Disarming knife is just choreography, in a real street fight if you try to disarm your opponent doesn't matter how much skilled you are, you'll get cut. Please be serious, real life is totally different form movies...
Sir Emil. Ive been following you for some time and I love the concepts, applications and the homage you pay to Bruce and JKD. But I fear you like other Shihans, Sifus, and instructors or professors are slowly falling victim to your students complacency of larping and not offering true resistance for fear of shaming their sensei. The minute you offer weapons based training in any other context other than purely just for demonstration and not to be taken as intent to reapply in a street based scenario, your putting your putting observers at risk, unless you can demomstrate methodology being used in a 100% go environment with training knives possibly face gaurds to dull true impact and technique completions challenged by true attempts at resistance and not giving up until made to do so. Sincerely, urban combat follower.
I would like to see more student demonstrations (especially by women and/or smaller people) because they are the ones sound self-defense concepts and practice should be helping the most. Watching a master subdue students is one thing, watching students subdue the master is quite a bit more impressive!
yeah some years ago when this great dude started his travel in JKD some people told differently, but from the start I knew he was good I follow his video since then and it's inspirational to grow stronger and stronger in time I have faith in my possibilities.
Mr Emil, Great video...seems like you have the total package, strength, speed, kicks, skills..JKD! I was very impressed, had to watch video a few times, wish I could train under you sifu Emil.
The way you run the art is amazing, I never thought I'd see this is seems to be the maximum of wingchun and free sparring, really is jeet kune do, no school here in Brazil not? a hug
well im a martial artist from western new york around buffalo not much jkd around hear but moving to texas soon and found an awesome school wondering if you have any advice and by the way some people say jkd is a dead art its so nice to see living proof that its not you sir are truly a diamond in the rough and its an honor that people as young as you are out there the two best of the next gen most def you of uk and in usa arguably octavio quintero both of you keep up the good work
you have the real concept of what JKD is really about and its about self development its refreshing to see. I have seen your videos before inside of caves and basements lol and thats what bruce wanted in teaching small groups in the backyard man. wish i was in in your part of the world man
What I was worried about here is that in streetfight attacks you very rarely actually see the knife out in the open like in demonstrations and that bringing the knife across the centre line could be potentially very dangerous. Dan's stuff does that sometimes...
Most people r just moving... without any accuracy- it’s trash trust me- I’ve studied Jujitsu for 10yrs and teach as an assistant- most of these things r all flash
Awesome video Emil can't wait to see more footage very nice camera angles seeing a variety of movements within all kinds and range of fighting :-) hope all is well i found 2.56 quite funny looked like he got hit by a truck its just the way he flew off shot lol
A maneira que voce executa a arte é surpreendente, jamais pensei ver desta forma, parece ser o maximo de wingchun e sparring livre, realmente é o jeet kune do, não tem escola aqui no brasil não? um abraço
Sifu Martirossian, Do you ever hold seminars in the eastern part of the United States? Do you have any suggestions for a good instructor in the Boston, Massachusetts area? There is power and grace in your style. One can see in the videos that the mind and body are connected to the flow.
I have watched most (if not all) of the videos uploaded on TH-cam featuring Emil's Urban Combat. This one deserves to be on the front page of wwwDOTemilmartialartsDOTcoDOTuk as it is a good introduction & advertisement for the school.
guro raymond crow its called crows martial arts hes the real deal i talked to him for awhile one day hes learned from almost everyone of bruce lees original students and it just so happens to be in carrolton bout 15 or 20 minutes north of dallas i think its like 130 a month but you can go to as many classes as you can get to for that price and he has multiple classes everyday good luck hope i was of some help
You should listen to what Dominick Izzo says about Bruce Lee's Wing Chun. I was a bit upset, but he is entitled to his opinion. But after his video, he has another video called "Preserving Bruce Lee's JKD" with a Sifu Singh. I wonder if he, when sparing, was sort of put in his place. He seemed more humbled after that meeting.
+Adam Hassler I don't think Dominic ever said that JKD was not good. He merely said that Bruce Lee didn't progress adequately in Wing Chun to say that it was not functional enough in real fights.
Nice, hey emil, you got or thinking of making a training dvd i no they don`t give much justice as in real life, however they would be good for people who "life myself" have not got no jkd schools by me :D
I have been training escrima 1 year and wing chun 5 years i am going to university soon away from my classes and where i am going there is no wing chun or escrima, there is a JKD class there though but im confused about what JKD is and am a bit sceptical i mean wasnt it meant to be a concept rather than a style/class? should i just learn another traditional art like aikido or jujitsu and blend that with the other stuff i have learned or join a JKD class?
Emil is one of the most open minded jkd teachers. Enjoy his teaching and learn brothers!
