I loved being able to hear a cover of Help reimagined in this way. Thank you so much to my Patron for sending this my way, feel free to subscribe if you would like to request ANY musical video!
I'll do my best to explain this to you, if you don't mind. For someone who hasn't grown up with John it's hard to fully understand why he is loved so much by so many. For someone who HAS grown up with John in their lives it's hard to explain. There are so many reasons, his talent is second to none. You could literally drop a list of genres in a hat, draw one out and he'll kill it. Hard to believe, but jump down the rabbit hole and you'll see. He's also a battler, he's fought tooth and nail to be where he is. He puts in the hard work and Aussies love that. He's respectful. He always pays recognition to the band, orchestra, backup singers and so on. His backup singers often find themselves front stage with an opportunity to showcase themselves. He is an entertainer! Never giving less than 100% He's funny. And if this is not enough, he's humble and an absolutely awesome human being. I'm sure I forgot a thing or two, but that's the gist of it. Great reaction by the way :)
Been a fan since Sadie and later in my life had the opportunity to work with John professionally on a few occasions. He is a master of his craft and one if the nicest, humblest and most giving artists I’ve ever worked with. Seek out his ballads such as Comic Conversations, Please Don’t Ask Me and Burn For You for starters. His vocal control is second to none.
He treats his fans like mates. He put his family before fame, reducing the reach of his talent for decades, but giving his family all the time with him they needed, never has a bad word to say about anybody, never changed his true aussie nature over 50 years of change. Spent over an hour chatting with silly little fans (me included), even though he was sick, and had just finished a two and a half hour concert and was probably dying to get home to bed He's one of the few celebrities who is exactly who he portrays himself to be, and I would consider him to be the aussie version of Keanu Reeves in that it's just impossible to find anything unlikable about him! We will never hear him sing live again as cancer has stolen his singing voice, though thankfully not his life, but I love seeing the rest of the world meet John and get to have, even just a little, taste of the John Farnham experience!
John is 75 this year and was still singing up to 73 and could belt those high notes out. He has had mouth cancer and is cancer free but had to have half of his jaw removed and reconstructed. He is still in rehab but is singing around the house. He started in 1967 and is still our most famous Aussie icon. The music was real and John has never played with his voice live. It is pure talent.
John is the nicest guy as well as being a HUGE talent. By the way, he is moving the mike around as a method of controlling the volume at which it picks up his voice. It's called mike craft. A craft I feel is sadly lacking these days.
@GaryNoone-jz3mq very sadly lacking 😪 they have those head ones so they can dance and play an instrument and have auto tune and pitch adjustments but I can't even watch them for long. I certainly wouldn't pay what they're asking for concert tickets but I would pay to go and see Farnsey and Barnsey even now. They need to bring these mic and stage crafts back. John was just a natural though. I call him the 8th natural wonder of the world 🌎 ✨️ 🎶 😌
You might be further impressed to realise that this was the final encore after a two-and-a-half hour concert - still singing like that. His concerts with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra were next level. John's concerts always feature instrumental solos - he has huge respect for his musos! His fabulous voice and his ability to deliver the lyrics with such heart are why he is a most loved performer in Australia and has a fan base including Celine Dion and Tom Jones. Australians are unashamedly proud of their John who has been entertaining us - to this calibre - for nearly 6 decades. THAT is a pro.
You have to watch AC/ DCs It’s a Long Way to The Top !! Billed as best cover ever! He has a husky speaking voice so that is what you are hearing. John was my girlhood crush and I fall in love with him all over again when I watch these reactions. He & Olivia were lifelong mates and they toured together. Just LOVE their Pls Don’t Ask Me Duet! And I LOVE your insightful and appreciative reactions to the amazing phenomenon this is John Farnham. G’day from Australia xx
Our John is the G.O.A.T. He can sing any genre and he can change his voice mid note virtually. He has been called the voice by Freddy Mercury Celine Dion Chris Martin Richard Marx and has performed with them and with Ray Charles. He is an incredible performer and an incredible human and so humble and generous and vocalist and is loved by all Aussies. Youll love listening to him. 😍🤩🥰
Also either When the War is Over (the last time tour?) & the absolutely stunning Amazing Grace he sung with his ‘back up’ vocalists - Vanetta Fields & Lindsay Field 😍😍😍
@AndreaSilvestro Here's one of his uplifting ones - See the Banners Fall in 1990. I call John the 8th natural wonder of the world 🌎 😅 He had no singing lessons just a few breathing lessons. Enjoy ❤ th-cam.com/video/lygjcLZ9A4I/w-d-xo.htmlsi=XGl57xlNMBxGbPOG Thank you xx
Him and Jimmy Barnes something is wrong with my baby, his cover of black dog or his hey hey performance of women in uniform where the actual singer of the song turns up and that will send you on a skyhooks journey
You have just witnessed the greatest and most versatile male vocalist of all time. With a career spanning over 50 years so you really need to go down the John Farnham rabbit hole.
And after 50+ Years performing John is just as famous now as he ever was. Probably the most popular entertainer ever in Australia and still holds us by our heartstrings even today. Recentyl he was diagnosed with mouth cancer...the whole of Australia was behind him while he went under a grueling 13 hour surgery to remove and reconstruct part of his jaw. And we held our collective breaths as he recovered. Months after the surgery he was declared cancer free and Australia breathed a sigh of releif. ❤❤❤ He has a huge fan base ...we love him ... and he was still performing as the headline act at many chartiable fund raiser concerts and other music festivals right up into his 70's and his voice remained almost as perfect as it was in his 30's The man is a vocal powerhouse.
@leelee2350 who is he! Oh you mean the one whose power is about half of John's. His range is higher that John's but he gets very thin and weedy in his upper register...compared to Farnham who has full voice through his range.
@@rickandersen2284 I think they're both outstanding. In a top 100 singers I've seen John was rated as number 7 and Steve as number 3. I think number one was Aretha. No mean feat to be in any top 100. You're preaching to the converted, I love JF. I just don't disregard other singers.
John Farnham is one of the greatest singers on the planet and an absolute legend. He can sing any genre, and in Australia is simply known as The Voice. You should check out his signature song which is called You’re the Voice, same concert. Over the years, he has been lauded by great artists from around the world, including Céline Dion, Sammy Davis, Jr. Tom Jones just to name a few. He’s now in his 70s and is considered a national treasure in Australia.❤️❤️❤️
John Farnham songs is the rabbit hole you never knew you needed. We grew up with him on the tv & radio. He’s known as the ultimate nice guy, larrikin & voice of our time. Thank you for reacting to one of ours.
Thanks for a great reaction to our John, He’s known as the voice in Aussie and he is most loved. The more you react to him you will soon realise why,Always react to his live performances. He gives his all to every song, every lyric is clearly heard. His interactions with his audience is always there at every concert. If you proceed down this rabbit hole you are in for the ride of your life. He fills you with joy every time you hear this man’s music,it can’t be easily explained you just have to experience the joy of it
@@AndreaSilvestroThe list is a mile long,I prefer his ballads but John sings everything through to Opera. His duet with Olivia Newton John Please don’t ask me is brilliant, Burn for you is a song he wrote for his wife when he was on the road. His cover of AC/DC It’s a long way to the top, That’s insane you’ll just want to get up dance around the house. I assure you whatever you react to John won’t let you down.😊
You've just experienced the best solo performer of the late 20th century. Nobody played an audience better than John. His shows were total connection. Also watch how well he works the mike.
John is “The Voice”. He was an era unto himself. He’s currently recovering from surgery for cancer and may never sing again. But his music will live on regardless. An entire nation loves this man. He’s not only a phenomenal musician and singer but a wonderful human being.
I used to work in Aussie TV . One Saturday Morning during a tour he came into our Studios at 10 am the Morning after a Concert and recorded this song twice, because he didn’t like the first take. A lovely bloke with a wicked sense of humour , we had him on often. But that Saturday Morning was something really special, every time I hear it I remember that performance, in front of 30 or so people. Stunning.
Growing up with John, we loved him just as Johnny and Farnesey - the Aussie good bloke. We knew he was good and almost everybody loved him. Before the internet and globalisation we did not consider how different he may have been than anyone else (unless we saw him sing with international singers on Hey Hey). Now that we have you tube, it is mind blowing to me about how many people around the world are only now getting to hear somebody that we appear to have taken for granted for so long. There are so many reaction videos to his songs and this one in particular, and deservedly so. I am so thankful that so many people around the world are finally being exposed to the wonder that is John Farnham and so proud that his back catalogue is having a resurgence around the world.
Hopefully your patron can introduce you to John singing with Jimmy Barnes "When Something is Wrong With My Baby" fantastic bluesy duet. Great reaction Andrea thanks.
🍃🌼I'm 65 years old. Johnny Farnham has always been in my life singing for Australia since Brian Hendersons Bandstand. Johnny Farnham is an "Australian National Treasure" We all love him down here in Aussie. 🍃💛🍃
This entire performance is so memorable. I was there, in fact, bright eyed, bushy tailed 22 yo. This was the second encore of a two and a half hour performance. Guy's a machine.
Excellent, knowledgeable reaction, Andrea. You summed up the little you now know of Australian John Farnham's talent very well. This song does tap into John's emotions of when he went through a rough period in his career mainly through poor managerial direction. Lucky for us he came through that to a continue on in a new direction with new management of a loyal friend on to a fabulous career. John has a big, powerful vocal range, His voice has a gymnastic ability to play with his singing. He sings in over 20 genres. Everything he does is perfect. As well as that he is the consummate showman with wonderful charisma and great rapport with his audiences who love him. His backing band and singers are the best. There are lots of YT videos of John from which to choose. More please.
Andrea, welcome to the party. You have finally found 'The Voice". You must jump down this rabbit hole. Farnsey will blow your mind, just make sure you watch him live.
He sang every song with absolute passion , here in Australia we have been lucky enough to have had John in our lives for 50 years , he is a legend and we adore and love him .
John was known as “The Voice “ here in Australia and one of the greatest singers of all time. He never toured outside of Australia and NZ. Please do a reaction video of John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes singing When something is wrong with my Baby! Two unbelievable Aussie singers and will blow you away! ❤❤

With another encore after this to conclude the 2 hours of singing in this particular recorded concert. John had a habit of mixing things up. The only recycled things are his jokes! ;-) lol
Live in the city John first sang in 1968. l lIVE IN HIS NEIGHBOURHOOD AND KNOW HOW MUCH A GREAT GUY HE IS. aLSO A GENTLEMAN, DRiVE GIRLS HOME SAFELY AFTER SHOWS IN HIS MINI . hE'S BEEN UP AND DOWN OVER THE YEARS AND AUSTRALIAN OF THE YEAR. This is him at his best and he retained his musicians and backing singers. Australia loves John. last year he had an 18 hour operation with 26 surgeons willing to help throat and mouth cancer. He's recovering but I doubt we'll hear those Golden Pipes again. He could've been a superstar but chooses to live on a ranch riding horses and rustling beef catttle. God bless him and I hope, am sure, that will be enough pleasure for him in his years to come. A simple, decent man.
I’m late but thanks for listening to the one and only! John Farnham. You could meet him in a pub and he would be ‘how you going mate’ even if you didnt know who he was. I believe you would never know what he was capable of. Followed John from the sixties. Thank you too for giving him your time to discover the phenomenal ‘person’ john is.
Wonderful réaction. Love this version of the song. I used to have a copy on a VHS tape (yes that long ago) and played it very often. Never get tired of that voice. One of my absolute favourites is John singing Please Don't ask me, a duet with Olivia Newton John. ONJ was a great friend of JF, also of another group of kids who emigrated to Oz from the UK, the Bee Gees. She did one of her last recordings with Barry Gibb in his Greenfields album of countrified Bee Gees songs. A beautiful album. JF, ONJ, BGs and of course, Jimmy Barnes all the way
You NOW know who John Farnham is.. Aussie LEGEND (born in the UK).. With a World Class voice.. And just the nicest guy (who has had surgery for jaw cancer in the last 12 months, best wishes to John) 1989, end of the 80s in Australia.. BIG HAIR BIG EYELASHES BIG NAILS and PERMS!!! He has the most amazing TIMBRE in his voice, so rich, strong, and controlled.. His timing, his phrasing, his dynamics, his trills.. EVERY word/note is perfect.. And his mic technique is spot on!! Its amazing how far he can hold the mic away and project as he does. Every Aussie knows every John Farnham song, and "You're the Voice" is the de-facto Australian National Anthem (look up him doing it with Coldplay!) Hi, liked and subscribed from Adelaide, South Australia (where John started his career in the 60s as " Little Johnny Farnham")
Loved your reaction, if you want to be a singer, you will always learn new things from our John, study him. His mouth, his stance, his power, his ability to make you feel like he’s putting on a show in your living room just for you, he really is a master, welcome to the rabbit hole you don’t even know you,ve found yet. Can’t wait to see more. If you want to see his diversity, so many things to watch. If you want to see how much fun he has on stage with the orchestra, watch “it’s a long way to the top” this is just pure fun for everyone. Him, the band, the orchestra and the peeps in the audience. He is everything that makes live music...well...live! We Love our Farnsey.
That "vibe " you speak of is the natural way Australians are, we are a very easy going bunch. It is understandable that everyone who hears John falls in love with his voice and persona. Simply the best.
John's singing career(was an apprentice plumber at the time) gained attention in 1967 as an 18year old pop idol, known as Johnny Farnham; he change his name to John in the late 70's, when he resurrected his career as an adult contemporary artist. He has had album and singles hit over 5 decades, winning many awards; he has also appeared on Australian tv shows and theatre(on Australian and New York stages), his performance of Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar the musical is a credit to his ability tosing in most music genres.
Andrea, this is pure singing. As I know you would appreciate. Feeling the music and caring for the actual message helps translate the energy we feel. Emotion must be attached to the performance if you want to make a connection... John Farnham is a national treasure for us Ozzie's
John first performed his version in 1980, and shortly before John Lennon's death(later that year) he had stated " this is how it was meant to be sung". This performance from 1989, is leaps and bounds ahead of his original release. There is much, much more to this iconic Australian artist, hope you look more into his career; so, enjoy!
Our John had done this song about two hours into the concert. He would run up and down the stage and wouldn't miss a beat or get out of breath. His control was amazing.
No auto tune back then. Also, Australian the population was smaller and the country so big that to make a living, artists made their weekly pay check by doing live performances in town halls, pubs and clubs. You had to have a really good live sound to make a living. John was one of the best. He did tour in America with the Little River Band after replacing Glenn Shorrock and after that band he went back to being a solo artist. When he finally broke big time, he surrounded himself with a fantastic group of musicians and backing singers and released a couple of albums that were big in Australia and overseas. “Your the Voice” was probably one of his greatest hits, but I loved many more of his songs like One, a Touch of Paradise, and many more. Also he did some really top covers like Help, When the War is Over, It’s a Long Way to the Top if you want to Rock and Roll and, When Something is Wrong with my Baby with the legendary Jimmy Barnes. He also toured Australia in his role of Jesus Christ in the stage musical Jesus Christ Superstar and he has sung with many international stars.
Regarding the backing vocals, the black lady is Venetta Fields. If you check out her discography, you may be inclined to investigate her further...Steely Dan, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd to name just a couple, from many. She was also an Ikette.
Add to this performance that this was the encore AFTER almost 3 hours of already performing! John is just an S tier performer all round!! As an Aussie I am so excited and proud when people discover our John....
You have a lovely voice Andrea. John has been in the charts since the late 60s. Up there with the best vocalists in the world. Many famous vocalists have performed with John. Check out more.
He’s the master…no one can sing like him and interpret this song like he does… many have tried …he was in his 40s there and now he’s 74… still has it… Beatles loved his interpretation and said that’s the way the song should be sung. Love him
This concert was advertised as John and his Big Band in typical Aussie understatement, it's a 100+ piece orchestra for crying out loud. lol This song is one of the last songs that he would sing at the end of the night after he had already sung his heart out for nearly 3 hours. Some have pointed out that this particular recording of the concert was closer to 2 hours of actual singing during the TV special, but it was also on the 4th or 5th night that he had sung like this. Either way, it was one of multiple nights that he did this on January 4-10, 1989, so his voice is still worthy of the accolades. Not many other singers can belt like that for even 2 or 3 nights without a rest. And besides picking at the exact details or this exact performance, Farnsey also has a way of getting deep into the emotions of your soul. A couple of songs worth checking have been mentioned below, plus these are worth a look also. The reason you haven't heard of him is because the US music industry is a closed little club. When John Farnham went to the US they didn't know which genre to put him in so his US promotions manager got him a couple of gigs in a little jazz club, where the MC introduced him as Jack Phantom. Couldn't even be bothered getting his name correct, so being a bit disheartened he wandered home to concentrate on his loyal fan base. The experience did give him inspiration to write a couple of good songs about missing his family, like this one. -Burn For You.. th-cam.com/video/4PPvOhPspEA/w-d-xo.html -Angels.. Notice how he holds the mike below his chest, both mikes are a metre away, which he does all the time to not drown out the other singers. JF with Lisa Edwards, a top singer in her own right, and one of John's back up singers for 20+ years. th-cam.com/video/5_2NJRIdBO8/w-d-xo.html -Amazing Grace.. To show the calibre of his other back up Singers, showing you have to be good in your own right, just like Lisa. This is Vanetta Fields and Lindsey Field. th-cam.com/video/_x6N94OEkZQ/w-d-xo.html -Please Don't Ask Me.. This one with Olivia Newton John, who we have recently lost. John has also had major cancer surgery including removal of part of his jaw and we may not hear him sing again. So let's enjoy this one as well.. th-cam.com/video/2uV_tZODfK8/w-d-xo.html -When Something Is Wrong With My Baby.... And even when he is singing with one of the most powerful voices on the planet, Jimmy Barnes, he still put the mike away from his face and closer to Jonny Diesel on guitar. th-cam.com/video/AU_bCchDWF4/w-d-xo.html Or this version. th-cam.com/video/RAlFHSPLHpo/w-d-xo.html -When The War Is Over… Possibly one of his greatest vocals. th-cam.com/video/lfWrXc5eN8g/w-d-xo.html -Or is the greatest. Gethsemane.. th-cam.com/video/k5woMZtClhI/w-d-xo.html -How about a mike test. He has the power and ability to distort microphones, amps, and get speaker stacks jumping. So this sort of setting up the venue test is a must. Lol Black Dog. th-cam.com/video/F2Yi6TVi-sU/w-d-xo.html Besides having the best voice ever, JF can adjust his tone, pitch, volume, to match the person he is singing with to either match them or sing just under them depending on who's the head line act, he will even back himself down when he is the head line to give others their moment to shine, and if my ears were sensitive enough, I wouldn't be surprised if he could vary his vibrato, timbre and all of those other things that voices can do so he could accentuate the other singers.
John Farnham is known in Australia as Australia’s Favourite Son and he’s been a cultural icon at least since he released his Whispering Jack album with Your The Voice in 1986. He’s now 74 years old and in ill health due to a lifetime of heavy smoking. The day he dies will be a week of national mourning for the whole country. His music made the childhoods of every Aussie kid born before 1990. Whispering Jack was one of the first audio cassettes I ever bought with my pocket money. Still have it somewhere along side Icehouse Man of Colours.
John’s greatness imo lays within his authenticity. There is nothing false about John, from his voice, his deep desire to entertain and interact, his recognition of everyone that works for and with him and simply his personality. John is the epitome of the Aussie battler, with a huge work ethic and big talent to go with it. Hope he’s doing better and will have many more years to share with his family.
Wow…. Best reaction breakdown of any John Farnham video I’ve seen… He’s a beautiful soul & a voice in a million. He is a national treasure for us Aussies.
Fantastic song, John makes it his own and adds so much feeling to it! So good live, yes it's the texture and improvs and imperfections that makes it Soo good 👍
been a Farnham fan ever since Sadie. John's version of Help is the BEST ever recorded and it always gives me goose bumps whenever I hear it. I met John several times when I worked at BMG and he was quite surprsied on one occasion when I asked him if Back to the Backwoods would be performed at his concert that night. He said no but asked how I knew the song as it never got air play in any capital cities and that it was on probably his least successful album. Told him that I used to live in Bathurst NSW and that it was getting played almost every hour on air on the local radio station 2BS.
Welcome to the greatest male vocalist. Even Freddie Mercury admitted it, Tom Jones said he was the best male live performer and Celine Dion said he was her greatest musical inspiration.
First you’re gorgeous, 2nd I was lucky enough to be at this concert in 1989, he is still a phenom and love seeing people hearing him for the first time, please listen to you’re the voice in the same concert omg it hits all your senses and there’s a special surprise in the middle of the song which when live is mind blowing, new sub here from Australia thank you
At the time, it wasn’t a mullet hair style. It was just long hair in a layer cut that thinned out hair all over the head to lighten the weight. Both men and women had the layer cut. Especially if the hair itself was very thick. Mullets have short hair at the sides in front. JF still has long hair there but the layer cut.
Farnham first did this version in 1980 at the Sydney Opera House. When John Lennon heard it, he just said "This isn't our song anymore." Freddy Mercury said he was the best male vocalist he'd ever heard. He did a fair stint as the front man of The Little River Band when they broke into the US market. He used that as a springboard to resurrect his solo career with the release of the album You're the Voice. Seen him live once, under protest with my then girlfriend, but he left me amazed.
i was lucky enough and old enough to go to this best night ever our Boy john knew how to sing and always sold out live shows he will always be out living legend im 43 now and you're the voice from john should have been our national anthem an thank u for a great reaction
Thank you for your reaction. 💞 this performance was one of the encores at the end of a 2+ hour concert 1986, John Lennon heard it before he passed and said that was the way the song was meant to sound, the whole concert is a awesome. John provides lessons in vocal artistry which every singing teacher loves. John Farnham, is Aussie Music Royalty. He started in 1967 and was still performing into his 70s until Covid shut the country down. He won "King of Pop" 5 consecutive years 69 -73, then faded a bit in the late 70s (due to poor management). John is the only Australian artist to have a number-one record (album or single) in five consecutive decades. They put out a doco last year called "John Farnham - Finding The Voice" (that's what he is affectionately known as here "The Voice), he can sing anything and make it sound great. He has received the admiration of many international artists, such as Richard Marx, Celine Dion, Robbie Williams, Tom Jones, Freddie Mercury. Brian May, Sammy Davis Jnr, Ray Charles, just to name a few. I'll drop a link or two to give you a taste and warn you if you start reacting to John, the Aussie Army will flood your channel. LOL if you decide to go exploring, make sure you only watch "Live" performances, he loves his fans and they love him back, and always keep an eye out for his "mic & stand" tricks. He is the most down to earth loveable person, humble, funny and extremely talented. He even was the frontman for LRB for a time in the early eighties. Background vox by Lisa Edwards and Venetta Fields. Both legendary singers and his BVox for years, usually also with Mr Lyndsay Field (no relation). Venetta Lee Fields (born 1941) is an American-born Australian singer and musical theater actress, and vocal coach. Fields was a backing vocalist for touring American and British rock and pop acts of the 1960s and 1970s, as well as working as a session recording vocalist She worked with artists including Ike & Tina Turner (SHE WAS AN IKETTE IN THE IKE AND TINA TURNER BAND!!) Pink Floyd, Humble Pie, Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond, Steely Dan, Boz Scaggs, Bob Seger and the Rolling Stones. After emigrating to Australia in 1982, she took up citizenship. She recorded or toured as a backing singer for Australian artists Richard Clapton, Australian Crawl, Cold Chisel, Jimmy Barnes, James Morrison and John Farnham. She sang on recordings for Burt Bacharach, Diana Ross, Ray Charles, Bette Midler, Bob Dylan, the Supremes, and for Aretha Franklin - her mentor and inspiration. Notable performances during this time included Wish You Were Here (September 1975) with Pink Floyd, and recording the Rolling Stones' album Exile on Main St. (May 1972) including the legendary track "Sympathy For The Devil".. In 2002, Fields received the Australian Gospel Singer of the Year award. In recognition of her achievements, Fields was inducted into the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame on September 29, 2005. So yeah, Ms Fields has CRED!!!!!
@AndreaSilvestro from this concert 'It's a Long Way to the Top', 'Playing to Win' and 'You're the Voice'. His cover of 'Black Dog' (is a mic check but would pass as a full studio recording), 'Angels' with Lisa Edwards and 'When the War is Over' from 'The Last Time 2003' are some good places to start! ;-)
I saw him in concert at the Thebbie Oval in Adelaide many, many years ago. A true performer who totally involved his audience in his performance. A performer who played to all ages and was a truly unforgettable experience.
One of the things we Aussies, having listened to him for so long, love and appreciate about John is that he can sing *anything*. I suggest his version of Led Zeppelin's Black Dog, and his work with Anthony Warlow as two examples of that.
John was the first concert I ever went to at about 12 at the old Sydney Entertainment Centre. My mum was a similar age to John so she grew up with his music hence did I.
We are so proud of our John. One of the most loved Aussie not only from us Aussies but the world. Every person that see’s and hears him falls in love immediately
We love John here. 🐨 He just makes you feel happy, he doesn't put it on. He sings a great song live with Jimmy Barnes on Hey Hey, it's Saturday: When something is wrong with my baby. You can see He just LOVES singing and he's fans. He's had the same backup singing for decades. Treats them like family. I love how you guys are getting to know it. Please check out his other songs.

This was such a soulful and beautiful performance. I loved being able to hear a cover of Help reimagined in this way. Thank you so much to my Patron for sending this my way, feel free to subscribe if you would like to request ANY musical video!
The best ting one can do is only listen to any Live performance by John.
It's the only one can understand why he is The Voice.
Try You’re the Voice from this same concert, or It’s a Long Way to the Top which is upbeat rock song with the orchestra having a great time !!
Go on, go down the Farnham Rabbit hole, the man could do anything, you'll see
John Lennon said this is how it should've been performed
The word "important" has TWO "t"s, not just one.
He is our greatest male music icon if not the greatest of both genders.
thanks for explaining this further! makes a lot of sense that he’s such a talent and also a good guy :) awesome to see
He treats his fans like mates. He put his family before fame, reducing the reach of his talent for decades, but giving his family all the time with him they needed, never has a bad word to say about anybody, never changed his true aussie nature over 50 years of change. Spent over an hour chatting with silly little fans (me included), even though he was sick, and had just finished a two and a half hour concert and was probably dying to get home to bed
He's one of the few celebrities who is exactly who he portrays himself to be, and I would consider him to be the aussie version of Keanu Reeves in that it's just impossible to find anything unlikable about him!
We will never hear him sing live again as cancer has stolen his singing voice, though thankfully not his life, but I love seeing the rest of the world meet John and get to have, even just a little, taste of the John Farnham experience!
Johnny is the best of us Aussies.❤
Took him for granted a bit as he was just omnipresent while I was growing up. That was a mistake.
Same here.
Meetoo! So regret never seeing him live, always liked him but I was young and thought I was Kool and edgy, so John was a guilty pleasure 😂
Yes, agree, very much so.
Saw him concert in the early 1990's, back when artists and bands came to Newcastle, NSW.
@@melindamullen6335 Newcastle, the capital of Aust eh? 😅😅😅😅😅
This entire concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is simply amazing !! this song was his encore !!
With another encore after this. Such an incredible concert.
incredible
Mind you, thats an encore..... at the end of a 2 HOUR SHOW! 🤯
His concerts are epic, he leaves you on a high nobody else.❤
@@heffatheanimal2200 'almost' at the end. Did you miss the bit directly above in this thread where I said there was another encore after this?
I call him the 8th natural wonder of the world 🌎 ✨️ 🎶 😌
Arguably one of the greatest male vocalists globally
thanks for the insight
@@AussieDebbthe mix in this performance was top class especially when there was the MSO to cope with as well as the band.
Not the final encore. He went off stage after this song. Came back on and did Sadie, then finished with It's a Long Way to the Top.
thanks for watching!! do you have any reccomendations?
❤ from this same concert > "You're The Voice" a chart topper
Also either When the War is Over (the last time tour?) & the absolutely stunning Amazing Grace he sung with his ‘back up’ vocalists - Vanetta Fields & Lindsay Field 😍😍😍
@AndreaSilvestro Here's one of his uplifting ones - See the Banners Fall in 1990. I call John the 8th natural wonder of the world 🌎 😅 He had no singing lessons just a few breathing lessons. Enjoy ❤

Aussie here. Johnny Farnham is one of our national treasures. 'You're The Voice' is often regarded as one of the best songs of the 20th century.
He has a huge fan base ...we love him ... and he was still performing as the headline act at many chartiable fund raiser concerts and other music festivals right up into his 70's and his voice remained almost as perfect as it was in his 30's
The man is a vocal powerhouse.
The greatest male voice you never heard... except now you have lol.
soooo true
I'm aussie so I love John but you can't disregard people like Steve Perry.
Interestingly both Steve Perry and John have big wide necks, I always wonder if that helps the vocals.
He’s now in his 70s and is considered a national treasure in Australia.❤️❤️❤️
i will!!
He’s toured with Tom Jones
John Farnham songs is the rabbit hole you never knew you needed. We grew up with him on the tv & radio. He’s known as the ultimate nice guy, larrikin & voice of our time. Thank you for reacting to one of ours.
Thanks for a great reaction to our John, He’s known as the voice in Aussie and he is most loved. The more you react to him you will soon realise why,Always react to his live performances. He gives his all to every song, every lyric is clearly heard. His interactions with his audience is always there at every concert. If you proceed down this rabbit hole you are in for the ride of your life. He fills you with joy every time you hear this man’s music,it can’t be easily explained you just have to experience the joy of it
thank you :) do you have any advice on what to listen to next?
@@AndreaSilvestroThe list is a mile long,I prefer his ballads but John sings everything through to Opera. His duet with Olivia Newton John Please don’t ask me is brilliant, Burn for you is a song he wrote for his wife when he was on the road. His cover of AC/DC It’s a long way to the top, That’s insane you’ll just want to get up dance around the house. One of Our greatest treasure’s
You've just experienced the best solo performer of the late 20th century. Nobody played an audience better than John. His shows were total connection. Also watch how well he works the mike.
I have seen our wonderful John live many times over the years, he is remarkable and such a funny, humble man. 🇦🇺
Stunning.
Lucky, lucky you! Soooo jealous!
The goat can sing anything from opera to hard rock and do it better than most absolute legend.
Farnsey is the GOAT
I love his mic technique. His voice is so powerful. Just about doesn't need a microphone.
Hopefully your patron can introduce you to John singing with Jimmy Barnes "When Something is Wrong With My Baby" fantastic bluesy duet. Great reaction Andrea thanks.
Yes I think you're ready to hear these two together. Jimmy and John singing together has immense chemistry and soul.
The performance on Hey Hey it's Saturday is the best one.

BTW he got a standing ovation from the entire Melbourne Symphony Orchestra at the end of his 1 1/2 performance. An honour indeed.
More please.
thanks so much for watching! i’m glad that you got something out of the video, please let me know what else i should watch !!

Andrea, welcome to the party. You have finally found 'The Voice". You must jump down this rabbit hole. Farnsey will blow your mind, just make sure you watch him live.
You've done it now, the Australians can smell a Farnsy or Barnsey reaction from anywhere in the world.

Not a bad encore after 2 & a half hours singing. No electronic interference and an old recording making it even more impressive.
And just the nicest guy (who has had surgery for jaw cancer in the last 12 months, best wishes to John)
1989, end of the 80s in Australia..
Every Aussie knows every John Farnham song, and "You're the Voice" is the de-facto Australian National Anthem (look up him doing it with Coldplay!)
Hi, liked and subscribed from Adelaide, South Australia (where John started his career in the 60s as " Little Johnny Farnham")
You can see his true power on display right after the sax solo look how far the mic is away. Freakin' Crazy!
Golden moments😊😊
ANY reference to Lennon saying that.... Other than TH-cam comments of course?
Absolute Aussie superstar, unbelievable performer, sensational voice, just a beautiful human...proud to be an Aussie.
Such an epic performance. He is a powerhouse vocalist
Thank you for looking back in time. Please don’t stop! You will be amazed.
will be watching more!!
He IS very famous as a musician, but so much more. He is absolutely adored by Aussies because he is such a wonderful person.
Love him
This concert was advertised as John and his Big Band in typical Aussie understatement, it's a 100+ piece orchestra for crying out loud. lol
This song is one of the last songs that he would sing at the end of the night after he had already sung his heart out for nearly 3 hours.

Besides having the best voice ever, JF can adjust his tone, pitch, volume, to match the person he is singing with to either match them or sing just under them depending on who's the head line act, he will even back himself down when he is the head line to give others their moment to shine, and if my ears were sensitive enough, I wouldn't be surprised if he could vary his vibrato, timbre and all of those other things that voices can do so he could accentuate the other singers.
You nailed the core of John; doing it for the fans always
He's still alive and singing... so not before your time... NOW... and still as HUGE as ever in Australia!
Only just strated singing around he home. not publicly anymore. 🧐😊
Wow…. Best reaction breakdown of any John Farnham video I’ve seen…
He’s a beautiful soul & a voice in a million.
Wonderful reaction. Thank you.
A master singer and performer, also a legend here in Australia. IMHO, in the top 10 best male pop vocalists of all time. Also a nice guy.
Just hearing his voice brings me to tears. We love our John Farnham ❤️
I’ve watched so many reactions to this song. I am so impressed with your musicality and perception. Such thoughtful commentary.

Not just one of the greatest singers of all time, but he could’ve been a comedian as well. Very funny guy.
IMHO, one of the greatest pop singers of all time. In the top 10 for sure.
The first rule of John Farnham is LIVE. Always live. Anything from this concert is spectacular.
he seems to be best live :)
Thank you Andrea, ..John is now your greatest voice. Can see it in your eyes.!!!
John's near 3 o tave range meant he sang a huge variety of music. I love him singing Granada & impersonating Pavarotti at the end
I feel like Grenada is a must watch, to understand John's range. Along with "Gethsemane" and "Black Dog". Of course, "When something is wrong"...
It’s was actually Whispering Jack Album that You’re The Voice was on.,
i was lucky enough and old enough to go to this best night ever our Boy john knew how to sing and always sold out live shows he will always be out living legend im 43 now and you're the voice from john should have been our national anthem an thank u for a great reaction
Fields was a backing vocalist for touring American and British rock and pop acts of the 1960s and 1970s, as well as working as a session recording vocalist
She worked with artists including Ike & Tina Turner (SHE WAS AN IKETTE IN THE IKE AND TINA TURNER BAND!!) Pink Floyd, Humble Pie, Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond, Steely Dan, Boz Scaggs, Bob Seger and the Rolling Stones.
Yes, John doesn't do runs to 'show off', he does them to interpret and add colour and emotion to the lyrics. He is a Master.
That was beuatiful, watching a real musician appreciating the sublteties of another.
John is the consummate entertainer. A fantastic voice from a humble gentleman. He has what all of us want, from an entertainer.
And this was an encore at the end of a concert … we all love John .❤❤❤enjoy the rabbit hole if you dare 😊
And crazily sung another encore after this one!
what else should i watch??
@AndreaSilvestro from this concert 'It's a Long Way to the Top', 'Playing to Win' and 'You're the Voice'. His cover of 'Black Dog' (is a mic check but would pass as a full studio recording), 'Angels' with Lisa Edwards and 'When the War is Over' from 'The Last Time 2003' are some good places to start! ;-)
“ Please don’t ask me” with Olivia Newton John . Another beloved Aussie ❤
Always great watching new reactions to john... makes us all smile..😊
Loved him back in the day, love seeing you hear him for the first time.
thanks!
Bring it on more John Farnham 👍
John was the first concert I ever went to at about 12 at the old Sydney Entertainment Centre. My mum was a similar age to John so she grew up with his music hence did I.
The Sydney Entertainment Centre Whispering Jack concert was the first one we took our 12 year old daughter and her younger sister to.
@@RaymondToms the concert I went to would have been in 1997 from memory - give or take a year. Not sure if it was the Whispering Jack concert.
Love the way you appreciate live musicians!
I believe John sang this as his second encore AFTER singing his heart out for 2 hours before… pretty amazing!
There's more of John out there!!! Go for it... He can sing all types
