- Instead of traveling back in time, what if Trunks found an entirely new way to defeat the androids? Today, we'll be looking at another way Future Trunks could've saved his timeline, by somehow accessing Super Saiyan 4, with the help of Bulma.

I'm guessing what happens next is something along the lines of:
Two beings of immense power are traveling through space in what can be described as a spear of light. The purple stranger could only yawn as this took longer than he had hoped. Closing his eyes, he recalls a dream of a figure burning brighter than the sun with the power of the gods running through his vein's red hair, which looked like roaring flames. He grins excitedly, revealing sharp teeth.
"Super Sayain God..." he speaks to himself.
The blue being leading them to a world far from their home looks back with only his eyes peaked with interest to see that his lord seems energetic about finding this being of a dream. As the pair arrives at the wreck of a planet, the purple cat questions if anything is even alive on this ball of debris, which the light blue one says
"Yes, Lord Beerus, they're far few in numbers. Many have taken residence below the surface of the planet. The people who we are here for still live on the surface as they protec..."
The blue stranger can see the purple cat seems irritated and doesn't care about what happened-coughing to clear the air.
"This way, my lord." the blue stranger guides Beerus to the damaged Briefs residence.
When they arrive, the two new beings spot a blue-haired woman and a purple-haired male talking and tinkering with some machine outside in the back of the damaged large house. They fly down, surprising both Trunks and Bulma. Trunks try to get a read off the two new intruders but cannot seem to sense their ki.
"Their Androids," Trunks thinks, but these look nothing like 17 and 18.
Bulma let out a nervous laugh,
"Hello, who are you two?"
"I am Lord Beerus, and this is my assistant Whis." he jesters his hand to the tall blue man beside him.
"What is it you want?" Trunks ask cautiously.
Beerus stared at the young man in front of him.
"I have traveled all the way across the universe to meet a Super Sayain God."
They explain that they have never heard anything of a Super Sayain God and ask him to leave, which only further annoys the purple cat. Having no other leads and a feeling to give them just a slight nudge to talk. He threatens,
"If you can't produce the God in front of me in the next minute, I will destroy this rubble of a world."
He was charging a purple light in his hand. Trunks can see in his eyes he's earnest and means every word.

Trunks quickly deploy the blood wave machine transforming into the Super Oozaru form (SS4), then charges at this new threat. The change surprises the blue alien
"Look, Beerus, red hair, as you said."
Beerus sighing
"In the dream, it was supposed to be red on the head, not the body Whis. Also, I don't recall seeing a tail." They talked as Beerus was sparing the monkey warrior.
As they 'fought,' his form only disappoints Berrus as he senses no God Ki, it took some machine to bring it out, and once Berrus is done toying with Trunks, he puts actual power into his fists. Only to be beaten after a couple of hits far weaker than Beerus hoped when told a Sayain God was supposed to be his rival-slightly impressed by the power this mortal had and was not dropped by the first of a few "severe" hits. Still, this has been a waste of time for Beerus, and he wants to destroy the planet and move on.
"Looks like that fish will be eating two meals from now on," he mumbled.
In the sky above the Brief's home, the God of destruction gathers energy into his hands again, giving off a chilling purple light spreading to all their surroundings across the city. As Trunks lies beaten on the ground, his mother, rushing over to him, grabs him bringing him closer to her. Trunks mind drifts to his mentor Gohan and his training, how he survived the androids and beaten those monsters. How he protected the Earth from all these new threats, but now he is powerless again, like when he first fought 17 and 18. Knowing the world is now about to end, Bulma hugging Trunks harder, could only apologize to her son
"If only they had the Dragon Balls, then they could ask Shenron to bring that god here.".
With his giant ears, this got Beeru's attention "Dragon balls?" looking towards Whis.
Whis proceeds to look into his staff to see they are Namekian wish-granting orbs. Bulma pleads with the two to allow them to get to Namek. They are working on a ship to travel there. Whis offers another solution using his staff, grabbing Trunks and Bulma.
"You can come down, my lord. We're about to leave."
"Oh, alright."
Beerus stopped the light show to scare the mortals while putting his hand on Whis shoulder. In less than a minute, they were on the new Namekian planet. Bulma is shocked that not only are they still alive, but they are also on the Namek.

"Well, get on it, you two!" the smug cat said to the two mortals with mouths open, looking like fish gasping for air.
Once the two composed themselves, Bulma told Trucks where they were, and they went off immediately. The two gathered the Dragon Balls from the villagers who remembered Bulma from her last visit. She had to use Trunk's emergency capsule vehicle since she didn't have her capsule box on her. While Trunks and Bulma have been carrying the balls, they see the God of Destruction relaxing beside his assistant, enjoying a local fruit snack. Once gathered, they introduce a native to the God of Destruction called Dende. Bulma explains that they must speak their native tongue to bring out the dragon. Beeru's indifference just waves his hand and wants them to bring him his competition.
The white-robed namekian starts speaking. As he stops, the balls begin to glow, which shoots a beam of light bringing forth Porunga. Porunga roars out of the dragon balls, causing the sky to darken, and the wind blows and sends the ocean waters to beat against the shores. The only light emanated from the giant dragon. Trunks could only stare in awe as he had only heard about it from his mother and Gohan. Bulma is still amazed after all these years to see the dragon again and excited to be so close to bringing back everyone they lost. Whis seems indifferent, while Beerus is unimpressed about the overgrown lizard before him.
"You have gathered all seven dragon balls. Now state your wish, for I shall grant you three." He says, looking down to see a nameakian, human, sayain hybrid, and...
Realizing the eyes of destruction are staring not at him but what feels like, through him, the dragon begins to sweat while faintly hearing Bulma asking Dende about bringing the Super Sayain God here. The now scared reptile can only apologize and tells them he cannot bring the first one here.
"Why not?" said the Beerus tossing another seed next to him on a massive pile of once we're fruits he's eaten.
"Well, um, Lord Beerus, you see, it's simply beyond my power..." he said, shaking these may be his last words spoken.
"Useless lizard," he said as he bit into another sweet juicy fruit.
"I'm sorry, but this may help."
He began to tell them about how to create their own Super Sayain God. Once they learn about the ritual requiring multiple Sayains and Whis telling Beerrus there isn't enough of them alive, this infuriates him. Bulma pleads again if Beerus can wait because she plans on using the remaining wishes to bring back everyone, and they will figure out how to get him his god. Beerus allows them only one week. While happy to have bought some time, she's worried a week is nowhere close enough to getting this god form. Bulma uses the remaining wishes to bring back their friends.

Taking a deep breath, a risen man wakes up in the middle of a semi-destroyed city still being rebuilt. Getting up and dusting himself off, wondering how he came back to life, he flies high into the dusk sky. The orange sky blended with his battle-torn orange gi. He focuses on searching for any familiar energy on the planet. He noticed it had been a while since the population increased, sensing everyone below but yet he could not feel Trunks or Bulma. Shockingly while not sensing those two, he does feel the energy of someone he hasn't felt for a long time on the planet not that far away.
Eyes widening, "Piccolo!" Son-Gohan lets out a gasp. He then blasted off as fast as he could toward that direction.

This is what it looked originally liked before all the editing and wanting to add more to the story.
Berrus comes to Earth trying to find the Super Sayain God he dreamt about. When he arrives to wreck of a planet Berrus question if anything even exists on this planet, in which Whiss guides Berrus to the Briefs residence. They question Trunks and Bulma about the Super Sayain God, so they show them the SS4 form which had red hair only to disappoint Berrus. He threatens to destroy the world if they can't produce the God in front of him in the next minute. They don't know who or what that is, which causes Bulma to say "If only they had the Dragon Balls then they could ask Shenron". This get Berrus attention "Dragon balls?", Whiss looks into his staff to see they are Namkain wish granting orbs. Whiss use his staff to travel the new planet bringing Trunks and Bulma. The two gather the Dragon Balls while the God of Destruction relaxes with his assistant. Once gathered they bring forth Porunga. He realizes the eyes of destruction are stareing through him while Bulma asks about the Super Sayain God. The scared dragon tells them everything he know about how to make one. Once they learn about it requiring multiple Sayains, Bulma asks if Beerus can wait because she plans on using the remaining wishes to bring back everyone and they will figure out how to get them his god. Berruss allows them only one week. While happy to have bought time she's worried a week is no where close enough to get this god form. Bulma uses the remaining wishes to bring back Piccolo and Gohan.
Although I'm disappointed at how you severally underpowered ssj4 to the point of it being poultry I'm still impressed with what you wrote there.

I like the idea of Trunks calling it "The Ultimate Saiyan". It's the combination of both of the saiyan forms. After he fights Super Saiyan 2 and 3 Goku/Vegeta, he finds that this form is even stronger than those, falling only to the God Forms.
EDIT: So, this doesn't have him going back in time, so scrap that. Maybe it happens after he dies and goes to Otherworld? He finds Goku and Gohan who have between the two of them pushed Super Saiyan all the way to 3, only to find themselves dwarfed by the power of SS4.
I think trunks still would've gone back in time to prevent goku from catching the heart virus, cause they still don't want everybody to die even if the fight is resolved. This probably would've lead togoku vegeta and gohan getting ssj4, and then they try to train it in the time chamber to master so they can do it at will.
5:40 i like the 3rd one(from left to right) the best, trunks has purple hair so it makes no sense to give him black hair but it maintains the classic red fur.
After gaining access to Super Saiyan 4, Goku didn't have to go through the Oozaru/Great Ape line of transformations to reach it. He could simply just transform into it.
Imagine if fat buu and future trunks became best friends in the future and fought together.

I love seeing Trunks used to some potential. He's always been some side character that seems to just fumble through his accomplishments. He is the son of the smartest Human and the most determined Saiyan. Yet he is none of that. You would think he would at least be an expert strategist being mostly raised by Bulma in her prime and trained by Gohan, one of the most versatile fighters. Versatility and tact should make Trunks one of the most elite fighters, being able to overcome opponents much stronger than him.
Anybody think "Primal Super Saiyan" is a better name than super Saiyan 4? I do

With Trunks constantly training to go Super Saiyan 4 at will, I'd say he used the blutzwaves so much that his body responded by growing a saiyan tail.

Technically ssj4 does not have a multiplier, it brings you to your "prime" or maximum battle power possible. So its basically the same as gohans ultimate form meaning with trunks hybrid potiential he should get a god level boost in power since gohan compared to blue
Golden Great Ape only comes about from a combination of SS and the normal Great Ape. So, one would logically think it's the multiplier of both combined, 500 times, right? Sure, but I've always believed that an additional boost comes from the two forms being combined in the first place. Because the Great Ape side has taken control of the form, that's an additional 10 times, for a 5000 times multiplication.
However, once a Saiyan regains control and forces the form into something more akin to SS, the multiplier changes from an additional 10 times boost to a 50 times boost instead to reflect the SS side taking control of the form, thus leading to a 25,000 times multiplication.
To sum up, it goes like this:
Super Saiyan(50) x Great Ape(10) = Latent Full Saiyan Power(500)

Latent Full Saiyan Power(500) x Great Ape in Control(10) = Golden Great Ape(5000)

Baby then went golden great ape so that would be 500x(if it was normal 10x his hair would probably be white haired ape not golden) that golden great ape baby was about even with ssj4 goku so 400 x 500 you get a boost of 200,000 by basic scaling. But again in the guides it says its not a multiplier it just brings you to your peek so it's basically the same as a potiential unlock Wich is why someone like gohan would get a bigger boost from ssj4 than goku would

This actually made me think of a potential new series. What if Trunks tried to create a team of Z-Fighters for the future timeline? Most of the mainstays are dead, could be a chance to give the survivors and the ones with ambiguous fates a chance in the spotlight and have some fun seeing how weird this team could get.

Next episode beerus wakes up visits trunks and ask him about the ssg but he doesnt know what that is but he says his father, who's dead may have known prince vegeta. Beerus is shock to learn vegeta not only survived Frieza's attack but also started a family on this planet. So trunks shows beerus his ssj4 form to see if that is what he is looking for. Although strong, he didnt stand a chance to beerus in a fight. Beerus commends him on his power and since he is "last" saiyan *cough broly* he even offers for Whis to train him on his planet. With everything at peace and since there would be a goku black in this timeline. Trunks goes off to train to learn how to access god ki and soon unlocks Super Saiyan 4 Blue. No one still wasnt sure if this was the true ssg form they were looking for so whis does some research and finds two things. One a planet called Vampa where a middle age man saiyan and his son were trapped and a small planet called Namek that had dragonballs. Trunks hears this and immediately gets excited because him and his mom were looking for Namek for years but eventually gave up. Trunks says they may not be able to revive everyone but if they bring goku and vegeta back maybe they could help figure something out. (End)

What if time travel worked differently? Like for example instead of how time travel works in the dragon ball series where it goes to another timeline. It instead stays in the same timeline.

shin will want to take trunks to train him to became a kai. Trunks ask shin were the namek is , as he heard from bulma, to try resurect all those who died from the androinds years ago. after a few years of training we will jump to the evil dragons saga and this will be epic.
We also really need to remember something else changed here... Since he never time traveled... Zamasu never had his final straw with mortals, which would include the death of the namekians and their dragon balls. Which could be a good point of interest if King Kai or the supreme kai decided to let him know about it, maybe using the kabito's ability to teleport to new namek.

I just stumbled back into this one realizing I didn’t finish it and it made me think of something what if kid hogan went ssj 4 during the Saiyan saga instead of losing his tail he regains control
The original timeline will not exist since Future Trunks going back in time to create it.
What's important is that you master the first two forms

When me and my friend where doing a DBZ thing, we batted around what 4 would be called if 3 wasn't discovered and Ascended stayed a purely hybrid option (As it was originally)
We came up with the term. "Super Saiyan Primal" given that it was reached through the great ape form which was a largely pure saiyan option (As of 3 known hybrid saiyans only 1 was born with a tail)

This is pretty good but to answer your question about "What about the the other timeline ?", well I think the answer is fairly obvious : There is no other timeline. The timeline with an alive Goku was created when Trunks went back and changed things.

I'm a simple man, I see someone getting SSJ4 I click.
This is the equivalent if getting a super op weapon early game
And was even able to communicate and speak for a moment before ascending
What the hell Adult Bulma has a cute vibe around her
A couple things. First, (personally) of the options, I felt like the red-fur with violet-hair version of Trunks was the most accurate, as all the saiyans in SSJ4 had their natural hair-colour, and red-fur.
Also, mostly I don't have any major issues with the what if so far, (Although I feel like they'd still need to re-grow the tail, and they could do that in a regeneration pod of Bulma's design) and yes, he should be able to enter into the form at will by the Buu saga. So good on you.
As for what next? Training with the Kai's I feel like would be almost certainly automatic. He already has a sword, but he'd be MORE than willing to "trade up" if there is a better sword, so the Elder-Kai release would be pretty quick afterwards.
Without any pressing need, they could definitely take their time and release Trunks' complete Sleeping Power, so ultimate SSJ4? Something... I'm not sure what that'd be like. This would be the main timeline, and honestly, the other Cell wouldn't have ever come from the future, because time travel was never invented. OR you can have them develop time-travel and go back in time afterwards, for whatever reason you choose. But if Cell is there, then Trunks WILL need to go back in time, at some point...
As for anything after that? Not sure... But this is quite humourous so far.
