    You can select record on the app in live view or playback view and that then creates a media file that plays on most devices.

    Hello. Do you always get the shield showing grey with a cross in it on the screen saying 'All your devices are disarmed'?...even though they aren't! Apparently, the support line I called was telling me this doesn't work on the battery doorbell, only the wired doorbell. It's so confusing when the app is telling me all my devices are disarmed when they are not! lol. :)

      I do not have this issue with mine. :-)

  • @GordieK
    @GordieK 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I have had this for a month now ..and I am sending it back ..the notifications suffer from latency very badly …. Pressing the bell also suffers from the same issue. It’s slightly quicker when you are connected to your home network but when you are out with , say, 4g connectivity it often misses the caller .. seen so many people walking away from the door by the time I have answered it … in practice in a months use it’s not good enough..

    • @RussellPlatten
      @RussellPlatten  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It sounds like the chime does not have a strong connection with the camera or router Gordon. :-)

    • @GordieK
      @GordieK 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RussellPlatten normally I would agree but the doorbell is within 8 foot of the router and the chime is next to that… I had someone ring the bell today and I sat waiting for the ring to appear on my phone … it never did …. I then went on the app and it said someone had pressed the bell but it was missed…. I have had ring doorbells in the past and never seen this kind of latency with them. I recall a Paul Hibert video talking about the outdoor camera and he pointed out the latency was an issue compared to others … currently researching the battery doorbell market but they all have their issues it seems …

    • @GordieK
      @GordieK 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RussellPlatten just to update you I have had a detailed look at the specification on placement as per the manual and the doorbell chime is within the 4m with only the door between it and the chime .the chime is about 2m away from the router …. Whilst it may well be a network issue in that sense what it tells me is that the network kit inside the doorbell and chime simply isn’t good enough …

    • @RussellPlatten
      @RussellPlatten  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GordieK Thanks for the update. My bell is two metres away from the chime and the chime is around 5m away from a WiFi repeater through a brick wall. The app shows a weak connection, but the bell works reasonably well. You can see the lag on the video when I am filming outside. I have mixed feelings about the bell. :-)

    What's not stopping someone ripping the door bell off the bracket ? Unlike the ring bell what's got a screw holding it in
    I had the ring took it back as it kept going off when buses when by kept getting annoying and ring customer service was like drop your zone down had it at mine and still doing same
    Wonder how they would get on? The lack of screw in bell and base putting me off

    • @RussellPlatten
      @RussellPlatten  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The dorbell has a tamper alarm, but nothing in the instructions on how it works. The base can be screwed into a frame or wall, but the bell just needs a pin to remove it. :-)

    Hi Russel great video explaining this Wi-Fi door bell. after years of a very cheap system I was looking at up grading to something 2K, it is a mine field of different makes that look like they all have very similar programming, I didn't intend to pay for cloud access no matter how cheap it was, but am thinking of going with an SD card route for recording, I was wondering if you have tried removing the card from the unit and trying to read it via a PC running windows I have 11pro, Thanks

    • @RussellPlatten
      @RussellPlatten  ปีที่แล้ว

      All files are listed as .MP4 on the microSD card, but no windows player will play them. The files are unsupported or corrupt according to the Windows 11 software (Movies & TV, Media Player). I can get some of the clips to play on VLC Media Player, but a lot of them will not play - very strange! The card is easy to access and the videos are reasonably secure as the card is in the receiver which is inside the house. All of the videos play on the app and you can record the video clips directly from the receiver onto the phone. I haven't tried to send phone recordings to my PC to see what they are like. I suspect that they would be fine. :-)

      I have had a play with it Russ and it is not reliable. I installed the Ezviz skill on Alexa and all Amazon devices informed us when the bell was pressed. I could not get it to show the video or give an option to talk via my Echo Show which I think is the 8. It is the one with the large screen (got it for Christmas last year). I can ask it to show live video and that works. I think the app and software needs a good dose of looking at and you may have issues with it. I am no longer getting notifications on my phone or tablet and notifications are enabled. I have had numerous issues with it, all down to software! :-)

    Thanks for the great demonstration of this product. My only concern is the removal and how easy it is to do this with just a pin. Anyone can steal this, instead of having a screw with a different bespoke head that needs a screwdriver to match.

      Put a bolt through the door at the bottom of the unit to block access to the hole.
      I have just fitted one and I agree the instructions are pathetic. Had to Email their customer support three times to get instructions on setting up the doorbell with the repeater and clarification on how to access the PC software and how to get the doorbell to work with that. Then it wouldn't connect to the WiFi even though on one hand it was saying the signal was good then telling me it was weak. At one point the signal was so strong when I switched WiFi on my tablet it connected to the ENVIZ signal instead of my router !
      It's like a lot of Chinese designed stuff - a bit glitchy and a mix of good and bad design topped off with lousy instructions which turn what should be a simple job into one which is far more complex.

    Hello Russell
    I can see from the comments that prove the instructions are absolutely abysmal
    I bought the same model and had exactly the same problems with fitting ( and I’m a computer engineer! ) there are some latency problems but the PIR picks up the image quite quickly…as for security ,as you say, the record is kept in the chime on SD ..you would have to be a contortionist to avoid the camera with a 170 degree field. I’m totally with your review…the instructions are lousy to say the least … even the instructions off their web page are totally useless…on a better note you beat me by 3 hours to get the damn thing working correctly ..good review though …nearly Luddite friendly!😅

      Thanks Paul. I am happy with mine and it has been fine since I posted the review. I do wish manufacturers would write reviews with the thought that many customers do not have any technical knowledge. They assume way too much! A set of instructions should be written in logical steps that are easy to understand with photos or diagrams to assist the reader. Most instructions now are a series of diagrams that need to be deciphered forensically with a magnifying glass!! LOL
