Oh my god your physiotherapist seems like such a relaxed and knowledgeable person, and she's gorgeous too! Thanks for inspiring me to get moving after my surgery, and start trusting my body again ❤️🌹
You are an absolute inspiration. It's so nice to see someone doing a fitness post who isn't like "I'm chisled with muscles and have 2% body fat. Do what I do". It's motivational for us normal folk to see such a beauty show us form :-*
Hannah; thank you so much for this video. I had a myomectomy almost two years ago now and haven’t had the nerve to really work in my core to strengthen it again, but this and your 5k series has inspired me to get back to my fitness level. This video in particular is helpful as a professional is helping you so I know am going to be doing the right things. Thanks so much again, you are the best xoxo
I can only imagine how through this whole process it was probably so hard to confront things that used to be easy now being much much harder. I admire your self love Hannah. Keep killing it
This was actually super useful! When I was a young child I used to be quite sporty, I used to swim a lot, do lots of cycling, I played hockey, netball and rounders in teams, and so was very fit, but this was all the sport/excersise I did, and I was strong because of it... I gave it all up about five/six years ago with my mum becoming ill, stuff at home and being so busy with the shed load of work I started getting, so I stopped all my sport and gained a lot of weight. But I decided enough was enough a little while back, and the past year I've lost almost 3 stone in weight through changing my diet and being much much healthier, and I feel so much happier, but now I'm pretty convinced I have almost no muscle on me at all anymore. For about a month now I've been trying to work out a little each day, but as I've never had to 'work out' before as the sport when I was young did that job for me, I'm absolutely clueless! So these excersises, and expecially the tips that were given on how to do them RIGHT (😂), and how being consistent and building up repsis going to be so so useful, so I'm v greatful! So thanks very much, a fab video Hannah, and if you haven't done the 5k yet I wish you the best of luck!!! X
I absolutely love this video - its so refreshing to see someone who isn't claiming to be the best at every exercise and is in the position of the people watching fitness videos, wanting to improve. Also, I really really really love the "this is kinda funny" attitude you have. I can't exercise without crying laughing and it's just an informative video anyway. I'll definitely be using this! Thank you so much! x
These are many of the exercises I've been doing since I broke my hip as a teen - great to see them here! And inspiration to kick my arse back into them... ^^;
I love how some of these exercises are familiar to me due to going to physical therapy years ago for scoliosis. My core strength's pretty OK thanks to being a dancer and having to exercise that part all the time, but my back is very weak, and some of these exercise actually help!
This just reminds me of my years of physical therapy lol. Honestly though, exercises like these are lifesavers when it comes to recovering from surgery.
Thank you both so much for sharing this with us! I've often struggled with physio exercises cause I couldn't imagine what my body is supposed to be doing, and whilst pictures are helpful seeing someone doing it was great. Super helpful and informative! Good luck Hannah on the 5k!
Love this! I'm 100 per cent gonna try these exercises out as I've been wanting to start running again but I need to do work on my leg muscles. At the moment I do trampolining which isn't great for your knees and after only 2 weeks of not doing I found that my knees were hurting for a few days after. I've also had operations on my legs, most recently on my right knee and though that was almost three years ago I never did my physio properly (which you should never do, always do your exercises!) and that may have affected my knee strength, oops. Anyway, this has inspired me so much to start doing little exercises every day and hopefully be able to run for longer and be a bit stronger!! ❤️💪
I’m loving these videos hannah and actually gonna use this video to help me. I’m three years post scoliosis spinal surgery and no where near as fit as I need to be. I really have to work on my core particularly and this video and the exercises is exactly what I needed so thanks
I love this series. I miss running so much but I hurt my hip running a while back. Every single time I try to run again, no matter how slow I take it, it starts hurting again. Been to physios, had PTs train me...i think my hip is just done 😂 I go to the gym regularly but I need a good physical challenge again though. Maybe time for me to get back to swimming again. Good luck with the 5k. ❤️
This is such great and relateable video. I'm just trying to improve all of my body at the moment and this has spurred me on to keep going. Love your videos!!!!
Great! Love your enthusiasm :D I'm not recovering from surgery but made a list of these exercises nonetheless to do a couple of times a week because my muscles can definitely use some exercise! And congrats on the running, you're such an inspiration. X
Very cool! My physiotherapist has given me many of the same exercises. I got a concussion 5 months ago; terrible balance seems to be one of my more persistent symptoms, so improving my core strength has been an important part of my treatment.
Questions about pain-I immediately feel pain in my abdominal adhesions any time I do core exercise. How much can you push through that without causing damage. (I am several years post surgery so the healing process is complete no worries there.)
hannah, you inspired me to go for my first run in a while (combination of v busy uni term and a sprained ankle a few weeks in) and i managed to run for the whole half hour that i wanted to! definitely not as fast as i was when i'd been running more regularly, but i was pleased with the result nonetheless! good luck for your 5k run!!!
Seconded on you having the perfect shape for weightlifting, really nice form on the squats! Lifting collab with Melanie Murphy would be cool? P.s. Ski sits (exercise 10) are disgusting. Remember doing them when using a personal trainer. Just torture.
I'm glad to have found this video! 9th of July this year I had a midline laparotomy to fix a twisted bowel. 13 weeks on and I still feel like I'm lacking in core strength... What frustrates me is in June this year, I did a 200km bicycle ride without any difficulty, now I'm struggling to do more than 50km :-( But I guess it's still early days yet...
Thank you for showing these exercises! I've been wondering what I could do, but all my doctors have recommended so far is walking. This helps a lot! :)
It's been a slow road to recovery for you. First time I was rushed in for emergency surgery which left me with a stoma. I was off work for 3 months so I know how you feel, I have since had it reversed and I am back to work in 7 weeks.
These are really nice and basically the exercises my physiotherapist let me do to build up my core in order to be able to work my arm and shoulder muscles (I had off-and-on inflammation in my shoulder joint). Need to pick it up again though!
I love Joy!! She's got me thinking--maybe I want to be a PT.... hm lots to ponder! Also, I had belly button surgery at age 3 and then was never told any exercises to recover--I wonder if that's why my core is still so weak? I'm going to start doing these exercises!
My gym teachers in school would make us do #10, it's brutal but quite fun, especially when you start to see the progress i.e. being able to hold the position for longer. They would challenge us to try to hold it for 2 minutes.
Some constructive criticism: Focus was in the background through out the entire video (at least when doing the exercises, except the last one... where it unfortunately lost focus again after a few seconds). Next time, use *manual focus* on the camera and set it up beforehand to where you're going to be. Use someone else or some item and have them be at that place and just focus on them.
Idky but I always get a kick out british ppl saying the word bum. Some of these are the same exercises my own PT gave me, so it's really fun to learn others that work as well^^ Also wall sits were the worst part of core day back during high school lacrosse for me lol
Actually it's not necessarily bad to bring your knees forward while squatting. The misconception with not bringing your knees forward has to do with early researches primarily looking at forces in the knee joints and taking forces in other joints, like the hip joint, less into consideration. As shown in this ("www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/14636100") study, the hip torque is far greater when performing the squat while restricting knee movement compared to knee torque while doing an unrestricted squat. I guess it depends on whether or not you use any extra weight, and if how much extra weight, when performing the squat. But great video anyways! :)
Oh my god your physiotherapist seems like such a relaxed and knowledgeable person, and she's gorgeous too!
Thanks for inspiring me to get moving after my surgery, and start trusting my body again ❤️🌹
Aww thanks 😘
Ahhh really enjoyed making this. Absolutely loved it Hannah! 💖
Are you Hannah's physio or did you just agree to collab for this video?
Hannah Witton: Fitness Vlogger. 💪
Joy, you were great at LSY Live. Hope to see you again sometime.
Thanks Andy! It won't be long I promise 😍
Super healthy exercises! Congrats.
You could do a 5k running, but you could also be a good weightlifter or powerlifter IMHO, Hannah.
I don't think I could run a 5K if someone was chasing me let alone after surgery! VERY impressed Hannah!
Core strength is not the same as a six pack...
Well I've got neither so that's fun😂
You are an absolute inspiration. It's so nice to see someone doing a fitness post who isn't like "I'm chisled with muscles and have 2% body fat. Do what I do". It's motivational for us normal folk to see such a beauty show us form :-*
This series has inspired me to start couch to 5k! Thank you so much for the inspiration
It’s such a great programme! Best of luck!
Same!

I love her hair!
At 6:12 is anyone who's had to do all this in P,T including myself. This is a great video! Well done!
I just finished my last semester exam (for PT school) and come home to this!!! LOVE IT, great job Hannah and Joy!
These are many of the exercises I've been doing since I broke my hip as a teen - great to see them here! And inspiration to kick my arse back into them... ^^;

That title is a mood! I have posture issues and doing yoga has really been helping me with my core strength
as a fellow physio , i was even more excited to watch this video! You can do this Hannah!
This just reminds me of my years of physical therapy lol. Honestly though, exercises like these are lifesavers when it comes to recovering from surgery.

Joy has such a lovely energy and I'd totally be put at ease by her. You also did so great!
Great! Love your enthusiasm :D I'm not recovering from surgery but made a list of these exercises nonetheless to do a couple of times a week because my muscles can definitely use some exercise! And congrats on the running, you're such an inspiration. X
This was fantastic! I loved seeing this part of your journey and the input from the professional.

Loving your Surgery to 5K series Hannah! So informative and inspiring! :)
I love this, I'm going to try to these exercises! It's great because you can do them at home.

This was FAB. I'm gonna come back to this
Great stuff Hannah, I need to do some of these exercises even though I have not had an operation, nor intend to run 5k (or any K actually), Cheers
this is literally so well timed!!! thank you hannah
I feel like I learn something new every video.
It's been a slow road to recovery for you. First time I was rushed in for emergency surgery which left me with a stoma. I was off work for 3 months so I know how you feel, I have since had it reversed and I am back to work in 7 weeks.
Ahhhhh two of my fav youtubers!! This is so awesome!

👌👌👌👌👌👌👌....all exercise was too tough for me...but you will do it..keep doing👍👍👍👍👍
This will be useful for my dance practice. Thank you so much for doing this.
Great video, very inspirational.
You look like at some time you studied ballet, you have great and graceful poise.
My gym teachers in school would make us do #10, it's brutal but quite fun, especially when you start to see the progress i.e. being able to hold the position for longer. They would challenge us to try to hold it for 2 minutes.
How funny I just started doing core workouts two days ago and then here this Is

As a physio, I LOVE this
Completely out of topic, but Joy is so gorgeous I'm dying. Also I really want her hair :O
I could never work out how lunges were supposed to be exercise. Turns out i was doing it totally wrong and i can feel it working now!
I'm super curious on sports bras you're using while you run
It looked like Panache to me
Idky but I always get a kick out british ppl saying the word bum. Some of these are the same exercises my own PT gave me, so it's really fun to learn others that work as well^^
Also wall sits were the worst part of core day back during high school lacrosse for me lol
Ooh, Joy has such a lot of hair!
8:49 Did you do something different for your sound? You're so much louder here, Hannah.
We used my phone as a microphone so it was just in a different position probably
You are looking superb Hannah 😊😊
I need to get back into lifting and get back into the gym. I miss it but I’m currently 30 weeks pregnant and have zero energy to do anything. 😖
the question is hannah have you done the 5k yet??
THIS Saturday!!
Hannah Witton good luck!!🍀
well done hannah!
Hi I saw you on the gaming show and you seem really good at gaming good job
I have a question: when people say 'engage one's core' what exactly one is supposed to do?
Contract the muscle.
Actually it's not necessarily bad to bring your knees forward while squatting. The misconception with not bringing your knees forward has to do with early researches primarily looking at forces in the knee joints and taking forces in other joints, like the hip joint, less into consideration.

Love from India ❤
Well. not sure i I've been doing lunges wrong for a year or just a variant. Interesting...
And oh man, weighted wall sits/wall squats are the devil.
I may be able to do some of these if I get a hydraulic exoskeleton... 🤔
Is Physiotherapist the same as Physical Therapist?
Yes Emily! 🙋🏿♀️
One is technical that describes how the body works (a person who helps you know how the body works) and one is just a plain physical focus.
And here I am, shovelling macaroni cheese into my face while watching...
