- First person action cam + creative 360 camera in the same package! Insta360's new(ish) ONE RS is a game-changer in the action camera market (in a good way).
Find out what I like and dislike about the new ONE RS in the context of bike-centric content creation.

The one RS is definitely an interesting camera. However, I've already had three defects & return to Hong Kong for warranty repair issues. The 360 lens mod had a lens shake loose, the 360 lens mod caused the camera to overheat & fail in a 34°C + ride, swapping from 4k boost to 360 lens mods caused the SD to become unreadable by a computer only the phone app could download the files. 3hrs of MTB ride footage takes a long time and multiple sessions to transfer via phone to a NAS ... Documented on my channel if interested in the particulars.
This camera has some issues & I'm waiting for the warranty replacement to arrive to do more testing... Not very happy with the expense and hassle .
Dang. Bum luck. I’ve heard that ppl prefer the Insta360 cameras since they don’t lock up as much as GoPro
@@TheBikeSauce I've had 4 or 5 lockup events. Usually with the 360 lens mod. Haven't seen it since there last FW release though. However, the overheating issue and that SD card access issue after the formatting & lens swap issue took my focus away. I also use an Osmo action and it is rock solid. Only downside is the smaller field of view. I thought the 360 perspective would give better steeps that MTB riders experience, that's primarily why I got the One RS . Now I'm back to the Osmo action while I wait for the RS to return.
Is it possible to see the view behind and can it detect overtaking traffic
Great review! I've been thinking about picking up a Go-Pro, now I've got something else to compare to.
By the way that footage of you wiping out - amazing for reference (yay Insta36) but makes me cringe to watch knowing your injuries.
Haha yea I debated putting that clip in.. but thankfully I healed up, so figured it’s ok
Would this be recommended if I were to use this camera on commutes for safety purposes?
I very much prefer the One X2 (I recommend using Premium lens guard). It has a better battery and less heating issues (I've seen several RS version overheat in room temperature). They also just released a new bike mount which goes very well with the One X2.
Right on man
Nice! I'd actually be interested in the full battery drain specs. I mount a hero6 on my saddle and record 30fps @ 2.7k, which gives me 90-100 min of battery life. It's the lowest res where I can get most license plate numbers of passing vehicles. I really want something that can shoot higher res and last 2 hours on a single battery. As you move to higher end go-pros you trade battery-life for better stabilization, but I find that the hero 6 stabilization is good enough for my road rides.
Got it. Like a dash cam nice
I use the One RS 4K lens mounted under my head unit. Then I have Insta360 Roadie remote (designed for a car steering wheel) that fits on my handle bar. It works very well.
Oh that’s pretty cool
Getting into the realm of non road cycling, really been enjoying your content my dude! Im also local to ya , would love to go for a ride sometime if youre willing!
Planning on some gravel or mtb group rides at some point!
Are you in the valley?

I’ve been using a GoPro Session 4 and it’s ok, not stable at all but the App interface makes it simple to post content and uploading videos on my Mac 💻 is ok but sometimes it doesn’t recognize in my iPhoto app
Yea right on. Most cameras have their quirks and nuances.
@@TheBikeSauce true.
BTW I really enjoy your content, it’s done extremely well and as you can guess I’m obsessed with Mtn and gravel bikes plus I enjoy tech for tracking my data. I’m on strava and post my rides there too
