In todays video I will be reviewing a product that for me is an interesting product. The reason for that is my 2019 Mazda MX5 Miata ND2 does not support wireless Apple Carplay nor Android Auto, with the AI BOX LITE from One Car Stereo I will get the option to do so wirelessly.
The dongle does not only give you the option of running Apple Carplay and Android auto wirelessly but it natively also has support for playing Netlix and TH-cam on your infotainment system.

On the MX5 the touch screen does not work when in motion so it that is out of play when having this connected.
On the Mach-e we have the touch works as expected when I tried with this dongle

If your car does not have wired apple carplay or android auto this will not work.
I am not into the details on when the AA/Carplay was included for the MX5

Does it play videos while driving? Also, is it me or is the layout rather basic/old looking and more cumbersome to use than OttoCast?
yes it does play videos while driving, the layou is not as nice as a regular AA/carplay layout. I have videos coming on similar products which I find that works better
Does your carplay box get disconnected (shut down) automatically every hour or so?
Not that I have experienced. I don't drive that long of drives with the car it is connected to.

How do you add videos to the video app?
I don't understand why they bring these products out that lag would never purchase anything that lags like that...
This is the first one I’ve seen that lagged. Wi-Fi signal was probably the issue
Interesting device. I have wireless CarPlay in my BMW and of course the same wired setup as you in my MX-5. Living with both I’m not gonna say wireless is the be all and end all. It occasionally crashes, and when playing TH-cam videos on the phone screen whilst waiting for my wife 🙄there’s an irritating lag with the sound. And I usually have to plug my phone in anyway! In the Mazda, I have a small phone, so with a short coiled wire to attach it, the phone fits nicely in the little cubby next to the ports. THE ISSUE (that I’ve finally gotten around to mentioning) is that driving top down on sunny days, the phone rapidly overheats. So I have to use a long cord to plug in the phone so it can live in the bin between the seats. So I wonder if heat is an issue with this unit.
I have had wireless Carplay and or Android Auto on my G20 330e, my VW ID3 and the Mach-e and for me it has worked really well.
Yeah the heat with the phone is a issue in a convertible. I will get a longer cabel and tuck it away under the seat or somewhere not visible and it won't at least be in direct sunlight.
Did you have wired apple carplay through mazda prior to this?
Correct, a prerequisite is to have support for wired Carplay/Android Auto
check password and try again error I’m having error while try to connect to my hotspot have any idea ?
Did it get sorted out? I did not have such issue with my Iphone 14 Pro
You can try remove the carplay/AA connection on the phone and redo the connection
You can also try to change the password to see if that makes any change
There is a setting under apps --> system settings --> Fixed wifi password you can try to toggle that on as well.
How do you update the software please?
For updating the product I think it is best to reach out to one car stereo on how to do that and if it possible without causing any issues
