You know, I always knew that league players have inflated egos and a twisted sense of pride, especially smurfs, but for some reason I never expected one to admit to it so truthfully and blatantly.

@@sirploko Except with real kids that are your own you get to teach them values and raise them to be good productive people in society (hopefully if you're not a shit parent). With league players you know that 90% of the time the people in your games are either NEETS or actual kids with no social lives. Either way they are emotionally damaged as hell and use league and shitting on their teammates as their release for their shitty lives.

Dong, you discuss your topics so thoroughly within 1 video each that I fear you'll have no content to rely on soon :D Other youtubers would've milked each of those topics for 10+ vids each, but you're the Man of this platform. Thank you.
Milking it is the way to go tho tbh you get to cover more aspects, maybe even some new info you got after your video was posted, you get more views and you can give your viewers a much more information n such.
My favorite is when a “jerk off smurf” is getting smashed in his lane 1v1 and starts flaming the absolute fuck out of his team for it because his ego is getting even more bruised than it already was, and he can’t accept the fact that he’s still getting shit on even in two ranks below his own.
This video is NOT sponsored by Turbosmurfs. Hi everyone, so some people were upset that I was promoting a smurf seller in my last short. I wanted to address some of the criticisms and concerns. 1- This is a video that I’ve been working on since December of last year. It’s really hard to get a trusted Smurf vendor to go on record and be transparent. Astro and Flow was a pleasure to work within that regard. I made this video because it was something that had been requested a lot and because it was something that I had found interesting myself. 2- You’ll notice that there have not been any sponsors on my last two videos, this is because I recently left my agency. I put a Bitly link because I know from experience that whenever I even mention someone in one of my videos, their business or stream can grow anywhere from 10-500%. This info is valuable to me as a creator since I have to now negotiate with brands myself. 3- Because we know that this video will help TBS they have agreed to donate a portion of their profits to the NAMI Foundation, a charity for mental health. Although smurfing does have a pretty toxic side to it, I do actually think that TBS makes it a little less so with their policies. If you have any questions about the video feel free to join my discord, I’ll be doing Q and A after every upload on the server from now on for the 1st few days of the upload. discord.gg/Kp6XB8rc
@@coolboy9979 probably our guy here took the money and didn't expect the backlash. Making the video about charity with a referral link just makes me want to puke!
@@Azurac_lol Because this is basically a 10 minute advert for scumbags. CLAIMING these people are donating to a charity with no proof is sketchy, that's why it's a problem. Let people criticize freely and don't just shrug and accept.
The fact that you made a mental health fundraiser in conjunction with this video is pure gold :D. Those are some seriously sick dudes, and not in a good way.
As someone who has multiple smurfs I don't think the existence of smurfs is objectively a bad thing. What I DO think is bad is the ridiculously overinflated ego smurfs have. The whole "Lul trash hardstuck plat my main is GM 500 LP" If you're smurfing, you need to understand that you can't expect the same things out of a gold/plat/diamond player as you would a master/grandmaster/challenger player. Yet they do, which is why they're so needlessly toxic. That's like a high school AP calculus student expecting middle schoolers to know calculus then getting mad that they don't when they haven't even gotten to that point yet.
As someone who has one smurf and regrets playing it after stomping people and ruining peoples fun on enemy team and give my team a very unfair advantage I can tell that its objectively bad and I started that account to play with friends ranked, but then they changed flex Q and I can just play that with them.
I think most smurfers understand that, but just want an excuse to go off. Without the excuse, they may see what they do as a problem. But if they have a reason to be angry, they can justify it and say they dont have an anger issue
This. Last night I had an Elise jg who claimed to be Masters in my low Plat game. She camped our Irelia and the Irelia still got hard stomped, so we lost the game. I just pointed out how Elise's lack of capacity to adapt her game plan of "camp the Irelia" after she started feeding anyway lost us the game and she got super toxic and added me after the game to keep flaming me in dms, about how I'm shit because I have 300 games played and am still plat, and how he was right and better than all of us because he's Masters. My man got out-jungled by a gold top lane main autofilled to jungle, but his ego doesn't understand when he fucks up
@Eddy Stream thats still pretty toxic, just accept that you know what you did was right. Low elo players don't know as much what the "right" thing was. It's like a child throwing a tantrum that they lost their toy and it's your fault.
Imagine wasting $5 or more just to be able to type shit, run it down and ruin somebody else's experience in a videogame just because you aren't able to find joy in anything else in life That's just sad...
"[...]because you aren't able to find joy in anything else in life" this is why we do it. Because you reply with this cringe and start malding in game. There are many joys in life like going for a walk in the park, eating a good meal at a restaurant, going on a date, hanging out with your friends, drinking, getting a good night's sleep, going on vacation. Inting is just one example like the rest. I don't always int but I always do it when my team is annoying. If I have people like you in my team who try to act like a boss and call shots I afk farm sidelane, if I have someone who doesn't follow my calls (I don't follow yours because you are low elo) I run it down. If you ping me in lane I run it down, if I ping you to come scuttle and you don't then I will run your lane down.
Yeah I agree but I think they don't care how people on the outside look at it, all they care is how they'll perceive themselves. It's all come to low self esteem imo, they have to feel they're the best by matching themselves with players with lower knowledge at the game than they do.
To be fair, there isn't much difference a plat 4 player and a silver player. The plat 4 player can easily get smashed by a silver player. The problem is when a Master tier player goes play in gold
@@shai310 i think they still want to be perceived well by others, it comes with the low self esteem. although they obv are doing it for selfish reasons, they are also seeking validation from others. if you have ever been in smurfs que it is actually not possible to have more toxic games lol, with everyone thinking they are the best and should be played around.
Just a theory but these bot accounts contribute Massively to on paper player growth which looks really good on paper which is why riot isnt trying to hard to clear them. For example if the bot accounts make, say 1 million bot accounts a month, thats a million extra accounts on paper that the company to show to the higher ups.
Lol no, it is because people that buy these accounts end up spending money to outfit it for themselves. People have got to stop this idea that executives are idiots being fooled by such simplistic nonsense.
Defending smurfing is like defending a pro soccer player going into playgrounds with kids to play with them. It poses a moral dilemma that is impossible to break out from: If you pull your punches, you probably won't be having fun and the enemy team will still have a ridiculous hard time trying to win because of how much you know about the game that they don't. If you don't pull your punches, you are essentially beating up kids and removing any chance of them winning. Most people defeding smurfing do it from the smurf mentality: It's just one game in an ocean of thousands of games, it won't matter in your gaming year in the long run. Well, guess what, some of us can't play more than one game per day, maybe even one game per week, and having that single moment of "escaping reality" ruined by "010938xFioramaster18gg" really sucks. Nobody wants in on a game that says "hey, there is a chance that you can't win this round". If you were to offer anyone the chance to play a game they can't win from the get go, nobody would do it.
Yo I get ur point of view. I'm of those who don't have daily time to play league. I usually play only on weekends and that if I'm at home if not, no luegue till next weekend and so on. Years ago I started thinking seriously about ranks but then I realised it was not for me. You need time and dedication if you ever want to succeed in any goal. That was not my case: nor time or dedication(the 1st game after 1 week-break feels weird. 2 weeks later even more XD). So I moved to ARAM and that's the place I've been enjoying since then. Aram community can surprisingly be the best part of LoL. Ppl getting involved in reporting toxic/trolling behaviours. We once ff-ed and made the enemy team win cuz one mate got crazy and afked(yep, on aram). I made lots of buddies there and also got the luck to call few of them friends. That's why I am saying Aram community is the best of LoL

ive recognized long ago that theres not competitive integrity in many video games given smurfing, flaming, inters, boosters, wintraders, etc.. so at this point the more important thing to do is to maximize the amount of fun you can have in these games, seeing as there will always be someone that wont be the same skill as you and trying their best

"what are you doing here adc" (spamming question mark ping) and when I tried to help, he spammed and then flamed us all, I went in and told him "chill and that everyone is new here" somehow he didn't realize that, continued the behavior, so I went to all chat and turns out all of them were smurfs, but surprisingly enough they were all chill none of them were sweating probably, and they helped report, but I yet to receive the notification that he has been banned.
I recently made a new account on league, and I was honestly shocked how the skill of players I was going up against, majority were a lot better than me, and they were some difficult games. I can only imagine what it is like to be genuinely new to the game.
I love the part when Astro talks about mental issues and his new project about it. Yeah, I guess many of us take LoL like a space to prove urself. They talked about ego problems during games, jeez so true and sad at same time
I was hoping to get a better understanding of smurfs and maybe have some empathy. Instead, it actually doubled down my belief that the vast majority of them are just sad, sad, sad individuals. Most of the people interviewed are extremely delusional and too far gone to be reasoned with. They feel justified in their actions and "them" smurfing isn't really a problem, it's "everyone else" smurfing who is the problem, failing to realize they are part of the larger problem. This includes the so called "dad" smurfers who justify ruining other people's times because their life is just "oh so busy". That fails to acknowledge that the vast majority of players whose games they are ruining also have busy personal lives and just want to enjoy a game for the limited time that they have. I now have even less sympathy for smurfers and have an even poorer opinion of them.
@@nikolanedkov9988 I mean when you put it that way I enjoy playing mario kart on the switch and stomping other players who are likely mostly kids playing.
A fucking Men. I never played Ranked before this season and I decided I'd run an experiment just to see what it was like. My last 10 games have been complete losses because the majority of them have had some level 57 account on it with some stupid name like IllIIlIlllIlIl or pimpmaster5000 or OccasionalInter infesting the game. And even if there isn't a smurf in the game, I've had games where someone's account was obviously boosted where they were playing Rengar Jungle and literally were completely undefeated with score lines like 15/2/13 for the majority of the games. And then, lo and behold, the moment they end up in my game on my team, they go 2/8/1 and feed their ass off to the enemy Warwick. I've realized that ranks in this game literally do not matter at all when you can have shit like that happen on a regular basis. I thought normals was bad in terms of bullshit but then I realized that Ranked mode acts as a way to quarantine these assholes away from the other modes than anything else.

This is like when a game becomes a lifestyle people treat it differently. The game doesn't stay the same, when it's used for stress relief. Treatment of a ranked game can change it to, "How many promos are we gonna end today?"
So my friend recently started the game, as in brand new. I've been watching her games - and literally every game so far there's been someone smurfing. Smurfing needs to be stopped, because it's going to eventually stop new players from joining. People don't want to play the game when they picked up a mid laner, for the first time ever, and they're vs "MlG Yasuo" the smurf who won't let them even come near a minion without flexing on them.
Went against an obvious smurf the other day in gold. "He" played support and had a 10% win rate or so. Then all of a sudden he started to play top and had around a 95% win rate after 40 games.
The "dad smurfing" doesn't really make sense to me either. Yeah sure you don't have time to play and have real commitments now, and hopping on with a friend who isn't your rank is fine. But you don't have to smurf, because you don't even have to play ranked. Just play normals, or ARAM or the featured gamemode. He tries to make it sound like "oh yeah i don't have time so it's fine if I stomp a player" and it is, but not when people are playing to CARE about climbing. It's not fine in ranked. What's stopping him from playing normals??
I feel like smurfing whilst chilling out just to counter-smurf some asshole. He thinks he's going to get an easy game because it's low ELO but he doesn't know other people are out to make him/her suffer in particular.
So I as a bronze player, have to suffer smerfs in the majority of my games because 1 - they are asshole that want a ego boost 2 - made life choices that mean you just want a easy game at the expense of those that want a fair game. 3- they are a company levelling up accounts so they can sell then to people that want to get a rank that they didn’t earn and just payed for. It honestly ruins the game and one day will be one of the factors that leads to the death of the game If they aren’t careful
I’ve been in bronze for forever. Haven’t seen an actual smurf in god knows how long and honestly with how abysmal bronze is id rather play against a smurf. Least smurfs know how to end games and don’t make a match that was over at 10 minutes somehow last nearly an hour.

i am a Challenger/Grandmaster player. I got there by being a onetrick J4/Jax jg player for 10 years. If i am to play new champions in my elo i will get stomped. If i play normal games, again, i get stomped, because my normal game mmr is d1+ elo. So when i play in lower elos with other champions to learn them, not only do i have a chance at winning, but because players are weaker, i can experiment with multiple approaches, combos, macro, etc; so i learn faster. This also enables me to play with friends so i don't get autofilled(which is painful as an otp) I'll admit, it also feels good to win and be better than everyone else, but it's even more satisfying when you stomp toxic players
I get it man Reaching Diamond means you are like one of the Top 5% of players, but it wont feel like that since you are playing against the other top 5% So you go to a low rank matches to remind yourself that you are actually good at the game
Yeah but to me it's really pathetic, I think climbing and knowing you've beat players who are on your level is much more satisfying than beating players who obviously isn't near to your level. I think the whole idea of being a smurf comes from low self esteem, if you have to feel better about yourself by beating low elo players then the problem is with you imo.
"I have a good reason to smurf, I can't play the game anymore so I have to buy an account just to play. I only do 5-6 games a day. I have a wife and kids..." ...what?

I play on eu, i always had trolls in my promos to diamond most of the time someone will troll you so you don't win it, especially in earlier seasons when it was harder to get it, so when i got higher elo i always checked if someone is in promos to master, diamond, platinum and i enjoyed running it down as revenge.
You say some bull about how you "care so much about mental health" yet you breed its trouble by making the game of up to 5 people every 20 mins absolutely miserable... I wish I was in a position like you to actually be able to act and delete and report every single smurf. Disgusted by you.
Smurfin can definitely be fixed, riot just doesn't have interest in it. Proof: there are TONS of botted accounts (playing intro bot games until level 30) and they still don't ban them even tho it would be SO easy to detect them. Not a single real person would play intro bot games until level 30, and even then, false banning 0.00001% is still okay imo.
I don't understand how "dad smurfing" is at all acceptable. If you want to paly with your friends, then play Normals. You don't need a smurf account for that. If you want to play ranked with your friends, don't. Watch them play and be their coach or something. Make them rise to your level rather than destroy the game for everyone involved. Smurfing also ruins the game for your friends btw, because they get unearned satisfaction which makes the game worse for them when you are not around. Normals are perfect for palying with friends who just want to chill. I don't get why would anyone ever defend these people. I'm also not sure how these smurf businesses can claim their morality when they are directly feeding off of negative emotions and in some encourage them in order to stay profitable by normalizing it. If a person wants got banned for toxicity, they should spend 40 hours grinding a new account. If you have kids and want to play with friends in ranked, you shouldn't play ranked because you are literally ruining the experience for others. If you are a dad, imagine your children playing League and then them being in queue against smurfs. How fun or fair do you think that is? What a fking disaster. Anyone defending bought smurfs is just delusional. DongHuaP, I'm not talking about you. You are just a documentarian, but so many people use your content as justification sometimes and it's so sad to see.
I wonder if the 15-20 minute queue times and lack of meaningful progression rewards at high elo have anything to do with people deciding to play on lower accounts too.
Tyler1 really put it words when I couldn’t “I wait 35-40 minutes to play with people (probably not all at my level) who just run it down or int instead of dodging when their OTP/main gets banned because they, for some reason, would prefer to waste EVERYONES time rather than go next.” Thats super abridged for what he says lol but it gets the point across. I REALLY don’t wanna play on my main account just to spend the better part of an hour waiting in queue to just waste time. I’m not piss smurfing in silver or something I’m in diamond so I’m not curb stomping people. I just wanna play MORE games (with preferably higher quality of fun). I hate that the way the rank system works punishes you for being good if you’re in the upper ranks.
@@NotSoSerious69420 That's kind of how high elo works tbh. The higher you get, the thinner it gets; especially when players are dropping out of queue to go to lower ranks. It be a lot better if riot laxed there system and let golds fight silvers & diamonds more often. Instead it ends up Gold 3 versus Gold 1 versus Gold 5. Challengers all get Masters, and Grandmasters in there games in equal measures. League rewards players from Iron to Masters+ with the mentality of "Play for yourself, you can't trust your teammates. They'll int" Which regardless, if true, is a horrible mentality to have in a team game. You see it as you get higher in rank. It first starts appearing in bronze. The attitude of: this is a solo game. My teammates are slightly better minions. Tyler 1, is actually one of the better people. Smurfs typically sit 2 ranks lower. Ending up with Golds in Bronze, Silvers sit in Iron. Abusing skill to ruin 9 other players time.
@@NotSoSerious69420 That system punishes you no matter what elo you are b/c it's designed to put you where IT thinks you belong and if you have the audacity to try and prove it wrong? You suffer for it. I have a few accounts, my main being in Diamond 3 which I hardly play anymore b/c of long wait times and other variables. However, my first ever league account? Has terrible mmr and I mean high silver/low gold mmr, which I've been slowly fixing, but it's taught me so much about Riot's system overall and it's garbage from a game play perspective. When the system does not want you to climb anymore it will give you less LP per win and more per loss, which I'm sure you know, but also matching you with players who, consistently, have a 48-49% wr to ensure you lose and if you manage a win streak? It will give you even less lp per win...And the icing on the cake? The tier promos. Should you, somehow, manage to defy the system and enter your promos, you will now have 3 games in a row of the most insane toxic inters and quitters you've ever seen, go 0-3 and then get knocked all the way back down to the bottom of that division having to do it all again. It took me weeks to get that account out of silver 1 despite having high cs, a minimum of 75% kp, and high vision score. I could write a book on this, but I'll spare you the rest.
@@jaobidan2358 it's because it wants you to grind. There is absolutely nothing riot wants less than for you to achieve your peak skill level in a matter of a few games and then just sit there. People grinding up to gold/diamond and then just quitting for the season is a problem riot has repeatedly made changes to stop. They really do not like you not addictively playing game after game.

I personally play with my friends and don't play too seriously, it's super chill. I mess around a bit, experiment, and play champs that I'm looking to learn
You can troll games and wish other players suicide and not get banned if you do it in right way. Also if they decide to flame you back then you can ticket report them and Riot Support won't even check if you trolled them or wished them suicide and they get banned and you go unpunished. This is the case what happens if they don't realise to ticket report you.
@@namelesseditor3087 That's probably because he knows bots are regulating the chat. So while he can call you ''waste of oxygen'' if you say ''eat shit'' or ''go fucking die'' you are getting ban, he is not. Especially if you know how to navigate around bots, saying ''K-eep Y-ourself S-afe'' is clearly saying KYS, but it's undetectable by bot, but type KYS and get one SINGLE report, and that's instant 2 weeks ban, perma ban if you already had been honor level 0. And it's never going to change because Riot refuses not to use bots.
Smurfing can be fixed. Make your League account a unique account, make it so you have to pay for the account, increase the level required to enter ranked, make it so you have to use only M7 champions during placement, remove account XP gain for intro-bot games. There are so many benefits to this that would help the game, but it would never happen. Riot loves the chaos, hence the name Riot.
Using only m7 champions and I'll quit the moment they implement that. I had very lucky games with my current m7 champs but my mains are m5/m4. Anyways fuck your solution genius
First smurf talking about "It's pleasurable to see them suffer." And this, ladies and gents, is why I will *NEVER* not send in tickets for every smurf or alt account I see, and ask for IP bans to be implemented. Because of exactly that. Imagine playing ranked on a system that every aspect is rigged with you or against you whenever they feel like it. Imagine even playing this game and not detox yet.
Smurfing used to be called Twinking back in vanilla, tbc and wrath. It was a fun time but it was also us gearing up entirely new characters. Almost stupid for smurfs to waste their time playing low elo players. Just getting comfortable with easy opponents.
They’re different, smurfing comes from starcraft and is based around playing at a much lower mmr than you should be, the original starcraft player was papa smurf because nobody wanted to play against him so he made papa. Like a 2500 2v2 team queing at 1500. Twinking is just giving a low to mid level character full bis items and end game enchants. Or “twinking” them out.
i dont really play league comp much yet but on overwatch i smurfed for 2 reasons: - play with my gold tier friends - to chill, i never tryharded on the accounts, always chill, so the rank settled to where i play at when not fully trying
I still don’t think I’ll ever understand smurfing unless you’re playing another region. I so love the thrill of not knowing if who I’m playing against will really be better than me or not. It’s a gamble, the stakes aren’t money, it’s some LP, but I’m putting my points on the line against theirs. If I ever fall off pretty hard I’ll just have to accept watching my account slide down the ranks, sitting with a shiny rank emblem from a season long ago, that I’ll never be able to reach again. That thrill of gambling probably means I shouldn’t go to Vegas though.
I used to hate smurfs because it just felt like a colossal waste of my time when they were in my game - maybe they were on my team and hard carried without me having to do anything, maybe they were on the enemy team and they giga shit stomped me and I didn't know what to do. Or worse, they were just toxic because I didn't take the fight or listen to their call, or they're just toxic because they've been banned for toxicity already. What would really get under my skin is when players would just take a "lol I don't care about this game its my smurf" and just not try. It didn't feel right that they just wanted to be selfish at the expense of others. Either they wanted an ego boost, wanted easy content for their channel or stream, didn't care about tryharding or were just addicted and toxic. It didn't matter, I didn't care. I just wanted people to actually try in my games. Go play norms. But I realized I had to change perspective because I was just getting mad about something outside of my control. I was expecting people to come to the game with the same expectations and energy I was, and this was foolish. The thing I like the most about games is how freely they can be enjoyed in so many different ways. I just focused on my own play, and didn't care if I won or lost. My own goals, and my own actions ingame, were all I could control so that was the only thing I would spend emotional energy on. At that point it didn't matter if all 9 players were smurfs and playing a different game, or everyone was sitting in base typing small novels. I can practice cs-ing better, or make efforts to use a-click more, or focus on better ward placements, whatever. I realized what was fun about league, for me, was seeing myself improve and having unique and interesting challenges to tackle every game. But the fun for other people, or why they play the game, is different for everyone. If other people need league to be an ego boost or a release from stress and need to smurf to do so then so be it. This video certainly makes me more sympathetic to smurfs, which I might not have been otherwise. I understand a bit more about why people smurf, and though I may not agree with it, it's still valuable to know and a good reminder that there's a human on the other end. Good video as always Mr. Huap, I'll enjoy showing it to my friends.
It feels like you're copping. There are people that are ruining the game for others, and while focusing on your own game play is a way to keep good mental and improve, that doesn't make what they're doing OK.
Astro just got a huge reputation boost just by assisting in this documentary. Smart guy. Anyone who sees this video will buy from them if they ever need an account.
First of all, smurfing is cheating? Second of all, if he wants to play with his new friends, like he said.. its not possible for his friends to reach his elo and play, so he has to make a new account, if he doesn't now its even worse with them having to play with the high rank friends mmr as new player. Surely you wouldn't want that in your own team aswell. I know this, as I had to create a new account when I wanted to introduce my small brother to this game. I am only plat, but my normal game mmr is diamond, no way I am going to queue that with a new player, and make everyone else in my team and my small brother suffer. So whats you solution? There is no entitlement here.
@@Nischal_Kandel idk you could also be like me, new player with 2 kids and working 70 hours a week. I play with my vet friends (lvl 180-350) I just suck it up and play the dam game. Sure I suck and hold them back a bit but we make the most of it and have fun. Ruining the game for others solves absolutely jack shit, especially when it's for stupid ass selfish reasons like that one. He uses it as an easy and convenient excuse is all.
@@Nischal_Kandel No one cares about smurfs in normal games. The mmr there is fucked up anyways and normals should be a place to have and try out new stuff. (Which sadly it isn't, because people sweat like they're still in the ranked queue) The Problem only comes when you're going into ranked games and smurf on people who are legitimately trying to climb the ladder. You don't even learn anything from playing against a smurf, because they're just so much better that it isn't comprehensible what went wrong to a bronze player when they lose. In the end it's just a dickmove to intrude in a space where you certainly don't belong for whatever reason you might have, when there's supposed to be skillbased-matchmaking.
@@itshanhan1 Based on my anecdotal experience Most smurf players are not diamond and masters on bronze, its more like silver and gold peakers in bronze. Ofcourse every rank can get smurfed on and even though I am plat, a challenger would smurf me so hard that I wouldn't even know what I did wrong, but a chall would most likely smurf in masters/diamond. I 100% agree that there are some ego players that play on ranks wayyy wayyy below theirs like hardstuck diamond playing in iron just for ego, but these cases are very far and in between. so for the most part Its definitely possible to improve after facing a lot of smurf if you look at it as a challenge instead, that's how I went from low silver in first season to low plat in second. Most smurfs are playing only a little bit below their comfortable skill level .
Finally someone said it. Even looking, the only reason I used to smurf just comes back to wanting a dopamine hit. There's a few that are just old players that want to play a game with a friend but most are just people who have a ego and want to Stomp on players for a few games
"dad smurfing" is still not good for the game. You dont get yo ruin somebody's game just because your friends are worse at the game then you. no matter how many kids you have.
most smrufs i see around plat elo are often just hard stuck gold or plat maby d4 at best or toxic and got banned ,they legit have no real good reaosn to make a smurf acc. i also dont believe the hole dad thing going on
riot would never ban smurfing simply because 90% of pretty much everyone is smurfing in some form and doing so would make them lose a ton of players and money
Riot creates a lot of toxicity by permabanning people's original accounts instead of just muting them. Once someone's 'legacy' account is gone buying smurfs and trolling means nothing because the accounts are $5.00. I had an 8 year old account from Season 1 that was permabanned after a single toxic game in D1/Master's and I only ever received automated responses from Riot. I'm NGL I give 0 fks about these new accounts I buy. If they get banned oh well I can get another one. If you annoy me I'll just alt + f4 and hop onto another account. If Riot had preserved the integrity of my original account I would be 1% as toxic to the game as I currently am.
I don’t have a second account in League, but I do have one for Overwatch. On Overwatch, I used the second account to try out and practice heroes I wasn’t the best at, such as Widowmaker. I also played comp in it and placed higher on the second account then on my main but I didn’t clown in comp just because it was a second account. I tried on that account as much as I would my main and I call out people for being toxic in the game. (It’s not as frequent as League toxicity, but it it still does happen) I personally still don’t understand why people will make a whole new account just to be a toxic jerk to others, it’s not fair to other players and ruins the fun in any online game, be it Overwatch or League. ;-;
I feel like there's an incredibly easy solution for this. Bring back PvE game modes. When I'm trying to play with my little siblings, or a new player, they have to put up with my level of opponents. When I get beat as a support main by a fed mid lane Katarina running 8 kills at 12 minutes, I get tilted. People hate ending the night on a loss. Unfortunately, we're force to accept being bullied by better people as your final experience for the night, or going back in for possibly another beating. When I play with friends, we prefer ARAM just because it's more fair and fun. Scaling difficulty PvE game modes would provide a way for tilted players to have some focused causal fun. It would be a way for new players to get some experience. It would be a way for low elo players to play with high elo friends towards a FAIR goal. It's hard to this as an issue, when there's an obvious solution.
I don't see type of smurf, who create accounts and plays them in order to IMPROVE. This is something you notice with time and experience, but the truth is, once is hit some higher elo and you create new accounts, you start to see differences between those mmrs, those elos. You start noticing things like players you play againts in those smurf accounts, they don't trade effectively for example, or they don't ward properly, they don't play with map properly and you just go and tell for ursel "oh, so maybe if i do "this" or "that" on my main account, it could help me". In other words, smurfing can help you see things... It can show you difference and that can help you improve. One of the biggest differences between low and high elo account, is pressure factor. The more often your lane opponent trade with you, more agressive and effective his trades or pokes are, more pressure is created upon you. What you as a smurf may notice, is that as you play againts low elo players, you can feel that. You can feel their poor trading, their poor positioning and other stuff and that create little to basically no pressure on you. And that helps you think more clearly and make therefore better decitions. On the other hand you create immense pressure on entire enemy team. Not only you disable them ability to compete with you, you also basically disable their ability to think thanks to that amount of pressure you create upon them. I would like to mention this too. Not all smurfs need to create accs for ego reasons. Some of us are doing it purely for improving reasons.
They have all the stats from every game. They can assign a MMR style number to you really quickly, and in direct link with your skills and performances. Could take just a few games to put you back to high elo and leave the low elo queue alone.
This is already a thing with smurf queue, which is arguably a hellish experience filled with only smurfs/griefers. This is where most lvl 30 accounts get placed in
@@64Talon i don't think people want high mmr low rank accounts. they want to buy accounts that are actually in the division that matches that high mmr.
I think there are a few reasons for smurfing i can understand and accept Examples would be playing on a low level account with you low level friends, so they don't immediately play against platinum players (in normals) Making a new account to see how far you climb on a different role
There is no good reason to smurf. The closest you can get to being a reasonable smurf is when you are a supp main and want to try jungle, but even then its questionable, since flexQ exists for such stuff. The dad people can also just play flex if they are afraid of being bad and inting. And the ego people are just bad/sad people
Well as a sometimes toxic smurf i got to say that you are so addicted to the game sometimes , that you see your results saying to you "take a rest stop playing" and you just keep spaming games cause is an addiction ! So you go to your smurf account to get your toxic games so you dont hurt your climb.
When i smurf, i dont tryhard bc i know it can be someone that is new in the game ( i peak elo GM 300 lp this season), when someone try to flame another i usually try to teach and how them can improve.
I will confess... I used to be one of the main vendors of low Diamond accounts in NA. I would promote and demote out of diamond a dozen times and was hopelessly addicted to the game. I had a coaching business with an underground duo-boosting, boosting, and account selling business. Non-ToS sales always happened through DMs, but duo-boosting was public and spoken about with even rioters. I even had more than 4 Riot customers that wanted to purchase accounts or purchase duo boosting. They did not trust account sharing. Other boosters are sometimes ass holes, but some typically are just regular guys trying to make an extra buck. Weird economic environment because it takes advantage of addicition just like drugs, but without any substances.
I've been playing the game for less than a year and have only made one smurf account, and intend for it to be the only one. It's a bit embarrassing, but Jungle was the only role I did not know how to play, was too intimidated to learn, and avoided like the plague. I'd straight dodge if I got autofilled JG- even the thought of playing it was too stressful. One awful game as a clueless Warwick was enough trauma for me. Then, the new Jungle Pet update came out and I decided to put myself into exclusive jungle training mode on a new account. I'd done this because I thoroughly felt that my main's MMR was too high for my lack of knowledge and skill in the jungle role, I didn't want to just get crushed without learning anything, or seem like an INTer to my team. I played on that account up to level 14, that's when I felt comfortable enough to switch back to my main. I still feel that it was the most beneficial thing to my late learning of the role, and a rare instance of acceptable smurfing.

Imagine a 2000+ chess player feeling powerful for beating a 1000 opponent... pathetic

Defending smurfing is like defending a pro soccer player going into playgrounds with kids to play with them. It poses a moral dilemma that is impossible to break out from:
If you pull your punches, you probably won't be having fun and the enemy team will still have a ridiculous hard time trying to win because of how much you know about the game that they don't.

If your joking around having fun don’t play ranked that’s the only advice I can give. Your asking to be harassed if you do that especially in league. If people don’t like your pick your a monster lmao.
@@CrityCrit just do /ignore all at the begging of every match and turn off both chats in game settings. I have done it 3 months ago after YEARS of being flamed (jungle main) and the game finally started to feel fun.
Hackers too. Indeed bro good stuff
I once encountered a smurf, back when I made a new account to help a friend, and he was flaming our team hard saying "jg why cant you gank you ****!!!" "what are you doing here adc" (spamming question mark ping) and when I tried to help, he spammed and then flamed us all, I went in and told him "chill and that everyone is new here" somehow he didn't realize that, continued the behavior, so I went to all chat and turns out all of them were smurfs, but surprisingly enough they were all chill none of them were sweating probably, and they helped report, but I yet to receive the notification that he has been banned.
I recently made a new account on league, and I was honestly shocked how the skill of players I was going up against, majority were a lot better than me, and they were some difficult games. I can only imagine what it is like to be genuinely new to the game.
i went on to have 20% WR on my first dozen games. that's all you need to know
I love the part when Astro talks about mental issues and his new project about it.
I played one game of ranked and wanted to quit immediately because of the flame. It's incredible how people act.

You know whats even sadder when you think about it?
it makes sense why a smurf gets over offended when you call them out on there ego. What else do some of them have? Not all smurfs but some genuinely dont have anything but league of legends to look forward to in there life. No family, no irl friends, no relationship. All they have is league.
Such a pathetic way to live, this is why I don't feel any envy towards higher tier players
You’re not wrong, the only thing in life is being good at a game which half the human population don’t give a fuck. They have no talent outside the real world so they sit in the only thing that give them ecstasy in life, by ruining beginners players games. Because they have a sad miserable life.

Thats not a smurf , thats an elo booster playing on their account
The "dad smurfing" doesn't really make sense to me either. Yeah sure you don't have time to play and have real commitments now, and hopping on with a friend who isn't your rank is fine. But you don't have to smurf, because you don't even have to play ranked. Just play normals, or ARAM or the featured gamemode. 1 - they are asshole that want a ego boost
2 - made life choices that mean you just want a easy game at the expense of those that want a fair game.
3- they are a company levelling up accounts so they can sell then to people that want to get a rank that they didn’t earn and just payed for.
It honestly ruins the game and one day will be one of the factors that leads to the death of the game If they aren’t careful

Great take
i am a Challenger/Grandmaster player.
This also enables me to play with friends so i don't get autofilled(which is painful as an otp)
I'll admit, it also feels good to win and be better than everyone else, but it's even more satisfying when you stomp toxic players
I get it man
Reaching Diamond means you are like one of the Top 5% of players, but it wont feel like that since you are playing against the other top 5%
So you go to a low rank matches to remind yourself that you are actually good at the game
Diamond is topn1%
Yeah but to me it's really pathetic, I think climbing and knowing you've beat players who are on your level is much more satisfying than beating players who obviously isn't near to your level. I think the whole idea of being a smurf comes from low self esteem, if you have to feel better about yourself by beating low elo players then the problem is with you imo.

How about some receipts? Scumbags

Riot just don’t care smh! THATS the problem imho..they could fix it really easily, but rather come out with new champions 🤦🏽
remember to regularly get boosted so you can ruin high elo games becasue high elo smurfs are ruining low elo games
You are just a documentarian, but so many people use your content as justification sometimes and it's so sad to see.
big big big agree. Though norms wouldn't really solve the "dad smurf issue" because norms has mmr too. still big agree.
I had to scroll way too far down to find this lol. Why do they HAVE to play ranked
That guy who smurfs and says he isn't an angry person irl is capping so hard.
I wonder if the 15-20 minute queue times and lack of meaningful progression rewards at high elo have anything to do with people deciding to play on lower accounts too.
Tyler1 really put it words when I couldn’t
“I wait 35-40 minutes to play with people (probably not all at my level) who just run it down or int instead of dodging when their OTP/main gets banned because they, for some reason, would prefer to waste EVERYONES time rather than go next.” Thats super abridged for what he says lol but it gets the point across.
League rewards players from Iron to Masters+ with the mentality of
"Play for yourself, you can't trust your teammates. They'll int"
Which regardless, if true, is a horrible mentality to have in a team game.
It wants you to grind and feel like you achieved something again and again each time you go up even though the system is just finally slowly putting you where you belong.
People grinding up to gold/diamond and then just quitting for the season is a problem riot has repeatedly made changes to stop. They really do not like you not addictively playing game after game.

Yeah... you gearing your alt has nothing to do with smurfing my guy. You cannot smurf on World of Warcraft, its impossible.
i dont really play league comp much yet but
on overwatch i smurfed for 2 reasons:
- play with my gold tier friends
- to chill, i never tryharded on the accounts, always chill, so the rank settled to where i play at when not fully trying
Smurfing literally ruins the game
Well said.
It feels like you're copping. There are people that are ruining the game for others, and while focusing on your own game play is a way to keep good mental and improve, that doesn't make what they're doing OK.
It's like moderation nirvana. Playing to not lose < Playing to win < Playing to learn < Playing because you want to.
Great channel very interesting all these documentary videos
Astro just got a huge reputation boost just by assisting in this documentary. Smart guy. Anyone who sees this video will buy from them if they ever need an account.
I bought a Smurf to prove to myself I wasn't actually iron. I am now trying to learn how to play top lane :P
So did you make it out of Iron?
@@Biggestfoo the account started at iron iv, 2 lp. It now sits somewhere in mid silver. Voatori if you want to look it up lol
@@TheGamingLegendsOfficial Nice, you might be able to make it to Silver I if you keep going. But why is your top champ yuumi if you play top?
@@Biggestfoo I didn't legitimately grind this account lol
I have 5 kids so I'm allowed to cheat...
The entitlement of parents is always amazing to witness.
Yeah such a silly excuse
Always happy to see a new dong video
Your conclusion that their justification for smurfing are valid is really pathetic. "I CaN OnLY pLAy 3 GaMEs A DaY I HavE to SmuRf"
Finally someone said it. Even looking, the only reason I used to smurf just comes back to wanting a dopamine hit. There's a few that are just old players that want to play a game with a friend but most are just people who have a ego and want to Stomp on players for a few games
And then there is me, who just tries to deal with ranked anxiety and tries to "re-experience" the time I started playing.
"dad smurfing" is still not good for the game. You dont get yo ruin somebody's game just because your friends are worse at the game then you. no matter how many kids you have.
I'm in a Smurf queue despite my account being like level 300, it's either terrible or free wins, really weird experience.
most smrufs i see around plat elo are often just hard stuck gold or plat maby d4 at best or toxic and got banned ,they legit have no real good reaosn to make a smurf acc. i also dont believe the hole dad thing going on
Smurfing should be a bannable offense, full stop.
riot would never ban smurfing simply because 90% of pretty much everyone is smurfing in some form and doing so would make them lose a ton of players and money
@@whimsicalchronicles8798 other mobas ban smurfing with zero issues
@@ShattForte yeah but its not really something you can enforce because even IP bans can be sidestepped with something like a VPN
I don’t have a second account in League, but I do have one for Overwatch. On Overwatch, I used the second account to try out and practice heroes I wasn’t the best at, such as Widowmaker. I also played comp in it and placed higher on the second account then on my main but I didn’t clown in comp just because it was a second account. I tried on that account as much as I would my main and I call out people for being toxic in the game. (It’s not as frequent as League toxicity, but it it still does happen)
I personally still don’t understand why people will make a whole new account just to be a toxic jerk to others, it’s not fair to other players and ruins the fun in any online game, be it Overwatch or League. ;-;
I have a "smurf" ow account too that I used to use when I didn't want to chance losing SR on my main xD
Is this an ad for turbo smurf wtf
How is ARAM more fair though? You just get dicked by rng instead of a smurf.
I liked that slight diss you did to unbox therapy with the bot accounts 😂😂😂.
I do have to give it to Dota smurfing is almost non existent
This would be too easy to get high elo accounts and then sell them though. So that would ruin high elo games
@@64Talon it will work both ways...
Doesn't fix the fact that 90% of flamers and inters in ranked are those level 30 accounts. even high elo people dont like that.
'' i am quite chill dude outside of the game''
yeah yeah.. give this guy a machinegun after a lose-streak and you will see
Hella people use the game just to vent negative emotions
haha good video Donger!
I love how the first guy just owns what he's talking about
I think there are a few reasons for smurfing i can understand and accept
Examples would be playing on a low level account with you low level friends, so they don't immediately play against platinum players (in normals)
Making a new account to see how far you climb on a different role
What about accounts to have a good selection for ARAM?
Cool man.
Felt more like an ad than a documentary, this time around
