whats even more incredible about this song, is Diesel pretty much only plays guitar, he is a powerhouse voice in his own right, but he is among royalty here and respectively lets them do their thing, Bravo to all involved..
OMG! You have to react to the live version of this song!! John & Jimmy always sound best live. Watch “Hey, Hey, It’s Saturday” live performance of this song-vocally the best imo-it’ll give you chills
Two brilliant voices (and of course Diesel on guitar and backing vocals) back when there was no autotune and artists had to actually rely on their talent to sell music. And all are such wonderful people and gentlemen 🥰
Two of the greatest vocalists to come out of Australia. Jimmy with the low gritty voice then 'the voice' himself John Farnham with the full range and a bit of grit. And the guitar solo Diesel another Australian singer such an awesome video to watch.
There are soooo many performances of Johns to recommend it's hard to suggest without a list a mile long: But, one I am sure you will love is: Angels - Live 2000 where he sings with one of his long time backing vocalists, Lisa Edwards - with a bit of humour thrown in at the start.
Love your reactions to our gorgeous Australiam music royalty. These 3 are fantastic together but they are even better live. And not one live performance of this song is the same. They truly are unique and truly eeserve all the playtime they are getting now. Thanks Andrea ❤❤
Yes, it's the music video. Please do react to a live version of this song. Always go live with John Farnham. I personally like the ARIA awards version or there's a 'hey hey it's Saturday' tv show version too. Thank you, can't wait to see more :)
Yes, completely agree! The three guys also end with an amazing a capella. LIVE is always the way to go (IMO) with John & friends. (I imagine this was 'almost' live, edited after? Yes, their lip sync is hard to fault.) Jimmy & John appreciate & admire each others talent & ability; along with a long friendship.
Vocal coaches do prefer to react to studio versions as this is where they’re likely to get the best quality vocal recording. Live versions can be very risky and poor quality- you never know what you’re going to get .. unless you do one of mine that is 🤣 😜
I'd generally agree, especially when it comes to John performing live, however personally I feel the audio fidelity in this version is significantly superior to that of any of the live performances. For me, fidelity is fundamental to listening enjoyment and it's not often that anything trumps this.
Two of the very best male vocalists that Australia has to offer you should have done a live version to see them bounce off each other. P.S. Diesel( Mark Lizotte) is singing the third harmony in the verse
Jimmy and John have very different styles. I’ve never been a fan of many of Jimmy’s songs through Cold Chisel and sounds often like he’s just screaming. However, he has a beautiful tone to his voice, great pitch and power. The gravel in his voice works for the songs he sings. John is The Voice as far as I’m concerned but I’ve come to appreciate Jimmy’s talents. The two of them have such power and control and also know music really well, so they can play around with their sound. They really blend well. I really would love to hear Jimmy sing some quieter ballads because he has such a great timbre and warmth. John could sing anything and I’d listen!!
Same. Jimmy doesn’t have much technique even if he does have a nice/ok voice. There’s a version of “when the war is over” live with John Farnham. Jimmy was a special guest and he was just screaming till his voice cracked to try to keep up with John who is pure perfection and power.
@@gigisplayground4657 Yes, I know the one you are speaking about. I think it's awful and I think Jimmy admitted it was pretty off. I think it's a shame because I really like Jimmy's rich tone when he isn't screaming. But still, he's had a rough life, so singing rough probably suited where he was at. I think he has mellowed.
Totally enjoyed your reaction, Andrea. Thankyou. This is a music video. Not live, but they are even better live. There are live versions on youtube. Diesel, the guitarist, is also a fantastic singer and has his own songs as well. Three great artists coming together to put some magic into this old Sam and Dave song. ❤
Jimmy Barnes was a member of the Australian rock group Cold Chisel, the guitarist is Jimmy Barnes brother-in-law, Johnny Diesel; another great Australian artist, from Diesel and The Injectors.
Barnsey, Farnsey and a splash of Diesel. Fantastic version of a classic Motown song. Even better live! Both Jimmy and John have decades of brilliant songs. Diesel also has some great songs.
Love your reactions! ❤ these guys are a class act. Most amazing voices together. The fun and mutual respect shines through ❤ As with any Farnham clip you ABSOLUTELY just CANNOT take your eyes off his performance or you will miss all the little gems of performance. 🎭 Age of Reason, When the War is Over, Amazing Grace, Love is in Need.
What jimmy barnes and Tina turna combination.you get the same vibe of them as freinds and having fun with the vocal interaction . Song, simply the best.
Aussie rock royalty right here. I was always more of a Jimmy fan back in the day but now that I look back, John was a way better vocalist than I gave him credit for. Jimmy has so many great albums and songs, both with Cold Chisel and as a solo performer. I have no idea where to start with a recommendation, as there are so many, but his original 90’s version of Stone Cold is amazing. He also did a fantastic job covering Percy Sledge’s “When a Man Loves a Woman” and there is a great live version of that on TH-cam. Thank you for the reaction to two legends
FYI, Reactions for John Farnham, Jimmy Barnes, Cold Chisel and Johnny Diesel should be live as their performances are a show in themselves. JOHN is now 75 and Jimmy is 68. Gotten better with age.
I saw an interview with Jimmy Barnes this year and he had a heavy head cold and was asked about if his voice was affected as he had gigs coming up....... he said even though he couldn't speak that well at the moment, he could still "peel" paint off the walls:....
This is not lip singing. It is a studio version, as opposed to live, but they are really singing. Most people prefer the live versions of this song but I have a real soft spot for this one. I love it. Thanks for your reaction.
*You are so honest and fresh in your comments and thoughts. You live in the moment and you don't waste any time on filtering yourself. You are very, very cool. Always know that some people see the special in you. Living that way is the best way - even though it means you kind of live skinless and easy to get hurt. It's an artist thing. And that's what you are Andrea.*
Three superstar's of Australian rock. The Guitarist is Jonny Diesel. Jimmy Barnes has had a successful solo career but also sang for Cold Chisel. John Farnham also had a hugely successful solo career but also sang with the little river band. I have heard stories that they drank way to much whilst recording. Edited live recording
The guitarist is "Johnny Diesel" ( Mark Lizotte)... an accomplished musician singer and songwriter in his own right. And Jimmy Barnes' brother in law. You need to check out his music and performances.
Hi Andrea, I like your reactions, especially to our man John Farnham. His performances live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra are the best. You could also check out his version of Long Way To the Top which is an AC DC song, and Playing to Win. His performance of Getshemene from the musical Jesus Christ Superstar is phenomenal and a must see is his live version of Amazing Grace with his two back up singers Lindsay Field and Vanetta Fields - its sublime. While I'm at it, another fantastic Aussie talent is Guy Sebastian. He won Australian Idol twenty years ago and is still going strong. He's an amazing songwriter with a great voice - his live performances are fabulous and I would start with his song Battle scars live on the home front in his studio which was a concert that singers did on camera during COVID lockdown. His emotional school choir surprise is also one of the best as well as Before I Go live in a recording studio at a radio station. Hope to see you do these on your channel soon.
Both of these guys never sing a song the same way twice. They both improvise every single performance. If you watch any of the live performances of this song they do it a little differnt every time. In fact their live performances are even more improvised with higher highs, lower lows and even more vocal runs. Easy to see that both of them are masters of their vocal instruments. And both naturally talented and neither had vocal lessons. John prefers to sing music videos live as is a terrible lip syncer. 💋
These 2 are two of the greatest voices to ever come out of Australia! Please do a reaction video on Jimmy Barnes featuring guitarist Joe Bonamassa. Jimmy’s voice with Joe’s guitar playing is something you are going to love so much!!
-Hard- impossible to beat the Barnsy and Farnsy version - but Diesel is one of my (if not my VERY favourite) performers - having said that - was one version better than the other?
@@pdloder Jimmy and John easy. The night I saw Diesel, I don’t know if he was sick, or drunk, or stoned, but it was probably the worst show I ever saw. Completely lifeless. It felt like he’d rather be standing at the back of the stage playing a guitar. Left very disappointed.
Of course with the advent of MTV video clips bringing music from all over the World into our living rooms, these clips had a place, but many of us (Aussies) were able to see live bands 7 days a week at pubs and clubs all over Australia and a performer/band had to be good singing live to make any money in our small market. We really were spoiled with brilliant talent from Australia, New Zealand and Brits. In actual fact, the American born guitarist in the clip Diesel (Mark Lizotte), is Jimmy’s brother-in-law who also had his own successful career as Diesel & the Injectors.
Loved your reaction to one of my favourites. Love these guys. Music to my happy ears. Both singers and Mr lead guitarist Diesel all easy on the eye too 😉 Aahh memories😌♥️
I'm an absolute barnsey fan. I can recognise the quality of farnsey's voice as I can the quality of mossey but there is something jimmy brings that's special, exçeptional and makes everyrhing he does a different level of fantastic.
sound the same live too, there are a few live performances of this song together, i Love the Hey Hey its Saturday (was a variety show here in Australia) one most. When i seen you doing this reaction, I thought this will blow your mind in a good way. Love the reaction. God bless.
You'll like the live version as well and you'll hear guitar 🎸 player sing at the end of live These guys are always better live as you see and feel their passion for lyrics and music in general By the the way first time hearing you sing beautiful voice hope get to hear more Cheers mate 🦘🇦🇺👍
Great song by two or three with diesel Aussie legends. But whenever reacting to John or Jimmy always do the live versions where possible. You have to do the live version of this, and keep doing more of John, chain reaction is great with an awesome harmonica solo and let me out with an epic guitar solo.
In case you haven't been told yet Jimmy Barnes has a daughter Mahalia that is an excellent singer she sings backup with Joe Bonamassa she also has her own albums out😊😊
That really went through you Andrea, John and Jim are long time friends and compliment each other.... great to hear you critic them, their passion is undeniable, the guy on the guitar solo is Johnny Diesel a close relative to both these artists (The Injectors)
Great reaction, thanks. As others have said, would highly recommend checking out the live version from an Australian variety show called Hey Hey It's Saturday where they perform live and bring Diesel (the guitarist) in for an acapella ad-lib at the end that is brilliant.
Thank you so much for your wonderful breakdown of this classic song Andrea 😊 I love the way you get right into songs and appreciate the skill of what you are seeing and hearing ❤❤ I know there are a lot of people that will say you should have done a live version, but I am glad you did the studio recording. The audio is so much clearer than any of the live recordings. The lives are of course still amazing, but you can appreciate the vocals more when you can hear them better. So listening to the studio version is a good way to start before hearing it live 😊 Thanks again. I look forward to more. If I can suggest something a bit different for John, please try him and his band songing Love's In Need by Stevie Wonder. It is just beautiful 😍 ❤❤
The guitarist is Diesel talented guitarist and singer as well. He was singing in third verse. Watch the live performance of this song in your own time if you want and you’ll see 😂
They are singing live, even though this is music video. John cant lip sync for peanuts. He not only addlibs all the time, but also mixes up the lyrics, so he always sings live.
Should watch the live versions when it comes to John Farnham & this song especially, somehow the recorded version don't do him justice...he improves even more, live!
This is better to watch live. Diesel the guitarist has an amazing voice as well and adds so much. Look for them doing this song on the Aria Awards o when they perform itr on Hey Hey it's Saturday.
If you like runs and a great voice. while not with 'Legend' status (Yet) You would love Guy Sebastian. I may not like all of his songs, but i cannot say anything bad about his voice. I feel , to me at least, of his best song that i like is, Standing with you. It has suggested many times that ive seen, that this should be an anthem for Australia's National Mental Health Commission. He has it available on his TH-cam channel that can be searched with :- Guy Sebastian - Standing With You (Official Video) Even if you dont react to it, Have a look at it just the same when you have time
Great reaction Andrea. Check out the live version on a TV Show we had in Oz back in the day called Hey Hey It's Saturday. Defo the best and the ending will blow your mind.
you probably have by now - but try and have a watch a live version as well. There is a couple out on the you tube. Cheers, I am enjoying your music as well.
There is at least two live versions of this song, One on “Hey, Hey it’s Saturday” Live, and a benefit version, though the vision is not that great. The Hey, Hey version kicks it, to say the least.
3 that I know of, - 'Hey Hey' 'The ARIAs' (with the lotto numbers) and the one from Barnsey's 'Soul Deep' concert, - they followed this song with 'In The Midnight Hour' - Diesel on Lead Jimmy and John back up, - if you haven't seen it, here's the link th-cam.com/video/sZwoLwNQSUw/w-d-xo.html
These are very experienced stage perfumers. They look and feel at home live, and yes, often they make up stuff as they go on. Barnes sings for Cold Chisel and John is just John :)
Sorry love it's 3 bro's injoying the song but yeah ya done well I've watch soooooo many other reactions to this and other songs with these guys and your all the same gobsmacked and in love with there voices and the way they sing cheers for ya reactions and yeah I'm an aussie too sorry for the short spelling anyway love ya work keep it up love it 😂
Don't get me wrong these guys are Aussies but none are Australian born. Jimmy was born in Scotland Johnny was born in England, and Mark was born in the USA
Another great reaction to our Aussie legends this is the video recording there are lots of live versions and seeing this live is better than even this. Check out the hey hey it’s Saturday version. BTW John is a really bad lip syncer 😂
Fun fact about this song well this clip lol.... those drinks on the table... they ain't fake lolol. They actually got absolutely drunk as filming this music video. If you want to check live vs this with this video check out the live from hey hey its Saturday I believe n you'll see. The guitarist is Johnny diesel or diesel or Johnny diesel and the injectors. He is Jimmy's son in law who also hense the names had/ has his own music career and sings
I heard somewhere that John got so drunk filming this video that when the driver arranged to take him home asked him where to go, John couldn't remember where he lived!!! 😅😅
Hey Andrea, great reaction but they were singing live as both of them have refused to mime at any time and also this was done before autotune or any other enhancements were available. Plus they are great mates and both have had medical issues in the last 2 yrs and have been each others support!!
If you want to see some of the most impressive singing please watch Lucy Thomas sing Unchained Melody, I Will Always Love You, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas also HALLELUJAH , Evergreen and then At Last and La Vie En Rose also with her sister Martha singing O Holy Night then The Prayer and Mary Did You Know then you will not regret it Enjoy!.
Hi Andrea, thanks for sharing this song, I didn't know anything about it before, it's great, I can't stop listening to it, thank you so much! I have been researching on my own about Jimmy Barnes who is the voice that I liked the most of this song and I would also like to share with you all this song called "Working Class Man" also of him: th-cam.com/video/t3TPmPOrDEk/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=JimmyBarnesVEVO When I started listening to it, it automatically reminded me of this other original Bob Dylan song, but sung by Bruce Springsteen cover, "Chimes of Freedom (Live at Stockholms Olympiastadion, Stockholm, SE - July 1988)" amazing they are very similar rhythmically and in many other musical nuances...! here I attach the other link: th-cam.com/video/WhvpFX63JGw/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=BruceSpringsteen-Topic here the same song in Copenhagen in 1988: th-cam.com/video/jYP9Bxx2hbQ/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=PeteRussell It is clear to me that Bob Dylan's song was the first of all, as it was created on August 8, 1964, and Jimmy Barnes' is much later, about 21 years later, in December 1985. But when I searched the year of Bruce Springsteen's cover of the song "Chimes of Freedom" which is the closest rhythmically to Jimmy's, to my surprise I saw it was July 1988! I thought Bruce's cover was earlier too, and no, maybe we should ask the Boss if he was inspired by Jimmy's song...?, we know Jimmy sang it before! lol, the whole thing even makes me laugh... So my question is up in the air; who was the first get inspired to each other, is it pure coincidence that they are so similar acoustically and rhythmically or it was done premeditated?? Andrea, with your huge experience in music, maybe you know how to get rid of the doubt, what is your opinion about it all? I would appreciate an answer from you, many thanks and warm greetings from Catalonia, Barcelona. Thank you very much for everything and until next time! :) P.D. I leave you a last link of the original version of the song "Chimes Of Freedom" by Bob Dylan from 1965, nothing to do with the magnificent cover of Bruce Springsteen or the fantastic song of Jimmy "Working Class Man" but for me one of the best ever songs, the voice and lyrics of this song can only come from the grand living legend Bob Dylan: th-cam.com/video/zDOHhx_dk1g/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=BobDylanVEVO Health and love to everyone

The lives are of course still amazing, but you can appreciate the vocals more when you can hear them better. So listening to the studio version is a good way to start before hearing it live 😊
Thanks again.
John Farnham performance of “gethsemane” from Jesus Christ superstar, is a vocal masterclass.
Can’t get better then this
Except when it's live :)
You can, LIVE!!!
He has it available on his TH-cam channel that can be searched with :- Guy Sebastian - Standing With You (Official Video) Even if you dont react to it, Have a look at it just the same when you have time
The Best!
Farnsy and Barnsy with a bit of diesel
💪
The best version online is live from a tv show called "Hey Hey" for short. Or "Hey, Hey it's Saturday".
Check out american born but Aussie star Marcia hines the Queen of pop. She has amazing vocals
Great reaction Andrea. Check out the live version on a TV Show we had in Oz back in the day called Hey Hey It's Saturday. Defo the best and the ending will blow your mind.
The best Australia has been around forever they are legendary live cause there the best
you probably have by now - but try and have a watch a live version as well. There is a couple out on the you tube. Cheers, I am enjoying your music as well.
ty for listening!
There is at least two live versions of this song, One on “Hey, Hey it’s Saturday” Live, and a benefit version, though the vision is not that great. The Hey, Hey version kicks it, to say the least.
There is actually 3 live versions. 😊But yes Hey Hey is the best. 👍
3 that I know of, - 'Hey Hey' 'The ARIAs' (with the lotto numbers) and the one from Barnsey's 'Soul Deep' concert, - they followed this song with 'In The Midnight Hour' - Diesel on Lead Jimmy and John back up, - if you haven't seen it, here's the link th-cam.com/video/sZwoLwNQSUw/w-d-xo.html
yes you must continue with John Farnham I suggest " Burn For You"
These are very experienced stage perfumers. They look and feel at home live, and yes, often they make up stuff as they go on.
Barnes sings for Cold Chisel and John is just John :)
Would love to see you react to a live version
It's just as good as this one ❤
Watch more of both, live. Jimmy in cold chisel and him solo and him with other artists.
JImmy and John are great friends and Diesel is Jimmy's brother in law
you have to watch the live version…. amazing
Good to see this after such a long time. Poor Farnsie can’t sing anymore after years of poor health.
Jimmy was born in Scotland
Johnny was born in England, and
Mark was born in the USA
You should watch the concert performance of this song with Diesel joining in more in the vocals at the end
Another great reaction to our Aussie legends this is the video recording there are lots of live versions and seeing this live is better than even this. Check out the hey hey it’s Saturday version. BTW John is a really bad lip syncer 😂
The Aussie male vocal trinity 👏
look for a duet with John & Olivia Newton John "please dont ask me"
Definitely no Idol-itus with these two
🇦🇺Hep Fidelity Aussie Blues! Farnsy, Barnesy & Diesel(🎸)
Diesel is Jimmy's brother in-law. They married sisters 👍
I heard somewhere that John got so drunk filming this video that when the driver arranged to take him home asked him where to go, John couldn't remember where he lived!!! 😅😅
Your voice is beautiful. You may like another Australian singer. Katie Noonan.
thanks so so much! feel free to listen to my new music bit.ly/whylinger
Their live versions are even better!
Hey Andrea, great reaction but they were singing live as both of them have refused to mime at any time and also this was done before autotune or any other enhancements were available. Plus they are great mates and both have had medical issues in the last 2 yrs and have been each others support!!
Who wrote the song and composed the music? Its genius😊
If you want to see some of the most impressive singing please watch Lucy Thomas sing Unchained Melody, I Will Always Love You, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas also HALLELUJAH , Evergreen and then At Last and La Vie En Rose also with her sister Martha singing
O Holy Night then The Prayer and Mary Did You Know then you will not regret it Enjoy!.
watch the live version!
Matt corby brother like a version is one I think you’ll enjoy reacting too
Yes you'll love Matt.
In regards to John Farnham he was a heavy drinker and smoker most of his life
John and Jimmy always better live on stage.
Jimmies Daughter and Son are accomplished singers also.
Hi Andrea, thanks for sharing this song, I didn't know anything about it before, it's great, I can't stop listening to it, thank you so much!
I have been researching on my own about Jimmy Barnes who is the voice that I liked the most of this song and I would also like to share with you all this song called "Working Class Man" also of him:

When I started listening to it, it automatically reminded me of this other original Bob Dylan song, but sung by Bruce Springsteen cover, "Chimes of Freedom (Live at Stockholms Olympiastadion, Stockholm, SE - July 1988)" amazing they are very similar rhythmically and in many other musical nuances...!
here I attach the other link:
th-cam.com/video/WhvpFX63JGw/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=BruceSpringsteen-Topic
here the same song in Copenhagen in 1988:
th-cam.com/video/jYP9Bxx2hbQ/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=PeteRussell
It is clear to me that Bob Dylan's song was the first of all, as it was created on August 8, 1964, and Jimmy Barnes' is much later, about 21 years later, in December 1985.
P.D. I leave you a last link of the original version of the song "Chimes Of Freedom" by Bob Dylan from 1965, nothing to do with the magnificent cover of Bruce Springsteen or the fantastic song of Jimmy "Working Class Man" but for me one of the best ever songs, the voice and lyrics of this song can only come from the grand living legend Bob Dylan:

Health and love to everyone
That's the video
Funny how the American Music Industry censored these great musicians at the time. Now greater than ever.
Hello Andrea..
Not live bur watch the live version and they do a bit more great to watch
They are both better singing live on stage.
