I bought this exact scanner to diagnose a misfire on my 02 SLK32AMG. I looked at the cylinder misfires/errors in real time (data stream) and determined the exact one that was bad. It turned out to be a single spark plug wire. Saved me a trip to the dealer and a pile of money.
Found a pristine ML55. Went for a test drive, everything seemed ok. Hooked up the scanner. Catalytic converter I/M Readiness was INC along with a few others. Could not connect to the Transfer Case Module, turned out Low Range didn't turned on. This saved my @$$ for real! Thanks again!!!
Wassup my brotha from anotha mutha! We probably most definitely know the same peeps. Its a good scanner for the money. Has a few setbacks but still not bad. Check out the A30M I was really impressed with that one.
Reached out to Lou about an airmatic suspension issues that I had and he was very helpful and knowledgeable with MB!! No need to go to the stealership :)
just bought the scanner and googled it s application , glad i found you ,, have subscribed .. thank you for your time and effort to share your knowledge
@@MasterTechLou That is great to hear.. Good to see some one that does not mind sharing knowledge.. Once I check my codes if I have an issue will message u via your website and expect to lay for your services
Thanks so much I reset my air conditioner so I could recharge it. I clear the code that was blocking me to know what the Freon level was. This a great device thank 💯
It will help a little. Check codes in rear sam, and you should also be able to see the live data in the rear sam for the fuel level gauge but you will ultimately have to access the level sensors (2 of them) and test them with a meter.
Great video, going to order one! Do you know if the “real” mileage of the car is readable in any of the modules vs what is displayed on the odometer? Any tips and tricks appreciated!
David Moreno the EIS and Instrument cluster are the only modules that store and share mileage. If you replace one of those the mileage will update/correct itself after 500 miles of driving. From what I was taught.
@@MasterTechLou thanks very much for the response, really useful channel and subbed. which autel one do you refer to for doing this on a budget as i see many ?
Hey Lou, came here to this video because i’m trying to diagnose 2 issues i’m having and I do have this scanner. I have a 2008 CLS 550…. When I start the car from cold, the heat works completely fine. If I drive the car then turn it off and come back to crank the car up, it will not push out heat, just cool air. I’ve changed that heater control valve with no luck. I’m not sure where my issue could be. I do know my thermostat needs to be changed…. I think it’s stuck a bit open because my engine runs a little under normal operating temperature in the winter time. Maybe somehow this is connected? 2nd issue would be the rear vents don’t push out AC in the summer all the time. It will start out cold then get hot. If I turn the temp all the way up in the rear then all the way back down, it will get cold again and then slowly make its way back up to heat. Could you please give me some insight on these two issues?
1- possible the aux is water pump is getting heat soak and not working once shut off. 2- could be a failing stepper motor for the rear. I would check the aac module for codes and or get a better scanner that can do bi directional control so you can activate those items to test. That would be my suggestion
@@MasterTechLou I did replaced that circulation pump already with no change. Why or how would it get heat soaked? 2: Is the aac module something I can see on my scan tool I currently have? 3: What would be your recommendation for the next up scan tool that control the vehicle? I don’t want to drop 2000 on a scanner when i’m just doing my own vehicles lol. Thank you for all your help!
@@00700556 if you peruse through all of my review videos you may find a scanner you like. Funny how people leave out information such as you did with already having replaced the aux pump. with this old car the issue can be as simple as poor connections at the ac control panel, I have helped many over the last few years with weird issues because the connections had many a slight film or corrosion that you cannot see on them, but once the ac control unit was disconnected and reconnected it worked fine. which lead me to the assumption it was just forming poor connections.

Up until a week ago my Icarsoft helped me a lot. The machine told me to fix several sensors over the years. Unfortunately a week ago it started to message "Fault in communication with ECU" when I look at Engine fault codes due to my check engine light being on again.. It still works with all the other options like transmission etc. Any hints would be appreciated.
Thanks for the video Lou. I have an Sl 32 AMG. Believe I might have a vacuum leak due to high fuel consumption but do not have any codes. Will this tool help me diagnose/locate? Thanks!
Hello, thanks for the nice comments. if you have a vacuum leak the engine module is very good at setting a code for lean. not sure what module you actually have because there is no SL 32 amg., but fuel consumption is very tricky, because there are so many factors that play into it. How you drive, where you drive, temperature, fuel quality. if there is a fuel consumption issue you would most definitely get a code in a Mercedes. I cant think of an instance where I had a physical issue like a leak and no rich or lean code to go with it., and yes and no, the scanner can help you if you watch o2 sensor values and then spray the intake and engine with carb cleaner to see if the o2 sensors change rapidly, but it can also cause false readings since the mass air flow sensor can pick up the fumes. so its tricky on how to find a leak, usually smoke testing is best. Lou
Lou- I just got the Icarsoft MBII & wondered why the fog lamp error which shows up on my instrument panel doesn't show up in the scanner. Which module should I be looking at to see this. Thanks in advance for your help. Alan Craig
Alan it would help if you told me what model you had, but depending on model it will be in either left front sam, right front sam, or just front sam. All depends on the model. But lighting will always set codes in a sam module. Hope this helps.
you cant roll an odometer. if you replace a cluster, after 500 mile the correct mileage syncs up. the mileage is stored in a few different modules, so yes we can look to see the mileage inside the modules.

Hi Lou, very good video, i finally understood that i have not to spend 3k for a star dignosis to do a simply owner scan without programming needs. The question i kindly ask you is if this device is able to scan on a 2005 SLK r171 and in particular on the vario roof system. I'm quite sure i have switch which doesn't work properly but i want to be sure before to disamble all the lining. Thanks and good luck Giovanni from italy
What is a good price point for my application. I replaced both front wheel bearings. When I replaced the passenger side the abs light came on and the cruse control doesn't work. Message on the center display. I changed the driver side on now the when you start driving away the front brakes come on for a few seconds then release. Then the red brake light comes on the display. The speed doesn't read until the brake light is on. It's a 2007 ml320 cdi. Thanks for any info.
It is very important to know that the wheel bearing has a magnetic ring only on one side of the bearing and that is what the sensor reads. Most likely the bearing was installed backwards and now you need to replace it once again. To test you use a paperclip on the end of the wheel bearing to know which side the magnetic ring is on. I hope this helps. Lou
Hi Benz Tech Lou P., Great video. Very understandable as well. I own a 2008 c300 that will not start. All the lights come on with the exterior, most of the lights on the dash come on, all fuses are fine, and the radio will turn on. The horn, the windows, the sunroof, and brake lights will not work. The EIS has been replaced about 9 months ago, so my question is: Will the MB 2 work to diagnose a car that won't start? Also any ideas on the issue? ~Michael
Michael King thank you for the kind words. One thing I need to make a video of is a scanner does 10% of the work. Its understanding what you are looking for that’s the other 90%. Hi, I have a 2004 s500 4 Matic 5l v8 engine and my teleaid malfunction drive to the nearest dealer is on can this clear it? if not how can I clear it and what obd code reader will clear it. thank you.
This will not clear it you will have to have a shop remove the teleaid fiber optic connector, install a bypass loop and then have them code the audio and instrument cluster to show “not installed” for teleaid and the warning will never come on again.

Hi Lou, I have the iCarsoft MBii scanner, and trying to troubleshoot a 2002 E320 W211, with a production date of 09/01. I can only diagnose the ECM, but not other modules, ETC/SRS/ESP, ect.., through the OBD port. I noticed a 38 pin port in the engine bay fuse box. Do you think I need an adapter for this car to run the additional module diagnostics?
DW it doesnt sound like you have a 211. The 38 pin is the w210. And yes the obd only accesses the engine module. You need to use the 38 pin for everything else as well as oem engine module data
@@MasterTechLou Your right Lou, and appreciate the quick reply! I just ordered the 38pin adapter, will be here next Friday. Trying to diagnosis a BAS/ESP/ABS fault, with the transmission in limp mode. Sounds like the trans computer might be shot, but I would like to see if I can access it to reset first.
Hello, you dont use a scanner to check battery voltages. You use a multimeter on the battery. However in some control modules you can find battery voltage in the live data but there is no specific function that im aware of for just checking battery voltage. Thanks

Hi bro, I think my supercharger isn't working I have icarsoft mb 2 I have a 2009 c200 w204 also amp not working no sound, can icarsoft pick up any codes for these?
Hello! I carsoft MAY pick up a code from the engine module if the supercharger isnt working. You should have some underboost code. But from what im finding icarsoft cannot really read audio components. Im not sure about the v3.0 yet.
Hey love your videos! I have a 2014 GLK 250 and was wondering does this iCarsoft have the ability to reset the AC, the AC sometimes works and when I take it they say they just “restarted the computer” kind of thing and boom it’s all good, so looking to get this so I don’t have to pay 150$ for a guy do to a 5 min job I can hopefully do myself with something like this
Hey thank you for the nice comments, yes this can, basically if your ac light flashes at you, you have a low pressure code that locks out the ac compressor. so you will possibly need to have the freon checked. but yes this can do that. Thanks for enjoying the videos ! Lou
Hello! I just purchased my first MB, it's a 2006 E350 with 60k miles on it, no codes, no issues, but I'm very DIY passionate, so I just want to know what's the best budget OBD scanner for MB that you would recommend, knowing that I'm not a mechanic, but do understand a lot of the scanning and programming basics. Thanks a lot!
Lou, I'm adding aftermarket wheels and tires(with new TPMS) on my 2014 c250 Sport and I own the iCarsoft MB II. Will I need to relearn the TPMS monitors via the iCarsoft tool or can I go through the NAV screen on my car to relearn the new sensors?????? Thanks!!
provided you have the right sensors, once you reset tpms in the instrument cluster, the wheel sensors will learn themselves. they are smart enough to learn location and orientation, not like the older ones, so this should be seamless. we used to do winter and summer tire swaps, it was a pain on the 220 but on this model once you reset the tpms through the cluster and drive it, it SHOULD relearn no problem. but NO the icarsoft will not help with that. I do not think so.
@@MasterTechLou thanks a million!!! Last question. Is there a specific TPS MHz or whatever signal the TPS use to communicate with the PCM I need to request for my model year car???
I have the MBII scanner for years now. On the live data stream can it pick up misfire with no CEL? I have a very slight misfire at idle comes and go on my bi-turbo M276. I have 76k miles and the spark plugs been replace around 45k miles.
There is a misfire counter under smooth engine running option. However you can still have a slight misfire but the module not count it. They tool away the screen that shows a time frame between cylinders firing. So only way to find a slight miss is with a scope.
Thank you. I drove the M276 (W166) all day yesterday and did not misfire at all. I have a Snap on scanner and a MB Star scanner at the shop. I do another scan this weekend since I need to work on a E55 W211@@MasterTechLou
It has not misfire in couple of days. I believe there was water in the gas when I filled up at Sunoco. After I heard on the news that in my state/district Sunoco is contaminated with water and leaves in there gas. I switched to Exxon and I have not had another misfire.
My 2008 dodge sprinter 2500 showed PO715 code(speed sensor), which I replaced the conductor plate and now trying to get out of limp mode. After runaround from various mb mechanics , I’m reaching out to you on my next step. Thanks in advance.
P0715 tells me you are not using the right scanner and you need to use the scanner like this one to erase the codes in the transmission control module if you never erase the codes in the transmission control module the trans will remain in limp mode.
Hi Lou. I recently replaced the front passenger air strut, air compressor, and valve block to my 2012 gl 450. However I could not clear the malfunction code and nothing seems to power on after the install as far as the compressor. I decided to purchase the MB2 to see if I can clear or attempt to clear the faults however I can only get a link error after scanning. Any help or info would be much appreciated. I don’t think I’m selecting the wrong model cause it only has two classifications for the gl class and I’ve tried both with the same result.
Which model scanner? V2.0 or II? Does the dash show “visit workshop “ with the car and up arrow? Might be actual communication issues with the module Or maybe your scanner cant read the module. The gl should be 164 in that year? Cant remember exactly when they changed to 166 chassis. Think it was 12 for Ml and 13 for gl?
So the scanner is the same model as in the video. The dash display in the car reads malfunction display of the car and arrow up. Thanks so would you recommend I just take it to a shop to see if they can diagnose and clear the fault. Is it safe for me to connect the compressor with leads straight from the battery to raise it?
@@cheevang2810 if youre not good at using a meter to check powers and grounds then might be best to have a shop diagnose it, and no, jumping the compressor will not raise the car. The valve block will not be open to allow air to the shocks. It will need towed.

But I’m not sure what the first part meant. Would you happen to be able to translate that for me. 😂 thanks a lot Lou you’ve been a big help so far. 😊
Lou, thanks for your most helpful video. My situation is chasing down a very frustrating parasitic battery drain. I think i have it narrowed down to battery control module or k57 relay. My question (using the same scanner as you) is while scanning the BCM data stream should I see charging current running through it? I actually did a reset of the f30 circuit by unplugging the bcm for a short while and then after re-connecting, the fault for the "open circuit in k57" did not re-appear. The software status of the bcm was given as 22/05. Not sure if this is the updated 2nd gen software as provided for by MB recall 31-3-2005. If a software update would fix this issue it would save me major coin ($600 app) for a new bcm. Any ideas or input, thanks in advance Bill R PS. I am not a mechanic by any stretch!
Thank you for the nice comments, Parasitic drains are easy but tedious. I can help but I shy away from doing diagnosis in the comments, if you need help please reach out to me at www.cartechconnect.com, thanks again. Lou
Hi, just saw the Carsoft video. I have 3 Sprinters, all diesel, 2016,17 and 18. I bought the carsoft 2 years ago and it didn’t recognize the VIN for the 2018. Question is, will this version or any allow the countdown of starts after the repair/condition has been fixed. I now have 1 that had the DPF clogged/ cleaned and replaced with 5 starts remaining. Love your video.
Hello, thanks for the nice comments, Diesels are tricky and they suck to say the least. When the fault codes happen and you get the countdown, you basically CAN NOT ATTEMPT to erase codes or you now have to visit the dealer as you will lock the module into tamper mode. Basically in a diesel, the computer has to run the test for the failed component and pass the test and then and only then will it erase the code itself or set the code to stored and remove the remaining starts. here is my cheat sheet I share with people outside of the dealer. Diesel Diagnosis once a fault is registered over 2 different drive cycles (start, drive, shut off, cool down, start, drive ) the check engine light will come on. if the issue affects emissions greatly the remaining starts will come on if the issue is not resolved in a unspecified period of time. in the shop we run the codes (perform quick test which runs down the list of modules and check faults) then we see the codes and process them ( we high light and click the code it brings us to the test steps of each code) once we perform the test, it will either lead us to replace the part, or it will show "ok to erase fault codes" (not verbatim), only then can we erase the codes. for the consumer. if you have a fault code, you can replace the part. start the engine and drive for more than 30 min above 40mph with out stopping. the engine module will self test and erase the code on its own and the remaining starts will disappear if the remaining starts was active. however once you get to 4 remaining starts you now have to go to the dealer, up to 4 remaining starts you can reset the starts to 12 IF you have the right scanner like a higher level scanner. Like the bidirectional ones .
Tien Trinh yes but stop car too low isnt a fault its a physical fault. You most likely have a leak. You only have a code when the dash says “visit workshop”
Hi, does the tool also read the ash content of the Dpf (like star diagnosis)? I mean also the total ash content (not only the ash level that resets to zero after a re-gen). Thank you very much and great video!

Hello. Typically when a code sets for a relay its because the module notices theres no power return, or amp consumption, I never replace anything without symptoms. If there are no symptoms then the code doesnt mean anything to me. Is this in a SL r230?? If so you should have a battery warning on the dash, and this can be a fuse issue as well as a relay issue.
@@MasterTechLou yes it is the sl r230. I went here first because this fault is battery related. The vehicle has many faults at this stage. There is not a battery appearing on the dash display which I thought was odd. Right now I am waiting for parts from known failures. Mirror position switch broken, etc. Once I get all this in and tested there will be more issues to fix. One thing I could mention. I replaced the gas struts in the trunk because the old ones were weak and the trunk lid would sag on its own weight. Now the trunk will not close because the close mechanism is not strong enough to do so. I can close it by hand. I confirmed that the strut is the correct part from a couple of sources. So that may be the next task.
Thanks for the video, I have a question about my car, it is a Mercedes C-300 w205, and my audio system isn't working. I have the same icarsoft scanner and I don't know which module to scan, I replaced the amp and checked the fuses, they seemed to be fine so I'm thinking that is a module related issue. If you could let me know on which module(s) to scan in order to learn what the problem is with the audio system, that would be great.
@@MasterTechLou Do you know how I might be able to scan audio modules? I tried yesterday and as you said, it did not detect any audio modules in the car.
Does it give you Live Data like coolant temp, o2 sensor flow, MAF reading etc. like VAG on Audi cars? I assume it doesn't scan older W210 cars like a 2000 E320 since I didn't see it on the list? Older iCarsoft scanner for that or use basic OBDII scan option?
DaytonCarCare yes you can read live data in almost all modules the only thing you cannot do is perform activations. As for older cars they do sell a adapter plug im not 100% on how far they go back.
Savannah Wright pretty sure your new pump is junk. We dont have to bleed the system when a new pump is installed. And no this scanner will not do that but you do need a scanner to see if there are electrical faults and fault codes which will prevent the system from functioning

Thank you for the great video, I have been a technician in a busy shop but am retired now I enjoy watching someone who is clearly experienced and knows how to relate that experience to others. I have an RV on Sprinter chassis. is a 2015 Sprinter, the sprinter has been known to have some ABS sensor problems. my question is ,will this scanner find and pinpoint exactly which one if any sensor is failed / I know that is an electrical value and I suspect a low mileage vehicle can get rust/corrosion on parts where it is less likely on a typical 15K mile per year vehicle. also I noticed the unit you have there has MB 2 on screen is that the same as the iCarsoft Auto M900 V2.0 Mercedes I am finding on Amazon for $140.00 ? thanks again for great information
Thank you Frank for the nice comments. The v2.0 is identical with a few enhancements. it will work just the same. Yes it should read the esp module to help you narrow down the issue and show live data to help you define the problem. If you are experienced then this will help you get to the root cause. Thanks again! Lou
@@MasterTechLou I have the ESP ASR BAS fault message displayed , some internet source says it can be the light break switch, but could be other things. Do you have any advice ?
Appreciate the knowledge. Any advice on what I should be looking to if my scanner can only read the ECM? I have a 2001 E320 and this scanner will only communicate with the ECM. I am dealing with the infamous transmission and I have replaced the TCM with one I know that is fully operational but this tool still can only read the ECM.
You most likely arent using the correct port in the engine bay with the round adapter . we cannot use the under dash obd port in this model, its ONLY for emission stations and checking for check engine light codes. Through the basic obd2 selection.
@@MasterTechLou Where I’m at right now is I have the correct tool you recommended but it will read every single module I have BUT the TCM. I’m stumped as I see no one else with this issue. The TCM is good and dry and I have a couple others so I feel the TCM is okay but there’s an issue where my car soft scanner won’t read it. I tried visiting your online website but I get an error code. Ever seen anything like this one? Thanks in advance.
Will this scanner assist me in the process of resetting the drive cycle after repairs that involved disconnecting the battery? Failed the annual inspection due to sensors not is ready state.
David Hinton removing the battery power DOES reset drive cycles. As well as simply “clearing codes” even if there are none. There is no specific action to “initialize drive cycle” or however you want to put it. So yes and no to your question.
Actually, i have another question as well since you're an expert on Mercedes. I also have a W203 C180. My windscreen wipers don't work. The fuse is ok, and i can't check the relays because there's only 2 relays in the car and they both operate the wipers. Anyway... If i push the wiper stalk forwards, i can twist the stalk and the wipers work. I can do that during the day and it's not a problem but obviously i can't do that when the lights are on because i'd be using full beams and blinding everyone. I've brought a new stalk and i'm going to fit it this Friday (30th September 22) but it's a little bit of a hassle so i was wondering if you have even seen this issue where it wasn't the stalk?
you have a bad wiper stalk it sounds like, as for the dpf issues, a clogged dpf is usually due to age if not oil loss . but the scanner may not tell you why its clogged. you would have to remove the dpf and see inside.
ah the infamous road test mode. that mode happens when someone uses a scanner that doesnt know how to use it, and enters road test mode. this happens like 100% of the time. I can help, you will need to contact me on my site please. thank you. www.cartechconnect.com

Ok so I have a cla 250 and the electronic shifter wont go out of park i checked the brake lights and they were working, i am sure that there is an issue with the transmission so I was wondering if I could reset the transmission. Using a scanner
with a cla you most likely need a new transmission control unit or ism from the dealer. either are common to fail for no reason, this scanner can get you to the fix but no simple reset. In fact I hate the word RESET as its overused in the car world. its a very very misunderstood word. but you will have to most likely have either replaced. Lou
@@MasterTechLou From what i remember the issue happened right after i jump started it. But another issue is that since its not going out of park the towing companys are saying they cant tow it, if you have any advice, please tell me since its my only car thx alot
Ksm Sm glad to help. What I have found is the transmission control module glitches. But this seems to happen only after a jump. Not a battery replacement. Glad it helped, I normally never suggest that process. But in rare instances it does help. Be safe.
Pretty good credentials. Congrats. I have a MB 2008 e350 4matic (vin WDBUF87X58B357576). I am inundated with "check engine" the latest being P0030, p0050, p2237, p2240, p2015. The O2 sensors are relatively new. What next? The p2015 is present once I get another code.
Thanks Lou! I just ordered one for my 06 Audi A8. It should have just come with the car. Lol! Your video is great! I feel like I understand a lot more how this device works. Do you diagnose Audi's? If so my ABS/Parking brake light comes on within a few min of driving if I go below 5 mph and the steering becomes less dampened. If I turn the car off and on the steering dampener is hard to turn plus the speedometer won't work in addition to the warning lights. If the car sits for an hour or so the light is off like nothing ever happened. I am hoping the icarsoft will show me what is failing. The radio changes volume when this happens to. 🤨

Hi Lou hope you're doing well.. quick question I change the fuse on my S L550 it was regarding changing the vacuum pump it's still not working, should I just buy one of those scanners to reset the system... Will the dealer be able to do it for me ? I really appreciate your time
Yes this scanner will work but it all depends on your reasons for using this, its best for reading, clearing codes and reading live data. that is what it is limited to.
I have a question about the iCarsoft MB II. When I scroll down to reset the EGR, and check ok on my vin #, Sedan, it goes back to vin #. Is that how it works, or not? Shouldn’t it show it’s performing, or complete? I have a 2009 E320 Bluetec which has been going into limp mode.
@@MasterTechLou after trying a few times to reset the EGR, I drove it about 30 miles and it ran great for the first time in weeks, and without a fault code. 🤷♀️
@@MasterTechLou Thank you Lou. When it first went into limp mode, and check engine light came on, codes were P2359-1 & 2359-2, I found a shop that works on MB’s, but weren’t certified. First they did a smoke test and found one leak….fixed a clip which solved that. Next they replaced the fuel filter. Then called saying the fuel line was full of soot, and needed to be manually cleaned. Was told my car (84,000 miles on it) was still in great condition, and they highly recommended it be cleaned. However, it was expensive. I paid them $5200.00 which was with tax. That was half the value of my car! It continued to go into limp mode. Took back two more times. Last they kept my car 5 1/2 weeks and installed a new turbo actuator at no charge, but it still didn’t fix the issue. However the mpg had returned to normal at this point. I added Diesel Kleen for the first time and crossed my fingers. Then I purchased the iCarsoft MB II. If it continues, I’ll donate to ask your advice on next step I should take. My husband is wanting me to trade it in, but I don’t want to. I love my car when it runs right.
Lou, this is an older video, so I hope you will reply. I have a MY1997 SL 600 with two Engine Control Units (ECU'S). The emissions system is an ME1.0 SFI. Have you used the MB V2 unit successfully to communicate with an older Mercedes like mine via the 38 pin OBD port? I know the MB V3.0 series will not work with the dual ECU set up for my year. Am thinking about the MB V2.0, but before I buy, I would like some assurance it will communicate with the left and right ECU'S. Thank you.
Hello, I always take the time to comment for some reason some comments dont notify me and some do. As for your setup, im curious why the 3.0 will not , its my understanding that they all have the same similar software but then enhance as they go up. I dont have a 129 chassis to try with my v2.0 at the moment. But I feel like it should work. Not sure ill have the chance to check we dont see many old models by us anymore. Too expensive to bring to the dealer.
Thank you for the reply Lou. The short story is that the unit would communicate with the right ECU (N3/12) and identified it correctly as an ME-SFI 1.0 unit. The left ECU (N3/11) would be identified as an ME2.8 unit, an 8 cylinder motor. After a couple of data log exchanges, the software folks modified the software to disallow use of the unit on SL 600 vehicles prior to the 9/99 (MY2000) time period. There was no effort to work with me to actually resolve the matter and I returned the unit with the 38 pin adapter to Amazon for a full refund. I was reaching out to you as a reliable subject matter expert in hopes of finding out if the MB V2.0 might work. The MB V3.0 seemed to work well with the other modules in the vehicle, however, failed miserably with the Engine Control Modules. If you have a moment, take a look at the following link. I documented the experience as well as I could. See the attachment in Post #41. www.benzworld.org/threads/recommended-3rd-party-diagnostic-tools.3075756/page-3#post-18589812 I have since reached out to the Autel and Foxwell people and been told that their products will only work with the MY2000 and newer vehicles also. I attribute this to the fact that technology changes made by the EOBD in their OBD2 standards became the baseline for aftermarket scan tool manufacturers. Needless to say, I was less than impressed with the Icarsoft customer service.
@@millweigh ok the plot thickens…. Yeah I have yet to use an aftermarket scanner on a obd1 car of ours. I just never had the opportunity. If I do I surely will so I can show people how to scan and what process to use. Ill take a look at the forum. Thanks!
GREAT VIDEO! im curious if this scanner clears and resets codes. For example im gettin error code P0702 wich puts the car in limp mode. when I clear the code with my cheap generic scanner it says it cleared it but the only thing it did was shut the check engine light off. when I take it to the dealership or a european specialty shop they clear the code with their scanner and it takes it out of limp mode! Will this scanner do that or do u need the rumored 10 thousand dollar one for that?
Glad you asked, so when you have a p07XX that means that there is a code in the trans module that is causing limp mode. so yes this will read and clear the trans codes but that does not mean that it fixes the issue, it just clears it but the issue will return. so yes it will clear codes, no its not a fix for your issue. Lou
Hello, I no longer have the MBII but I have the V2.0 and it does show the 208. but you will need an adapter most likely as the diagnostic port might still be in the engine bay, its a round port.
I know this is an old video so i hope you read this message. I have a W204 CDI 220. I've a generic fault code of DPF blocked on my basic scanner. Would the Icarsoft be able to tell which component failed to cause the DPF to become blocked? I know it can force a regen, but there's not point forcing a regen if something like the pressure failed and that's what stopped the DPF doing it's regen in the first place. EDIT: I have just purchased the car and it's in limp home mode so it wasn't me who blocked the DPF so i don't who how/why it was blocked).
Hi I have a Mercedes ML350 and have the MB v2.0 which is fantastic as I’m finding more and more it does every day. I have searched through the manual and FAQ’s and couldn’t find the answer to my question. Is there a way to do a full Automatic scan and save all the results to print other than having to go into each option and have to save each individual fault code. My colleague has an alternative product and his does do it. I’m sure this does but I can’t find out how. Thanks in advance. Neil
Hello Neil, so far there is nothing that I can see where it gathers all of the codes together. I do have a few 3.0 on order and I think that one is going to be a lot better. Its advertised as being bi directional. So this may be a game changer. Stay tuned!

It will help a little. Check codes in rear sam, and you should also be able to see the live data in the rear sam for the fuel level gauge but you will ultimately have to access the level sensors (2 of them) and test them with a meter.

Great Video, on this Scanner the OBDII Selection. Is that for other non Mercedez Vehicles. Nothing in the manual addresses that.
You can use that on ANY car. It will read the engine module direct for obd2 codes. And thanks for the nice comments!

Lou

Thanks for this video, can a mercedes dealership can discover if the odo meter was rolled?
you cant roll an odometer.
if you replace a cluster, after 500 mile the correct mileage syncs up.
the mileage is stored in a few different modules, so yes we can look to see the mileage inside the modules.

Lou

Hello ! Could you give me any advice for reading default on gearbox 722.6 in a W210 with the 38 pins port ? This reader could done it ?
Yes you need the adapter for the 38 pin port
Hi, Just watched your video on the MBII Scanner. I have one and have been told that with an iCarsoft 38pin to 16pin OBD adapter it will read my Mercedes 1996 r129 SL500. Have you had any experience in this. Thanks in advance from Australia...George
Yes from my experience you can read older cars with the adapter. But sometimes there can be an issue with faulty adapters so purchase wisely.

Great video, I recommend this scanner to, I actually have CR Plus version cause it can read other car models and I enjoy using it, but not sure if I am missing features that are in the MB 2, I did get SDS and looking forward to learning it, your a good technician, I wonder why you don’t have more Subscribers, I think me and you need to collaborate
hi there, this is Jessica from iCarsoft Inc.
Appreciate your support at first.
Please kindly note that the differences between CR Plus and MB II are that
1. CR Plus can work for 44 brand vehicles while MB II can only work for Mercedes-Benz/Sprinter/Smart;
2. CR Plus only work for 4 basic Systems(engine, transmission, ABS and airbag) diagnosis while MB II can work for full systems diagnosis.
Now we have one new item CR Pro can work both 44 brand vehicles and full systems diagnosis.

Car runs and drives fine, just wont shift out of 2nd gear, and is throwing a p0600 code, and error message "no or incorrect data from ETC/EGS control module" from the ECM. Sounds like the trans computer might be shot, but I would like to see if I can access it to reset first.

Hello! I just purchased my first MB, it's a 2006 E350 with 60k miles on it, no codes, no issues, but I'm very DIY passionate, so I just want to know what's the best budget OBD scanner for MB that you would recommend, knowing that I'm not a mechanic, but do understand a lot of the scanning and programming basics. provided you have the right sensors, once you reset tpms in the instrument cluster, the wheel sensors will learn themselves. they are smart enough to learn location and orientation, not like the older ones, so this should be seamless. we used to do winter and summer tire swaps, it was a pain on the 220 but on this model once you reset the tpms through the cluster and drive it, it SHOULD relearn no problem. but NO the icarsoft will not help with that.

My 2008 dodge sprinter 2500 showed PO715 code(speed sensor), which I replaced the conductor plate and now trying to get out of limp mode. After runaround from various mb mechanics , I’m reaching out to you on my next step. Thanks in advance.

if you never erase the codes in the transmission control module the trans will remain in limp mode.
Might be actual communication issues with the module
Or maybe your scanner cant read the module.
Ok with the 164 I was able to get in there and get the fault codes.

Hello, thanks for the nice comments,
Diesels are tricky and they suck to say the least.
Diesel Diagnosis
once a fault is registered over 2 different drive cycles (start, drive, shut off, cool down, start, drive ) the check engine light will come on. if the issue affects emissions greatly the remaining starts will come on if the issue is not resolved in a unspecified period of time.
in the shop we run the codes (perform quick test which runs down the list of modules and check faults) then we see the codes and process them ( we high light and click the code it brings us to the test steps of each code) once we perform the test, it will either lead us to replace the part, or it will show "ok to erase fault codes" (not verbatim),
only then can we erase the codes.
for the consumer.
if you have a fault code, you can replace the part.
start the engine and drive for more than 30 min above 40mph with out stopping.
the engine module will self test and erase the code on its own and the remaining starts will disappear if the remaining starts was active.
however once you get to 4 remaining starts you now have to go to the dealer, up to 4 remaining starts you can reset the starts to 12 IF you have the right scanner like a higher level scanner. Like the bidirectional ones .
I have 2007 cls550, does it read Airmatic suspension problem? (stop car too low).
thanks Tien Trinh
Tien Trinh yes but stop car too low isnt a fault its a physical fault. You most likely have a leak. You only have a code when the dash says “visit workshop”
Hi, does the tool also read the ash content of the Dpf (like star diagnosis)? I mean also the total ash content (not only the ash level that resets to zero after a re-gen). Thank you very much and great video!
Thank you, this i do not know 100%. I have not personally seen this, if I have a chance to check out in the future I will surely let you all know, but for now I have no idea.

Got B1828 "Component K57 Fault. This fault code is not listed anywhere that I can find. Should I simply replace this relay or look somewhere else?
@@wainswo1 if there is not a battery warning in the dash then disregard the code. We dont do anything with codes without a symptom

Hi I got the scanner and I have a issue whit the ABS light I use the scanner and says is on test drive mode the any way to turn that off thanks.

Ksm Sm ok! So take the battery cables loose. Touch them together for 2-3 seconds. Then reconnect them. That should help.
@@MasterTechLou Omg you are a life saver it worked! It shifted out of drive thx you so much!!
Hey This Guy thanks man, sounds like a wheel speed sensor issue. That is most common also since the audio is speed dependent.
@@MasterTechLou Thanks Lou. That's what everything on the Audi forum is pointing to. My icarsoft will be here tomorrow. Thanks again Lou for getting back to me so quickly. I am going to show your channel to my MB friends.
@@marcissobadass Thank you so much, also share my website www.cartechconnect.com I can help with all car needs, well, most. If I cannot help I know someone that can.
Thanks again, Lou
Will it do ABC suspension rodeo test on a r230 - 2004 SL500?
no this will not, this does not have many bidirectional capabilities at all.
Can the iCarsoft CR Pro Professional Multi-System Multi-Brand able to diagnose the airmatic suspension on a w211 e550 ?
Rod Flo yes, the scanner can access the airmatic for codes and then you can reach me for diagnosis at my site. Www.Cartechconnect.Com
Hi Lou, merry Christmas great tutorial I just subscribed! quick question for you, I just installed my new vacuum pump on my SL550 2008 do I have to reset the system in order of for it to function? it's not doing anything... thank you in advance and merry Christmas
Merry Christmas as well thank you!
Most likely blew fuse 71 in rear fuse box. Check my r230 video for the location. Lou
Hi Lou hope you're doing well.. quick question I change the fuse on my S L550 it was regarding changing the vacuum pump it's still not working, should I just buy one of those scanners to reset the system... Will the dealer be able to do it for me ? I really appreciate your time
@@polojackson21 you don’t need a scanner. The pump most likely fAiled. Or has corrosion in the connection.
Hi Lou Thank you for sharing this , do you know if it works on a old Mercedes s 32o cdi w220 from 2003 ? Can it read and reset Transmission ?
Lars Love yes it can. This model does read the W211 E-Class.
Will this scanner work on the new (VS 30) 2019 Sprinter 3.0? If not, what scanner do you recommend for that vehicle?
Yes this scanner will work but it all depends on your reasons for using this, its best for reading, clearing codes and reading live data. that is what it is limited to.
I got a 2020 gle 350 4 matic will this scanner works for my model let me know thanks
I would get the v3.0
I have a question about the iCarsoft MB II. When I scroll down to reset the EGR, and check ok on my vin #, Sedan, it goes back to vin #. Is that how it works, or not? Shouldn’t it show it’s performing, or complete? I have a 2009 E320 Bluetec which has been going into limp mode.
sounds like the scanner is not able to perform that function.
@@MasterTechLou after trying a few times to reset the EGR, I drove it about 30 miles and it ran great for the first time in weeks, and without a fault code. 🤷♀️
@@janholcombe4538 for the diesels they will self clear once you fix the issue and drive it, they self test every ignition cycle from what we know.
Have you used the MB V2 unit successfully to communicate with an older
Mercedes like mine via the 38 pin OBD port? I know the MB V3.0 series will not work with the dual ECU set up for
my year. Am thinking about the MB V2.0, but before I buy, I would like some assurance it will communicate with
the left and right ECU'S.
The short story is that the unit would communicate with the right ECU (N3/12)
and identified it correctly as an ME-SFI 1.0 unit. The left ECU (N3/11) would be identified as an ME2.8 unit, an 8 cylinder
motor. After a couple of data log exchanges, the software folks modified the software to disallow use of the unit
on SL 600 vehicles prior to the 9/99 (MY2000) time period. There was no effort to work with me to actually
resolve the matter and I returned the unit with the 38 pin adapter to Amazon for a full refund. I was reaching out
to you as a reliable subject matter expert in hopes of finding out if the MB V2.0 might work. The MB V3.0 seemed to
work well with the other modules in the vehicle, however, failed miserably with the Engine Control Modules. If you
have a moment, take a look at the following link. I documented the experience as well as I could. See the
attachment in Post #41.

I have since reached out to the Autel and Foxwell people and been told that their products will only work with the
MY2000 and newer vehicles also. I attribute this to the fact that technology changes made by the EOBD in their
OBD2 standards became the baseline for aftermarket scan tool manufacturers. Needless to say, I was less than
impressed with the Icarsoft customer service.
Lou
Sir, for my 208, what scanner do I use? I have the Mb II...but when you scroll chassis, the w208 is not there
Hello, I no longer have the MBII but I have the V2.0 and it does show the 208. but you will need an adapter most likely as the diagnostic port might still be in the engine bay, its a round port.
Hi
I have a Mercedes ML350 and have the MB v2.0 which is fantastic as I’m finding more and more it does every day.
Stay tuned!
Does this unit or the MB V2.0 have a bleed function to change brake fluid?
tony lee I do not believe so.
hi Tony, this is Jessica from iCarsoft Inc, please kindly note that MB V2.0 can support ABS Bleeding, release the air to restore ABS Brake sensitivity, or relearn while ABS replaced.
You can see more details of MB V2.0 from below link:

Hello, it's great watching this video. Could you tell me if that scanner clears the Teleaid sos defective message on the instrument cluster of '04 S430?
Do you think we can use this tool to activate carplay on supported models?
Can Burak B. No this tool is not bidirectional. That means it only receives info for display. It cannot command or change anything. You would need the mercedes star diagnosis in my other video. Please subscribe if you are a mercedes owner :) thanks
