I remember when I had to learn all about the air brakes. I was like a deer staring in the headlights at the end of that lesson. I've been in the industry for almost 15 years now, and have learned about most of the mechanical workings of the truck and the trailer. It's helped me alot when something goes wrong.
Another great vid, exhausted just watching all the hard work you've put in, and congrats on passing the theory. Good luck on the next stage of the test. 🚛🚛🚛🚛🚛🚛
That’s superb another hurdle completed hun, well done you, never stop believing in yourself,I’m so jealous of what you have achieved, absolutely follow your dreams ❤️👍💪😉
Hi Jennifer, love your videos! Congrats on passing the first part of your driver qualifications, made me remember the hurdles I had to get past to get my MTO Equipment Operators Permit when I worked for them. Had to know AZ and BZ as well as the road construction equipment they use. Just down the road from you in Hamilton if you were looking to explore the many interesting places this area, like where they shoot TV and movies, when you have time - give me a shout, done this before for my other guests from across the pond.
@@jenniferwinters They shot the Good Witch series with Catherine Bell here, and a bunch of other stuff, could show you locations if interested (p.s. did some extra acting on some tv shows here several years ago before life intervened) , do you have an email address attached to your youtube channel? What part of Hamilton do you do you road test in? Also, p.s. did an instrumentation contract for a cousin of mine that owns DDR Daves Diesel Repair in Acheson, Alberta, just west of Edmonton, a 10 bay truck and heavy equipment repair (like bull dozers)and overhaul shop, in case your travels find you out west.
Hi Jen,I'm in the UK,amazing content I know you're making big strides and can't wait to make a good living but please make sure you don't burn yourself out good luck with the practical training.❤

Congratulations on passing your theory test. I have every confidence that you will soon be driving a semi and making enough to buy your own place, and enjoy life to the full in Canada. Please keep the videos coming, they are a joy to watch. Take care from Chester UK.😊👍💕
Got trucking Jen loved every minute of the job. But I brought my family over to soon, they were use to me been home every night and after almost 8 months trucking 😢I had leave the job.my wife and girls missed me to much only home for 34hr reset each week all I seen them
From watching all your videos, and especially this one, I notice two of your qualities that will contribute to your success as a professional driver. A positive attitude and respect for the system. Speaking as a retired professional driver with two and a half million miles of accident free driving experience, I can almost guarantee that any trucking company would be proud to have you on the payroll. There were many habits that contributed to my safety history, but I believe one of the most important ones was the ability to anticipate and compensate for other drivers mistakes. Driving in the GTA, you will be surrounded by them every hour of every day. Best of luck in your career. You’ve got this!
thank you my friend, that means a lot, there us something in the pipeline (don't want to reveal any spoilers as these videos are about 3 months behind) and I find the key is mirrors, distance, mirrors and more distance haha People drive like psychos here and you can never be too careful so defensiveness is key, thanks so much for the kind words, means a lot!
Stay with it, you got this! The theory is the hard part, if you drove in the UK you will find the bigger roads here are easier in comparison. I found myself with a D license and pulling stupid oversized loads after a mid life career change and I found the hardest part was getting over the nervousness and self doubt not the actual driving. Hopefully you will get some good mentors. All the best!
totally get that bud, (these videos are a few months behind) and without giving too much away, I haven't had much mentorship unfortunately, its been more 'here are the keys and good luck' but I'm doing well so we'll see how it goes :) haha
Wider roads often mean more room to make turns but that often also means wider vehicles, plenty of which exist on the roads of Canada and the contiguous US. Narrower roads nonetheless are quite common on many other continents, including in much of Afro-Eurasia. There are exceptions including outside the British Isles and Schengen Area.
@@markanderson4895 see I thought in some ways it was just as hard because even though the drive is easier, you have to do inspections backing and coupling as well as driving all on the same day, where as in the UK, backing and coupling is done separately and examined by your trainer lol
The road test for rigid HGVs may not be the hardest in the world but to drive any artic, the test requires coupling and uncoupling and there's a minimum number of hours any new driver will have needed to take before the passing of such a test. Over the years I've watched so many videos of drivers of artics, with those posted by Trucker Josh, based in the South of Manitoba, I've watched more of than probably those posted by any other HGV driver TH-camr.
I can't speak for Canada but trust me if its anything like the truck test i did in the US after years on the roads in the UK and Europe you'll breeze it.I literally got out the truck and thought is that it then??
Loving your video blogs on canada as now i wish id bitten the bullet 30 years ago and moved there as i was sorely tempted but kept hearing stories of truck drivers doing it and moving back to the uk in under 3 months. I have a different question though relating to your previous life lol im just looking at getting out of driving a transporter and doing trade plate i just wondered what company you was with on there as they sounded quite good to you
It's lucky that UK has agreement with Canada 🇨🇦, Ireland didn't and I had to do my car test again 😢I booked a driving lessons just to formiliar myself with the roads and route. And it was a scam the instructor was having with the tester, kept falling me and I had keep booking my car for lesson and road test. Only I went mad and said been driving trucks motorcycles for years this is bs ,I've got a trucking job to start. But need get my provisional learners before trucking company would take me on.then they passed me 😢
Maybe u should of went to a company that takes on uk drivers and they do all the paperwork for u and they put u through your test but u have to stay woth them for a few years thats what i would do if i go over there
The G licence is only your car licence, you need an Ontario G (car) driving licence before you can enrol in trucking school here but the trucks are completely different to the UK so you have to retake the course specifically to drive trucks and get an AZ licence :)
Hello Jen, best of luck to you on your adventures, did you apply for permanent residence right away from UK? How can you come over to Canada 🇨🇦 and work right away. I lived in Alberta for 3 years in 2012 and had to wait for my work permit to arrive, before I could travel and that took 6 months
I think you have a great attitude and will do well here, but one thing, I live here in Ontario also and have been driving trucks all over north America for about 35 years. I don't want to rain on your parade but there are a lot of s..t truck driving schools run by bandits, the first thing a trucking company is going to look at is WHERE YOU WENT for TRUCKING SCHOOL.... you are better off paying a few more dollars and go to a reputable school...best of luck..
Yeah I definitely realised that very quickly and as a I resulted I opted for one of the best trucking schools in Ontario which ended up paying off in the end but you'll see why in later videos!
Rember once out on the road with a transport company!!!! YOU ARE IN TRAINING, NOT MORE THAN 3 HOURS A DAY. AND THE DRIVER TRAINER HAVE TOO SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. MANDATORY BY LAW. IN CANADA AND THE U.S.
You are going to do really great. Driving a truck has been the best decision I ever made.
I am looking forward to following along on your journey.
Really enjoyed that can do attitude! Keep on truckin!
