@@amanda.outside Congratulations!!! From Indian Garden to the top is what kicked my Butt, probably 70 degrees at Indian Garden, and snowing/blowing on top. I almost got hypothermia, glad I brought top/bottom thermal underwear. That was in November...
Thank you so so much for sharing everything that you do! Not only is the effort strenuous to begin with, but you also exert the extra physical and mental energy to take care of the filming too! I love your hiking videos!
I'm so glad to hear that! Thank you. It means a lot that the videos are appreciated. I love making them, and Nick and I are constantly thinking of ways to improve!
Maybe not all in one day it looks fun an beautiful but very hard lots of elevation climbing up hill !! I would not be able to do 23 miles in one day. I have a hard time doing 3 miles on a flat surface at the dog park with my 2 fur babies last summer we were at 3 miles this year so far it’s slow going about 1 mile for now hopefully we can get back to our 3 miles every couple of days!!
Thank you for sharing your hike. I have done two hikes into the canyon with an overnight at Phantom. Mine was once in December and then in January. Like yours, started off cold then got really warm in spite of it being winter. My experience stays with me always. Hope to do it one more time! Love you channel.
Thank you for sharing! We (me and my 2 sons) crossed paths with you at Manzanita when Nick noticed the Sony A7RIV I was carrying. Your video turned out great! We did R2R2R on that trip but took 4 days to do it, camping 3 nights. You are so right, the HEAT cannot be overstated! Sun hoodies for the win. Happy travels!
I hiked this exact rim to rim hike back in 2015. We spread it out over 4 days and camped 3 nights. It is amazing to me that people do it in a single day! One of the most amazing experiences of my life. I hope to do it again one day.
Amazing and beautiful. I want to move to this part of our country so badly… I would love to hear how much food and water you packed! A whats in my bag for an intense hike like this with extreme temperature changes!
Awesome video!! We did South Side Rim to Rim the day before you (May 16th)… Down South Kaibab, Up Bright Angel. The heat was Brutal 🥵. Even staying very hydrated, I got overheated and ended up spending a couple of hours at Indian Gardens getting my core temp back down by laying in the creek. The incredible beauty surrounding us is what kept us going til the end. Bravo to you and Nick 👏, because that was by far the hardest physical challenge I’ve ever done (including childbirth, lol!)
You brought back many happy memories of when we hiked down into the Canyon and out almost 40 years ago. Thank you. Unlike you however we stopped overnight at the campground and then hiked back up the next day. Stunning hike and a stunning feat by yourselves, especially Nick, lugging all that gear as well. Thank you🙂
This was amazing!! I was cheering for both of you when you made it. The heat would have been the hardest part for me, too. Thanks for filming! These types of videos are my favorite of yours
Wonderful video !!!! After doing that hike in 2003, in 3 days, I can't imagine doing it in 1 day. Congratulations !!!! I have a 20X30 print of the view at the 2:10 mark of your video, hanging on the wall.
Wow, the Grand Canyon is just incredible. I remember visiting Mather Point during the summer of 2021 and it was awesome, just really amazing how big and vast the canyon is, it's really a lot to take in, unlike anything I’ve have ever seen before. Beautifully amazing video. 👍👍👍
Very well done video and congratulations. I just did South Kaibab to the North Rim solo on 05/26, and the heat and of course, the elevation and climb just about did me in, lol. Between Phantom Ranch and Cottonwood was brutal, no shade, as you know, and my almost fatal mistake was being a cap with no neck flap this time. Luckily I had three Bobby pins and a small towel that I hooked to back of my cap. You bringing that pullover was VERY smart. Next time I will bring: arm stockings, people swear by them, salt tablets, and maybe sandals! The climb up was indescribably painful. Anyway, I’m a little older than you, lol, turning 60 next week so that has something to do with it too. I’ve done your route in 2019, you did great for your first time. And major props to your boyfriend for lugging that camera gear! The GC experience R2R is one you have to do, as people really don’t ‘get it’ and all that goes into it and what’s required stamina wise. Sorry to ramble on, just wanted to share my experience. If you ever do the opposite way, start before 5 am, no shade on South Kaibab at all and no water as you probably know, all the way to the base. That’s it. Great job!
Thank you very much! I wish we got even more footage from the day, but I quickly realized that if we stopped as often as I wanted to film, we would never get the hike done! 😂
We completed the same hike in one day on 5/19/22. It was amazing! Definitely will do it again. Perhaps in the opposite direction. Devil's Corkscrew was VERY hot. Recommend to pass it as early as possible and have a gallon of water per person filled up at Phantom Ranch
Congratulations! This is amazing. We just went to see Grand Canyon for first time in April and I made my husband hike down the bright angel trail for a bit to say we hiked into the canyon. It is on my bucket list to do a rim to rim though. What did you guys eat while on the trail? Are you going to do a video on how much and what you brought to eat? Thanks. Love your videos
Great job guys! I hiked rim2rim on October 19th. My first big hike at 66 years old! I went down the South Kaibab and up the north Kaibab. Took me 14 hours and the last 5 miles after Manzanita were very tough, but I'm glad to say I made it! :)
Perfect timing! We just got our permit application accepted last week to camp at the bottom and do a R2R in September! Camping at the bottom has been on my bucket list for years and I am so excited, especially after watching this!

Your videos on basic mistakes to avoid, how to hydrate properly, and how to pack were super-helpful. Thank you!
Awesome video covering Rim to Rim in one day. That is not easy. We did this trip in 2021, end of September over 3 days. Staying 1 night at Cottonwood Campground and 2nd one at Indian Garden. It was a lovely trip. North rim side is very grand.
Congrats on making it all the way on that trail. And thank you for sharing that amazing trail, the views and fliming in that heat. 👍 . That bridge reminds me of when my dad and I walk from bark bay to torrent bay in the able Tasman here in New Zealand. I look forward to part 2
I solo hiked Bright Angel south rim to the top of the North Rim Yesterday, amazing!! I never used trekking poles until I watched your video on them, thank you they helped me so much yesterday.

We plan to walk down South Kaibab trail as we have to carry a lot of water, camp a day or two at Bright Angel and then hike up to the rim as there is water available in places. Looks like the temps didnt get any better. I did that hike on the 15th. Got a late start because of gates on Hwy 67. The sand was miserable. Gorgeous hike.
Whoah! 😮. Unbelievable! When I camp in Texas heat, I bring a collapsible tub and a dipper to drench my head and torso periodically to cool off. A trick I leaned from the jungles of Borneo.
The beginning of the episode I was like .. "Mmm that's a long hike, but maybe I could do it." Then watching y'all struggle... I definitely couldn't do it 😅 Way to go! I celebrated with you at the top! Shout out to your hubby for bringing the extra weight! You both rocked it! 💪
We visited the Grand Canyon for the first time last June. Hiked in a couple of miles from each side (Bright Angel and North Kaibab), but would love to do R2R someday. Looking forward to the follow up video next week.

This is just amazing!! What an accomplishment, I can not believe Nick carried all the camera gear along the way to film everything. How can you prep for such a big adventure?
It's hard to prep for the length, but overall we both workout consistently. We weight train, I bike a lot, and we also go on challenging hikes to build up strength and endurance. Even still, it was a good challenge for us!

Thank you!! I really appreciate the support 🤗 I think that the next time I do it, I'll go in the fall!
@@amanda.outside you're welcome!🤗
Wow that’s awesome so beautiful Nick an you are amazing you work hard and very well together it shows in your videos!!
Well done!! You conquered the challenge. Incredible! What are the sandals you were wearing? I didn’t see them listed in the description.
They are the Bedrock Cairn Adventure sandals. I've been using them for years and absolutely love them!
Thank you Nick!!!
Thanks Nick!!
thanks for sharing .... what month would u recommend on hiking this trail
Incredible 🥾 and thank you, Nick!
So glad you enjoyed this one!! Thank you for commenting!
Hello Amanda thanks for sharing 👍 😊 that will be on my bucket list as well looked amazing 👏
It was definitely an epic experience! In my next video I'm going to share more of the details and tips we learned. Hopefully that will be helpful!
Wow congrats!! My friend invited me to do this hike next year. Any tips on training for it?
nice job!
Looks like the temps didnt get any better. I did that hike on the 15th. Got a late start because of gates on Hwy 67. The sand was miserable. Gorgeous hike.
We just missed you! We did it on the 17th. Once we crossed the bridge and hit that sand, things felt so much hotter!!
So amazing!! Great job, both of you!! This is a tough challenge!
It was tough for sure, but also an experience I'll never forget! Thank you for commenting!! 😁
Whoah! 😮. Unbelievable! When I camp in Texas heat, I bring a collapsible tub and a dipper to drench my head and torso periodically to cool off. A trick I leaned from the jungles of Borneo.
Being able to get my shirt wet made a huge difference for me. I was so grateful for that water!!
YES TO THE SUN SHIRT!! Agreed that caking on sunscreen when you are dirty is just…no good.
Yea I was over the greasy sunscreen real quick that day! 😂 Sun shirt for the WIN!
Your videos are always so beautiful, and congrats on the rim to rim.
Thank you so much 😀 It was a day to remember for sure!
We visited the Grand Canyon for the first time last June. Hiked in a couple of miles from each side (Bright Angel and North Kaibab), but would love to do R2R someday. Looking forward to the follow up video next week.
This has been on my list for so long! It was incredible. Next week I'll talk more about the trail and share some tips and things we learned along the way! Thank you for commenting 😁
WOW! That was sooo epic! Congratulations! 👏 👏 👏
Thank you Tony! It was an awesome day for sure!
Nick did a heck of a job and you!
Great video - can you tell me where you got your shorts?
This is just amazing!! What an accomplishment, I can not believe Nick carried all the camera gear along the way to film everything. How can you prep for such a big adventure?
It's hard to prep for the length, but overall we both workout consistently. We weight train, I bike a lot, and we also go on challenging hikes to build up strength and endurance. Even still, it was a good challenge for us!
