I'm a historian and just found this; I have recently been obsessed with studying about Baldwin IV of Jerusalem and the Crusades after accidentally stumbling across him and seeing how he was depicted by Edward Norton in Kingdom of Heaven. He was a strong king, with a brave heart and spirit, despite all the hardship he had struggled with because of his affliction. It's a shame that many people do not know of him and that he has almost become forgotten, but it makes me so happy knowing that you did this to honor his memory, and that there are people keeping history alive with their work. I'm sure he would've dearly appreciated your gift of music. God bless, and please continue doing what you're doing.

A king who knew how to outwit Saladin, with leprosy, almost blind and only 24 years old, came to be respected by the Franks and Muslims, a great song, I liked it a lot.
Baldwin IV, called the Leper, was King of Jerusalem from 1174 until his death in 1185. He was admired for his willpower and dedication to the Kingdom of Jerusalem even in the face of his debilitating leprosy.
Oh my God. I didn't think somebody honored the memory of this extraordinary man at this very moment, and yet it was posted just recently. Thank you for this wonderful music, I definitely imagine this as the end soundtrack to my comic about Baldwin IV.
I did a quick Google search and I found this: Baldwin the fourth was a King of Jerusalem from 1174 until his death in 1185. Baldwin suffered from Leprosy, which is why he eventually went blind and lost the ability to use his hand and feet. Had many successful military campaigns and was able to maintain a position on his throne despite his condition. Though one question remains. In my research some sources said that there were no contemporary sources saying he wore a mask... Though my level of research was very surface level. Research or not, this is a wonderful piece from our Golden Maestro!

Thank you for this music. I've never been interested in historical figures but Baldwin IV somehow is different. I feel like I'm supposed to learn by his example... I often search for musical assosiations with certain characters so I did the same for Baldwin and was surprised when I realized that someone - you - created music specifically for him. It is perfect. I don't have to search for connections, to exercise my imagination - I just know that this is about him and is his only, both his portrait and a prayer for his soul. It is such a gift to him... and to me. (I'm not trying to speak for a long dead person I could never know personally but I feel that anyone would be honored to receive a creation filled with feelings caused by their life story. I wonder if he was shown a lot of sympathy - not respect, fear, admiration or something else, just plain sympathy - during his life.) I hope that I didn't misunderstand what I read (in description) and heard (in music).
