I really need that canning set I have a hard time with the other types my hands are not what they use to be always dropping the jar from the cheap tongs and knocking over my jars from the funnel hugs and blessings ❤🙏😇
Just found your channel when Pam @roseredhomestead shared information about the wreck. I have been watching continuously and even though I used to can with my mother who's now 93 and have waterbathed canned for yeasrs, you have taught me several things I didn't know. We are never to old to learn and you are an excellentteacher. As a widow I know the pain of loosing a spouse. My prayers 🙏🙏🙏 are with you and your family at this time. Looking forward to when you start making video's again when God tells you the time is right.
Going to can up 6 bags of cranberries today per your recipe Heather. Sterilizing my pint jars now and cranberries are thawing out. Have had them in freezer for some time. Love me some cranberry sauce.. yum Will put the orange juice and zest in it too. Thanks for posting your recipe and I do hope you are still healing. I know it has been hard and how much you must miss Matt. Wish I could help you. God is still Good. ☺♥
Thank you for the videos Heather. I've discovered that learning to can is a wonderful way to fight back at anxiety. Have made your: apple pie filling, onion jam, another batch of apple pie filling, modified by dicing the apples instead of slices (for strudels, desserts, and for adding to homemade muffins etc). Also made the pear butter recipe. Just made brown sugar last night for the onion jam. My husband was, um, skeptical, thinking that it would be "different". (Ya THINK? LOL!) And now that he's seen it in action, he's hooked. Lol. Just brought home ingredients for your Christmas jam, and blueberry anything, and more apple pie filling to send out to family for Christmas. I love your recipes, just wanted you to know that you're helping many people to continue to change their lives for the better, including helping me fight back against anxiety. I wish I'd have discovered your channel sooner, before the accident. But, here we are, and I just want to say thank you for teaching us so much.
Just tried this recipe with a couple of changes: Substituted the 6 C sugar for 3 Cups of plain sugar + 2 Cups Packed Brown Sugar. (It sounds odd, but it kicked it up a couple of octaves). Plus I added 1 Tsp of Ground Allspice. Wow...the family went nuts over it. The BS gives it a deep richness and the spice, a touch of that holiday feeling. It made 18 1/2 pints. I just took the Orange Cranberry Cheese Turnovers I made out of the oven. They smell heavenly.
Lucky you! I’ve never seen fresh cranberries for less than $1.99 a bag unless I can obtain some from Costco/Sam’s warehouses. Fresh Cranberry juice sounds awesome!
I made this and it was awesome. The only thing I did different was to process two oranges including the rind, and add it to the mix!! It was awesome and hubby loved it!! Thanks for the recipe!!
This was such a hit that hubby went Iiuy and bought 12 more bags of cranberries. Yeah, you heard me right...12 MORE BAGS! Think I will be in the kitchen a lot longer but oh how beautiful they will look on my shelf.
+Rachele Kelly HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! this is the best comment i have read ALL DAY!!!! I love it! Tell hubster I said HI and man..... you are so right! They are going to look beautiful up on your pantry shelves! :D
I love watching you can. You are so clean about it. I have watched others and I cringe when I see some of the things they do. keep up the good teaching. love from Colorado
I just watched this again, as I’m making some now. Sweet Mason was just SO PRECIOUS! You guys have been through so much since this video was made, and God has been faithful through it all.
Amen! Amen!!!!! He is sovereign and good. He heals and restores. These old videos are such a tender mercy and gift. I am so thankful the kids can watch them. ❤️
Heather, just love your recipe for cranberries with orange!! I just got my Ball water bath canner in the mail and I think this sounds like a great first canning experience. Thanks for sharing and being my muse and my information source in all thins canning and bread baking!!!
Heather I just made this with the oranges too. I also added grated ginger zest with the orange and did half brown sugar and half white sugar. I even added some finely chopped apples. amazing. thank you.
Heather I found your recipe today. I have followed you for years, I was looking for a cranberry orange sauce to be able to can. I'm so thankful I found this. Happy Thanksgiving, 2023.
Thanks Heather! You make it look so easy and so much fun. I cant quite start canning yet but when i do i will have you right by my side! Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!
I love to use 2 cups of orange juice.... 1 cup of sugar.... 1 bag of local cranberries which is Ocean Spray.... There is a local farm :) zest of orange and cook for 10 mins then I add 1 pint of raspberries :). LOVE LOVE LOVE IT !!!!!
Started watching your videos after "canning surfing" on TH-cam after you moved. Now I'm bing watching the videos before and love seeing your sweet child's smile enjoying your labor of love.! Priceless!
I make my cranberry sauce almost like yours and yes adding the orange juice just makes it off the charts delicious. I don't cook mine down all the way and at the end before I put it in the jar I add mandarin oranges and diced apples or pares and there has been a few times that I added raisins to the mix.
I make cranberry relish all year long. When they are in season I freeze 20-30 bags so that I have them all year. This looks awesome, I want to can some and have it ready on the shelf! Thanks for the video.
Just finished up making this for the first time and it taste wonderfiul..We did make it with the orange juice..10 Wide Mouth Pint Jars... I am looking forward to making more
Hillshire Farms has this cranberry mustard, my family loves it, but its too expensive. So I came up with a copycat recipe, I had to make it twice last year. Now I cant find the recipe I wrote down LOL. It tastes amazing on some summer sausage. My husband and I love it chunky and saucy, so I make 1 pot saucy and 1 pot chunky then mix them.
I have always made cranberry sauce with oranges. Back in the 70s and 80s the oceanspray brand had a recipe on it that you did not cook. I have always made it that way. Maybe I will try this recipe. 😃 😊. God bless you and your family 👪 🙏 ❤️
Your son is adorable. Thank you for the recipe and canning demo - I've never canned before but want to try. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. GOD bless.
I couldn't get fresh cranberry, but I did get dryed cranberry. It turned out absolutely amazing. I did dehydrate the cranberry though. But followed your receipe. So delicious. Thanku for the amazing receipe.😁
I love homemade canned cranberries. Totally over the top. So easy Peasy and great flavor. I like your add in of oranges. I will be adding that to my next batch. Thanks for that! Thank you for adding the recipe.
Oh my goodness! I've spent the past two days watching canning videos and decided to try your Orange Cranberry sauce today. I've never made or canned this before. What a delight!! The orange zest gives it the perfect balance of citrus. This will be made and canned every year now. Thank you for your videos. You are so appreciated !!
I've canned a lot of chicken this year. This will go beautifully with that chicken! I've learned so much from you, Noreen, Linda and Katzcradul. My friend and I are going to try some of your bread recipes as well. Really looking forward to that! Blessing to you and your family and thank you for all your help ♥
It doesn't last in my house. We use it on tofurkey sandwich. PB&J, I have even put it in BBQ sauce. I have also used it to w soy sauce to marinate tofu. I use the exact same recipe. I put it over vanilla ice cream once & it was great. I have also added it to a sweet bread & muffins. Thanks for the white cranberry tip. I didn't know that. I buy mine before Thanksgiving but here in the south they put it on sale after. That when I stock up. It goes in the freezer till I can can some more. Great vid!
I just got my Jersey fresh cranberries and I’d like to can them like my nana used to do. I just don’t quit remember how she did it. Thank you for your help.
Yay! I love making this with OJ too! Someone made some the same way but at a Christmas gathering she put a bit of Allspice in it and it makes it taste more Christmas-y! A bit deeper and nice for special occasions.
Enjoyed this video. Your little taste tester was feeling the tang in his jaws. He kept putting his hands up to them, he is so precious. Look forward to more videos. Happy Thanksgiving and God bless you and your family.
Made homemade for the first time a couple years ago. Never liked the canned stuff! I used orange and cinnamon it was so good! I’m going to can it this year !
I get something called "cranberry orange salad" from Gordon Foods. They only have it at Thanksgiving, usually all sold out in a week. I like to have it at Thanksgiving & Christmas dinners. It has larger, and more pieces of the orange pulp and rind. its served cold and its awesome. The cranberries are halved and not cooked down as much as yours. I think I'll give it a try and alter your recipe just a smidge. I found a place that I can now buy my own cranberry plants, so I want to give it a go at growing my own. My dog and I like them dehydrated too, craisins, great for you & a wonderful snack. Thank you for the basic recipe.
Way thumbs up I did that last or so and it is awesome! But trust me on this if you like Raspberries do my Raspbanero Jam and make Cranberry sauce with it you might never go back :)
I am a new subbie and I love your channel. My grandmother taught me to can and I love it. I have gotten so much inspiration from watching your videos. Thank you for taking the time to do them.
I have been shopping all day for Thanksgivingnand only have fro pick up my Honeybaked ham tomorrow but oh, wait! Heather just posted a beautiful mouth-watering cranberry orange sauce that I HAVE to make so have to stop for cranberries and oranges. Thank you!
+Rachele Kelly HAHAHA ok this literally just made me laugh out loud! LOL!!!!! I am so sorry you have to brave that store ONE MORE TIME before Thursday! hahaha But, I will say, this sauce is worth enduring that crowded store for! Let me now what you think!
Hi Heather! I'm in Michigan as well. Battle Creek. I have made several of your bread recipes and I love them!! I was new to cooking homemade , and you made me feel like I should give it a try. I'm so glad I did ! I look forward to your videos. Happy Thanks giving to your family :)
That looks super yummy! My ex-mother-in-law made a cranberry relish and I don't know if she didn't give me the whole recipe or if I somehow messed it up but the one time I tried it it was horrible. But it had the orange and pecans. I don't know if you can can something with nuts in it or not but if you can maybe sometime do a small batch and try it with pecans. I ended up finding a recipe for what Ina Garten calls a conserve that was so similar in flavor to the relish, so easy to make and tasted fantastic.
@@TheKneadyHomesteader yeah most of it's too fancy for me too, and years ago I didn't enjoy watching her. I think she reminded me of Martha who I don't care for it at all. Then a few years ago I started watching some of her shows and I liked her a lot better. Still way too fancy for me and I don't know how a conserve is different than a compote, but it is very tasty LOL
I love this and all your videos everytime I want to can something I go right to your site please can you leave a link to your canning set I just love it ,cant find that one hugs and blessings 😇🙏❤
thanks for making it look so easy...ive never made homemade cranberry sauce and i thought it was really hard so i wasnt going to make it for thanksgiving but now i will attempt it!! thanks so much xoxo from california!!
+Melissa Wilson absolutely!!!!! let me know if you give it a shot this year! super simple! for every 1 bag, use a cup of water and 1-2 cups of sugar. and of course, replace some of that water with orange juice if you want!
I never liked cranberry sauce until my neighbor gave me a jar full of her homemade sauce! Omg! I look forward to it every year now! I know she puts in the orange juice and also pieces of oranges and it is so good! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
Amazon sells the 3 pack of that funnel in different colors, got the red and white funnel, ladle and lid lifter. Don't know if they still have all the colors still in stock, but I do know the red color is in stock now. The name is Prepworks by Progressive 3-Piece Canning Essentials Kit
beautiful cranberry sauce!....not a fan of orange, but I may try with lemon rind...and probably a bit more sugar and maybe some spice...thanks for the inspiration.
Thanks for this video. I’m glad I found your channel. I’ve been used to making cranberry relish (the cooked kind, not raw) since the late 80’s, but haven’t canned yet. My recipe isn’t really a canning recipe, and is more like a chutney with orange juice, raisins and apples, too. Just no nuts, nor onions. Any tips as to whether or not I can “Water bath Can” my recipe. Thank you in advance.
YAH***** ANOTHER GREAT NEW* CANNING RECIPE , I must .missed this one .I have never made cranberry sauce and I LOVE Cranberries, so THANK YOU for sharing . Only thing is I wonder if I can still find them this late in the season, I want to Cann this ASAP , LOL. Also I want to share a recipe I use in the winter, and on those winter dys. when need a little help when not feeling well I may use the this Recipe as a fixer upper. Another way of making a hot tottie , you can do this the children way, great warned up to sooth the throat, or warm up with Brandy. I add a 1/2 cup Brandy being it is just the hubbs and me, and refrigerate it, then when I want a little sip I warm it a bit so just store it in the fridge. When the KUDS need some I make a separate batch. Plus I make these Beetle Cider ahead a time wrap up and store in a tightly sealed container, so all I have to do later is drip one in a pit when ready to make a batch . I have also given these away wrapped with saran wrap and red ribbon and a note card attached with instructions, on the holidays. Here is the link: www.food.com/recipe/cider-beetles-137885
Man, I want to come live at your house soooooo bad!! You are so much fun to watch and I am inspired to try new things all the time. I hope you and your family have a Very Happy Thanksgiving!
Mmmm I made this for presents, I had to top up with cherries as it didn't make enough and cranberries not cheap in UK, it was so yummy! this is on the list for next year as its all gone already! off to make your onion soup now!
You're my idol. I want to learn to can so bad. Can you recommend any books or online resources for beginners? It's so overwhelming. I'm afraid I will mess up and make someone sick. LOL
+Jessica Herr go to the library!!!! take out every book you can find there. Then, buy The Ball Blue Book for canning. It has every basic must know in it plus simply recipes. It is a must have!!! www.amazon.com/Ball-Preserving-Pickling-Directions-Cookbook/dp/B00Q5T4L4G
great video! beautiful cranberries! I also wanted to ask you Heather...I remember in another video, you had commented on your dealings with anxiety....can you please share about that and how you are dealing with it on a daily basis and what you do to help with those anxious feelings/days? thanks so much!
I'm definitely going to try this! Loved watching Mason taste it! Reminds me of my daughter who is 4. She likes to help me cook and can and one day I will pass on the knowledge to her. Good times! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
I make my cranberry sauce with clemintines instead of orange. Usually it actually is very sweet so we reduce the sugar. And we eat it so often that I can it in quarts.
Orange cranberry relish is my favorite! I used to get it on sale from my local deli for $1.99 on sale, 2.99 regular price. Now, within the last five years, it has increased to $5.99 reg and on sale for $4.99!!!! I CANNOT! Making it homemade is the ONLY way to go. I was always scared of doing it. lol I think reading that the cranberries would burst did that! lol Now, I know it's not hard and yes- the tastiest! mmm mmm mmm Making mine in about an hour or so.
I love dried cranberries. I have never eaten cranberry sauce. No one in my immediate family ate it and that jell roll out of a can looks disgusting 🤢. This looks like it would be good over cream cheese with crackers 😋. Prayers and Love your way 🙏❤.
I just made this for the first time. I found it too sweet and added balsamic vineger. My questions are: how long can I keep it in the fridge ? Can I freeze the finished product ? TNX for your vid
you will find every tome you make a batch, it will taste different. it will always depend on the cranberries. so i always start with a basic recipe and tweak it from there. it will keep in the fridge for a month. i am not sure about freezing because i dont freeze but maybe someone else can chime in who may know?
Orange Cranberry Jam/Sauce
6 bags of fresh cranberries (12 oz packages) rinse and pick out unwanted berries
2 large oranges (zest then squeeze juice out
separately)
Add 4 cups water to pot and 2 cups cranberry or apple juice with pulp then also fresh orange juice from 2 oranges
Add 6 cups sugar
Add 1 TBSP butter to prevent foaming
Bring to a boil then add cranberries. Cook 10-15 minutes until cranberries start popping open.
You can mash them also with a potato masher but leave some whole to add chunky texture.
Taste for sweetness may need to add another cup of sugar if not sweet enough.
Keep simmering to reduce and thicken. Add orange zest once consistency is desired.
Yields 8 pints
Thank you very much!! 🥰🥰

Do you have the onion jam recipe to share? It sounds good.

Then a few years ago I started watching some of her shows and I liked her a lot better. Still way too fancy for me and I don't know how a conserve is different than a compote, but it is very tasty LOL
My favorite!
I want to try cranberry/lime/jalapeno.
I like it all year long also.
Now your talking...lime. jalapeno..
I’ve already made your Christmas Jam and will make this this week! It looks delicious!

+Melissa Wilson absolutely!!!!! let me know if you give it a shot this year! super simple! for every 1 bag, use a cup of water and 1-2 cups of sugar. and of course, replace some of that water with orange juice if you want!
+The Kneady Homesteader...i will thank u so much... happy holidays to you and your family!!
I'm so making this!! Can't wait for fall so I can get the cranberries at the store! Thanks for sharing!!
This is a great idea. I love making cranberry sauce but never thought of making in larger batches to can!
I never liked cranberry sauce until my neighbor gave me a jar full of her homemade sauce! Omg! I look forward to it every year now! I know she puts in the orange juice and also pieces of oranges and it is so good! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
+lisamr40 hahaha isn't that crazy? yeah this does not taste like the stuff that plops out of a can. HAHAHA Happy Thanksgiving, sweet Mama!
looks delicious. where did you find those awesome tools? ladle with little support thing attached and the jar thingy that shows inches in side?
Amazon sells the 3 pack of that funnel in different colors, got the red and white funnel, ladle and lid lifter.
Don't know if they still have all the colors still in stock, but I do know the red color is in stock now.
The name is Prepworks by Progressive 3-Piece Canning Essentials Kit

WOOHOO!!!!! Thanks Donna and ENJOY that sauce! Happy Thanksgiving!!!!
I'm so glad I found this it's great rubes on ham or turkey
I have got to make this, oh my, it looks so very good
Thanks for this video.
YAH*****
ANOTHER GREAT NEW* CANNING RECIPE , I must .missed this one .I have never made cranberry sauce and I LOVE Cranberries, so THANK YOU for sharing .

Oh yes! please do..that would be so helpful , to myself as well as others, I'm sure....thank you so very much!

I also wanted to ask you Heather...I remember in another video, you had commented on your dealings with anxiety....can you please share about that and how you are dealing with it on a daily basis and what you do to help with those anxious feelings/days? thanks so much!

great job! Mason, is too cute!
Looks so so good. My oldest son would love it
I'm definitely going to try this! Loved watching Mason taste it! Reminds me of my daughter who is 4. She likes to help me cook and can and one day I will pass on the knowledge to her. Good times! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
just wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving too you all
Good morning, on the whole cranberry. The only difference is no immersion? My family prefers the whole. Thank you
Yeah don’t immersion blend. Just leave it chunky. 😁
I love cranberry sauce and that looks absolutely delicious:) Thank You for sharing.
I make my cranberry sauce with clemintines instead of orange. Usually it actually is very sweet so we reduce the sugar.
And we eat it so often that I can it in quarts.
that sounds so delicious!
Love watching are to watch how make cranberry juice
That really looks fantastic. Linda made an awesome Raspbenero jam and I would like to place an order for one of your jams and one of hers lol. Yum

Healing prayers for you and your family 🙏🙏🌻🌻❤️
I tried on a small scale not to can, and it is amazing.
WOOHOO!!!! the orange is everything in it! :D
Sending much love and many prayers.
Love this jam I'm making it. I did make cranberry relish similar but so adorable your Son 💙
