Most TH-camrs stopped doing these test for this very reason. In my experience I only use summon if its raining and I'm the only car in the lot, so maybe 2x a year. Its simply too risky to use in a more practical way and you end up disrupting others and making Teslas look bad. I still appreciate you testing and showing your results though.
Wheew! I so wanted this to work! Glad it was you doing it and not me…. I do have a lot of success backing out of my garage and I really really appreciate the feature. I can even be seated in the passenger seat and have it back out of the garage for me.
Looks like reversing out of the spot is causing some issues... Too bad you didn't park the car by reversing into the spot.. What version are you running 12.3.6?
My Hummer EV doesn't have FSD or Summon mode but it can park / unpark itself and it actually does a better job. I'm shocked by this because Tesla is so advanced. The Hummer never fails to reverse or pull forward in the parking lot. But, with no FULL self-driving or even an actual summon mode, Tesla, of course, still has the edge. Mine only drives itself on highways (with auto lane changes).
@@MonsterGadgets Do you mean the self-driving (super cruise) on the highway? It works better than I expected. So you first set the speed control and it will leave a good following distance. Then you press a different button to turn on super cruise. A light strip on the steering wheel turns green when it takes over. It stays right in the center of the lane and changes lanes to pass on the left when people are going too slow for your set speed. It's very smooth. I was scared at first, with my hands less than an inch from the steering wheel as it drove. Now I rest my hands in my lap.
So I just picked up a 2024 M/S, and I’m driving on FSD V12.3.6, and my app doesn’t even have smart summon as a feature. So they’re clearly not ready to roll this thing out to anymore owners. Cheers 🥂
I found the amazon fresh that you were at and they have an electric vehicle charger close to the store, so I don’t understand why you’d need to park so far away from the store. (Unless it was recently installed)
Cool! Are you from Naperville? I personally like to park away from everyone to avoid dings. The chargers have been there for some time. Obviously if you have your car plugged in, you can’t do anything unless you unplug it.

that was pretty terrible.... I ordered a Tesla and waiting for delivery, I thought the summon feature would work better than what you have shown... looks like there is still a lot of work to do. thank you for the video
You’re welcome! Hopefully with future updates, it will be useable. Congrats on getting your Tesla, hopefully you don’t have to wait too long for your delivery day!
I tried mine a few days ago and the app kept trying to get the location dialed in. I let it sit and spin for 15 min both times and I ended up not being able to get it to work.
You shouldn't have said sorry to that guy. What a jerk he was. If he backed off and let the car pull out, it might have been okay. Doesn't matter that the car was unoccupied, he wasn't leaving much room for anyone to complete their pull-out. EDIT: 1st guy, I think test number 3, not test 4.
Everyone gets updates to their Tesla 3. Everyone gets Summon. I'm the only one who doesn't have anything, what the hell? I paid $50,000 for my Tesla 3. What a fool I am🤦🏻♂️
You’re using it wrong, half of Tesla’s problems are people using the tech wrong, I think they need better user education. They stated that the current version of summon is supposed to be used if you’re backed in. They will be updating the feature in the near future called “ actually smart summon” which will allow the car to summon and use reverse to back out smh. You TH-camrs need to do research before you embarrass yourself lol. I also recommend testing the feature while you’re in the car so you can take over immediately if it does something stupid. Like this guy did th-cam.com/video/XbghxfAx4SA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=qM5UVruTnLalmO8F
Can you provide reference to what you’re claiming? I’ve never seen that in the release notes or the manual. As for testing it while in the car, that’s not how it’s suppose to be used. I’m trying to provide a real life example/experience of how it would be used.
@@MonsterGadgets I apologize you’re right after I wrote this I went looking for official Tesla documentation stating that it should be used mainly when backed in? I couldn’t find official documentation either. Could be I read it someplace but can’t remember where I read it. At this point I’m not sure if it’s official or not but I do know that Tesla did release a statement about adding reverse which may help summon in these situations.
@datbeasleyboy no problem at all. I appreciate your reply. I will be testing it with backed into the spot this weekend. Let’s see if it’s better or not.
I’m testing it out now for $100 a month. Although The full self driving is very impressive. Not perfect but it is getting better and better every update

I try to show the real world honest reviews. Hopefully this will improve with the revamp coming up soon.
Good try. This was my experience trying to use Summon. FSD and Summon have a long way to go before it's ready for primetime.
Thanks. With time we will hopefully get there
This was my experience with it four years ago 😅
I definitely admire your courage.
Thank you
Good test, provides a good baseline for when the next smart summon update comes out, hopefully within next few months
Thank you! Fingers crossed!

Great vid… thanks for sharing the ups and downs of Tesla summon…… #iLuvMyTessie
My pleasure!
I recommend backing in
I’m gonna have to try that but I personally don’t like backing in due to the camera limitations on sentry mode

@billh3860 eventually it will get to a point where it’s functional
Thank you for NOT simply deleting the "real world" occurrences. Summon needs a little more work IMHO.
My pleasure. Just sharing the truth. Yes, agreed.
It does a better job with summoning usually if you back the car in when you are parked between cars.
Will try that out soon
Well that's not embarrassing 🙈🙈
😬
Does it have bump sensors like garbage trucks that make it near impossible to hit anything while driving?
😂 no
Looks like reversing out of the spot is causing some issues... Too bad you didn't park the car by reversing into the spot.. What version are you running 12.3.6?
Oh I didn’t think of that at that time. Good idea, I’ll have to try that.

How is it on the highway? Dependable with peace of mind?

That’s because yours is HW which isn’t ready yet. I have the same issue on my MX and MS Plaid.
@MonsterGadgets what's HW?
@@caribgenius Hardware. 2024 cars are on Hardware 4, which has no support for summon as of now.

I think you were little apprehensive about the ability of the Tesla summons. Ext time try with no fear
Have you had better results? Just curious

No summon option on my fsd trial....probably a blessing in disguise.🤔
Are you on HW4? If so, it’s not ready for HW4 even if you bought it.
Nope, HW3 on a 2023 M3.
I get the same results. It just freezes.
Hopefully it will get better with the full revamp updates coming up soon.

Unfortunately that’s the reality
Wow, total fail. I've only used it once and it went fine, but I didn't have much confidence. I also backed into my spot, so it was easier for the car.
Definitely not ready for daily use
That’s a total failure…I’d be nervous to even attempt this on my car.
It was. Hopefully with the next few updates, it will be somewhat functional
The car that got blocked in test 3, deserved to be blocked. I can't stand idiots like that who drive across parking spaces like that.
I agree but ultimately had to get through
