Summary:
Starlight Glimmer has concocted the ultimate test of friendship and is forcing the mane six to participate. Each element of harmony trait they embody has been twisted into a life-or-death scenario that forces its participants to make choices that not only affect themselves but the ponies around them. Honestly this could’ve all been avoided had Fluttershy called out for Discord. We know that he’s practically omnipresent and if she was in danger, Starlight would be lucky to be alive. Honestly, that would make an interesting alt ending.

In my opinion,everybody had the chance to survive if in every test:
1-they branded themselves instead of others+RD wouldn't be so reckless
2-here are two possibilities:if all ponies are alive,they would choose to stab one of them in the ear,hoof,wing etc;if AppleJack died in the first test,they would stab Applejack
3-everyone would survive because RD wouldn't be dead and so Pinkie Pie won't laugh
4-they would give each other air in order to survive for 5 minutes,considering in this test there would be 6 ponies,not 3
5-I think here it really depends,cuz no matter what they would choose,one of them would die.But at least one,not 5

I hate how sickeningly accurate all of the character's decisions are.
Twilight, Rarity, AND Fluttershy had no loyalty for Rainbow dash. Pinkie pie was even WILLING to take a stab for Rainbow. She was the only one who didn't hit Rainbow dash while the other's BEAT her on the ground 😒
Jasper Hardy, I have to mention that Rainbow did volunteer to be lashed, at least at first. This is proving her loyalty, and she probably knew what it meant for her after Twilight had to choose to lash Dash instead of herself. At that point she still didn't object, though she could add she wasn't too badly hurt yet. She realized she was potentially sacrificing herself and (hopefully) took solace in the fact that her friends wouldn't have to endure the pain.
Point taken but still it's not fair that Rainbow's death was brutal. She shown Loyalty to the others and took a beating on the floor. Everypony EXCEPT PINKIE was stingy with their choices. ESPECIALLY FLUTTERSHY 😒
It's a point well made, and I do agree, at least for the most part.
Both Rarity and Fluttershy were selfish and if had Fluttershy stabbed one the others then Rainbow could have stayed alive much longer.

Thinking about it, it’s exactly like Saw.
Starlight makes it seem like all but one has to die for escape, but she plays fair and by her own rules. I thought about it, and everyone could’ve escaped.
Kindness- Everypony had to burn the other pony
Loyalty- Fluttershy got stabbed, so the stabs are survivable, as she died from the Cider
Laughter- As long as everypony stayed calm, knowing everypony was still alive, oxygen could’ve been preserved, and everypony will have survived
Generosity- This test can be treated like the Laughter test
Magic/Friendship- I’m guessing it had to do with everyponies private life. What everypony really thinks about each other.
Honesty- I’m assuming it would’ve been confessions. If the person, in this case pony, was willing to take anything to live, taking pain is a good trade for a longer life.

I kind of agree but you'd also have to take into account that Fluttershy is also a coward unless pushed the right way. A situation like this tho would definitely cause her to panic and trigger a flight response (since she has very little actual fight in her at heart). She only fights if she thinks she can make a difference. In this situation she's helpless, so she would just give in.
To be fair, Pinkie allowed/insisted on letting Fluttershy brand her.

My perspective about Starlight in this fanfic :
1. She killed 5 innocent ponies and traumatised Rarity for who knows, maybe the rest of her life?
2. She doesn't show a hint of hesitation or remorse while and after doing this evil act
3. She smiles with glee as the ponies cry over the loss of a best friend

they HAD to stab the pony next to them, they couldn't just stab anyone
Deaths in order of pain
6: rarity (she was branded but lived)
5. Applejack ( she was killed by a strong electric shock which was most likely painful but quick)
4. Twilight ( drowned; obviously a traumatic death but didn’t endure an unbearable amount of pain)
3. Fluttershy (poisoned by a fast acting poison, so was painful but fast)
2. Pinkie ( the laughing gas would have poisoned her, and would have been incredibly painful since it seemed to burn pinkies fur and throat)
1. Rainbow dash (was beaten to DEATH! Rainbow was in so much pain due to each lash that she ended up dying, and her pain lasted the longest)
This is just my opinion, if you have another please let me know!
I think Twilight should be number 3. When you drown, it's not just your lungs that fill with water, but other organs too. After your lungs can't take anymore it floods into your stomach. And as soon as your muscles all relax, everything ends up filled with water. She held on for about 3 minutes until she finally passed out. And even then, she could have been resuscitated.
Flutters only endured the pain of the poison for a few moments. And even then, it was less of a pain thing and more of a, "I'm choking on my own spit because my throat is swelling". That's usually how a lot of poisons work. They swell up your throat so you can't throw it up. And even if that didn't happen, it would have just made her feel sick with a stomach ache.
Applejack died instantly. Twilight should be first in my opinion. Drowning is known to be one of the most painful and traumatic ways to die.
Rarity: Tells Celestia and Luna, Discord over hears,
Discord: Fockin destroy Starlight and throws her out into space,
Everyone else: .o.
Celestia: I was gonna send her to the moon, but that's fine too.

This makes you realize how selfish Rarity actually is. She is the element of generosity, but in the show she seems to care only of herself. She's truly a strong character, she does care deeply for her friends, but in the end, she would be the selfish one. Poor Rarity, having to live with a selfish and generous heart.

true this is what rarity would do after dressmaking- -dressmaking- I LOVE DRESSES -lets starlight make dresses with her- forgets about friends gets her friend's picture throws away cuz she no remember who they are and replaces with a picture of her and starlight making dresses then sweety bell remembers them and tells her and shows the tree picture but she no remember and when she goes to see tree it is black all elements are gone she covers them and makes it into the ONLY RARITY TREE and takes out all the keys the palace disappears and ponyville is chaos she doesn't care and they all die she is left alive with starlight the pony world is now nothing sweety bell trying to show her but she still no care the tree place where twilight used to live is destroyed and there are graves there and rarity takes down MANE 5's graves and digs up and puts the cutie mark crusader on top of mane 5 and puts starlight and her cat in the other two graves the puts the mud on themand then rarity dies and the world is gone.....the end
Wanting to live is selfish now? This test is all about survival and friendship doesn’t count here. Being the bigger person adds nothing to the fact that someone has to carry the guilt of surviving. It doesn’t really matter who it is. All lifes are equal. So the only thing that sets them apart is the will to live.
Well, really a lot of this isn't necessarily truthful. A lot of them would rather them be hurt then their friends, particularly Fluttershy and Rarity. But I do understand the survival thing.
Wait... If discord can alternate reality, can't he bring the ponies back? And can't Celestia bring the others back to life with a spell?
For discord he would probably be able to but seeing as she is dead like gone gone she would most likely be a spirit or entity as it unbalances life as being back someone is like brining back a zombie or something like that.
As for celestia no magic would be able to bring back a pony It is impossible even if it were to It would be like what I said with discord they would be just a spirit or entity

A simple time travel spell and nullifing magic in the vicinity to starlight would've worked
To be fair to all the Mane 6 in this fanfic, Starlight's test was mainly a Test of Survival using the 'characteristics' of each elements of friendship as a cover.
So the true question are: Is it selfish to want to preserve your own life rather than sacrifice it to save others? Could you save the others if you picked to sacrifice yourself? Or is choosing to save your own life the only way one will survive if all others will die anyways?
When under such stressful situations it's hard to tell and sometimes even hard to blame others for choices that they make. Even the one who survives at the end (via being spared or through means of survival) will usually suffer from survives guilt (Unless they are just that cold and uncaring.) Usually emotions run high and most won't think logically off the bat if at all due to the tension and fear. Though looking at Starlight's tests I believe that if they all were given a choice to really pause to calm their nerves and think then most of the Mane 6 likely would've survived' as only a few had the possibility of death.
~ Example~
~~Test 1) Take 1 for the Team : The choice of who got branded went in a circle, so if everyone would've agreed to sacrifice a flank (give it to the pony on their right) then everyone would've gotten branded and no one would've been seen as selfish. Or even if they were selfish no one would've died. ((Rainbow's rash decision is what killed AJ and AJ's death is all on her as the 6 were told what would happen if one tried to escape or if they didn't follow the rules. And trying to attack Starlight was a poor choice to begin with.))
~~Test 2) Give n Take: This one is a bit harder, since Rainbow was to receive all the lashings then taking 1 or 2 rounds seemed to be as much as she could take before doing major damage. Starlight did say you could stab any part of the body and it had to be to the hilt. So I'm thinking if not for the 1 or 2 lashes everyone could've stabbed the other through the ear all the way and due less damage. If not a repeat of the ear then perhaps an arm or leg. (Again this one was a bit harder)
~~Test 3) Chance: Given that there was poisonous laughing gas involved this one was is up in the air.Though seeing how competitive Rainbow and AJ are I think they would've been able to hold their breaths long enough like the others. And with Rainbow and AJ being alive Pinkie might not have been so overwhelmed with emotions and lost.
~~Test 4) Share the water punishment equally: Depending on how much water was in that vat if all or even 5 of them were alive then perhaps there wouldn't be as much water and all would've had enough room at the top to breath and there for no one would drown. (But if they all filled up to the tippy top with little room then it really is up in the air. Some could drown if they couldn't stay afloat due to wounds or whatever else)
~~Test 5 & 6) Undetermined: With the poison cider I believe 1 pony would've died regardless since it is posion, unless that number increased if Starlight uped the number. And since AJ died in the beginning we don't know what test was for Twlight's element so that is up in the air too.
So at the very least 1 or 2 might've died. But that is if they had the time to think logically and process what was going on. Starlight was smart in that aspect. Not giving them time to process or listen to each other allowed for their choices to really be their own instead of how they usually talk thinks out for better results. AJ would've definitely calmed down everyone in this situation if given a chance. And Starlight only given them enough time to hear her rules and only so much time to make a choice or action caused a bit more panic, she clearly knew how to make sure everyone acted mainly off their own raw emotions in that exact moment.
But when first listening to this beautifully written & voiced fanfic: Upon hearing what Starlight had planned with these tests, and seeing how AJ was killed off, I already knew Rarity would be the last one standing (unless the other girls picked to sacrifice her). And I'm not trying to bash on any pony as they all have their flaws/weakness (Fluttershy being easily scared/cowardly and Rainbow being brash and jumping the gun was highlighted in the fanfic) And despite being the element of generosity anyone who watches the show knows that Rarity, while being over all 'nice' with her own moments, is a selfish pony who only shows her generosity when she's almost forced to due to a situation or that her reputation will be tarnished as of result of not doing so. Just like her name it's a rarity that she shows any act of generosity; and the ones that she does is so small and simply that any pony with common decency would do it.

I know this will sound horrible but I was hoping that Starlight added an extra rule for the test's winner. That being that whoever wins the Friendship Test only gets to leave if they won mainly for being true to their friends and not due to betrayal and dishonesty. Clearly Rarity would've been killed off if that happened but hey, this only showed Starlight's point that friendship is only held at face value and the 'true power/magic' is only as powerful as the individual wielding it. The results are a bit suiting from what Starlight probably expected though, thanks to her selfishness and betrayal (mainly to Fluttershy) Rarity gets to go home nearly unharmed, besides the branding, from this ordeal. Though those last haunting words of "Friendship isn't Magic' will likely add to the mental trauma she'll have to deal with knowing she sacrificed her 'friends' to save her own life. (If any at all because knowing Rarity she'll likely get over it after some time/ moving away and make more friends and move on with her life unless outside sources has any effect on it.)
And I highly doubt Rarity will do anything to seek revenge knowing that Starlight might try to kill her if she fails in seeking vengeance. Maybe telling Discord and/or the Princess' but beyond that Starlight got a free pass.

For test three, Rarity would've gone I think ,Considering her strategy was to hold her breath for as long as possible. It is implied that if Pinkie died too late, Rarity would have inhaled the gas after running out of air.

Psychologically speaking, if the first pony chose to brand themselves over branding their fellow pony, then the rest would have naturally been inclined to brand themselves as well, so that everypony would only have to endure having one cutie mark removed.
But as soon as Fluttershy, who as the element of kindness thus represents the example of kindness, gave into her fears and branded Pinkie, kindness was dead.

Man this is some good stuff, but also pretty morbid. I personally think Twilight’s death was the worst out of the 5 that died. I mean she sacrificed herself for the greater good, and she didn’t just die, she drowned. Have you ever tried to see how long you could hold you breath? Well she held her breath for as long as she could, but the catch is she couldn’t simply breath when she ran out. She probably had convulsions holding her breath. She just had to accept her fate and take one last look at her friends before she was “eliminated”. She took every chance she had to save her friends and not herself. Friendship truly is magic with Twilight.
Also, it makes a lot of sense that Rarity was the one that lived through all of this. Often in the show, she is seen as very selfish and definitely not generous. Everyone that died I think truly believed in there element of harmony that they possess. Rainbow showed loyalty when she died because she was being loyal to her friends and taking the stabs for everyone else. Applejack didn’t get much of a chance, but I believe she was spared from all the horror that went down. Pinkie showed the element of laughter when she died, because she couldn’t resist the urge to laugh remembering the good times with rainbow and how she wanted to leave to a better place where she could make others and herself laugh all they want. Twilight, like I said, died sacrificing herself for her friends, realizing that Starlights intentions were for one pony to die at each stage of her tests. Knowing that if Nopony presses a button then they will all surely die, she tells Rairty and Fluttershy to push her button for the greater good. Finally, Fluttershy, she may not of been very kind at the beginning, but she was, in a way, punished for that. She was the last to die and had to witness all the horrible things done to her friends and herself. But in the end she was showing kindness to Rarity by picking chance instead of choice. In the end Rarity is selfish and earns herself a life of depression. The end. (Probably went on way to long, props to you for reading this far)
That, and drowning is a horrible way to die.

This decision of her's to put her friends through torment after trying to earn her redemption over a season is on the same level of forced as Jamie Lannister regressing into the slimy lover for Cersei in GoT Season 8.

To be fair it seems to me like Rarity is the one who would be missed the least which means she can bring the most ponies together. If Fluttershy was the one who would survive, Im sure Discord would help her get revenge on Starlight and save her friends but since Fluttershy died he lost the person who he cared for most. Same goes for the others. Princess Celestia would go full rage mode just like all the others including Rarity, so there would be a high chance of seeing Nightmare Rarity which would be great. So yeah, even if you don't like Rarity, she's probably the best pony to return home, presuming that all of the ponies unite and find a way to save their friends and punish Starlight.

She willingly takes two brandings and the pain that comes from it, as it is temporary and her maiming is only a cosmetic wound. She is correct that a deep stab wound's lethality presents a serious risk, and blunt trauma to a non-vital part of the body is surviveable, but she both fails to control her own swings with the rod, or anticipate where the others strike Rainbow, costing her her life. She avoids panicking from the gas and regulates her breathing. And sacrifices herself so her friends can move on to the last test. She is best pony here.
4. Rainbow Dash is very selfless in sparing her friends the pain from the rod, perhaps in part due to overestimating how tough she is. But she gets Applejack killed with her rash decision to attack Starlight, despite having been warned.
3. Pinkie Pie plays favourites based on who she thinks is least deserving of suffering, almost being clairvoyant in who she chooses to hurt. But willing to suffer herself for who is 'deserving'. She insists of sparing Fluttershy a branding to save her the trauma, but not a stabbing and actually wrestles her to the ground to do it. She 'deserves' it for seemingly killing Rainbow Dash. Rainbow is Pinkie's best friend and she argues against her flaggellation at every turn because Dash won't survive it regardless of how Rainbow thinks she can take it. Pinkie has no compunction against branding or stabbing Rarity, because she is cruel and selfish, and Pinkie will not even take a branding for her. Had Pinkie survived the third test, I doubt she would have argued against Twilight sacrificing herself when she chose to beat Rainbow Dash rather than stab Rarity. And if she made it to the last test, I imagine she would have tricked Rarity into drinking the poison. And before you ask how Pinkie could have possibly anticipated any of this, remember it's Pinkie Pie.
2. Fluttershy does very poorly. She is squeamish, and unwilling to suffer for another pony. She is neither rational like Twilight about her own discomfort, nor brave in self sacrifice like Rainbow Dash, and not even moral in her choices. Who lives or dies is often out of her hoof or she proves indecisive. Pinkie proves willing to suffer twice at Fluttershy's choice, but she illogically beats Rainbow Dash, who's already near death, to spare herself from having to stab someone, and not even endure the pain herself. This 'earns' her the stabbing she got from Pinkie in hindsight (/foresight?). She listens to Twilight's reasoning in the 4th test, but not the 2nd, and this kills two ponies without a consistent rationale. And in the prisoner dilemma, she makes the worst possible decision by trusting Rarity who, having witnessed how fickle Fluttershy is, works her to once again absolve herself of personal accountability, to Rarity's benefit. She is the idiot teenager in a slasher film. But it must be stressed that fear is entirely irrational and our ability to calmly judge her actions is only because we're not experiencing what she is.
1. Rarity is truly abysmal as a friend here. She is vociferously afraid of being scarred or disfigured, befitting her vanity. Unbefitting of her generosity, she immediately elects to brand Twilight who would have volunteered, but is still shocked to hear no hesitation. She is tactfully silent when the option of being stabbed is presented to Twilight. She has the option to stab Pinkie, who is accepting of it, but betrays a more cold-hearted form of logic in writing Dash off as a lost cause so she won't kill Pinkie by accident, as Twilight warns. She holds her breath, like Twilight, but is not 'at peace' enough to keep it through the entirety of the 3rd test. Like Fluttershy, she does not object to drowning Twilight, accepting the ruthless logic of a pony more willing to sacrifice for others. Finally, she very deliberately tricks Fluttershy into agreeing that they both choose 'Chance' with the intention of picking 'Choice' to save her own skin. Even though Fluttershy seemed to agree to this, Rarity didn't trust her like a friend and based her gambit off of suspicion of Fluttershy's erratic choices. Fluttershy had to be convinced it was up to fate once more to improve Rarity's own chances of not being backstabbed herself. All throughout, Rarity was utterly selfish and acted disgracefully.
And all that said, I identify most with Rarity. While I might share some of Twilight's rationality in that pain is temporary, I am definately not a martyr like her and Rainbow Dash. I do not have Pinkie Pie's certainty of character and having to live on believing whoever died 'deserved it' is a slippery slope to justifying a monstrosity that would haunt me the rest of my life. Fluttershy's choices amount to having to accept that fate exists, and random deaths occur without a reason. Faced with death's total oblivion and living life feeling as a murderer, there is always hope as long as there is life. Guilt is something that can be overcome. Of course, remaining friends or family will argue it wasn't your fault, that blame should rest with Starlight, that you're not responsible for the horrifically twisted actions of the person giving you such awful choices. None of those comforts are true, because it is selfish to want to live. At the expense of another, sometimes. I would rather accept the guilt that comes with acting in self-preservation than accept I'm just 'lucky' to survive such an ordeal.
Rarity’s the living definition of survive at all costs in this. She literally did not hesitate to drown Twilight when she was willing to sacrifice herself.

I love hearing you read MLP Creepypastas, I’m usually not the one to feel sick or disturbed by Creepypastas or horror movies anymore. (Because I’m a Horror movie fanatic) But this read just made me feel disturbed, I’ve loved MLP since it first came out. The writer made a wonderful Creepypasta that did it’s job. this is an amazing fanfic and i was surprised to find Rarity the last survivor. i didn't think one specific pony was going to survive, but i honestly didn't think Rarity to be the one to survive. still, it is a cool and sad ending.
Now to make myself feel better, I'm going to try to point out potholes. First off, if each test was truly meant to eliminate one pony each, what if Rainbow Dash had simply branded herself? I mean, Starlight seemed surprised at her decision. Fluttershy could have just stabbed Applejack. "Anypony of your choosing," Starlight said, so that includes AJ... Also, she seemed to want Twilight to endure the most pain, so why didn't she want the others to whip her? That may have been to have Twilight have to watch her friend suffer, but I think Fluttershy would have been better since they seem to care about her being hurt the most. They could have just taken the blade right under the skin like when a needle pokes you so it comes cleanly out (if that makes any sense) Also, I know Pinkie went out laughing to have painful irony but could have just as easily died from breathing, crying, or talking. And I'm honestly surprised none of the others decided to brand themselves other than Twilight. They all seem like they would want to protect each other even though the pain, at least in that first "test". Yeah, this has gotten way long but now this doesn't feel as sickening and sad to me since there are plot holes. But overall, that was really well written.

I also noticed what seems to be a writing error. Starlight says that the pony who picks “chance” would be killed from the cider mug, but yet Fluttershy’s had “choice”, and she died. I would say since it’s the honesty test that Starlight lied, but the line where it says Rarity’s betrayal was clearly shown on her face, makes me think this is a writing error, and Rarity’s mug was meant to have “choice”, and Fluttershy’s was meant to have “chance”.

if they were all in a right state of mind and clearheaded, though probably not feasible as they were likely too shocked and traumatized to logically and rationally conjure a plan, + they wouldnt have enough time to think during and before the test anyway.
It would be interesting to see how the mane six would all get out of this one, thobeit the story wouldnt be what it is without a bad ending.
Oh my gosh I remember seeing this like a year ago, and it’s still as amazing and frightening as I remember! The voice acting conveys so much emotion, and the extremely detailed writing makes it even better! Keep up the outstanding work!! :)

It's very brutral and heartbreaking, and after all what happend in this I wonder.. Will Rarity tell anyone about what happend? I'd say yes, but perhaps she would hesitate. Starlight did show her how powerful she is, killing off 5 of the most powerful defenders of Equestria (one of which was an alicorn), and even threatend her in a way that she should fear her powers if she told anybody.
Now imagine Rarity trying to explain to Pinkies, Rainbows, Apple Jacks, Twilights, and Fluttershys families about what happend. Try it.
She’ll probably pretend to be insane and tell their families she killed them. After all, Rarity mentioned that there was no point in continuing her life’s work. She’ll probably come up with a story about how she wanted Equestria for herself and had always planned to murder the rest of the mane 6…..it would be much easier for her to rot in jail or be executed for a false charge than live with the painful memories and shame.
This was less disturbing and more beautifully written, like I could see myself there and think about the choices as well and how good they wrote these characters, it’s so accurate
As messed up as this was I really enjoyed it. I know a lot of people are comparing it to "Would You Rather?", but I think it far exceeds that as the movie bored me. Like many horror movies, we're thrown in with random characters. These characters are friends and if we're watching we know and love them, making it hurt more watching them suffer and make difficult choices.

I think we all expected for all of them to take their own brand in the first test. But them not following that showed the severity of the situation and it also was done in a way that didn't feel totally out of character.

1. Fluttershy is weak and she knows her friends know it (She said herself when discord tried to corrupt her). Leaving her to rely on Pinkie who offered to take the brand.
2. Pinkie already knowing the pain of being branded and not wanting to lose the other.
3. Rarity's choice foreshadowing the end (notice all her choices during the tests)
4. Twilight shouldering it all as the Princess of Friendship.
5. Rainbow Dash is known for being brash leading to AJ's death, but would absolutely take the brand if need be
Idk if you knew this, people are comparing it to would you rather because one of the choices are incredibly similar to the movie and Magpie even says in the link below that “The Friendship Test addresses these issues while paying homage to some of my favorite horror stories and movies including "Circle" and "Would You Rather".”

I feel so bad for Rainbow. I feel hers was the most heartwrenching, as you hear her gargled noises as shes hit each time. And I know Pinkie was trying to help her friend, but RD was already in so much pain, and was probably to broken, to even have a chance of a happy life again.

Pinkie normally isn't my favorite, but from how she acted here I think she deserved to live more than Rarity
Applejack was the lucky one. Not a sound came from her. She died instantly. The rest of them were conscious and fully aware of what was happening and suffered.

Part 2:
Once free from the room, rarity gets summoned to chaosville by the cutie map. She and discord come up with a plan.
Good ending: Starlight gets sent to tartarus and discord brings the mane 5 back to life.
Bad ending: Starlight finds out about the plan and knocks out discord and rarity...

I haven't listened to this since it first came out, and even though I've moved past MLP, this is really good lmao. I like listening to it while drawing just for the bg noise. I can concentrate more when stories are playing while I draw, so this is perfect.

Rarity is kind of selfish, many times she has to realize what she went wrong in order to fix things, in this case it’s too late to fix things
Flutter shy is nice, TOO NICE, which has the opposite effect, hence why she was seen selfish, and stuff
Fluttershy, the element of kindness, chooses to brand one of her friends. That was a huge mistake. They should've all branded themselves. If they already got branded by one of their friends, they'll be less willing to do it again, but they might be more likely to brand themselves once to save their friends.
