He himself repeatedly emphasized the fundamental importance of this compositional element; Matheson also characterized Telemann during his lifetime as - a composer of beautiful melodies. In harmony, Telemann penetrated into areas of sound that were then unknown. Zeus, among composers, with 3600 works!
WOW, What a superb performance of this fine (neglected!!) sacred work= Words & Musik by Telemann! Circa 1720. Yet it was performed in Hamburg hundreds of times... carried on through CPE Bach's tenure!! His Godson! Hoechst-selige Musik zum Erwaegen! Perfect for Easter!!
This seems to be the 1763 revision of the original 1722 oratorio with the addition of the chalumeaux and horns. This was premiered in Berlin on 3 April 1763.

So tender. The dance-like meter of the Sinfonia is intoxicating, yet sacred.
IMO almost as good as a Bach's Passion. Beautifully played and perfectly recorded. Thanks!
