I'm going down to the Grand Canyon for Christmas this year, a solo road trip from Canada. I am so excited to see it. This place has been on my bucket list for so long.
Yes, I know the weather can be questionable, and the North Rim is closed.

Recommend that you return visit in February with a bit of snow. The landscape contrasts are wonderful.
Someday treat yourself to a night at the El Tover, with a canyon view room, delightful.
Decades ago, breakfast was superb, recieved a newspaper, just show your room key, meal is put on your room tab, top service when they know you are a guest, was seated in front the warm fireplace, memories.

I went to The Grand Canyon back in February. Hadn't been there in 40+ years. Pictures just don't do it justice, it's amazingly beautiful. I went to Monument Valley on my way home and loved that as well. Not sure if you've ever been there (I'm guessing you have), but IF you haven't, I highly suggest it. It's majestic.

I read a book last year that I bought at the Sacramento train museum, entitled “the Harvey girls“. I was intrigued by Mary Coulter, especially given the times. There is some controversy about whether or not she designed certain structures. I have passed the book onto friends so I don’t have it in front of me, but it’s an excellent read. It talks about the Harvey system. A huge part of history that I, at 70 years old, never heard or read anything about. A very much enjoy your upbeat attitude and go with the flow attitude you’re very very comfy, Thanks for taking us on the journey with you!

I'm a Nespresso junkie too, Melozio is my addiction....interesting to see you navigate this machine in a vehicle, lol. The water carafe makes it so clunky even in the kitchen. Was worth the trouble with that gorgeous view, I used to live in Williams and the canyon was my "home" too.

Great sweatshirt you bought! I graduated from NAU so have gone to GC many times. I once spent a noisy, sleep less night i
    n El Tovar before hiking
    to Phantom Ranch & out
in a day. My motivation was the dinner reservations we had in the dining room at El Tovar that night. I learned the cabins by the trailhead were better for sleep the next time we hiked down to stay at Phantom Ranch for a night. Maswik Lodge also was good for us. I ❤ GC all seasons - especially the North Rim. Your vlog makes me want to go! Thx much for the beautiful sights!

Outside the east entrance on the way to Cameron, there was petrified wood in the side slopes of the road. We stopped to pickup some trash and noticed the small pieces of petrified wood. The east entrance was closed that year because of CoVid, but our objective was the North Rim. The road to the north Rim was likely already closed and covered in snow when you were there. We camped in some great dispersed camping spots, that were not crowded like the few campgrounds that were open. We spent a night at the Howard Johnson Hotel in Flagstaff to get showers and do laundry, before starting to travel east towards home. My late husband and I both had degrees in Geology and had visited a lot of the sites in northern Arizona on the way out and the the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert, part of Route 66 and Palo Derulo Canyon on the way home. We only scratched the surface on everything there is to see in northern Arizona. Thank you for taking us along on your journey. It brought back wonderful memories.

Thanks for sharing your visit to the Grand Canyon!
It has been around 40 years since I have taken the time to stop in at the Canyon. My wife and I and our infant son spent a day there back in 1985 when I was working for the Forest Service in NW New Mexico. I am sure we missed many things in our hurried visit, including the beautiful tower, than you for giving us a tour.
Interesting way to cook eggs and noodles, do you cook them at the same time, in the same water? how long do you boil them for?
I subscribed to your channel and look forward to seeing more of your travels.
    Bob

There is so much to see at the Grand Canyon. This was something like, my fifth visit and the first time I visited most of those places.
I cook the eggs first (boil) and then add the noodles to the water. They take 5 and 4 minutes respectively but that’s approximate based on elevation.

    Nice video 👍.
Regarding your caption noting the presence of cars in the SK trailhead lot (despite a sign to the contrary), the hiker shuttle driver explained to us that those cars belong to the folks who work down in the canyon (Phantom Ranch, etc). They park there, hike down, work for some number of days (I can’t recall precisely); then, hike back out to their car at the trailhead.

Pop in and say "hello Yvonne , from David x" please?🙊

Hi Christine, chris from Australia 🇦🇺..
A question I'd like to ask,
Do you miss living in a home? Also I wish you the most positive thoughts with your long trek next year. You have alot of spark and you can do it, well have faith in you.

Great views! What a stunning location. I loved the gorgeous brick home/museum too.
Question: I’m headed to the Subaru dealer tomorrow and I’m hoping to own my own Ascent but in green. The price keeps inching up! Which things did you add to the base vehicle that you think were most helpful in your travels? Any that weren’t as important in the big scheme of things?
