I work in "The Metropolis Library " (where there's a Superman art installation) and every day a crowd of people would gather at the wall of windows in my department, to watch the shoot, and Gunn had to send one of his people up to move us out the way, because I guess we were messing up his shot!😂

My dad wasn't much of a moviegoer and not much into TV other than the news. His preference of movies narrowed down to classics such as Leone's spaghetti westerns and WWII movies such as the Dirty Dozen and The Great Escape. So when I say he took my younger brother and I to three movies in our lifetime, I mean it LITERALLY! He took us to go see T2 and Burton's Batman on opening night, and of course, Superman. Not only was it the first time watching a movie on the big screen, but it was the first time my dad took an interest in something outside of his wheelhouse. As an adult, decades down the road, I asked him why he took me to go see a movie he clearly had no interest in. His reply came without pause and was remarkably simple, "it's Superman." Well said, dad. Well said 👏🏾👍🏾
I’ve seen ‘fans’ hating on this movie already because it’s not Henry. And while I love Henry and Zack’s Superman, their chapter was bookended with the release of the Snyder Cut. True Superman fans or fans of any character know the importance of embracing change and new iterations of the characters they love. It’s a privilege to be able to have a grounded Superman in Henry or a maturing Superman in Tom Welling to look back on, while looking forward to a David’s more fantastical adaptation of the character.

With the return of Chris Evans in avengers it makes me feel Disney is panicking. If it was just RDJ returning I wouldn’t be too worried because they had to do something with the dismissal of Majors, but both of them seems like a panic movie like they did with Star Wars.
I am so excited for this movie. Watching the teaser trailer made me emotional just because of the visual color palette and the costume depictions. It immediately took me back to 12 year-old me, clutching a stack of Superman comics in my hands, anxiously awaiting the moment I get home so I can escape into Metropolis and the larger DC world. I love the suite, the action, the romance, and the looming tension of the greatest hero struggling with how to use his powers for truth, justice, and the American way.
Also I think since Guy Gardner, hawkgirl, and Mr Terrific have similar suits with logos under their jackets they work for Maxwell Lord in some way. I remember someone saying that on another video looking at close ups of bts pics

Glad you pointed out the Gorilla Grodd easter egg! If you’re watching Creature Commandos, I think they’re actually going to make him the main villain for ‘phase 1’ of the DCU as he could be viewed as both a God (psychic abilities) and Monster (physical appearance). He’s mind controlling tons of people from behind the scenes to ultimately rid the world of superhero’s and humans. Circe should be after him, not the princess. She, like many others , will be shown to be pawns in his long game.
Christopher Reeves’ Superman made me a fan of comics in general. I moved on to other characters as I got older, but I always circled back to Superman at different stages of my life. Hearing the tune of John Williams’ theme just brought it back, and has me hoping for the best.

Personally I think my earliest memories of Superman come from the Justice League animated series which I instinctively call JLU just because they blend together so seamlessly
I think the lens trick they are pulling off by have multiple focal lengths which in turn makes Superman’s fist, boot and chest all in focus evokes the visual feel of a comic book. Comics are not really drawn too often with DOF blur. Usually if it is it conveys motion.
I am loving the vibe of this trailer, the feel of the Christopher Reeves Superman, it gave me goosebumps, took me back to being a kid again. Happily surprised and cannot wait until its release. Great video as always. Many thanks. 🚀
Don’t call him Kal El, he’s Clark. Kal el is his birth name but Clark is who he is. Clark isn’t a disguise either. It’s his true self. Ma & Pa Kent didn’t raise him to be Kal El. They raised him as Clark. The reason Superman never works for long & has to be constantly rebooted in comics, film & other media is people never get Clark right so we lose interest cause we don’t relate to Krypton or Kal El. That’s all alien to us.
The blink when the can hits his head is not a flinch it’s a look of disappointment. Superman does feel rage at some points he does get let down by humanity he gives up at some point. Gunn said he would include all aspects of the character. He’s not just the blue Boy Scout. He has emotions. He wasn’t flinching from the can he was disappointed in the humans around him for not appreciating or understanding what he’s doing for humanity. But he doesn’t react because he is above them. He forgives them for their ignorance. “Forgive them father for they know not what they do”. He is a God. This is the reference. You’re welcome.
I remember having my first job as a paperboy and using my money to take my mom, sister and brother to see the first Superman movie. I got to treat my family to a great movie.
The level of detail in this breakdown is unreal. Spotting the nod to classic comic panels in the background blew my mind-such a cool touch by the creators!
Thank you for mentioning all of the Cleveland shots/tid bits! As a born and raised Clevelander we’re SO EXCITED to see our city shine in this movie! Also - the actress who plays Hawkgirl is also from Cleveland 😊
That opening made me think of Christopher Reeve after he temporarily loses his powers in Superman II and gets beaten up in a fight. His reaction to seeing his own blood was priceless.
This movie has a lot of pressure not only on this film and a DCU but comic book movies in general. I’d say culture has shifted but in reality it’s coming at a time where everyone wants a hero that isn’t a subversive take but rather an actual hero, some good that we can aspire to be like. To prove that not everyone is evil or pretending to be good with alterer motives
The poster tag line look up. Comes from Clark and Lex’s first encounter in Lois and Clark Newer Adventure of Superman with Dean Cain. Where Superman tells Lex to “Look Up”
My childhood memories of Superman is not wanting to go to the bathroom at night, as I was sure those three evil characters from Superman 2 (?) were outside the window waiting to get me 😝 They were scary for a very little me. I loved the series though and have watched all those movies many times.
7:04 I could be wrong but I'm from Cleveland and I think that was actually "Tower City" an old mall. That isn't Jacks casino. Avengers scene Captain America vs Loki was filmed in front of Tower City
This trailer gave me goosebumps. Superman was originally my favorite superhero, but then I discovered Spiderman and changed sides. So glad to see the trunks come back!
unlike the critics and the nerds i thought all the previous superman movies were great. the plane scene in superman returns is hard to beat. that all being said this flick will be wicked good. it cannot be otherwise. FTR i thought green lantern with ryan reynolds was top notch.
My boomer mom had nearly every episode of Silver Age Superman. My sister and I read them while takeing baths, destroying them all. Lot of money gone. GREAT goofy little stories back then. Nearly all one-shots, nearly always involving Superman being way more clever than everyone else, but something so satisfying about it.
Great job EV and NR!! My first experience with Superman was a comic book for sure. I also have a vivid memory of watching the 1978 movie (I was 3 when it premiered in theaters) on television as a special broadcast which had different scenes that were not in the theatrical cut. I love this trailer so much I've watched it several times along with several reviews of it. I have a question: does anyone else think that purple thing in the sky is not a battle?
I don’t understand how some loud minority can take everything in this teaser and make it negative. The teaser was amazing at showing us classic Superman is back
I think Millie Alcock will appear in a post credit scene with her pod crash on earth (maybe near the Fortress Of Solitude) with the pod to open to reveal Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl and as we see the pod open there is a shadow on it and Kara *Looks up* to see Superman with a grin on his face saying something amongst the lines of "Hey, I'm Superman but you can call me Kal-El". P.S. Please don't hate on me if you don't like this or it doesn't happen in the movie and wish I die for anything like that. It's sad when people on the internet decide to argue with a teenager on the internet just cause he likes something or the idea of something harmless.
My password was some variation of superman for the longest, I've been able to relate to every rendition that has come out so I'm so excited for this to see how I connect to him.
As a kid I loved the line “You got me. Who’s got you?” By Lois. I was a kid so I really thought he was flying. I knew it was a movie, but I guess I thought CR could fly! 😅
My brother told me the reason Krypto looks like that, instead of the usual breed we seen from comics and cartoons (movies inclueded) from before, it's because he's based of the dog that James Gunn adopted in real life, and one of the reasons Krypto being in the movie is to raise atention to a pet adoption charity.
I agree with you there, not saying Solaris is in this movie but the fact they have not brung up Solaris as an option for the weird ball thing. Especially when considering this film has elements inspired by all star Superman, where Solaris is present. And to go ahead and say “brainiac” just tells me they have no idea what they are talking about… brainiac? Seriously? I thought they knew their shit. And their excuse would be “we just didn’t bring it up because of having to cut time for this video”… nobody is believing that bs
It is not “lex go to suit” it’s a newer thing, that has been used a few times in cartoons and video games, lexbots have always had the green and purple tho and have either been humans or robots
Not to mention the way he pronounces Circe lmao she's not even just a DC character she's from Greek mythology I feel like there's no excuse for a channel this big to be making stupid mistakes like that, it just seems like he's lazily reading off of a script

I totally thought the Krypto was a real dog in this scene.
🤦🏾♂️
They really did a killer job creating him.
@@andrewbroadfort6856 I found the armchair vfx expert guys.
Yeah CGI in 2025 is just this crazy. We already in the future
He is just not when he’s running
*I just want this SUPERMAN movie to have a good STORY and to be FUN and ENJOYABLE. This looks good so far. Please...! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 BRING IT ON SUPERMAN!!*
I think the way Clark clings to Pa.. and that Jonathan just got some terminal news.. I think Martha passed already
Agreed
I saw the original Superman in theaters when I was a little kid. This takes me back to that feeling.
Yesssss ! I'm excited for this film!
The level of detail in this breakdown is unreal. Spotting the nod to classic comic panels in the background blew my mind-such a cool touch by the creators!
Please, Gunn, don’t kill Krypto. I suffered enough with GOTGV3, not on this one again. 😔
Seeing a Gorilla and immediately thinking Grodd. No love for Ultrahumanite
Grodd appears in the most recent Creature Commandos episode, which might be why he thinks it's Grodd. But much love to Ultra Humanite always 💪
Or Titano
It's definitely Grodd as much as it'd make sense for it to be Ultra Humanite we literally kinda see Grodd in creature commandos
Bingo on Titano!
Pruitt Taylor Vince is SUUUUCH an underrated actor. So happy to see him in this!
First missable detail should be the hand-shaped crater that was formed on the snow!
I think Alan Tudyk would be good for Braniac. I think his voice would do great,
This movie has a lot of pressure not only on this film and a DCU but comic book movies in general.
I’d say culture has shifted but in reality it’s coming at a time where everyone wants a hero that isn’t a subversive take but rather an actual hero, some good that we can aspire to be like. To prove that not everyone is evil or pretending to be good with alterer motives
😂
The poster tag line look up. Comes from Clark and Lex’s first encounter in Lois and Clark Newer Adventure of Superman with Dean Cain.
Where Superman tells Lex to “Look Up”
Nice
28:40 this fit Lex is wearing is tough
Ultraman in Japan: 🎉🎉
Ultraman in America: 🤜🤛
My early memories of superman was watching the Christopher reeve movies, the max fleisher cartoon and the justice league cartoon
18:06 These signs are references to Jeph "Loeb", Jim "Lee", Mark "Waid" and Grant "Morrison"
My childhood memories of Superman is not wanting to go to the bathroom at night, as I was sure those three evil characters from Superman 2 (?) were outside the window waiting to get me 😝 They were scary for a very little me. I loved the series though and have watched all those movies many times.
If Krypto dies in this movie i will never recover from it..
As a photographer I greatly appreciate these types of details and analysis! Plus I’m a nerd so … 😂
0:51 I guess he does bleed
9:50 am, not 10:50…😂😂😂
Dam you beat me to it LMAO
Agree but I doubt he'll acknowledge his error
My earliest Superman memory is receiving a VHS of the Fleischer Superman cartoons when I was a kid. I watched and I was hooked.
7:04 I could be wrong but I'm from Cleveland and I think that was actually "Tower City" an old mall. That isn't Jacks casino. Avengers scene Captain America vs Loki was filmed in front of Tower City
And the floating kiss was shot in The Arcade. My sister was married there. Such a great venue.
Him saving the little girl definitely reminded me of the Smallville opening credits
6:20 watch creature commandos and you’ll know!!!! People need to know it’s part of the DCU!!
Facts
You must like everything then
i love how when kal el says take me home its like he taking me back home back to how dc and superman supposed to be
That is exactly the meta-commentary.
26:45 "Is Loise okay?" Got me wondering the same thing 😂😂
made for old skool superman fans, so different to what we have seen in the past superman movies.
I don’t understand how some loud minority can take everything in this teaser and make it negative. The teaser was amazing at showing us classic Superman is back
Agreed, the classic comic book vibe is something I really like about what we’ve seen so far.
Nothing special about this trailer
Nicholas Hoult looks like the best part of the movie so far
The shot of Superman in the snow looks like he's lying in a handprint to me
I think Millie Alcock will appear in a post credit scene with her pod crash on earth (maybe near the Fortress Of Solitude) with the pod to open to reveal Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl and as we see the pod open there is a shadow on it and Kara *Looks up* to see Superman with a grin on his face saying something amongst the lines of "Hey, I'm Superman but you can call me Kal-El".
P.S. Please don't hate on me if you don't like this or it doesn't happen in the movie and wish I die for anything like that. It's sad when people on the internet decide to argue with a teenager on the internet just cause he likes something or the idea of something harmless.
Haven’t been excited for dc movie like this for awhile now🔥🔥
Same
Honestly same
My password was some variation of superman for the longest, I've been able to relate to every rendition that has come out so I'm so excited for this to see how I connect to him.
In the glass room superman punches trough, someones foot is behind him
Yea it's Metamorpho. The ones the video points to are his reflection I think
This trailer gave me such a rush of relief and content. Im so excited for this one
26:51 Obviously, he knows it's rude to wear your shoes within the house. Ma and Pa Kent taught him well.
Honestly, you guys should have been had membership by now! I won’t be subscribing, but I know a gazillion nerd too for sure will!
As a kid I loved the line “You got me. Who’s got you?” By Lois. I was a kid so I really thought he was flying. I knew it was a movie, but I guess I thought CR could fly! 😅
This movie looks so close to the comics, got me excited.
16:31 this scene also reminds me of where in Smallville, Clark saves that boy from a meteor rock.
I’m absolutely loving the aesthetic of this trailer. It really feels like classic, hopeful Superman. I’m all in!!!
I might be wrong, but isn't Progressive Field in Cleveland? And the team is the Cleveland Guardians (former Indians). Not the Washington Guardians.
The one shot that sold me on this is Superman saving that girl w the VR headset. Idk but it’s gorgeous and shows you what Superman is all about
Yep. By far my favorite snippet here. It's dynamic and perfectly "Superman".
I have liked every Superman movie I have ever watched for one reason or another. I don't see this being any different.
This is a healthy way to watch movies, I can dig it.
Reminds me of "Happiness is reality minus expectations"
31:47 NR let’s talk.. can we please get some actual comic/DC researchers on your team.. That’s Lex go to suit.. it’s never been a one off
I agree with you there, not saying Solaris is in this movie but the fact they have not brung up Solaris as an option for the weird ball thing.
@@elijahjohnson1358 😂 okay elijah
@ hey if I’m wrong I’m wrong, I just don’t remember a suit for lex before until fairly recently
Not to mention the way he pronounces Circe lmao she's not even just a DC character she's from Greek mythology I feel like there's no excuse for a channel this big to be making stupid mistakes like that, it just seems like he's lazily reading off of a script
Thank you! This is the most comprehensive analysis of the teaser anywhere.
