I’m the stage security for this unforgettable show best times of my life …
Rad... mine too, I was behind the camera. My girlfriend had run off and got married to some dude. I was hating it. This was a blast.
@@WorldRockumentaryChannel bro thank you so much I had totally forgot about this show I remember that I was there with the other bouncer Jaime casillas he was the huge and big guy running thangs and I was stage security keeping the kids safe and made sure no one got hurt total fun gig I think we each got 50 bucks Lol! And at that time I was head security at the coconut Teaszer on sunset thanks for the video memories I m still in the mix somewhat
@@Hollywoodrocker311 I remember you guys. I was there many times. How about that hot chick that did the stage dive? She was sexy
@@WorldRockumentaryChannel I think she was with the band cause I was totally surprised she came running out like a bat out of hell thru stage left and swan dived like a thrue champ Lol!
@@Hollywoodrocker311 She was my favorite on this video... lol. I took home three of the bands groupies in 1990 at the Sister God Damn club on 9th an San Pedro in L.A. The night Junkyard Played...
The people doing the funky hand moves with Anthony kills me🤣 16:39
23:11 John strums the very first notes of I Could Have Lied and Anthony sings the first line "there must be something in the way i feel", the crowd screams and Anthony goes into punkish scream vocal "that she don't want me to feel!!!". Then both John and Chad play the first 3 chords of the chorus. LOL
Yeah that was LOUD. Even saw john cringe. Was he mad about the bass? Or just trying till fill time?
Cringe
🤦🏻♂️
Swag Guffington My life is more than sorted out...TRUST ME. I’ve written cringe so many times due to all these dick riding RHCP fanboys. It’s pathetic. They’re worst than young teen girls 😆
@@AntwhaleNearfar
...it would make sense going to the "Californication" or "Otherside" videos to make these remarks...but you actually took the time to find a live bootleg from 1991 in order to insult them? 😂
This may surprise you but yes we are fans of the band, what did you expect, people as insufferable as yourself?
Swag Guffington Disdain for bullshit is usually the result of a much greater passion for great shit...of which you apparently know little about.
2:52 - Love Trilogy
6:17 - My Lovely Man
11:17 - Give It Away
16:25 - Jam
18:23 - Search & Destroy (Take 1)
19:25 - Technical Difficulties (John section)
24:18 - Search & Destroy (Take 2)
31:01 - Under The Bridge
35:49 - Me & My Friends
I love the fact that every song (except Love Trilogy) are still being played live (My Lovely Man was played in 2012).
Awesome footage, Richard!
Thank you so much for taking the time to mark those tracks. So cool.
World Rockumentary Channel™ 21:35 Frusciante covers the Velvet Underground ♥️
@@WorldRockumentaryChannel 29:00 were they going to leave early? What was up with that?
it's too bad they don't do Love Trilogy, it's such a great song all around
Including Technical Difficulties 😂
23:19 haha Anthony teasing I Could Have Lied
"there must be something in the way I feel"
(silence)
"THAT SHE DON'T WANT ME TO FEEL!!"
Anthony killed it on Under the Bridge. Also, it's amazing seeing the crowd not knowing the lyrics to what would arguably become their best track ever lmao
I love how John and AK are performing and Flea and Chad take a smoke break for the first verse!! It’s a beautiful performance. I’m always in awe by John’s talent at 21 yrs old here.
If they have soundboards of these early BSSM shows I pray that one day they are released. I'd do anything for them
If you do find one come back here and let me know
Fuck same
they were obviously really proud of their new songs. such a great and energetic show.
They were coming into their own as a band finding their sound it’s pretty amazing seeing the early days of BSSM
From 26:48 Frusciante blows my mind...incredible mature original and cool for a 21 years old guy
Unreal the musical maturity of young John Frusciante right here.
I agree with all that but that solo is off the record almost exactly
During Give it away, John has the g string out of tune haha, at 13:37 he reach to tune it haha. But still godlike!
Cringe
🤦🏻♂️
You'll NEVER hear them play a lot of these songs anymore. It's like they forgot their roots. First song was "Love Trilogy" from the album "Uplift Mofo Party Plan" from 1987. Chili's were the best between 1984 and 1995. Blood Sugar Sex Magik is their best album, hands down. Their swan song. Everything else has been Flea's own personal NA meeting for Anthony Kiedis.
@21:06 John plays the intro to Summertime Rolls by Jane's Addiction (Eric Avery's bass)!!
guitars his bass line? I never thought of that. I knew he was playing that intro, just never connected those dots... Awesome comment... Thank you.
Fun fact: this is the first time give it away was performed live
How awesome!!! I was a Senior in HS! I remember how crazy we were about them and it only grew from there!!
wrong lol
Love how no one knew quite what to make of Under the Bridge. Lol
7:55 sounds like a sampled snare. chad smith is the man.
I love this show. It's so raw and authentic. This is the best performance of "Under the Bridge." I've seen a lot, but nothing beats this one. Btw John's body was A-1 during this era.
Horrible version. Anthony is terribly out of key and John is sloppy af:
@@AntwhaleNearfar Dude.lol
Shanice: Right! So great to see an early performance of songs that were brand new @the time. Always a lot of hate thrown @them but jealousy will always be a thing you know..
@@thetruth72667 absolutely. I think this version is great.
And his guitar sound, so pure, bright, articulated and deep, not muffled at all... way less pedals too I guess.
Before John was on Dope. Good stuff!
The guitar sounds kind of out of tune on give it away but still great
They were taking heads and John still was all zboard...by the time i saw em in December @ the huge ass LA sports arena.. probably the biggest LA area show they had played at the tine in their 10+ s ..saw..with newly hit sensation Nirvana and a new band fron the ashes of a cool band Motger Love Bone who was calked. Pearl Jam..but atill not big ....thats when John woukd fuck up abd not play or make noise or not pkay or purposely fuck up and feedback instead of play solos ...i suppose it was John trying to be arty herion styke... Whatever johns reason for ruining songs or whatever he was doing....it sucked ..and john wasnt hapoy w tge band or himself it seemed . He was beginning to get reallv fucked off abd strung iut. Glad he survived as he being 2 years older than I with similar influences was a ingluense and one who i learned from ....
Ok WOW...i saw them a few times in here in LA/OC ..in 91 ..after they recorded Blood Sweat..and released it....a really cool time in music as well as for myself being 19 years old, playing guitar in bands and going to college along with a bit of mind expansion to help lwith my own personal enlightenment as well as that of society as a whole. ( lsd shrooms lots of herb and .. unfortunately or whatever...whatever you got) . Yes where the 60s failed in getting people enlightened united and working together We ( gen x..rhcp fans.and punk rockers ..that who we were ..not the posers or lames who were starting to turn up at RHCP s shows...( go back to yer guns n motley shows at the monsters of shlock dick....yes a red hot chili pepper fan at ths time were still punk rock as fuck for the most part...not quite mainstream ...soon though these dudes becane Huge...eferyone saw it coming since mothers milk and maybe mofo......the mainstream was still 90210 and steinfield obsessed watching lames ..so my mob of wackos was around oc/ong beach and had a sense wed make the workd better..or at least cooler...but w wider eclectic tastes..... real alternative music art and literature
If they could have kept the positive energy they had recording the record, this would have been unquestionably their best live era
31:15 Anthony takes a drag off of John's cigarette during Under The Bridge intro~
REALLY??!! OMG ARE YOU SERIOUS??!! THAT IS SO AMAAAAZING!!! HE ACTUALLY TOOK A DRAG FROM JOHN’S CIGARETTE??!! NO WAY!!!!
#🤦🏻♂️🙄
Y.T. Sobriquet The fuck is wrong with you lol
Mightyjoe: Hey good catch! I love when ppl notice little details like that. Very cool!!!
I honestly always thought it was a joint😂
John's ripping solo in my lovely man...
Camera: dark side of stage with crowd surfers-
😒
Great seeing the Chills as young dudes again. Under the bridge was massive in OZ, which is where I'm from obviously. I was a young dude then, hang on wtf happened? Got older. The chemistry between Flea and John is magic and always has been. No disrespect to the other guitarists that have stood in for his big shoes but RHCP are at there best when those 2 are together. Cheers
35:27 it's great to see how Anthony cheers at the end of the song, then he goes speak to John. that's a moment for the Rockumentary.
Nobody mentions that there’s no Mothers Milk songs in this show? Thanks for the upload!
Wow, I didn't even notice that until now. This was the first time they played live in 1991. They had came off the MM tour in 1990.
Anthony sounded great!!! Crazy they played my lovely man
This shit is badass. I know they’re getting older but, COME BACK WITH THE FUNK!!!!
The Punk-Funk! 💥
Lol? I just finished watching the video of under the bridge and you upload this, that's crazy
great timing...
You're a hero, the fact cenitri commented too is crazy
Who's that?
Awesome! Thanks a lot again
very welcome
Thank you so much for this. I really regret not seeing RHCP live during this era. All I kow is at this point in time, the world was absolutely delirious with the three events and I remember like it was yesterday. The release of new albums from Guns N Roses, Metallica, and Izzy's resignation.
Thank you❤️ I really wish there was more. It was too hot to last. At least when John came back they liberated a lot of the bssm stuff and they sound great but this just has an extra magic
You're welcome. I think BSSM only had been out for two weeks, this was their first performance of that album in Southern California.
JOhn didn't come back. He disappeared or died. The other guy had a different octopus tattoo, Thats why the funk and energy is not the same. you can't fake that magic. Hollywood is a sinister place, and John sudden unhappiness and departure is tied to that fateful night of river phoenix at the viper room. It was rumoured he wanted to leave and form a band with river. But I guess someone didn't want it to happen.
John Frusciante’s current guitar tone ain’t got nothing on the punchy, sparky, barely in control guitar tone he had in the 90s. He never sounded this good after leaving the first time.
Yeah this was two weeks after they released BSSM
anthonys energy during this era!!!!
Hi :D
@@joshhinojosa4522 Hi : D
Coke is a hellava drug😂😂
this is special, Flea is playing his WAL bass live!
If I remember correctly, Flea had to borrow John Doe's bass of X, two or three songs in on this set. 🤪🎸🥁🎶🎩
@@WorldRockumentaryChannel interesting, maybe there was some reason he hardly ever used the WAL live (they are exceptional basses)
@@vincenzollamas Right.. I think at 22:50 Flea had to switch out and use the John Doe Special.
@@WorldRockumentaryChannel i see now, thanks, hadn't watched the whole thing yet
It's very great watch this raw concert and see RHCP played before BSSM album became worldwide famous!
I was at “this” show...a couple of shows later in Omaha, NE, front row (pressed up against the stage) and Smashing Pumpkins opened up for them. Christ I’ve had a good life.
It ain't over😂
This is incredible. Thank you so much Richard!
very, very, welcome. Thank you too.
Frusciante is backkkkkk!!!
Fortunately for everyone involved, including us, he's right where he should be now... Bless these guys, man... Idk what I'd of done w/o them?
This is Frusciante right before his Big Meltdown 💭
Flea and John change places
I wanted them to play I could have lied so bad
Fuck this is elite. I would love the original file to see if could optimise audio at all!
Back when give it away was just another song
thanks to the hero that filmed this...live music may a thing of the past....look up what live nation is now demanding of all artists...complete annihilation and gutting of any profit a band has any chance of making, all but making it impossible for any band to have any success whatsover....boycott live nation now if you dare
The crowd proper warmed to under bridge. They are just talking for the start of it. I can see why they were nervous to make this song. Most ppl came for the fast funk punk. Big switch up!
FRUSCIANTE EN TODO SU ESPLENDOR
I think this was the tail end of potentially the peppers are their fastest and rawest - end of mothers milk era to the start of BSSM era they are locked in and fast as fuck

Just pure savage punk funk metal peppers before celphones...
I love under the bridge as the encore. He used the energy of the anticipation to allow himself to be vulnerable.
Sooo fucking cool love old gems like these before they started playing at stadiums and arenas for bssm
rad, they just realeased BSSM two weeks prior to this show. It was their first performance of the album.
Thanks for this! Frusciante in his prime.
yeah man, he was, glad you like it,
his prime was 1999-2003
pyrosteria98 I think he had 2 primes ❤️
@@pyrosteria9864 better from 2003 to 2007 for me. This is a different phase... Not top in this performance.
@@pyrosteria9864 No it wasn't.lol His prime was 04-07, and probably still is in his prime. But Stadium was his best playing.
Fuck this is elite. I would love the original file to see if could optimise audio at all!
13:19 time stamp for myself
Totally JA version of Give It Away ♥️
butthole surfers
is this the first time on the internet? amazing
yes, as the full set, clips of this show have been up for a few years now..
wow! so much energy coming off that stage! I long for the days they would open a show with “Love Trilogy”. they took risks back then.
And not nearly as many hits
jons "hendrix at woodstock" solo section is great
I feel like this is why rock is losing its gusto, it doesn't work in today's world. Everything now is about being a consistent brand and being perfect technically while back then they had more of a chance to experiment with all of it. I love rock a lot, but bands on the radio / popular these days just aren't as up to par. I'm not saying that to be snobby and I'm sure there's a ton of good rock bands out there, but it's hard to find have this energy "make it" without it being part of some promo or planned incident for shock factor etc
Yeah that’s how I feel too. No matter the genre Everything is a little too clean and muted and without raw energy and eccentricity. And crowds aren’t as frenzied and primal
Johnny❤🤘🎸
Uau... primeira vez vendo esse show...❤🌶
Any one seen a performance of Turn it Again? I want to see that live so badly.
Pretty sure they have only teased it
Chad was being schooled .
Were you there at their show at Pink's Garage (around February 9, '91 in Honolulu)?

shameful that you don’t know
thank you for this! please keep posting rhcp videos
Why is John on the left and Flea on the right???
WHY
cos that’s where they were standing with their feet & legs.
17:12 What about is Flea talking?
Correct Blood Sugar Sex Magic released September 1991
This is so amazing!
Thank You Richard!!!!
Very welcome, thank the band and Lindy too :-)

It's the guitar riff for the song SHUT UP RICHARD
I really felt fucking hyped up when they hit the nail at 3:43 Such a nice music trip

Chad smiths hi hat hand is buttery smooth
He was saying flea was playing john does bass .did X open the show?
yes, they did. Not with Billy Zoom tho
Maravilloso!! Thanksss
you're welcome
Look,it’s John’s old face!
Yeah, if you know his story, it's pretty easy to surmise what happened. I believe when he was going through his 5 year heroin binge, he, at one point, fell flat on his face and busted his nose. Being a heroin addict, he didn't want to give it up and realized going to the hospital would have busted him out. So, he bared through it. When he came back to the Chili Peppers in 1999, his nose was the first thing I noticed. It was considerably different and flat.
I’ve never heard that he fell on his face and broke his nose. Not disputing it though. But what i am sure of is that all the heroin and cocaine he snorted caused the nasal cartilage to weaken and his nose to spread wider. And now it is even wider than it was then. A broken nose doesn’t tend to continue to spread once broken. However if the cartilage is weak from drug use, for example, the nose loses its structural integrity and will continue to weaken and widen over time unless surgical intervention is performed.
Cooll❤🎉
Wicked!!!... Cheers dude ♥
yeah man, stoked to finally let this one out of the can
John seems happy, but who knows what went through his head those days...
Really Good man, really appreciate
Stoked
Saw them a month later in Philly! This was their peak!
weird to see flea and john stand on opposite sides to usual! also the voice effect on anthonys voice in give it away.... they must of been experimenting or something lol
Probably experimenting, yeah. This was the first time they'd ever played it live, I believe.
amizing to see john so young
At least in Wisconsin it was
The name of the song that john sing alone ??
21:19 After Hours (the velvet underground song).
Thank you so much for posting this concert. It made my weekend unforgettable. Almost all the songs from this concert are still performed, so you can compare their playing and sound then and now. Incredible, lively, powerful and interesting sound and at the same time a lot of naturalness and exploration in the playing and performance of songs that we now know as RHCP classics.
Is that flea with a P bass?
Borrowed from John Doe of X
Don't usually see Flea stage-left and John stage-right
I’ve been looking through comments for a while to see if anyone noticed that 😂
