7 PM: Hurricane Ida should be a dangerous category-4 at landfall

- Hurricane Ida continues to barrel toward a Louisiana coast landfall as a very dangerous major hurricane around 1 p.m. Sunday.
Ida is currently located in the south-central Gulf of Mexico, approximately 325 miles southeast of Houma, Louisiana. The storm will continue to strengthen before landfall tomorrow.
On the latest forecast track, the National Hurricane Center has Ida making landfall in southeast Louisiana Sunday afternoon as a Category 4 hurricane with winds of 130 mph. There is always advised to plan for a category higher as there is always uncertainty with a tropical system intensity.
The storm is expected to rapidly intensify due to deep, warm ocean waters and relaxed wind shear in the Gulf of Mexico. Combined with a decent outflow, these ingredients are prime for a strong, potentially devastating storm to grow in the atmosphere.
Wind, rain, and storm surge will all be threats. We are expecting conditions to worsen tonight, throughout Sunday into Monday morning. Don't think you can wait to prepare due to a Sunday landfall as the effects will begin over the next few hours. Preparations to protect life and property should be rushed to completion NOW.
Before your head touches your pillow tonight , be sure to say a prayer. Louisiana residents are resilient and we will get through this. ♥️

Me too and I’m further up north! I wasn’t expecting rain here until Sunday night into Monday morning and it’s STORMING ALREADY! It was so funny because everybody in my house just stopped and looked at each other 😂! I said “ I KNOW that’s not thunder and rain already?!” I thought a truck was passing by with loud pipes 😂! My dad stays across the street from me and 4 neighbors ALL have big trucks with pipes 😂! I looked at the cameras and sure enough it’s raining hard.
People need safe housing in hurricane areas. Solid concrete domes. Idk why they don't make homes like that there. Safety safety safety!

1 - The NHC didn't raise the wind speed because the hurricane hunters didn't find them.
2 - it DID follow exactly what the NHC said, which is why they use the cone and not your straight line.

I hate not knowing exactly what these storms are going to do, so many times in the past we have had storms make a change last second. Laura wasn't supposed to hit our home and because the shift it did at the last second we got hit.
I don't wish this on anybody but I'm glad lake Charles isn't getting hit again. They're still rebuilding from last year.
With the incoming CME it will be interesting to see how it strengthens.

They're human and they live there. Their homes and families and friends are there. How can they not be emotionally invested? If they showed no emotion, you'd call them reports.
