Disarming knife is just choreography, in a real street fight if you try to disarm your opponent doesn't matter how much skilled you are, you'll get cut. Please be serious, real life is totally different form movies...

Sir Emil. Ive been following you for some time and I love the concepts, applications and the homage you pay to Bruce and JKD. But I fear you like other Shihans, Sifus, and instructors or professors are slowly falling victim to your students complacency of larping and not offering true resistance for fear of shaming their sensei.
The minute you offer weapons based training in any other context other than purely just for demonstration and not to be taken as intent to reapply in a street based scenario, your putting your putting observers at risk, unless you can demomstrate methodology being used in a 100% go environment with training knives possibly face gaurds to dull true impact and technique completions challenged by true attempts at resistance and not giving up until made to do so.
    Sincerely, urban combat follower.

I would like to see more student demonstrations (especially by women and/or smaller people) because they are the ones sound self-defense concepts and practice should be helping the most. Watching a master subdue students is one thing, watching students subdue the master is quite a bit more impressive!

some years ago when this great dude started his travel in JKD
      some people told differently,
but from the start I knew he was good
I follow his video since then
and it's inspirational to grow stronger and stronger in time
I have faith in my possibilities.

What I was worried about here is that in streetfight attacks you very rarely actually see the knife out in the open like in demonstrations and that bringing the knife across the centre line could be potentially very dangerous. Dan's stuff does that sometimes...

    Sifu Martirossian,
Do you ever hold seminars in the eastern part of the United States?
Do you have any suggestions for a good instructor in the Boston, Massachusetts area?
There is power and grace in your style. One can see in the videos that the mind and body are connected to the flow.

You should listen to what Dominick Izzo says about Bruce Lee's Wing Chun. I was a bit upset, but he is entitled to his opinion. But after his video, he has another video called "Preserving Bruce Lee's JKD" with a Sifu Singh. I wonder if he, when sparing, was sort of put in his place. He seemed more humbled after that meeting.

    • @Averagebum21
      @Averagebum21 8 ปีที่แล้ว

+Adam Hassler I don't think Dominic ever said that JKD was not good. He merely said that Bruce Lee didn't progress adequately in Wing Chun to say that it was not functional enough in real fights.

I have been training escrima 1 year and wing chun 5 years i am going to university soon away from my classes and where i am going there is no wing chun or escrima, there is a JKD class there though but im confused about what JKD is and am a bit sceptical i mean wasnt it meant to be a concept rather than a style/class? should i just learn another traditional art like aikido or jujitsu and blend that with the other stuff i have learned or join a JKD class?
