My favorite thing about Anders Lassen was how little he cared about the Military hierarchy in general. The brass used to complain about his after action reports...he just didn't care about glory or stories or anything. Famously one of his after action reports consisted only of the words "Landed. Killed Germans. Fucked off".
The best quote of the film is Anders Lassen: "I'm not leaving until I have a barrel full of Nazi hearts." Acording to the all the historical acounts and storys told about him years later he realy was such a badass.
Fleming served as the personal assistant to Admiral Godfrey who headed Royal Navy intelligence. As such he was a liaison to other departments, including the SOE. Fun fact, Christopher Lee served a similar role with RAF intelligence.
It's a shame that none of these men survived the war: March-Phillips died in 1942 during Operation Aquatint, Hayes was executed and Appleyard died in a plane crash on the same day in 1943, and Lassen was killed in 1945 and was posthumously awarded the VC. They were true heroes.
Indeed 😢 I can imagine the stories they would have written about when their missions were declassified 😢 I can also imagine that the British Government would have kept them on as a special forces team until they retired 😢😢😢😢
Anders Lassen decided they were not feeding the commando trainees well during training, so he ran down a stag, killed and dressed it with the sykes fairburn knife they were issued and his class ate like kings. In addition, it is said Ian Flemming based James Bond on Gus March Phillips
I actually just finished one of the books this is based on and this is one of the crazier stories from it. But there are some other balls to the wall batshit crazy missions that happened during the War that England kept secret. I hope they make some of the others into films.
Based on true events. Also character James Bond was based on Henry’s character, the first MI6 and mission like this. According to what i read. That is why Bond is the way he is crazy like these guys.
All accounts indicate that Fleming based Bond on a mixture of Gus March-Phillipps and Canadian born spymaster Sir William Stephenson, otherwise known as Intrepid.
Saw it in theaters. It was a lot of fun. Made the mistake of going while ovulating 😂. The couple sitting near me, the wife looked like she was dragged to this movie… soon her and I were giggling and kicking our feet. So many handsome men being handsome 🤭
I went to go see this movie at the theater with one of my friends/coworkers over a month or so ago. I had such a blast watching it from start to finish. This movie had strong The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen vibes. The action sequences were great and I loved the humor. But I also liked the seriousness at times and the messages it was trying to convey. One of my favorite parts was the musical score and I’ve been listening to it a lot. Really liked the throwbacks to spaghetti westerns and swing jazz music. Such a fun movie man!
I loved this movie when I saw it. Great reaction. HOW have you never seen Snatch or Lock Stock?? Snatch was just amazing back when it was new, introduced me to Jason Statham and all those Guy Ritchie fast cuts and edits.
Snatch is one of the coolest films ever made. So many great and colourful characters. I do enjoy Ritchie's films and along with Snatch also think The Gentlemen is right up there with it. The others are good as well, but those are the two that stand out the most for me. This film had Ritchie's classic blend of action and comedy and he always puts together a good soundtrack as well.
Guy Ritche doing a fictional account of a real story is just perfect entertainment. You understand the stakes and what everything means without him having to explain it, and it lets him get down to business immediately. What a fun movie.
Both Ian Fleyming and Sir Christopher Lee where both part the SOE, Lee even managed to scare Peter Jackson on set during Lord of the Rings, when Jackson asked him to imagine the sound a man makes when being stabbed in the back, Lee famously said " I Don't have to"
@@agp11001 You should read through the De-Classified Materiels from 2016, It shows he had alot more Involvment than what was publicly available before then.
I highly recommend Guy Ritchie's The Gentlemen if you're looking to watch more of his stuff. It has a different pace than this one but it's one of my favorites (his King Arthur is also very good!) Loved the reaction, keep up the great work!
I say that Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels is better by an inch. Snatch is more refined and smooth, but Lock Stock just drips with style and grainy low budget look adds so much.
Now that RDJ is "out" of marvel it would be the perfect time for them to do another Sherlock. Let him be Dr Doom for a villain then swap to Sherlock for a hero lol.
I think the average person fails to appreciate how absurd, how insane, and how comical a lot of these real people are. I have been in the military, and have been to war, though I was essentially just the most basic of basic grunts. I have had some casual interactions with people who were involved in more... grey areas of the world, and the impression I've always had is that the best of them are truly people who just do. not. give. a fuck. They are in the field they're in purely for love of the game, and accept that they will likely die a bloody death rather than a peaceful one at old age, and they're totally fine with it. A little extrapolation, and it's not hard to imagine the people operating during an event so dramatic and large as WW2 would be all of that turned up to 11. Obviously this film exaggerates some things for dramatic effect, but it's my impression that the general... vibe of these men is probably about what one would expect.
first time i saw this i wasnt very receptive to cavil OR richardson. i had only seen cavil as the Witcher and really liked him in that but in this, on first viewing, i couldnt accept his "look". the dumb moustache, hair and demeanor was just too much. and as far as richardson, i had only seen him in Reacher tv series which at the time was a LOT more TV, PG13 than what i wouldve liked. plus, and i cant remember why or where, i thought id read somewhere cavil and richardson didnt get along well together while making this. i DID however really liked the end credit tune and had listened to just a clip of it like a couple dozen times before a 2nd rewatch of the film. and a 3rd ... and a 4th and with each rewatch liked it entirely a little more. by the 4th time id come around to thoroughly enjoy not only cavil and richardson but the entire cast.
It doesn't line up with those, Video on Demand is more comparable to Pay Per View because it's before the movies are on DVD, CD, VHS, DVR, or DMV. You can't buy it physically yet.

I want one of those barrels.
Fleming served as the personal assistant to Admiral Godfrey who headed Royal Navy intelligence. As such he was a liaison to other departments, including the SOE. Fun fact, Christopher Lee served a similar role with RAF intelligence.
The actor who played Heinrich Luhr (evil guy), Til Schweiger, was also in Inglourious Basterds, but as a good guy (the Nazi-hating German).
Hugo Stiglitz
He went from being rumbled due to a botched German signal to rumbling a botched German pronunciation.

It's just the beginning and you can tell these guys had a blast making this film.

Yeah, and use the actors in this movie 🎬

Til Schweiger was awesome in this as usual. One of my favorite roles of his was in "King Arthur" (2007).
Great movie.. guy Richie knocked it out the park again
Anders Lassen is the Danish version of John Rambo (Rambo series) and John Matrix (Commando) combined.
I loved this movie when I saw it. Great reaction. HOW have you never seen Snatch or Lock Stock?? Snatch was just amazing back when it was new, introduced me to Jason Statham and all those Guy Ritchie fast cuts and edits.

Oh please do Man From U.N.C.L.E! Another fun one. This was cool but I enjoyed MFU much more and I think you would too if you like this.
This movie was a pleasant surprise!
Guy Ritche doing a fictional account of a real story is just perfect entertainment. You understand the stakes and what everything means without him having to explain it, and it lets him get down to business immediately. What a fun movie.
A Spritzer is white wine with a clear fizzy drink, usually lemonade. They're quite refreshing in the summer!
44:39 Funny you should mention Inglorious Basterds because the main German guy whose name you don't know played Hugo Stiglitz in Inglorious Basterds.
You should check out the Rogue Heroes series. The Man from UNCLE is also a fun watch.
Christopher Lee was also a member of the ministry.
Funnily enough this story is basically what Fleming based James Bond off of.
Both Ian Fleyming and Sir Christopher Lee where both part the SOE, Lee even managed to scare Peter Jackson on set during Lord of the Rings, when Jackson asked him to imagine the sound a man makes when being stabbed in the back, Lee famously said " I Don't have to"
To be fair, there's nothing to substantiate Lee ever got involved with the SOE apart from RAF liaison duties.

Love your commentary, you always say what I'm thinking. I'm constantly going...I know right!
A spritzer quite simply at its base form is wine (usually white) mixed with soda or sparkling water
a spritzer is something like alcohol, juice and some carbonated water.
Somebody definitely sabotaged this film's marketing.
27:50 no, you’re good, thats the only appropriate reaction
I highly recommend Guy Ritchie's The Gentlemen if you're looking to watch more of his stuff. It has a different pace than this one but it's one of my favorites (his King Arthur is also very good!)

You need to watch Snatch, easily Guy Ritchie's best movie
Snatch and RocknRolla.
I say that Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels is better by an inch. Snatch is more refined and smooth, but Lock Stock just drips with style and grainy low budget look adds so much.
@@ЯАга-я4л Love Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
It refreshing to see unsponsored movies.
Just means you gotta watch this 20 times so he gets payed the same as a sponsor
I'm not sure what you mean here? lol
who's getting sponsored to watch particular movies?
A spritzer tends to be white wine with seltzer water
I really liked this movie! Saw it in theaters! I’ve also met Cary Elwes and he’s such a great guy!
4:35 I know him thanks to "Knuckles" series
Reacher and superman, WOW. I absolutely love this movie, love when Alan said “ there in nazi heaven “ ( HELL)
I ideal film for a evening with the boys and you can throw in the Beekeeper and make it a double feature
Now that RDJ is "out" of marvel it would be the perfect time for them to do another Sherlock. Let him be Dr Doom for a villain then swap to Sherlock for a hero lol.
Not the best Guy Ritchie movie, but I liked it quite a lot, never the less.
Oh, awesome you're reacting to this awesome movie. I love love love this movie.

Yeah im hopeful Highlander will be good
SNATCH PLEASE!!!
Alan Ritchson needs to play B.J. Blazkowicz so bad.

VOD will never sound as good as DVD, CD, VHS, DVR, or DMV 😂

Guess I'm just used to On Demand Movies. Hell, call it a M.O.D.. Calling movies a video just seems insulting lol
Haha that's valid!
It's still a great movie and an even better reaction! Every time you post, my day gets better 😁
