    I don't drive for Walmart, but i left the trades to do the exact same job for Walmart. You're absolutely right about the people bad-mouthing Walmart as a place to work the loudest are the ones that have never worked here. My stress level went down, I'm home every night and i don't have to work a ton of OT like i did before. Best move I ever made.

    What are your thoughts on a 5/2 5/3 overnights slip seating every new week? Will be out of Mankato Minnesota.

      @@thomaslander9676 personally I wouldn't want to run nights but I could definitely see the benefit in it. I know a couple of drivers that love that schedule. As far as making money you are getting an extra day off every other week but you'll still do fine even with that extra day off.

    driving around with a mattress strapped to your back. WOW that sounds like a good way to never see your family 👍🏼👍🏼

      I agree that's why I work here at Walmart so I don't have to worry about that. I'm home more than any other driver out there for the most part. 5 days on 5 days off. Not too many companies offer that at least I've never seen it. And I still make $100,000 a year working that schedule.

    My dad truck drove for 23 years working in and out of companies first was sneider then CSX Roberson then rhoel or roel idk.his last was hogan which was local. I wanna go in my dads footsteps but i think your right the stress and being home make it good my dad was gone alot seen him mostly weekends and sometimes not for 2 weeks. You have any pointers to a person with no CDL amd no experience except i drove a few times with him i know very little lol

      @@jonathanbanks4427 If you want to drive and get a good job quickly as possible You start by getting your CDL and getting a few years experience without getting any tickets or accidents in the meanwhile. It's costly so if you don't have several thousand dollars to spare I would suggest going with one of these companies that helps you get your CDL and then you're required to work for them at least a year or so to pay it back. There's several companies out there that do it so I would research which ones and what they're offering. Just off hand I know CR England has a deal like that and I know they do a lot of our Walmart dedicated work. That would be good to do the Walmart dedicated for like one of our grocery dc's. After you get at least 30 months experience you'll qualify to get a job with Walmart and the best part is you've already been doing it all along in this case so that helps big time. You might start by getting online and seeing what they offer and then calling a recruiter. Generally it's pretty easy to find a contact number on their website. Like I always say Walmart's not the only game in town so you might find out there's other things you would like to do. For example fuel hauling is a pretty good gig and most of the time you're home every night. It all depends on how much money you want to make and how much you want to be home. The main thing is you can count on working a lot for a couple of years and getting that experience with not a lot of choices because of the lack of experience. There are other ways of accomplishing the same thing but if you don't know somebody that owns their own truck that's willing to help or something like that what I'm explaining is your most common way to get into a truck driving career. I hope that helps. Let me know how it goes You can always email me if you have any other questions at don@20plustrucking.com

    Does Walmart do teams? I remember I had seen a video some time ago about someone saying something about their team driver and they were wearing Walmart uniform.

    • @20plustrucking
      @20plustrucking  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@robczar2018 The normal Walmart driving job is a regional position for the most part and there's some day cab but we do run teams with our cross country OTR. There's a very small percentage of the people doing that so far. In that particular situation you run teams for 6 days and then you go home for two or three days I can't remember how many days off. I'm guessing the best part of that is you can cross the country easily because Walmart doesn't have to wait on freight very often at all compared to all the other over the road drivers. I think they make like $486 a day kind of like a salary.

      @@20plustrucking How do I find out if the dc near me offers team driving positions? I currently team drive with my dad and we have been team for almost two years already. I would love to move to Walmart but I wanted to remain team with him but just wasn’t sure if Walmart offered it.

    • @20plustrucking
      @20plustrucking  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @robczar2018 there's only a few DC's in the country that offer teams I believe. I only know of Texas but I know there's others. I would call the number that's at the bottom of the website to find out. drive4walmart.com

      @@cwtrucker4963 well yeah lol I have three daughters and a wife there's a lot of drama around the house. Seriously though The concern to keep them safe and make sure they have what they need in life can be stressful and it's not always about money. As a matter of fact it's very seldom about money and more about communication and that can be a hard thing when you're not there 50% of the time. Thank God for technology because that enables me to communicate with them when I'm not there. Back when I first started driving truck there was no technology and I didn't have a cell phone. It was all about a payphone at night before I went to bed. For people that really don't care about their family or it's just all about them I suppose life is a lot easier with less stress. I'm only guessing on that one I've never been there.
