When the video takes 3 hours to watch because you have to pause at every new song to listen to it and analyse what they were talking about
Just keep two youtube windows open, and have whatever song they are talking about play in the background... Unless you're watching on your phone or whatever, in witch case.. yeah.. 3 hours is about right.
+TheLovelyCreature Maybe he wants to really focus on the song and not just have it as background music.
+Double Awesome TV. Oh definitely, I get that. I did both things actually, having the songs in the background, but often pausing them talking, to listen to the music . I'm just glad they take their time to talk about the process, and what's behind the songs. Interesting stuff.
spirir animal
did you ever see that beefheart live vid with the drummer wearing panties on his head ? man they had a dynamic groove
I just love how Flea and Anthony talk about the feelings and beauty and meanings of lyrics and John and Chad just share fun stories and talk about arrangements and stuff.
RHCP without Frusciante are a good band. RHCP with Frusciante are a special band.
agree
May Fewtro I know this is really old but I really dig the Strokes reference
Gun4hired12 ♓️
John is back xd
Consider them special now
John Frusciante is a fuckin genius
He really is.. I know people been saying it since the break up back then.. and yeah I agreed because he is.. but this last year or so, I went back and gave it all a new listen with my now trained ear.. and like I said, I alway though he was great.. but now.. I mean,, wow.., the man leaves me floored and it’s surprising that I didn’t fully appreciate or see the full scope of his musicianship back then/. I been playing for years and he opened my eyes.. I could only imagine how good I’d be if I’d learned his lessons back in the day..
Listening to John talk about how he wrote these songs confirms how his brain is just on another level musically that most of us can only wish to achieve.
mirraco323 how he sees music and the creation of music is so beautiful. he sounds like a really profound guy and a genius
I think one of the reasons he has so much difficulty getting out a clear sentence often, is just because he’s lived the life of an artist, never caring to develop the social part of his mind, and is just trying valiantly to verbalize his creative process
@@roddydykes7053it can sometimes be hard to put into words
Stadium Arcadium definitely has one of the prettiest guitar solos ever
When they started talking about snow and were cracking up about Anthony's "heyyyyyyyy ohhhhhhhhhhh yeahhhhhhhhh"...... shit had me dying LOL

Well he said one time that By The Way and Stadium Arcadium where the most productive times of his life.
David Misrahi YEEEEESSSSS!!!!!!
He's always been the driving force. Behind the band.
Nope.
He was the driving force behind Stadium Arcadium and By The Way.
I don't know about Californication, Mother's Milk and Blood Sugar Sex Magik.
and Flea is like: mhm...right...mhm...right:)
I fucking love Flea.
😂😂😂😂💗
He's a little pea
“Mmmhmm… yeah.. yeah.. mmhmm.. Then John came up with that beautiful part.. “
The JF/Chad part is very casual and relaxed. Was fun listening to them.
A lot fun 😍💗💗💗💗😂😆
Frusciante singing sounds so different to Frusciante talking
So True
Anthony too
Flea doesn't though lol
Much like 2D from Gorillaz...😉

Thumbs up if you're a youngster that enjoys "Hey" :)
Dakotah Webb Hey is an amazing song. I dont know how anyone could not like it
+Dakotah Webb I think what you meant was "Thumbs up if you're a youngster who UNDERSTANDS/GETS "Hey" =)
I LOVE "Hey"..! Definitely in my Top 5 for the album! :)
+Dakotah Webb I'm a youngster and I love Hey.
Frusciante's solos, in that song especially, is simply amazing
Welcome Home, John Frusciante
Lol fucking Chad Smith: "Well I.. I taught John that lick actually so... and he just took it from there" hahaha
and when john was talking about wu-tang and how they dont follow the rhythm of the drums..chad was looking at him like "did this dude just throw shade at my drumming"

“Stadium Arcadium” will always be an album that’ll be apart of me forever, it was there for me in my darkest days and pulled me through the chao so when I go back to it now and it’s sooo cool to still vibe to it in my best times. I can listen to this on any given day without getting sick of it, so blessed without it in my life is unthinkable, it’s always close to my heart ♥️
Drink if you hear "John came in with this idea"
Chad is so funny here....... I think he is one of the most underrated member in RHCP....... HE DESERVES BETTER
Yeah definitely he's the equal third most underrated member after John and Flea :D
😆😆😆😆😂❤❤❤❤
Frusciante will always and forever be the greatest.
I don't know about that but yeah he's definitely up there as one of the best
the best alive and still active to this day
And now he's back!
The greatest at copying Hillel cause he lacks personality/identity which is what happens as a lonely suburban privileged white kid upbringing I suppose empty plastic life, flea and Anthony grew up in the streets and brought individuality personality and a connection to the world culture
@@ExcitedAnacondaSnake-hg8ecJohn sounds nothing like Hillel idiot
Am i the only one who really wants to know johns original lyrics to wet sand
You don't form in the wet sand
You're in the 4th dimension
Anthony is always so articulate when he speaks. LuV
Such a cozy interview- sharing so many insightful thoughts and feelings. And in such a comfy setting. Makes me want to get a glass of iced tea, pull up a chair next to them and just listen.
Omg i feel like that too. They are amazing to hang out with 💗😍
You can see the bond between Anthony and Flea. They are practically brothers.
Chad has really just been there for the ride and took it all in his stride. He never fell out with anyone, he just played drums like a maniac and then went home. He hasnt changed a bit either.
He transformed the band from being led by the bass to being led by the drums. He added a classic rock feel which allowed the peppers to have broader commercial appeal, not just a punky underground band like with their first drummer who was frankly average lackluster. Chad is one of the greats of his generation. He brought power, finesse, and gave their music a compelling drive that was exciting as well as a technical proficiency , peppers were amerturish sounding mess early on, Chad cleaned them up was an impeccable time keeper and made it powerful not just indie music. Other elements were important m too, John was a better songwriter than they had before, but Chad was extremely important. They auditioned a lot of drummers. Chad could have joined a number of successful bands.
3:58 John did things that I never thought were possible. I know he struggled. But I'm forever grateful for his contribution to music.
3:57 i love this part omg
John and Chad really got along during this time
Wish they would've talked about Strip My Mind

This gives me a new appreciation for each of the songs
John was the driving force behind every album he was involved with, he takes them from being a good band to a once in a lifetime special band. His way of thinking and creative ideas are on a whole other level to the rest of these guys!
Agreed and the band know it too. The first sign the John wanted back they fired Josh in a heartbeat. They know its straight up Magik. (Pun intended)
On their last two albums I dont think he was the driving force. And if he was that shows a lack of committment because these albums arent very good.
@@SpineburgerI could not agree more, especially on the magik part ⭐
@@somekindofbox264You don't like return of the dream canteen OR Unlimited love? Some of my favourite guitar parts are on those albums.
John poured his energy into those albums and then he went straight into working on his own independent music projects. Hes released 2 of his own albums since then. Now he's been touring with RHCP for most of this year. He's been 100% at every show, he's on fire.
He has a lack of committment to band life, but he's majorly committed to music. As far as I know now when he's not touring+they aren't working on albums he stays in his own circle away from the band. I'd rather he do that than be dead or not in the band at all 😂
@@ciaraskeleton I've thought about how to respond to this. No, I don't like UL or DC. They are meandering, plodding, without much focus or structure. There are no brilliant parts, nothing that pleases me. I've listened to a bunch of the instrumentals of DC, which I think is a slightly better album, just to be sure that the awful lyrics don't distract me. Listening to the instrumentals kinda confirmed one thing for me, that John kinda holds back. He hesitates. The album and the songs don't require his input, and his input doesn't really enhance the songs.
I also listened to some of the Stadium Arcadium instrumentals, an album which I really love, and my impression is very much the opposite there. His guitar parts are the right ones in the right places, they create mood or texture or rhythm or funk. You can generally tell the structure of the song from the guitar, because they are enmeshed. They form one cohesive unit, and the same goes for the bass too.
On the two most recent albums, the instruments don't cohere much. They don't play off of each other, the instruments strike me as disconnected. Flea in particular is trying too hard to be funky and creative, plays too many notes, all the time, and these notes don't really matter.
I adore Johns solo output of the past, I love The Will To Death so much that I would like to have it on Vinyl, but it is pretty expensive since its out of print. But his independent music these days seems to be electronic only. I have tried to listen to it from time to time over the past decade, but I just could not do it. It seems awful to me, not interesting at all. If he is conveying feelings, they are not coming through to me. It is not as awful as his 90s drug fueled output, but similarly unlistenable. So I don't have a high opinion of his solo output as of late.
I get that these are harsh words, and it pains me to say them, because I deeply love John and the Peppers. Not sure in what order. They form a big part of my childhood. Some of my most important moments are tied to their music. And I would like to see them continue being brilliant. My hopes were through the roof when I heard that John would re-join the band, but I was disappointed.
This was a good look for Anthony. He normally changes his look ever album. For 10 plus years he’s been rocking the mustache and I still wish he’d shave it.
Josh was the best fit to replace John, and even though Josh and John both played for this tour...in my opinion Stadium Arcadium was their best and last work.
anyone else pause after every song commentary and listen to each song as they went along? 😂
😂😂😂 not really,i am watching it uninterrupted 😆😆
I love that they put 'Hey' in their personal top 5, it's definitely in mine. And he's right about having to be a "seasoned veterano" - A lot of guys I went to school with didn't care for it, but for me just like they said, its so real
Lets take a moment to recognise the Brilliance of Slow Cheetah.
There's every other song ever, and then there's Slow Cheetah. Wow.
+Tom Will dude, absolutely. Such a powerful and mystical jam! I actually have a cover of it on my channel if you'd be interested in checking it out. I promise it's not shit!
I love that Flea's fav songs are mine as well. Slow Cheetah, Wet Sand, Hey.
at the ending you can see that John has different views on song selection than the chili peppers, I love him soo much and I admire his decision to go solo but at the same time miss him as a chili peppers fan
Well he is back so the world is right again
@@Spineburger and the album just dropped! What do you guys think??
@@-RTC- took a number of listens to fully grow on me but I think it's pretty damn good. I think the next one will be even better.
These 4 guys are an amazing team. John Frusciante channels the sounds from the 4th dimension, Chad and Flea are the bridge that make the sounds more tangible, and Anthony brings it to reality for us to enjoy and understand. Without one of the members whether it be John, Anthony, Chad, or Flea, the music comes out different. They have a soul bond. Together, their potential is much greater than if they were to make music alone. I can't wait to hear what they make on the next album now that they're back together!
I really love this description. John passes it on to flea and chad, they translate and then Anthony makes it into a human experience and a show for us to witness.
They all have their role, even though people like to shit on Anthony, but he's what ties together. Without him fronting, it wouldn't be cohesive or translatable to audiences.
GUYS IM FROM THE FUTURE AND JOHN CAME BACKK
She looks to me was one of my favourites. Johns simple sustained ascending solo followed by “lost in the valley without my horses, no one can tell me what my remorse is” I think that’s just lush
One of the best in depth interview with any band I’ve ever seen. Especially if you know every inch of this album.
I'd love more bands to do this with their albums
14:25 when john and chad say the same thing, that's the definition of chemistry, and it's magical
cuando John y Chad dicen lo mismo, esa es la definición de química, y es mágica
Love this band. They're so chill! I'd love to chill with them one day.
Happy 10th anniversary #StadiumArcadium

Up there for me. One of the most important bands ever. Stand alongside The Beatles, Joy Division and The Smiths.
snow is such a beautiful song the whole composition .The intro and verse guitar is just legendary, lyric wise its awesome the chorus calmer and serene and the outro guitar makes it almost aural fitting perfectly with the album
John inspires me deeply. His slang castle solos and jams pinned my heart against a wall of commitment to my instruments. I want to play something that can move kids the whey his notes move me.
I'm 17 and I fucking love "Hey" it's amazing definitely my top few on this album
HE IS BACK
Generalmente estos tipos son geniales kada uno de ellos los amooooo❤❤❤❤❤❤
Well thank you, John, for coming up with that intro to Snow (Hey Oh)! That song makes me happy!!😊
John es tan grande como músico que sólo nos daremos cuenta de su verdadera dimensión cuando no esté. Este hombre es un genio
I kinda wish they could have let John and Chad talk a bit more, i really would like to hear more opinions from them on the tracks
Seems like they had space to talk more, they just aren't the most talkative guys.
Stadium Arcadium came out when I was 11 and it was the record that really got me into the peppers, I remembering hearing Dani California for the first time on MTV back when...now to this day it is still my favorite album from them, because it covered all bases for the Peppers through every era they’ve been a part of since the 80s. Some Funky, some Melodic, Catchy lyrics, jazzy, slap bass lines, but also slow broken down numbers like wet sand and If. Some of my all time favorite tunes from them are on SA.
John is so amazing. I hope he will be back one day and that Josh could stay.
I have good news and bad news for you, pal...
@@nunosilva369 every cloud... Haha
I am here from the future….
Love knowing from where the sounds and lyrics evolved. Great docu!!
27:09 "technical stuff you people dont understand" lol
I did understand is just specials guitar sounds/effects
+Japhet Miranda,it's a guitar track backwards fed into a reverb with a filter that decays at a different frequency..also it's worth noting that feeding a track backwards makes the sound decay in a completely different way!
"jesus christ fuck the potatoes!"
Hey is my personal favorite... Bad ass track.
Oh yes!thats my fave too.But i havent listened to it b4 which is in 2006 that the album came out coz i got into the Peppers of late lol,but i did have the liking 4 them back in the day,but not as intense as of now, doesn't matter I do admire and love the Peppers now more than ever. It's not too late to be a fan ❤❤
How you doin now?
Gracias Gracias Gracias!!! Hermoso
I don't get all the hate for Anthony. He's a total sweetheart of a human being who, although flawed, has obviously worked on himself and his demons. I love all four of them as musicians and human beings.
This was great! Thank you for posting.
for me what he said about younger people and hey is spot on
I just love these 4 guys :D when they're trolling Anthony with the "hey oh yeah oh now" is still my favourite part XD and on a totally serious note a blank canvas state of mind is just about my absolute favourite thing. That song and this entire album - I couldn't love it more! I'm feeling it :D
The way Anthony describes the songs is ev👏🏾er👏🏾y👏🏾thing!

me da la impresion que cada que ellos decian bueno vamos a hacer otra cancion siempre lo miraban a John
Oh man this is just joyous thank you!!
And "Especially in Michigan"? :(
Love that my favorite guitarist from my favorite band loves my favorite hip hop album
No se si ya se les ocurrio, pero les recomiendo poner el tema de fondo, por ejempl si estan hablando de "wet sand" en el documental, pongan el tema de fondo. queda barbaro.!
Definitely my favorite RHCP album. It came out a few months after I started playing bass guitar and Flea's basslines forced me to get a lot better. "So Much I", "Hey" & "Hard to Concentrate" are still my favs to play
Same here. I still love playing "Torture Me". Flea doesn't get his punk on too much as time goes on, but that line has such a mean, punk vibe that you can't help but love it.
Chris Alderson Yeah, that's a great one too! I honestly enjoy playing the album front to back, because of all the styles of playing he incorporates. His only style I'm not huge into is slapping. I love the 2 notes at the same time style he does on "Hey", "So Much I" & "Death of a Martian"
lol Anthony makes me laugh he's such a geek and philospoher lol 46:00

4:10 “I taught John that kick actually” haha gotta love Chad

I haven't listened to the album before so it's fun to hear them talk about every song and then go listen to it!
Same here-I haven't heard the full album but thanks to TH-cam that i now listened to the whole stuff its mindblowing,i honestly wasnt so much into Peppers as i was too young back then to truly appreciate the beauty and artistry of this particular work.I do regret not being a huge fan b4,but now the more i m into the Peppers, the more i crave now.
Hey is amazing, every time i listen, i wanna cry
Es mi ritual ver, al menos una vez al año, este documental y el de Funky Monks
This was great! But I literally had to go listen to every song again after they talked about them🤣 1 hour video turned into 2 lol
I love have these guys talk about the tracks. AK is so insightful, I think it's true what he says about Hey
My top 3 album of all time..... Classic.
Its sounds so easy for them to make a great album like this. Please make more with John!
