Pete also started using PRS guitars at that time (WWN) and for next few albums. As much as I love their entire catalog, WWN and TTOT (2nd and 3rd albums) will always be peak Chevelle for me. (Also because Joe was still with them).

What a killer intro. Chevelle rocked the house in 1999, and over 20 years later they still are. Only a select few bands can have successful longevity like Chevelle. Great job guys, thank you all for being so talented and unique and for always keeping us entertained! 🙏❤️👏😎
Back in the 90s on late night shows they had bands perform, no audience just the band performance and commercials, so no one could clap as this was recorded on a soundstage with no audience

This set reminded me of their 1999 Creationfest - West show on the fringe stage. Driving aggressive drums, stand alone bass play, and Pete's signature guitar and mesmerizing vocals/lyric's. Long live Chevelle
They rock just as much as TOOL did a few years before. Such a tight band, they've always been. They just didn't really have their whole sound at this point, but, like it's called, "POINT #1".... But damn, they certainly have come a long way in a very short amount of time. For a three piece band, they make a LOT of noise when they need to. Dynamics are excellent. In a way, they remind me of very early SILVERCHAIR.
So glad these guys had a chance to make it to Wonder Whats Next and go down the path of eternal greatness. I am a Chevelle fanatic and enjoy the first album, but they could have easily been forgotten after Point #1, at the time given everything that was getting released at the time and given how much stronger the WWN and TTOT albums were. It was Vitamin R that converted me for life the moment I heard its debut on the radio, when that was still a thing, and I became a huge fan of Skeptic and Point #1 after the fact.

I grew up with this band. Point #1 was the first album i ever discovered on my own and Chevelle has ranked as my favorite band ever since them. Weird to see this performance and see how young they were and hear the raw energy of this album that hooked me on their sound from the start. Really cool. Also, whoever set that mic up must own the chiropractic place Pete goes to, because hes obviously just trying to mess dude's neck up bad.

A totally unique band. I've listened to other "similar" bands, and noone comes close. Loud / soft. Great guitar riffs. Heavy without being head banging. Smart, but get to it. The ultimate cut is "Skeptic" 24 minutes in. " This isn't even clear It doesn't tell me why This is an incomplete ....... Even if I was all knowing Wouldn't it mean that I love you? " The screaming anger and dissolution inside given release! This was a TV show (local?) just after they hit the scene, right out of high school. They are all brothers. Literally. The base player left a few albums later, but a brother-in-law took up the base, so it's been a family matter from the beginning.
After years a decade plus of doing it, and trying to teach my partner (who's also my bassist) forever (as well as others) and her just getting frustrated with me, it seems like one of those things that everyone has to struggle to earn. For me it just eventually clicked, I started by lining notes up with words or even the spaces between of that didn't align, one day I just could. But my point is kinda got away from is that it kinda seems like one of those things that's either learnable for you or it's not. I would just add if you really wanna do it don't quit without giving it a hell of a try, repeatedly. For the record I'm 38 and I learned playing largely this record among others. Dos is a god starter, the whole these two....treat them well.. that part has stop start dynamics that make it easier to get the hang of. I would also encourage finding things that kinda split the difference. Tool isn't bad for it, I mean Maynard is impossible so you gotta settle for your voice lol, but Adams guitar is generally not hard so its often doable. Certain songs are impossible though. I've been tryna learn the patient since it dropped that vox part is just too hard.
Oh other early ones I can remember were polly by Nirvana, most Nirvana isn't too hard. For the most part just make sure your trying with a band that does it themselves. Like the tool example is kinda flawed, because Maynard doesn't have to play guitar, but there are good tool songs for that. Funny enough maynards dick which is similar to Polly in riff is an easy one of you can sing it and not feel ridiculous.

Yeah saw them at an early 2000s ozfest (i think it was ozfest, def a festival) and was already a tool fanatic, saw the influence was impressed and he played guitar and sang which i was partial too since its what i was doing and I saw an act i could learn from now this week's is 10 years since my current band was founded. And these are the songs i learnd to actually get good playing and singing with. Dos was one of my first cus of the stop start dynamics lol. Made it easier before i full on had the hang of it. Also part of the reason we kept it a 3 piece untik recently, bit that was a lucky break super talented frontman from a band i always booked withs band broke up and wanted in. Wasnt saying no to a 2nd singer guitarist song writer that good lol
I would spend money I don't have to see a Point No.1 club tour. But I would settle for a Point No. 1 streamed concert, considering the current global health risks.

Yeah saw them at an early 2000s ozfest (i think it was ozfest, def a festival) and was already a tool fanatic, saw the influence was impressed and he played guitar and sang which i was partial too since its what i was doing and I saw an act i could learn from now this week's is 10 years since my current band was founded. And these are the songs i learnd to actually get good playing and singing with. Dos was one of my first cus of the stop start dynamics lol. Made it easier before i full on had the hang of it. Also part of the reason we kept it a 3 piece untik recently, bit that was a lucky break super talented frontman from a band i always booked withs band broke up and wanted in. Wasnt saying no to a 2nd singer guitarist song writer that good lol
