Wow, I had no idea how intricate the sample was. I thought the original sample sounded exactly as it did on Sing About Me. Props to the producer and to the boy Sandurz.
I said, when the lights shut offf And its my turn to settle down My main concern is promise That you will sing about me Promise that you will sing about me
I woke up this morning and figured I'd call you in case you're not here tomorrow I'm hoping that I can borrow a piece of mind I'm behind on what's really important my mind is really distorted I find nothing but trouble in my life
I don't understand how producers are able to see such a harmonious connection between small chops that are so distant from each other. It's incredible.
They don’t just “see” them. They chop everything up and just fuck around with it til it sounds right. Trust me. You add one piece that sounds good coming from the previous piece and just repeat until you got something
@@jonathanbobo722 Yeah but the question is where should each chop begin? I personally very very rarely find auto choppers like Seranto Sample and Fruity Slicer to be helpful. If you're doing manual chopping then you still need a great ear.
Sandurz Yeah as soon as I opened those kits up I was like Im positive knxwledge has used these shits at least once. Im pretty sure the hi hat he used in that track is the grits n bacon one.
Man, I've always loved this sampling technique. This is pretty much exactly how Dilla sampled a lot of his stuff, so masterful and precise. Sampling is an art, I don't give af what anyone says. This is just beautiful.
+Alex Harmon (Leader of Dislike Squad) I love the Money Trees beat, I recommend this video featuring the producer showing how he made the beat if you haven't seen it already /watch?v=3PzHtvaImL0
Putting the use of the sample together is insane. Both recreating the beat, and actually making it for the first time. It takes a fine-tuned to ear to hear that segment and build this off it it.
I realized not to long ago that the Bill Withers drum loop is so overused but so good. But big ups to Pac Div, never knew it was chopped, always thought it was a live instrumental. Learn something new everyday.
+Lucid Dreamer the way Like chopped it he put some reaaaaalll swing on it I forgot to mention I had it super straight for the longest and went in and got it lined up exactly the same and it made a huge difference
This song is so powerful for me. So many heavy heavy feeling wrapped up in it. I listened to this album, oxymoron, and watching movies all on repeat all around the same time while going through some heavy stuff. Crazy how a song can truly transport you to somewhere else. I can feel the weather, the emotions, who I was with. All of it. Crazy man. Thank you for this.
this is one of my favorite hip hop beats, and my personal favorite Kendrick song ever, this instrumental is beautifully props to Like and you for showing us
Seriously, I think this is the most impressive example of sample slicing and re-arrangement I've seen yet. Fantastic work putting that back together so cohesively.
I wish more people could see the production side of hip hop, i try to explain to people but they always tell me the same thing “they just talk about money girls and cars”
This is one of the most sophisticated samples of all time. The intricacy with which it was cut and arranged astounds me. As a whole its such a subtle and beautiful composition that, because of its seamless nature, betrays the level of complexity that went into piecing together this beat; which is a testament to the artfulness of the producer. To me this shows mastery of the craft of sampling. A moment of brilliance that a producer MIGHT get a few times in their life.... and how in the absolute fuck do you have the ear to hear what he did and reproduce it lol??? I salute you Sandurz because your skill for recreating these beats is awe inspiring. Now, maybe I'm overstating it and it's not all that hard to create this beat, but something tells me it would be profoundly difficult to have the intention of trying to cut a beat this way and executing it. At least you have the actual song to reference so you can re-create it, but, as for how Like did this without a precedent to follow and creating the beat on his own and selecting the slices he did from the assortment of chords, timbres, and notes which change so radically in the original track is entirely beyond me! Another beat that unequivocally baffles me as to how the slices were selected and arranged is "Don't Cry" - J Dilla
Awesome you did a flawless remake. I just wanted to say you made a small mistake, Sing About Me was produced by Sounwave and Skhye Hutch, Like only produced Dying of Thirst, but regardless you did a great job.
+Sandurz Damn Sorry my bad! RapGenius apparently made the mistake to switch up the Producers, I shouldn't have taken that source for reliable. I checked the booklet of GKMC and it's right the way you said it.
dude could you do don't kill my vibe by kendrick, i reproduced it 2 years ago but till this day i am still stumped by the symphonic outro and i believe you're skilled enough to break it down.
The chopping of this sample is genius
+B Rack Beats it's a dang work of art
+Sandurz Anything Kendrick or something Noah 40 shebib made is cool with me
+Sandurz That's some inspirational sampling.
All he did was isolate the plucked strings and chords but the way he played it rhythmically so it was different from the original was crazy
+B Rack Beats Imagine sitting in the lab, working this out and then it suddenly clicks!
This beat is constructed like a jigsaw puzzle...it's beautiful
Like is a Genius. I hope to be this skilled someday. He literally pieced together perfect melody out of thin air.
@@isaiahcampbell3992 And the fact that this Legend can perfectly break it down is just as insane....
Wow, I had no idea how intricate the sample was. I thought the original sample sounded exactly as it did on Sing About Me. Props to the producer and to the boy Sandurz.
Yeah same, when I heard it on whosampled I thought it was just slowed down a bit
When the lights shut off
And it's my turn to settle down
My main concern
Promise that you will sing about me
Promise that you
will sing a bout me
I said, when the lights shut offf
And its my turn to settle down
My main concern is promise
That you will sing about me
Promise that you will sing about me
Yes, those are the lyrics
I woke up this morning and
figured I'd call you
in case you're not here tomorrow
I'm hoping that I can borrow a
piece of mind
I'm behind on what's really important
my mind is really distorted
I find nothing but trouble in my life
Lyrics that make you think
That sample chopping is like putting together a puzzle piece, its amazing
+Mazula Awundaga exactly what i thought!
I don't understand how producers are able to see such a harmonious connection between small chops that are so distant from each other. It's incredible.

Mines along with poetic justice & backstreet freestyle.
Same
this and How Much A Dollar Cost
This, The art of peer pressure, Momma, wesley’s theory and Fuck your Ethnicity
I think this is one of the best samples ever, it's so excellent.
You know what, I applaud you, that was awesome.
+Static are you sure that like didnt filter out that, cymbal noise on a few of the chops tho?
+Static a lil bit but they're still there. Not crucial to the sound imo but yeah some EQ brought those down a little i reckon
+Static also you might have been spot on about the tip on them Momma drums at least in the ballpark
+Static I never tagged those 'stick_' samples so they weren't in my library had no clue they existed
Sandurz Yeah as soon as I opened those kits up I was like Im positive knxwledge has used these shits at least once. Im pretty sure the hi hat he used in that track is the grits n bacon one.
I'm literally shedding tears on how beautiful this sounds... he took multiple chops and made it sound like it was originally recorded that way
I literally just found out this wasn't made on a live guitar in studio, this chop is actually insane
Man, I've always loved this sampling technique. This is pretty much exactly how Dilla sampled a lot of his stuff, so masterful and precise. Sampling is an art, I don't give af what anyone says. This is just beautiful.
We miss you man 😢
am i worth it? did i put enough work in?
Now I NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDDDD Money Trees!
+Alex Harmon (Leader of Dislike Squad) I love the Money Trees beat, I recommend this video featuring the producer showing how he made the beat if you haven't seen it already /watch?v=3PzHtvaImL0
+Alex Harmon (Leader of Dislike Squad) Dahi did a breakdown on R&R channel
+Alex Harmon (Leader of Dislike Squad) play silver souls backwards you will get chills
there's a video with the production of that track. though it's not by Sandurz
never realized the slicing in this beat was this crazy
hip hop is beautiful. lol music is beautiful..
The strings were actually live.

Only song to ever make me cry. Genius.
I wish more people could see the production side of hip hop, i try to explain to people but they always tell me the same thing “they just talk about money girls and cars”
They don't know what real Hip-hop sounds like and sadly they won't care
This is utterly insane, love this
Such a beautiful sample. Amazing video man. This is my favorite song ever
You gotta do something off of MadGibbs "Piñata"
Yes

This is one of the rare incredibles!!
Favorite beat of all time no doubt
Wonderful instrumental
Sandurz always bringing the quality.
This is similar to how the chopping of “Started From The Bottom” sample is. Love this

This is the type channel I've been looking for. Subscribing right now

I can't fathom the artistic ability that the producer has to be able to create that from that sample

I like this song
Breakdown a logic beat from his new album
Like woah
Through it like woah
Through it like woah..
+J. Ream This is almost a breakdown of Metropolis, Logic sampled the same song for the drum beat and it sounds really similar to sing about me.
+Drcoconut272 yeah cus logic is meh
LouieK322 true
+Drcoconut272 he sample was way too similar and only makes me think of Sing About Me by Kendrick
Dang this is tight as hell
Seriously impressive how you broke it down.
