The King is about a young king who gets tricked into fighting the french, then realizing at the end, that his actual enemy was another englishman. Also, Dunkirk doesn't really show the french, but the introduction scene makes it clear that the english desperatly try to cross the sea - all while the french soldiers give them a chance to retreat, basically sacrificing themselves for the greater good.

The movie presents a clear and uncomplicated historical narrative without any overtly dramatic events. However, the music in the movie had a captivating effect on me as it was seamlessly integrated into the historical drama. Furthermore, the acting, particularly in the final scene, was commendable.
and the soundtrack is so dark and intense, just like the movie.. a kid, who didn't want the life of s king but found himself deep in it, and in the end, he wants peace not only for himself but for everyone and is willing to fight for it, even after losing everyone he cared about
The King has one of the best scores of the 2000's. Interstellar and There Will Be Blood are a couple of others that come to me off the top of my head. EDIT: I have to add Sicario & Inception to that list too.
I agree. I've heard a lot of scores throught the years but only The King recently made an impression on me. I would add Hostiles (2017) soundtrack too, it's gorgeous as well.

My family were in the battle of agincourt, the Brignalls that is. And its been passed down from generation to generation, England is a very old country indeed
and the army can consist out of people who are hungry for war and force an leader to war what happend so many times in history. yes wars make devastation but it often also created internal peace in a country. leaders are often pushed to war beceuse of recources or citizins of the country itself

It's a shitty movie. It's 100% propaganda using Shakespeare as an excuse, and pretending to be history accurate. Too bad because the OST is good, as well as the directing, but the plot is the worst possible.

Falstaffs character needed a bit more in the film. Crusader Knight suffering visible PTSD from wars. He was poor but still knighted. Would've liked to have found out more of his journey and how a Knight who once was friends with a previous King fell so low.
I think there was a lot of unfulfilled potential in the movie. Hard to find much to relate to within the characters/story but Edgerton did so well with what he was given.
Love the movie I think the actor portrayed the part good it shows that some leaders can stand for the people even though they lose their way as they get older due to corruption and people around you and like the sister said in the movie every Man has a kingdom behind their eyes
