Diagnosed with Crohns in the 90s and super unwell - kidney complications, liver issues, you name it! Ran the London Marathon in 2012. You can do ANYTHING 👍🏻
You're now a week before the 5K, hope everything is like you want it to be and that you're enjoy your progress ! Go go go girl !
(I'm all cheer up but if you don't succeed, it's ok too. It's just a matter of time)
You're doing amazingly. I believe in you Hannah! (Also, don't deny your identity as kaleidoscope haired - twist in the light and it's a completely different colour).
As a Registered Nurse working in a hospital endoscopy department, I just want to say how incredibly brave you are for sharing your story. Way to go Hannah, you are a HERO
After seeing and seeing what you have been going through this year it might just inspire to start running fully again.
"i'm not actually doing it but maybe I should" 😂dying.
I did Couch to 5k a few years ago.. I never completed it but it started a fitness journey that never stopped. Now 5k is easy for me and I exercise all the time. Good for you Hannah! You're doing great.
First, congrats on your progress! Second, you mentioned your "core" several times and I was wondering what your muscles structure is like in your abdomen now that you've had the stoma. Could you shed some light on this for me?
I've asked multiple times about the void removing all those bowels must have left, but i'm still waiting for an answer.
Love this series! Weirdly enough, watching youtubers get fit makes me want to get fit
yeah i can understand that but yeah the problem is while its not fake they do end up editing a lot of the hardwork they have to go through and dont show how tough it can be and how much work they really needed to put into it.
These videos have inspired me to start my own Couch to 5K and I did my first run this morning, bloody exhausted but excited to show myself I can do this :) Thank you Hannah!!
So proud of you! you inspire me to start exercising on a regular basis. I deal with a chronic illness and my fitness level significantly decreased in the last few years, so I can definitely relate to what you're going through
That’s great that you are not letting the surgeries to stop you from running the 5k. I wish you the best and happy to see you back on your feet and I hope you reach your goals. You are a true inspiration.
I definitely believe you can do this before Christmas! I used the same app to go from struggling to run one mile to running my first half marathon. Granted, I was not recovering from surgery, but I believe in that app and i believe in you. You've got this!
So excited for you! You're almost to your goal date! YOU CAN DO IT!!!! I had to stop running from an unknown gut illness a few months ago. I had a half marathon paid for and half-trained for at that point. I tried so hard to keep it up, but there's a certain point you have to stop. Scopes were done today and we're waiting on results! Speculative guesses say possibly Crohns or Colitis. Honestly, can't wait for a diagnosis so I can start working towards feel well again. AND RUN AGAIN!
Hi Hannah, I just wanted to reach out and thank you for posting these videos! I have a complex relationship with exercise, I had a lot of health problems growing up and had to miss a lot of PE. I've had two surgeries on my spine in the last few years and I've found exercise really hard. But watching this has inspired me so much! Today I thought sod it, if you can do it so can I, it doesn't have to be fast or perfect. So I downloaded the couch to 5 k and went for a run and oh my goodness it felt so good. I really enjoyed it. So thanks again!
Don’t know if you’ve thought or heard about it - but Aquajogging is also a great training alternative!
I have bad hips (at 25...) and Aquajogging is great to still train muscles and form, while being low-impact for..almost everything 😂
Yay! I finished the couch to 5k a month or so ago but I continue to use the week 9 run because I like the time markers without having to check my watch. Also because of the way Michael Johnson tells me I can definitely do this. Hope it's still going well for you!
CONGRATULATIONS Hannah! One step at a time never looked so fast!
You've got this Hannah!! I'm rooting for you from across the pond!
I totally agree with the 'ugh I don't want to' and then you work out and it's like "Oh I love this!"
Anyway, you are an inspiration. Hope you have an amazing week!
I know I'm late to this video - but you can do it Hannah! I started couch to 5k in the summer last year, did a 10k in March of this year and am currently training for a half marathon in March 2019. My progress has been waylaid a bit by my boyfriend moving in with me (yay) which meant I was super busy, and then getting ill - but I am still definitely doing it! You will feel so good when you run 5k for the first time. Congrats on your progress so far :)
You got this! Watching this series has definitely motivated me to start working out at least a bit. I’ve tried before but it was a fail, but I think I just expect too much too fast, so maybe I need to try working my way up. I’m so excited to see your progress! 💛
Hannah, your determination means you're sure to succeed. When is your goal going to be 10k? Marathon? YOU CAN DO IT!
i think she can do it but what concerns me is that i feel like she is giving borderline false inspieration to others. obviously not on puprose or knowingly but its something i think is going to happen. she is making it seem easy(even if we all know its been tough for her and its not easy as it looks) but i mean so many people may see this and think oh well if hannah can do it so can i. and i just am worried many people will try to run or get fit and give up when they cant or dont see the same instant results hannah has edited that she got i am not saying the results are fake or even edited i am saying how she got there is well obviously edited and does not give the full picture and this is not to bash hannah its to point out this is the nature of well being a youtuber.
@@thewewguy8t88 my wife underwent almost identical problems, many years ago now (colostomy and subsequent adhesions). The path to recovery was long, and the psychological hurdles were perhaps greater than the physical ones. What I admire is Hannah's determination to tackle both. I was going to say I admire her guts, but her guts were the source of her troubles!
@@norfilmshetland well for me it was more the physical hurdles i had to overcome but even so your wifes joruney was not edited to 20 min.
I've watched hannah for a while and she is really awesome , yet when I read ur comments I felt like I wanna ask what's all about "guts" "my wife" """" could any one just explain what's the problem💛
@@tareqabuhalima8052 Tareq, Hannah had, if I remember correctly "ulcerative colitis" - ulcers in the colon, or large intestine. These had to be removed, and as a result she has to get rid of the solid matter through a hole at the front of her body into a special bag. There is a video where she describes it. (It is difficult to describe without using common, vulgar, language). The colon is very thin (a sausage uses the colon of an animal as its skin), and it is difficult to join back together. After a time, 'adhesions' can develop, causing another blockage, and another emergency operation. Very serious, very painful. Although not exactly the same, my late wife had very similar experiences. Hannah is a very brave, very determined girl. Such surgery is devastating and I admire her courage in getting on with her life and speaking openly about it. Watch the video!
Your enthusiasm reminds me of how much I used to love running, and how much I want to get back into it.
Congrats, that's amazing progress! You probably don't remember, but when you posted your video about your #2018HomeStretch goals, I commented that I'm also trying to run 5km by the end of the year, with no walking breaks. I have been running fairly consistently since then, and today I managed to do three of four laps of my park without taking a break! The four laps plus a little stretch at the end add up to 5km, and I'm super proud of myself, I really wasn't sure if I was going to get in enough training to be able to do it but I'm almost there!! Keep up the awesome work, you're an incredible person to be able to do this! ♥♥
Your crushing it Hannah! I'm loving this series. And I can totally relate on the blonde situation.
I'm just finishing week 6 now, it feels like I'm past the worst of it (weeks 4 and 5 were hell on earth). I think doing Couch to 5k was probably the best decision I made this year, it's great to see it reaching so far and wide!
I have never related to anything more in my life than Hannah about her hair colour
it's so good to hear the couch to 5k have an app! i've always looked at and gone how am i supposed to judge when to run/walk without a watch. maybe when canada stops being the arctic i'll give this a go!
So totally understand when you said that you’ve never been on the couch, you’ve just run 5km... that was always me! But now I’ve badly injured my back, & I so desperately want to run again, I loved it so much! But every time I’ve decided that I’m going to try and run again, I end up making my back injury even worse 😒
WOW, you're so inspiring. To see you push your limits after 2 surgery is magnificent. you are so beautiful and radiant with energy. You have all the strength and do not give up. I experienced a concussion 2 years ago and when I see you, you motivate me a lot to push my limits too and take my life back to normal.
this beautiful energy makes you very attractive and it's fantastic. I love wath you are doing and appreciate that you share it with us. This is make you soo special.
WOW
WHERE IS YOUR INDUSTRIAL SPORTS BRA FROM I NEED IT OMG
I went running for 9 Weeks, twice a week, and wasn't able to run for 10 minutes straight. You are such a godess girl.
You're doing amazingly!
Making the effort alone counts a lot even if you don’t make it you’re on the right path
I‘M SO PROUD OF YOU, HANNAH!
The Galloway method (run walk). To get better you need rest and training. Both are important.
YOU CAN DO IT!!!!
That is actually really good way to build up your endurance with the running and walking interchangeably
Nice video Hannah! I'm rooting for you and your goal of 5K before Christmas. You can do it. Enjoy your weekend
You're doing great, Hannah! you can do it, girl!
IM SO PROUD OF YOU ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Ain’t got no tears left to cry now.
Hey Hannah, the c25k is really good. I got up to like week 6 but then had a injury, so had to stop.
Good luck
Congrats on your progress Hannah ! You’re such an inspiration ❤️ Also, you look like a blonde to me but sometimes your hair looks super ginger!
Keep up the good work! Had similar surgery, but don't feel like running yet. Instead, I'm swimming :) What support belt do you use (and how did you get it??)? I should find one...
i'm so proud of you!!
Congratulations on you running trying your best 🏃♀️🥳
Just to say I think you’re amazing but I guess people tell u all the time 😁 I too started that running/exercise journey after coming off some body- and mind-crippling meds last summer and I can relate so so much. I still take A LOT of medication compared to a “normal person“ so I had/have to be really careful when it comes down to high intensity running and exercises, but also what I’ve found with running the same distance/route it REALLY depends on so many things whether I can have a ”successful run“ - literally SO many factors play into it for me, from the meals I have leading up to the run, to which day I’m at in regards to my menstrual cycle.. whether I have had too much sugar, not enough protein, the wrong type of music or no music at all.. whether I feel there are people watching, dogs coming my way (I’m scared of dogs), the weather, the temperature, or if I started off too fast, all these things, and I’ve found the best way to manage, really, is to go BODY OVER MIND sometimes because it REALLY doesn’t make a difference if I have to stop and walk for a while in order to catch my breath even though I did the same damn distance without slowing down the week before. Every day is different and 5K is still 5K, whether it takes me 35mins or an hour. U can push urself and feel good about your run without listening to those pros who tell u to try harder because apparently ur body tries to trick u because it tries to save energy (we’re inherently lazy) and u need to overwrite any urge to decelerate bla bla bla.. in my opinion NO u can still LISTEN to ur body AND MEET the criteria for a healthier, more active lifestyle. I’m not a machine 🤷🏼♀️
Your doing great on your progress keep it up and you’ll crush your goal
You're such an inspiration to me. I've also had a really bad Crohns Disease flare this year as well as Endometriosis and honestly getting back into exercise seems like my last priority. I just downloaded the app as well so going to set myself the goal of trying this also. Not sure how the week things will work with my painful days as I am still in mid-flare up but going to see if I can do this!! Also, what is the compression belt for your stoma? Or can you sue them for other things as sometimes when I run I find the stitch I get with my Crohns can be so uncomfortable! xxxx Thanks so much
you've got this you're stronger than you know
I am honestly so impressed and proud. I've always been a kinda sportsy person (I say kinda because I used to do quite a lot of dance, like ballet and jazz) but running is something I can't do. I was pretty good at sprinting, but endurance, definitely no (and it meant that even with dancing it was hard). After 2 minutes I honestly feel like I'm going to die. Growing up I had so many doctors' check ups to try and see what was wrong, but it never showed a thing. I did get excused from running in PE though (one year we had to run for 30 minutes, I would have rather died). But still, it bothers me. I can't run on a treadmill either. My heart rate just speeds up like crazy, I suddenly cannot breathe, have the taste blood in my mouth, just lovely (and no, it's not asthma either). And on top of that, I have shins that tense really quickly and knee problems. So going uphill (even for a walk) is painful. But on a flat surface, I can walk for HOURS. Which is a good thing, cause I'm a tour guide, and I spend my whole days walking.
one of my goals for 2019 to be a part of a marathon, but i have no idea how to get there coz I hate running. I love gym exercises or anyother ones that is in one place, running just makes me feel super conscious. I hope that I can figure out some way to get in a decent marathon. This video is giving me inspiration to use the apps available and you can bet that thats something that i will be trying
Aww so proud of you Hannah!x
Your hair colour is what I always considered “dirty blonde”! Not meant as an insult at all haha. I pictured Luna Lovegood with hair like yours when I read the HP books
That's amazing progress. Way to go!!!!
You really inspire me, but still i am too lazy to run.
You got it!!
Omg i had no idea there was an app for couch 2 5k. Ive just been using the podcast and it was good but a little less convenient if i forgot download the next run before heading out. Switching to the app for the next ome ☺
I think you and I are about the same size. Who makes your industrial strength sports bra and compression vest? Because girl, the girls have kept me from exercise for too long
Woooo Hannah!! You can do this!!
yaaaaay! Wanted to like the video before even watching it!
Sorry if this is invasive. but where did you get your industrial strength sports bra? Imma need one of those bad boys!
You go girl
you are the cutest TH-camr in my subscribed list♥️
saaqib iqbal Isn’t she so adorable? ❤️
2:20 it's called interval training. It's really good to get fitness levels up. But you have to do it at least every day ☺
You can do it Hannah!!!
You're v inspirational. Cool vid
Just fyi, couch to 5k isn't an NHS thing it started on a running website, but the idea is probably older.
What I liked to do is edit some music into the appropriate length and when the track changed switch to walking or running
What support belt do you use? I don't like the one I have but I want to be more active but it feels like my insides will fall out my belly button.
You are doing a great job.
What bra do you use? I ran before having my baby, but now I'm breastfeeding and my breasts are HUGE, and I tried running the other day and just completely noped right out of there because my boobs were just not supported enough and were just all over the place! I really need an industrial sports bra!!
Buy a measuring wheel and see how long your routes are. (Or, you could use an app to measure them, but where's the fun in that?)
I‘m honestly so envious of the NHS right now! Couch to 5k sounds awesome and I looked in the German App Store and unfortunately (and obviously) we don’t have it or anything similar for free 🙄 wish the BMG would come up with such stuff, but the internet is “Neuland” for the CDU party 🤷🏽♀️
if she is using that then at least its better then my intinal reaction which was to her running is like ridding a bike as she has been running since a little kid and somehow figure out how to run since then.
Is this Couch to 5K an app on your phone? I’m really interested in that!
Which support belt do you use? Where did you get it from?
Luv you Hannah... followed u for years on you tube 😘
🎶 Run, Baby, Run, Baby, Run, Baby, Run 🎶
Sheryl Crow - "Run, Baby, Run"
what is the couch to 5k app you’re using? i found a bunch on the app store and wasn’t sure which one to get
The couch to 5k app isn't available in NZ goddamit 😭 This video is so inspiring me to actually get out there and get fit though!
i feel so guilty right now for having tried and given up on couch to 5k twice *fail* - no real excuse except lazinedd. Maybe this a good time to try again, if you can do it with everything you've had going on, maybe I can!
Start with not staying on the couch, being active daily. The more you do the easier it becomes, then you can actually do such a race.
Nothing can stop you
Wooh!! Killing it!
GO HANNAH, GO HANNAH! :D
I'm 100 % couch right now but this made me want to run right now :)
You’re doing amazing sweetie
hope your run goes well! going through the comments while watching and reporting all the gross ones. wish you didn’t have to see them 🤢
Of course you can!
I love your channel ❤️
Also, the couch to 5k app sin't available in America. Sigh.
You can download the audio tracks to run to off the NHS website though
Try the Zombies 5K thingy! It's an American app, I think?
keep going you're doing great!
NOOOO I'M BLONDE
@@hannahwitton that's okay, keep going!
Your a great inspiration
Industrial Sports BRA! 😂
Good for you taking it slow.
Hannah is so beautiful 😍 and wonderful. I swear she was in my dream today it was great 👍🏾 she loved me and hugged me. ❤️
I am not in a recovery, but I can run only 3.30 min and then I'm dying :')
Absolutely okay with just very long fast walking though
My teacher let us run for a whole hour without any breaks, so much fun! xD
I would've thrown up on his shoes :)
Keep it up hannah...you are doing very well👍👍😀😀😀
Good luck 🍀😘
I want to start running but I don't know what to do with my phone? I don't like holding it
Where did you get that spaceship necklace I need it most
Wow look at you!
Question... is there a surgery to replace the stoma with a functioning intestines or is the stoma a permanent thing?
There is a surgery called J-Pouch where they connect your small intestine back to your bum. Hannah told this in former videos, but as it affects your fertility as a woman, she's probably only gonna do this when she's done having kids :)
