Here is our version of J.R.R. Tolkien's poem, "A Elbereth Gilthoniel." We hope you enjoy it:). See description for an explanation of our interpretation of this piece.
Varda was always the most sacred of the Valar to the elves, for it was she who gave them the light they saw whem they first awoke in Cuivienen. They never forgot her, whether Caliquendi or Moriquendi, they would always remember her... until they too passed into the uttermost West. Thank you so much... this really touched my heart and was exactly what I needed today.
Thank you. Could you possibly do more catholic music, your originals are very good. In this modern world which has forsaken God, holy music is a reminder of his majesty. Glory to God.
I heard this part within this song, and I was like I recognize that tune lol. Didn't make sense to me until the Song of Eärendil played on my playlist again lol
For those who read the Silmarillion: I close my eyes, and imagine this song sang by the Eldar during the feast called by Fingolfin and Maedhros on the shores of lake Mithrim
For those who aren't familiar, A Elbereth Gilthoniel is a Sindarin Hymn to Varda Elentari, the Queen of the Stars in Tolkien's legendarium. It's so beautiful because the Elves awoke in Middle Earth under the dominion of the Dark Lord Melkor (Morgoth) thousands of years before the sun and moon were created, and the only light visible to them was the stars. For this reason, they held Varda in even greater awe than the other Valar.
Their name for themselves also references that: Eldar, which can be translated to something close to "people of the stars". They loved Varda, and her stars, above all else.

What a surprise! I was doing my routine things today while listening Earendil song only for the Elbereth Gilthoniel part. And here it is as a separate single! Well, no wonder what I will be listening in the nearest time! 😅
"The song ended. 'These are High Elves! They spoke the name of Elbereth!' said Frodo in amazement. 'Few of that fairest folk are ever seen in the Shire. Not many now remain in Middle-Earth, east of the Great Sea. This is indeed a strange chance!'"
Everything about this composition is phenomenal. The combination of the three songs was a great choice. And the energy behind the performances really bring out the feeling that this is a hymn full of reverence. Also love that old fantasy artstyle (I'm sure there's a specific name, but i just know it as old fantasy illustrations)
I love how your tone varies throughout the song. At times it sounds like a lone elf singing contemplative as they wander through the forests of Middle Earth, yet at its crescendo it's enough to put the fear of the Valar into the orcs at the coming of the hosts of the West in the War of Wrath

It's the poem in this very video translated into Sindarin and used as the lyrics for the track "The Passing of the Elves" from the extended edition of FotR. Snow-white! Snow-white! O Lady clear! O Queen beyond the Western seas! O light to us who wander here Amidst this world of woven trees!
When I opened TH-cam and saw this thumbnail, my heart leaped for joy. This song is usually beautiful when people sing it. I have been wanting Clamavi De Profundis to do it for so long. I love hearing them sing in constructed languages. Thank you.
Just got back from participating in a Eucharistic procession where we sang a few Marian hymns. This composition really drives home how much of an inspiration the Virgin Mary was for Tolkien's creation and treatment of Varda/Elbereth.
In a single song barely seven minutes long, you put more love, effort, and reverence into the original work and into Tolkien's world than the Rings of Power ever could.
I'm going to break with most here, but the only thing I can think of hearing this is a lone Sam invoking Elbereth underground against Shelob and have a star shine in his hand in his darkest moment. It gives me chills. Great work!
I love 1:30 to 2:30. You guys are amazing. I use your songs for inspiration for my poetry. I am truly in awe of your gifts. Still hoping for Frodo's Lament for Gandalf!
So calming. So beautiful. So... Deep... For 40 years, i've been telling myself... "You have to learn English"... I wonder... If i listen ENOUGH to De Profundis... Will i eventually learn ??
Eeeee! Very excited for this! This was the first Elvish song I ever memorised as a child (with entirely wrong pronunciation but.... let's ignore that.) it's so beautiful! And that artwork ❤❤
Saw Elven in the title and thought "Elves in my Dwarven music?" and it's absolutely epic! Perfectly captures the tone and feel of the poem!! Beautiful blend of voices to create a divine harmony.
And again, I'm spirited away to a far away place, a place where my fantasys become alive. Where I can meet those I dream of. Where the pictures I draw are reality. Thank you for sharing this. I enjoy your work deeply.
This is one of my favorite of Tolkien's poems. Neat rendition. I do wish that some of these elvish pieces, such as this and Namarie, could be sung more in the original style that the elves might have sung them in: more like CDP's 'I Sit Beside the Fire and Think', which is one of their most beautiful arrangements.
Love it - so beautiful! I have yet to hear anyone who can rival your compositions. And did you do the artwork? That's incredible as well! Our Lord and Lady bless you!
Thank you ! Very powerfull song it is, almost a prayer. Well, in Middle Earth it would be, sort of, especially the words of Sam in Cirith Ungol. In our primary world it reminds me strongly of others.
Have you ever though to make a song (or several) with the elvish “Our Father” or “Ave Maria” (“Átaremma” and “Aia María” in Quenya, “Ae Adar nín” for an unfinished Pater in Sindarin)?
This would be awesome. I would absolutly find joy in such a composition. I daresay I would love to hear the good prayers in the tounges of the eldar, and perhaps in the great and old melodies and drones I so dearly enjoy.
Beautiful. I love dwarves, but i wanted you to release some elvish content since "Far over a misty mountains", where were remembered friendship between King Beneath the Mountain and Elvish Lord.
This song is particularly well done, I really think (as much as anyone can guess) that Tolkien himself would have enjoyed the effort and beauty that you put into bringing his words to life in song. Thank you for sharing!
Simply sublime thank you so much for putting this together for us I am really enjoying your Elven composition an absolute delight to hear the Song of Eärendil
Amazing as always! I have always loved how song is integral to Tolkien's world. Something the adaptations of his works have been very conservative of so far. I hope someday they can portray how powerful songs are in his world, which can evoke faith and strength of will. Missed opportunities for these poems or snippets of them to shine in the movies and shows. A Elbereth Gilthoniel!
It sort of approaches a bardcore style, but it's the best adaptation of the musical poem that I've seen. Given that Tolken was a linguist and not an expert of medieval and earlier musical styles, I think it would have also been more in line with his own understanding as well.

Does the star in the picture represent a Cross? It looks a little bit like one, and it's beautiful. Or is It only a coincidence?

Another 10h song...
Do you really think so ?
There is a little of Elvish in all of us. Weep not.🙏❤️

Tolkien has inspired so many other artists, it’s a merrier world for it.
Imagine this song in the credits of a series about the Silmarillion (but well executed and canonically accurate, unlike Rings of Power).
In a single song barely seven minutes long, you put more love, effort, and reverence into the original work and into Tolkien's world than the Rings of Power ever could.
Agreed!!!
Always honored to hear your music.
Tolkien is peak fantasy. He wrote the book on it. Dare I say, he made the genre.
There is no fantasy without Tolkien.
