    I got the Playseat Challenge based on your videos and it's working fine once I figured out how to adjust. It took a bunch of futzing to get a working position since I'm 6'4". I had to loosen the side straps to get right steering wheel distance and then move out the pedals to get my knees down. Like you said, the velcro needs some adjustment to feel right.
    I picked it over GT-Lite because I planned to move it up and down stairs but I really don't need to. The only free time is after my family goes to sleep and pedal noise goes through the floors. I set up a tv and xbox in the basement. BTW, short of folding the whole thing up it works to turn out steering wheel and tuck pedals behind to take up a bit less space.
    If I'm still driving come xmas I'll get a fixed setup. Thanks for the reviews. :)

    I bought the playseat challenge but getting some annoying movement in the steering wheel. It’s coming mostly from the swing section that holds the steering wheel (g29). I believe there might be a tiny bit from the steering wheel mount as well but not sure. Mine is new (3 days old).
    Do you have the same issue?
    Thanks!

  • @markp2085

    I have now played in my GT-Lite for about 24 hours. I do not notice any flexing while I am driving. Also, Next Level Racing just came out with the Joystick/hotas attachments, which I will be trying shortly. I have discovered if I remove the pedal attachment before I fold it, the GT-Lite is much easier to fold away. I will be replacing the 2 screws on the clips with large thumb screws to make it easier. It only adds an extra minute for setup time but makes it much easier to fold and move around without the added weight. One of the 2 plastic pieces that attach the pedals to the frame came cracked. Next Level Racing was going to replace it, but I was able to purchase similar clips locally that are metal. I am using a T300 wheel on mine. I suspect, a direct drive wheel with a higher torque would cause a great deal of flexing. Maybe that new wheel base that Fanatec just came out with that has 8NM of torque would probably work just fine. But another issue is if I press the break hard, the front end tends to raise, so a breaking system with a load cell would be out of the question.

    • @bigt43
      @bigt43 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting extra information, I have had a Logitech g29 for a long while but never been able to set it up remotely comfortably with my furniture, it's about time I invest in a sim rig, so where you mentioned if you brake hard the front tends to raise do you mean between the front legs and end of pedal section the mid rises so the pedals tilt away from you? I'm still unsure which I'm more inclined to choose out of these two, but I thing as I have the H pattern shifter with my Logitech the next level racing rig might be my choice, is it possible to put the gear lever mount either side?

    • @markp2085
      @markp2085 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bigt43 That is exactly how the rig will lift up. When I break hard, its the chair itself that lifts right from that center bar where the pedals attach. I image if you use a break pedal with a load cell, that would really be an issue unless you could weigh down the area or maybe bolt the rig to a stand made of boards to it for added stability. With my Thrustmaster T300 pedals, it is not too much of an issue.
      You can move the shifter to either side.
      I have now been using my chair for about a year and am very happy with it. It has held up very well. Takes me about 5 minutes to pull it out, connect everything (including moving my buttkicker from my office chair to the sim chair). I am using a HP Reverb G2 with me GT -Lite, so I don't need to worry about setting a monitor at the right height. Before I started using my G2, I was connecting one of those monitor stands to the front of the desk. That way I could lower the monitor to the proper height of the sim rig (the monitor needed to be about 6 inches lower than my desk).
      I am getting ready to purchase the flight kit for the chair and start playing my Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen from it instead of from my office chair. That should be a game changer. Anyway, if you are thinking of getting it, I say go for it. Much better than connecting your wheel to a desk.

    Really great comparison and exactly what I was looking for! I bought the Playseat Challenge a couple months ago and you hit on all the pluses and minuses of the chair. I wasn't as familiar with the Next Level cockpit and was curious as how it compared.
    Your video confirmed the Playseat was the better option of the two for me since I needed something really small and convenient to fold. While it is a little snug, like you mentioned, it doesn't bother me and worth the compromise.

    The playseat lays back more and is more of like a hammock that allows your back to rest and it feels more like a real cockpit. The gt lite only goes back a little bit and is not curved at the bottom so it can hurt you lumbar spine after a while. The only drawback on the playseat is I wish it came with a shifter mount!

    Hey Karl, bit of a strange question perhaps, but I’ve had a Playseat Challenge for about 6 months, really love it and prefer it over the GT Lite. However, I would definitely prefer the GT Lite pedal deck. Partly because I would like the angle, and partly because mounting my CSL pedals wouldn’t require zip ties =p
    If I managed to find a GTL pedal deck, you see any reason it wouldn’t work nicely with the Playseat?

    Very informative comparisons about the two seats! I'm planning to get one of these and the Playseat Challenge seems more appealing to me as im not that big of a guy and its somewhat smaller than the GT Lite as you mentioned and as it looks like here. The fact that you can fold it more easily than the GT Lite and it seems to be more snug when its folded also a major plus for me as I don't have many places to put it around my room and initially I would rather if I could keep it in my room and not take it out.

      I'm using load cells on my playseat challenge. The seat is sturdy enough but i did have to do a bit of a DIY hard mounting as I didn't trust the strap. TLCM if you're interested

    IMHO the GT has a significant disadvantage compared to the Playseat: if you swing it open to sit in, this seat needs enough space in front of you. But there are chances that you don't have this space because you have some kind of furniture or monitor/TV rack standing too near in front of you, because a lot of people (like me) want the monitor/TV as close as possible to be able to configure a good FOV for racing. I use a Playseat Challenge (Ok, with some substantial modifications and add-ons) and I built a wooden, "U-shaped" rack for my 47'' TV which is only one or two centimeters away from the Playseat's wheel plate. No way to use the GT seat under such circumstances.

    Karl, your reviews and your style are absolutely great! The ones about GT Lite and Playseat Challenge helped me a lot.
    There is only one thing i miss in all the comparisons about the 2 products: the driving positions of the two seem to be different. Could it be, that the viewpoint (the height of the eyes) in the GT Lite is higher than in the Playseat? I am turning in the direction of the Playseat, i allready borrowed one a while ago, it was close to perfect (the headrest is to close for me, if i bought one a would have to bend it backwards to not be in the way of a neutral driving position, i seem to be not alone on this) but a little to low for a neutral view to my TV. Maybe the GT-Lite is better/higher in that perspective.

    • @KarlGosling
      @KarlGosling  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The PS is lower yes mate, you can't really bend anything as it's tubular so will kink.
