- Here we are! Beginning our journey through the second half of season 1 of Young Justice! The first half of the season has certainly had us in a chokehold with all of its lore, character development, action, and more! This show continues to impress me with each passing episode, and as we head into the 2nd half of season 1, I'm curious if we will see more of The Light, and what other story progressions we will come across.
About Young Justice season 1
Season one of Young Justice first aired its pilot on November 26, 2010, and began its episodic run on January 7, 2011. The finale aired on April 21, 2012. It is succeeded by season two, retitled Young Justice: Invasion, which debuted on April 28, 2012.
Thanks for joining me on this journey!

Captain planet was created in the 1990's you are looking at Captain Atom.
Captain Planet isn't even close to being "old school' Most of the characters on this show were created decades before captain planet was even a thought. Including Captain Atom who was created in the 1960s
Though I can't fault him for loving Captain Planet.
Good to see some of ya’ll at least know Captain Planet. I still have the theme song stuck in my head 😅
Captain Planet was always one of my favorites back in the 90's. GOOOOO PLANET!!!✊🏿
Black Adam just cheapshot-ing everyone in this episode will always be hilarious to me. They gave him like no lines & just had him appearing out of nowhere throughout the episode to land one punch & knock someone down multiple times.
Episode 14 might have just become my favorite of season 1 👏🏽 👏🏽 Thanks for watching with me!
same here bro
It's one of fave young justice episodes as well
The Young Justice team have been doing Fate dirty. They promised Nabu that they’d find him a host and don’t appear to have done a thing yet, yet they use the helmet as a backup weapon. Nabu has been prevented from fighting chaos for decades. If they don’t keep their promise, it’s not going to end well.
I worry Nabu is just gonna end up riding shotgun for the team the whole season 😂
Well granted … it hasn’t been that long since the denial episode. So I don’t blame them for not finding a new host immediately especially with what they’ve been going through since then like the stuff with the Reds
I see that a couple of people have already commented that the Heros you saw (but weren't familiar with) were Captain Atom and Plastic Man.
Ohh and Vandal Savage (the man with slashes on his face...is immortal) He is big gun villian...that has been around since the caveman era. (They deep dive in his back story in later seasons).. hopefully u keep watching to find out.
I will say this was a great action episode, im excited for episode 16... that's where things get "interesting" for the team.
I didn’t even recognize him as Vandal Savage?! Now I’m very invested!
He’s the first caveman
Ok so here are some facts about the villains you'll useful or informative. Just for two of them. The leader of the Light the guy with the scars is Vandal Savage. He has immortality and has been around since caveman days. The gorilla who you thought was Gorilla Grodd is Ultrahuminate. He was originally Superman's arch enemy in the comics before Lex Luthor. He has the brain of a mad scientist (male or female depending on origin) inside the body of an enhanced white fur male gorilla
The blue dude with the horns and trident is Blue Devil, btw. Haven't seen anyone tell you yet.
Keep up the amazing content!
I find that every episode of this season is my favorite until one that is coming up that is so near and dear to my heart, and I cannot WAIT until you get there.
In the comics Wotan is a huge sorcerer & Dr. Fate nemesis/villain which is why you even pointed out that Dr. Fate almost couldn’t handle him for a second which the writers were alluding to that. Because he can go toe to toe with Fate & has many times.
First introduction for icon & rocket 👀
I loved getting to see all the cameos from the Justice League. This show is the reason I know who Blue Devil is.
Same here! I also love how the show made him Irish with an accent in a latter season.
14:02 hey Icon! He is equal to superman in strength. He lives in Dakota city where Static Also lives.
Superspeed and reflexes: Icon possesses the ability to think, move, and react at superhuman speeds.
Superhuman stamina: Icon has limitless stamina in all physical activities.
Flight: Icon flies by manipulation of gravitons, manipulation of magnetic fields, and utilizing his superhuman speed. Icon can fly far beyond supersonic speeds.[1]
Superhuman senses: Icon possesses superhuman sight, smell, taste, touch, and hearing.[9]
Enhanced mental perception: Icon possesses the ability to comprehend things on levels far above human capability.
Invulnerability:
Healing factor:
Energy generation: Icon has the ability to generate and control a radiant energy based on positrons. He can manipulate this energy for various effects.
Concussive force bolts: Icon can release positron energy from his hands as bolts of concussive force.
Stun bolts: Icon can project low-energy bolts that render human beings unconscious by disrupting the electrical impulses in their nervous systems.[15] Icon can also use these bolts like an electromagnetic pulse to overload electronic devices.[16]
Energy enhanced punches: Icon can focus positron energy into his fists, which he can then use to shatter virtually any substance.[16]
Energy pulse: Icon can release all of his body's positron energy as a massive omnidirectional pulse of devastating power.[17]
Positron field field
I love this episode! Not just for it being the first major challenge the Team has faced or because we finally get to see the Light but also because it shows us how big the hero world here is. For the record at this time there are only 16 members in the Justice Legue, they were all present at the end of episode 2. This shows us that not all heroes are in the Legue but despite that their all willing to work together against a big threat. So it was great character development and moment to shine from everyone.
The non Legue heroes are. Plasticman (Who you called Mr Fantastic)
The Greenlantern in Star city was Guy Gardener (I love his redesign in the show!)
Blue Devil (The guy with the Flash. He was a stuntman turned into a demon)
And the young flying black girl in Paris is Rocket and the Flying man with her is Icon both aren't from DC comics but Milestone comics. (I'll geek out about them in a latter video)
This episode seriously feels like it has everything! Some of the strongest character development. Action, surprises, reveals, and more!
Young Justice makes so many weird deep cuts, showing us Atomic Skull, Blue Devil, and COUNT VERTIGO??? it's like a breath of fresh air for a character cast
"Another covert mission?".... Yeah, they are ALL covert missions. LOL
Episode 14 is my favorite episode of the series because I love the Joker and I was super happy to see him. Plus this feels like the initial cumulation of the original team's time being together
I wasn’t expecting to see Joker, Aqualad put in the helmet, The Light reveal?! 10/10 episode
Oh, you think other planets hate us? Lets circle back to that later LMAO
Give it another 14 episodes
Yayyyy I’ve been waiting for this. The Light is finally revealed. I think it made sense for the Injustice League to be a bait & switch because there’s no way that all the build up was gonna have them introduced so abruptly like that & in everyone’s faces with Joker hacking the tv channels & making their plan so basic (about money) & revealing everything that quickly would’ve been disappointing, especially since they got beaten at the end of the episode anyways. So the pay off was cool
21:10 from Batman that is the highest compliment you can get. That’s like a gold star an A+.
To explain the villains in the light without spoiling. Lex Luthor & Ra’s Al Ghul have been shown in the episode targets when they made a deal together. The Brain was shown in the animal kingdom episode. Klarion & his demonic anchor cat Teekyl were shown in the denial episode where the team goes to the house of fate. Queen Bee was shown on the screen in the bialya (dc’s fake india) mission episode where they find sphere & where the team forgets everything, but they mention that she never showed up despite them going there because of her when Batman filled them in on her expected appearance. The one in the purple with the big helmet is the Ocean Master, he’s the brother of Aquaman as we saw in the Atlantis episode, or if you’ve seen the Aquaman movie then you’ll be pretty educated on the lore behind him. Lastly the one with the scar on his face is Vandal Savage, he hasn’t been shown yet until now, but he was the one speaking when others were informing to the Light. He was in justice league the animated series & in the arrowverse where he kept coming back to kill Hawkman & Hawkgirl over & over for some reason in the cw’s lore, he was also in the movie Justice League Doom which I would suggest to watch maybe on the channel or outside the channel because it’s a really good movie & I think you’d like it. He’s easily one of the best dc villains of all time imo, he’s so menacing in this series, I can’t wait for you to experience more of him soon.
Bro called Captain Planet a legend. That’s how engulfed he was in the show. Awesome. 😂
This is another one of my favorites! In this one the YJ team was finally going up against real supervillains and they were calling themselves the Injustice League. They actually did well against them too! Meanwhile the JL themselves were handling their giant plants throughout the world. Also Aqualad was almost lost to the helmet of Dr. Fate but thank god Kent managed to persuade Nabu to let him go. Lastly you just saw the light members finally revealing themselves and they are the big masterminds of this whole thing. Now things are REALLY gonna start to heat up from here!
This is where the fun really starts. The rest of the season is a wild ride.
Captain Marvel through the plant piece into the sun, that's not littering.
Everyone thinks Ultrahumanite is Grodd because Ultrahumanite is a pretty obscure character. He is an evil scientist who put his brain in an albino gorilla. In the Young Justice universe comics, they establish that it's a female evil scientist in a male gorilla.
10:40, that's Flash, Blue Devil, and Captain Adam
There is a Young Justice comic where they establish WHY Conner hates monkeys.
The reveal at the end is Vandal Savage, Queen Bee, Ocean Master, Lex Luther, Ras Al Ghul, Klarion the witchboy, the Brain
13:41 That's plastic man! !!! Hes too OP! He HAS and can take down the justice league by himself. He was a criminal as a human batman chased him into a vat. He turned plastic and became a hero. Batman doesn't have a contingency for him- just storage. Freeze him and store him- best place is the phantom zone. But eventually he will get out.
He wouldn’t be able to take down Batman.
@@packedentertainment2866 yes he would. He's plastic. You can't kill him. Batman is a human. All he gotta do is wrap himself around him and smother him.
The Light!
They don't do it often but it's always cool when they bring out the members of the Justice League en masse.
Lex Luthor, The Brain, Klarion the Witchboy, Oceanmaster, Ras Al'Ghul, Queen Bee, and Vandal Savage.
We also know that they've employed Sportsmaster, Cheshire, Black Manta, Kobra, Hugo Strange, all of the ice villains, Doctor Ivo, and The Riddler.
It's "Professor" Ivo. Tweaker couldn't get a PHD if he tried.
@mrshadow4007 I believe the Dr is from a medical degree actually. Disgraced surgeon decides machines are easier to work with, less likely to sue when you accidentally kill them. Something like that.
7:22 so no one every talks about the fact that they killed off three firefighters this episode. Fans say the show got dark in later seasons but they clearly forgot this moment
It was always dark. 2 words, Secret, Harm … I rest my case 🫢
They uh... they are just .... resting. yeah, that's it... they are resting..
Love your reactions.
Ultra-Humanite. Originally a scientist along the lines of Lex Luthor. He first transferred his mind into the body of actress Delores Winters. Later he transferred it to the ape-like body you saws here.
Much love! I love Superboy’s continued “I hate Monkeys” line 😂
@@ThatGuyRye yeah. Very Frieza-like, if you’ve ever watched the dragon ball franchise lol
I know a lot of fans aren't pleased with this version of the Joker. Brent Spiner (Data from Next Gen) voices him and he can be both inane and downright threatening when he needs to be. Loved Mark Hamill from his Star Wars days but never appreciated his Joker in Batman TAS - he was far too cartoon-y. This Joker in YJ at least looks like the classic one from Neil Adams's Batman run of issues.
Best Line: "Always wanted to carve this bird." [while brandishing a blade at Robin]
The hatred of this Joker has very little to do with his appearance.
The writing of his dialogue, and the delivery of said dialogue is... I'll be nice and just say it is not good.
Fun Fact: There actually is an Injustice Society in DC Comics. It turns out that DC's first Super Hero team wasn't the Justice League, it was actually the Justice Society of America, and of course they also had their rival team, the Injustice Society of America.
Glad you like bait and switches because this show has plenty more to come!
Can’t wait!
Having the worst joker of all time is the unfortunate scar on the reputation of this being one of the greatest shows ever.
It’s debatable. I’m always open to new interpretations of Joker, especially since there’s already been so many so far. But I know people debate on if this show’s Joker or suicide squad (Jared Leto)’s Joker is the worst. I personally have never disliked either version. But luckily it doesn’t take away from the series because he’s only in this episode of the season & isn’t in season 2 or 3.
They tried to split the difference between Mark Hamil's Jomer and Heath Ledger's Joker and ended up in the Uncanny Valley
I like the clear similarities between the humor of Robin and the jokes of joker.
Dad is finally here!!! Lets gooo!
Yea yea. Let's go!
ANOTHER ONE!
@ThatGuyRye I was just watching Robin fight compilations 😂
@@dixbowman3452😂😂 He’s the GOAT for a reason
Pay attention to the “B-0” numbers that are called out when members enter the Cave.
To sum things up the zeta tubes have assigned numbers under different categories
League members are just called by the number with each one starting from 8 being the order of who joined up.
The A series are designated for guests
B series is for the Team. There’s a few more as the series goes on but those 3 are the only ones you need for this season
@@BlueBlazeKing yes I didn’t wanna spoil the cool detail of the members and the order they “started” Lol that’s why I didn’t say anything in detail.. I wanted him to put it together
@@BlueBlazeKing you kinda went too far into detail lol now he won’t catch it on his own 🥲🥲
21:41 Thats Vandal Savage. He is like millions years old like the beginning of time. Bad news is if he leaves gotham he weakens and loses his power! So he has to stay in Gotham. He is invulnerable. Can't be killed immortal.
Spoilers
I’ve never heard of that about Gotham. That doesn’t really make sense at all, especially when you think of the season 2 finale’s ending scene from where he was & the season 4 flashbacks with him in Atlantis & elsewhere. So I’m not sure where you got this info from
@@packedentertainment2866 the original comics. Of course they change the storyline and origins alot.
In this universe, he is about 50 thousand years old. He is immortal that can heal from any wound no matter how potentially fatal. Biologically he is a Cro-Magnon early human so he is very strong but not superhuman strong.
new to the channel loving it soo far
Welcome to the watch party!
The blue guy with the trident is Blue Devil, the sliver guy that absorbed the radiation is Captain ATOM (Captain Planet is green, not silver, and NOT a DC character);once again, I implore you, SEE THE FRIGGIN' AQUAMAN MOVIE!!!; The Black hero catching the plane is Icon; "Mister Fantastic" is PLASTIC MAN; The gentleman with the scars is Vandal Savage...a millennia-old immortal.
So much for the league trusting the team to battle the big guns just for them to be beaten easily.
Good foresight at the start of your video
Finally some aquaman!
You seemed kinda disappointed that Kaldur isn’t Dr. Fate for the rest of his life 😭. I’m glad Kent Nelson was nice enough to negotiate his life with Naboo like he did for Wally. Otherwise we were gonna be one member down with no leader
Ever heard of the legion of doom ...
Banger
Captain Atom
Soulless Sam was twisted but Samuel was messed up to keep working with him after this
great video!
my good sir, with all due respect from the bottom of my heart. if you haven't, please go watch Gravity Falls, it is truly the show of all time
(day 2).
18:10 Man the BACKSTORY on them 2! So joker did kill a "robin" Jason Todd. Dont know if this fight is before or after though in timeline. It was batmans biggest failure he couldn't save him.
Grayson is the first Robin. Todd is the second in the comics, so that hasn’t happened yet
@@packedentertainment2866 so he was alluding to what he was going to do in the future.
Just found your chanel and liking it so far! Idk if you've ever seen the superfriends but the injustice leagues base is similar the Legion of Dooms in that cartoon.
Also did episode 13 not get uploaded on youtube ?
It got taken down. I am working on reuploading it
@@ThatGuyRye hate to see it.
Poison Ivy's voice sounds familiar
?
So even amongst diehard fans of this show, no one likes it's Joker. Which is fine Joker has been in tons of other media
11:50 Did you just call the Joker an iconic ... hero???
@@Vigilluminatus He’s simply misunderstood
So many gorilla villains
Superboy- “I hate Monkeys”
I really like you YJ reactions, but I can no longer allow this Aquaman bashing! Serious business, Aquaman is one of the most powerful heroes in the DC universe, just under Superman and Wonder Woman. He's the most powerful Atlantean and you saw what they can do. Control all aquatic life from microbes to blue whales and his telepathy can give Martians seizures. And they didn't even give him the Trident of Poseidon in this show.
I'm going to have to insist you watch and react to the Aquaman movie starring Jason Momoa, DC's only movie that made a billion+ dollars
No, he isn’t 💀
Also that is not dc’s only movie to make billions of dollars at the box office. The dark knight, TDK rises & Joker have all made a billion
