going to say that Henry Cavill was agent Argylle. Lol! I agree with Christy on this one. The first third of the movie wasn't bad but the rest of the movie is a struggle to get through.
Inglorious guns of naverone dirty dozen rip off very silly, can’t believe there’s a universe that discusses Guy Ritchie films at all,Ww2 as a whole not hilarious really
I agree with Christy. I found it to be bland on all areas. bland characters, bland directing, bland dialogue.. heck even the action scenes were bland. Coming off of the covenant last year (which i thought was excellent) I was expecting more from guy ritchie.
"There's nothing to Henry Cavill, ... that's it" ..... I really do like HC and I think he's a little of this always even if I enjoy seeing him onscreen. There's a dullness that his handsomeness can't get around.
I'm with Christy on this one. Boring. And the action is so often entirely one sided that I didn't care. I chose this over Abigail because that was showing in such a rinkydink screening room at the closer AMC. Might see it tom'w in Dolby instead.
Alonso only likes films that promotes gay stuff! His argument about why this film is good is exactly the counter-part to why he didn't like Civil War. He's no longer a film critic... he's an activist!
Don't be ridiculous...he says those things with a tongue in his cheek...has nothing to do with activism...Civil War was a truly terrible film with serious intent which made it triply awful..THIS Ritchie film is INTENDED to be a lightweight entertainment..and like MOST Guy Ritchie films it has a homoerotic subtext..that becomes pretty overt at times...it would ludicrous not to mention that

I'm with Alonso on this one. I loved how entertaining and somewhat over the top it was.

Sometimes Guy Ritchie is hit or miss for me, but I really enjoyed this one. It's fun, absurd and over-the-top at times, but it was a fun time.

I loved this movie really entertaining and fun I really don't know what this lady is talking about 😅
Glad you had a good time.
The fact that Ritchie has three films out in the past year is pretty impressive IMO, not to mention The Gentleman show.
Those German TH-cams were the scourge of the Atlantic.
:)
I thought the pacing was really nice actually. I enjoyed this movie throughout!
These are two of my favorite U-tube captains! 😁
Ahoy!

I can't be the only person who loved his King Arthur movie 😅
I think you are.
I'm going to pray for you when you get round to watching Rebel Moon pt2
We never even saw the first one!
@@BreakfastAllDay well now..... You have to see both for science!!! 😜
Guy Ritchie's stuff now is all about "you know actually being gentlemen is kinda gangster!" and commercials for stuff he likes or invests in
As long as you're doing it in a jaunty hat.

Great, let us know!

Once again! Christy kills it on the ad transition!

We have so much Lodge gear in our kitchen. It's wonderful!
They make such great products! We use them pretty much every day.

I'm here for the scintillating banter, but I'm also here for the hunky Alonso and hawty Christy~😍
Very kind, thank you.

They shot NOPE during the daytime and then edited it to make it look like night time.
They call that shit day for night shooting. There's a whole Truffaut movie named after it.
Nope.
I was wondering if anyone was going to bring up Arthur or not as a metric by which to judge this :D
I'd put this movie loosely alongside The Dirty Dozen movie but with weaker characters. A bunch of ruffians to earn their release for a war mission. 6/10
Got lots of Inglourious Basterds in it too.
Eiza was great in 3 body problem
I agree with Christy on this one but not quite as low as her. It's a 6/10. It's not a bad movie but a little boring. Good review guys.👍
Thanks for watching Ricardo!

And we'll do it again with Abigail! It's fun.
Haven't we seen this movie before?
This will be a huge cult movie for the gay community and in fact already is.
From the trailer, the movie reminded me of a dollar store Inglorious Bastards
For some reason, I thought they were going to say that Henry Cavill was agent Argylle. Lol! I agree with Christy on this one. The first third of the movie wasn't bad but the rest of the movie is a struggle to get through.

The Covenant was a surprise from him!
I feel like Guy Ritchie started out in a cool vibe, and now it's all posh faff.
I walked out half way thought is was unbearable

He was great in that one Mission: Impossible.
Been following his career since Man of Steel and... yeah i I must say i agree. He's handsome but, that's pretty much it.

Henry Goulding? So there was an Asian in the true story?
They took some liberties.
